Finding BPAL blends similar to Dior perfumes....
oregonmom replied to Cegirls's topic in Recommendations
I don't but I thought a description of Miss Dior Cherie might help those who aren't familiar with it. Osmoz lists top notes of green tangerine, strawberry leaves and violet; middle notes of pink jasmine, wild strawberry and popcorn; base notes of patchouli and crystalline musk. I get a lot of strawberry and find it is a more grown-up sweet scent than most. "Classy for a candy scent" is how I remember one reviewer putting it, LOL. HTH! -
Smells almost exactly like the Chocolate Whipstick lip balm from Lush, so much so that I literally pictured it in my mind. It took a while to realize what I was seeing. The chocolate is really chocolate, not cocoa, and much more realistic than usual. I'm sure this will be a great favorite of many. I only have an imp, but am seriously considering tracking down more.

I received this as a frimp from the lovely Lab and tested it without reading the description or reviews, then reapplied while reading this thread. This immediately smelled very familiarly medicinal, like something I remember in an old first aid kit when I was a child - antiseptic? Then it was a very sharp and stinky, which is jasmine on me unfortunately, but it softened quickly. I detected some fruit in the drydown, as well as the musk and spices listed. No detectable lavendar or rose on me. It ended up being rather nice but faded very fast. I'll pass this one on.

I received this as a frimp from the Lab yesterday and tested it without reading the description or reviews, then reapplied while reading this thread. Wow - this is nothing like I would have expected from the notes listed. I did not get vetiver, which usually amps on me and is generally a case of mutual dislike. I did not get clove, which I do like. I would have sworn it was Dragon's Blood and vanilla, with something else I can't identify. It went through a stage of being almost tooth-achingly sweet - probably the honey. On the second application I got an initial strong scent of peanuts (thank you, Tess, that I'm not the only one) and some cherry on the drydown. I think this is a little heavy for me. I will try it again later to see if I get something different. I see from my inventory that I have an older imp somewhere - it might be worth seeing if aging makes a difference.

BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?
oregonmom replied to beetiger's topic in Recommendations
My first BPAL was a lot of about 30 LE's and DC's. I went through them with my then 6-year-old DD and she thought most of them were stinky. Actually she said they smelled like "pit potties" - I guess in the bottle they reminded her of bathroom deodorizer! Anyway, the only one she liked? Blue Moon. I have about 2 ml and am thinking about making a spray or dry oil for her for Christmas. I hope it's resurrected next year! -
LXXXVII: Very clean floral. It's half linden and half The Unicorn, minus the salinity. Linden can go kind of fabric softener on me, but this is truly lovely. It makes me happy! XCVIII: One of the few I've encountered that is very different in the bottle from on my skin. In the bottle, it smells just vaguely medicinal. On my skin, very strong clove, underlain by white musk. Dies down to a nice warm spiciness. I want more!

Silentium Amoris is beautiful, an old garden rose in full flower. I found it lush and sweet with an initial undercurrent of lemon balm. It reminds me of Bulgarian rose oil, but nicer. It gets drier and bit sharper on the drydown, but doesn't turn powdery or musty tea rose on me like so many do. I've been searching for a rose scent that reminds me of the fragrant antique roses I've grown and this is one of if not the very best. I would describe this as nostalgic but not particularly delicate. My imp was from a swap and I don't know how old it is - I wonder if it has amped up with age. Is it a hopeful sign that that people have received this recently from the lab? If this was ever resurrected I would buy a big bottle and treasure it.

This is my first review, so bear with me. I picked Hamadryad at random from my collection of imps and tested without reading any reviews or even the lab description. I had no idea it was such a complicated and commented-on scent! On me it is initially a big multifloral with cinnamon. The cinnamon fades and is replaced by an earthy, almost resiny - medicinal? - quality. I'm guessing this is what others have described as moss/lichen. On the drydown it was very clean, slightly green, almost masculine. A lot of men's colognes are woody, so maybe that is the association. It's still going strong after six hours, so it's long lasting on me. I barely got the wintergreen note at the beginning. I get that sometimes and am on a personal mission to track down what causes it. I hope it isn't sandalwood. Please don't let it be sandalwood! I will hang on to this and test again later.
