Looking for a Tea Rose scent

I really like Euphrosyne, but it's definitely a mixed floral on me. I would not recommend it for tea rose. London is nice for tea rose; kind of light and dry. Viola is the only other one from your list that I have tried.. and I can't give an accurate rec on it because it just doesn't work on me for some reason. I've tried it lab fresh and aged, but it always goes sharp on me, and slightly masculine. (The masculine part is possibly intended on the Lab's part, as it would be appropriate to the character, but I suspect it's just the way my skin handles rosewood and sandalwood together.)

Recs for Role-Playing Games (RPG), LARP and Cosplay

Not sure if this is exactly what you're going for, but I remember finding one of the Baba Yaga scents (in Marchen -- Fire for Thy Stepmother's Daughters) rather unnerving. Made me think of a perfumed woman burnt to a crisp, but it was really subtle. I could easily see it being the scent of, say, a spell component bag or something like that, however. Not sure how detailed you want to get, but maybe mixed with dry leaves and a cut up incense stick in a little pouch? Dunno. Good luck, though. I miss gaming and seeing all the cool things people would come up with for more unusual characters. PS: Just remembered something stanky that happened a week or so ago.. let my friend try out Slippery Poppy Tincture, and wooooah did it smell stinky on her. Like the smell ladybugs make when they get scared and piddle. She may be one in a million, but it was quite interesting to say the least.

    Old books... Books, paper, libraries

Another vote for Dee! Also, because I don't think I saw it mentioned, Captain Cully smells like a well-loved, leatherbound journal on me. I think the porter note turns a little sweet on me and smells a bit like paper and ink.. plus the leather playing around it, of course. (My actual first thought when it dried down on me was, "Oh my god, I smell like a book. MUST keep this one.")

    Mad Hatter

Received this as a frimp with one of my orders here on the forums. Aged (2009 written on the label I believe). Admittedly, I was a little scared to try this one because it mentioned lavender -- I have a mild sinus allergy to lavender, so usually I try to avoid it as much as possible. So far, out of the two or three BPAL oils that mention lavender, this is the one I like best and the only one that didn't make me sniffle. Like others have said, this smells like a cool, crisp mint. I couldn't detect the lavender in it at all -- there is kind of a playful floral hint to the throw after drydown, but that's about it. Wet, it is a mix of strong musk and fresh mint. Drying, it begins to even out a bit and begins to smell elegant, old-fashioned, and slightly sweet. On the complete drydown, the mint stays prominent but becomes creamier.. the musk remains but is in the background, and the throw is like a slightly flowery, vanilla-y mint tea. I don't think this is as "male" as others have stated -- to me, it's like Dorian's aloof little brother, replacing the lemony scent with vanilla mint. Out of all the Alice in Wonderland scents that I have tried, this is the first one to make me go, "Yes, this is definitely perfect for the character." It makes me think of a gentleman in a velvet suit, sipping clear mint tea while sitting cross-legged in a field of strange flowers.. looking for all the world like that's the most perfectly normal thing ever to happen.

    Lilith

Received this as a frimp, and I wasn't really sure if I'd like this one. I was worried about the black musk.. really wasn't sure at all how that was going to work for me. Normally when I want a floral, I want a rose like Helena or Touched Twice, or even just pure rose oil. Tried it on a whim this morning, though, and.. in the bottle, it smelled like boozy fruit. Wet, on my skin, it smelled amazing! Like a very rich, dark, complex rose. Felt very sexy, like I should have been sipping wine or wearing something slinky and dark. As it dried, it started to get sweeter.. and now, it smells like honey. Exactly like the bottle of local wildflower honey in my kitchen. If I go nose-to-skin, I can pick out the rose in there, and she's beautiful.. but the throw is entirely sticky, dark, wildflower honey. That's not a bad scent, mind you.. just not what I really want to smell like. Throw seems average and wear time.. probably long. It's been three to four hours and Lilith hasn't faded on me yet. I may wash her off and try something else for today, though. I am sad.

    Arachne of Lydia

I was a little worried by this scent when I sniffed the bottle. I tend to amp things like clove and patchouli, and I know from experience (mainly at SCA parties ) that actual cloves can be overwhelming to me. With that in mind.. I sadly have to admit that I tested this one over the sink. However! Wet, on my wrist, this smelled like Christmas. And I don't mean the cheap scented pinecone potpourri kind of Christmas, I mean just.. warm, soft cloves, and a little ashy, like a fireplace cooling down. As time went on and it dried out, the clove came out a bit more but it remained very pleasant and dry. I didn't really pick up any fruit or juiciness like others have stated, but the really nice thing is that even though I missed out on that part.. I did get to really enjoy this scent, which was a surprise. Felt very much like a "grown up" fall/winter scent; not foodie, not flowery, just spicy. Lasted most of the day (about 7 hours today, 8 hours before it got too faint to smell even nose-to-wrist) and had a fairly light (though solidly clove) throw. It's not a favorite, but I'll use it once in a while. And even if you're like me and the clove in this is making you nervous.. give it a try! You might be surprised.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

I had the exact same thing happen (same days and everything). I tried writing to BPAL but so far have not gotten a response.. however, I think it's just CCNow being, as you say, weird.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I've tried doing a search, but have come up empty.. has anyone found a match for this one? For what it's worth, Bone Daddy smelled like a fresher/less cologne-y version of Drakkar Noir on my boyfriend at the time. Or, for my own sake, the old version of Rag Doll.. which was my signature scent until they changed formulas, as Argyle mentioned. (The new one smells similar, but it's almost like they have diluted it ridiculously. It now smells like a cheap perfume as opposed to a beautiful but inexpensive perfume.)

    Tweedledum

I really wanted to like this one! And, honestly, I do.. but I think I will have to enjoy it without putting it directly on my skin. In the bottle, it smells adorable -- very bright and fruity with just a hint of earthiness behind it. But on my skin, as it dries, it starts to smell more and more like a very sweet patchouli. It reminds me of the patchouli oil perfume that was very popular when I was in high school during the 90's. I wish that complex, fruity, bright aroma would stay for me.. but it did not. I do tend to amp patchouli and other "incense" smells but I was hoping that the green tea would mellow it out. On the plus side, this scent lasted all day both times I tried it. Applied it around or before noon both times and by bedtime it was still very present on my skin. I do like the scent; I can tell that if I didn't amp the patchouli so much, I'd love it.. it just isn't quite "me" any more to smell so much like patchouli.

    Molly Grue

This is my absolute favorite scent right now. As some others have stated, the first whiff when it's wet seems almost like potpourri. As it's drying, on me, the spices really come out -- so much so that, on my first try, I was tempted to go wash it off. I'm glad I didn't, because about 15 minutes in.. out comes the fig, and the creamy rice flower, and it just smells so sweet and light and delicious. After about an hour, it reminds me of cinnamon/hazelnut, ice cream and graham crackers. The throw is very light.. one reason why I really love this scent. I don't want everyone in a building to smell me; I want a scent that is inviting once someone special is close to me. However, I do wish it lasted longer. I have to re-apply it at least once if I want to wear it all day. I still give it a 5/5 though because honestly.. it's so close to perfect that I don't mind putting it on more than once. If I could find something that would last all day but smell very similar, then I might re-think that.. but for now, it's my top scent.
