51 is sooooo lovely. Yes, this does smell like a department store perfume, or something you could get at Sephora, but I don't regard this as a negative aspect. This is classic, tradtional perfuming at its best. There is a reason why so many perfumes are like 51...because they smell so damn good! In the imp the juice is a clear slightly lime concoction. I can totally detect melony greeness. Very crisp, not heavy. On the skin, the flowers start to come out more - lovely freesia, perhaps a bit of peony. Its very lovely and not tremendously heavy. A few hours later I can still detect it on my skin, but this time it has turned into a soft, powdery musk that is very sweet. Is that a bit of vanilla I smell? This scent is perfect for spring. I've already bought a bottle and its on its way to me now! I can't wait. Love this, total keeper.

When I first sniffed the bottle I wasn't sure that this was going to be a winner. The leafy green note was enough to turn me off...but I still applied it to my skin and I really enjoyed it wet on my skin. I can definitely smell the leafy decaying leaf sharpness but it becomes a bit softer. I definitely can understand where everyone is getting the "mint" smell from. As this morphs from the leafiness to the latter half of the perfume - the soft, cocoa amber - it smells a bit minty for a few moments. But the final stage is the loveliest - warm amber. Vanilla. My boyfriend loves this on me and always tell me I smell nice when wearing this. It smells gorgeous mixed into my wool scarf. Extremely comforting. Top ten material!

i LOVE this! Wet there is definitely a fruity note. I wouldn't say it is a bubblegum fruity but perhaps a green fruitiness. It kind of reminds me of the fruity note in Lush's "Dia De Los Muertos" perfume. Once applied on skin the fruitiness is still there but it dies down a little bit and turns into something a bit greener. It becomes lovely mix of the fruity and the green. The fruity, I should mention is not cloying or overly sweet but is counterbalanced by the green notes. I think that this will be a perfect Christmas Day or perhaps a New Years Eve perfume because it is just so lovely..it really does suggest brightness and joy! Not top ten but definitely top 15 for sure.

2011 version I am new to BPAL and reading on bpal.org informed me that Snow White was pretty much THE YULE to get. So when I saw that it was offered this year - in my cart it went! in the bottle: OH MY GOD this is almost identical to Lush's Snowcake Soap. Having been a Lush fan far longer than BPAL I was almost delighted to smell this. Definitely almondy, sugary, marzipan. There is an element of plastic-ness about it (people posting before have named 'doll plastic', i have to agree. Its a bit intimidating in the bottle. I really want this to work on me and my first time wearing it it was like OH MY GOD my worst fears have come true... But here is the tricky thing. When I got my yule order i tried on like five other perfumes and it just didn't smell right, so i decided to give it another shot. This is the thing that I am learning with BPAL is that learning these scents is not instant gratification. You need to give them a few chances before you make up your mind completely. But i've been wearing it non-stop since. It is a bit "foody"..it reminds me of raw sugar cookie dough. Not really warm...just kind of uncooked and cold but still delicious smelling. The almond is still present for me. It is a bit floral but only in the most faint whisper. I am a preschool teacher and can definitely seeing using this for school days. Its soft and calming and not inappropriate. I love it. Already considering a back up bottle to get through the year!

I am fairly new to BPAL and was absolutely DYING to know what Snake Oil smelled like. I knew it was something that I just had to try given all of the positive comments. I put an ISO thread for some, and a generous, lovely BPALer sent me an imp as well as some extras. When I first opened up the imp I pulled my head back in repose- "WHAT IS THIS STUFF?" I asked aloud, and also "WHY IS THIS SO POPULAR?". It smelt like pure vetiver and something earthy. I closed the imp and was like "eh, maybe I will try this when I am adventurous". Since BPALing, I know that the fragrance just is not the same in the bottle as it is on the skin, and you cannot just got by bottle smell alone. Fatefully, I received an imp of Snake Oil in my Beaver Moon 2011 order and thought it to be fate. So, I smeared some on my skin and gave it a try. Needless to say, it hasn't left my skin SINCE. It is a very sexy smell and every time I put it on my skin my boyfriend is cuddly and says "oh you smell so good!". On my skin I find it to be not extraordinarily spicy, but cozy and musky. Its a very sultry fragrance and I can see wearing this regardless of season (though I think it might be very well suited for muggy, sultry, glittery nights in the city!). I find vetiver to still be present as well as a spiciness. Its just lovely.

in the bottle: heavy, syrupy pumpkin. mildly spicy, buttery wet: more of the same. i am not detecting any sort of coffee smell in this at all. just a cozy comfortable pumpkin smell. it is a bit cloying.. dry down: on a direct sniff on my wrists i detect a bit of dust which is strange..but can definitely still smell the cozy pumpkin wafting around
