Favorite Scents
Foody scents are wonderful for me. I also love mint, amber (like Bastet), resins, spices (especially sugared and slightly sweet- my god, Snake Oil!), and some musks.

This is the first blend I've tried with civet in it. Hoo boy what an experience. When it first went on, I could smell the musk and opium (and I love Egyptian musk), and the civet was just this animalistic musky scent hanging in the background. But when it dried, I smelled like ass. Slightly powdery, sweet ass. This got scrubbed off quickly- Lush's Miranda soap worked wonders for that. It's also worthy to note that this is the very first time I've opened an imp and had the cap FLY out of my hand, splattering my shorts and my LAPTOP with this lovely scent. The laptop got wiped down quickly and isn't harboring any ill effects, at least. It just figures that it'd happen with one of the only scents that I hate!

In the imp: Wow, creamy sweet. That's about the best way I can describe this. The cream note in it reminds me a bit of Miskatonic University, oddly enough. The sugar almost smells boozy, a little like Sugar Skull '05 (which hated me, eek). Wet on skin: It turns ever-so-slightly plasticky right when it hits my skin. I can tell the buttery, sweet notes are still there, though. A lot of "cream" blends do this to me. Dry: Luckily, just like most of the other ones I've tried, this dries down to a wonderful buttery, milky, sweet scent. I love foody scents like this and they just mellow the longer they're on my skin. It really reminds me of Milk Moon, only a little sweeter, and without some of the crispness (which I think is probably from the lunar oils used in the moon blends). I wonder if I'd get a similar effect if I layered Sugar Skull and Milk Moon? Worth a try. I really love this, and I cherish the imp I managed to find.

In the imp: I really smell peach. That's the top note, with sugary lemon below the surface. Wet on skin: The peach disappears when it hits my skin, and the sugared lemon comes out. This reminds me of a lemon slice coated in crystallized sugar- it's sharp and tart, but sweet as well. It's very fresh. Dry: Now I think I detect the tea! I smell something that makes me think of Dorian, and I think it's the tea. And if I put my nose really close to my skin, I smell some peach too. But mostly this has turned into a sweet lemony tea. It's really nice, and I'm glad I got to try it (via an Inquisition decant circle), but I don't think I'll go hunting it down. (Which is a good thing, given how rare these scents are )

In the imp- Dry roses. It's a little bit dusty. This definitely reminds me of dried roses rather than fresh, like Rose Red or Peacock Queen. Wet on skin- Roses. Pretty much just roses, but still the same quality. Dry- A woody, almost oaken note has come out now- probably the rosewood. I also smell a slightly greener note, with an undertone of dry spice that's probably the hazel. It's still a very dry, rosy blend, and not really for me. It's really pretty, but I'm fairly sure I'm just not a rose gal. Off to swaps!

In the imp- Whoa, I smell something sharp, tart, and sweet. Almost overwhelmingly so. I smell the hazelnuts lurking in the background too. Come forward, hazelnuts! Be not afraid! Wet on skin- Okay, a hint of coconut is showing now. It's still very tart, and I smell violets. Strange. But I love the coconut, so I hope it comes out more. Dry- We're back to sharp. The hazelnuts have gone a bit sour, and the coconut is completely gone. I think the white musk is also turning this powdery for me- white musks and I do not get along, nosiree. I'm learning this, albeit slowly. I don't think this is for me. Although it could be an age issue- this was a freebie imp with maybe 10% left, so fresh Black Pearl might be nuttier and yummier. But I suspect the white musk is the death knell of this scent for me. Into the Tupperware container of rejects with ye!
