It's been AGES since I was on this forum! I didn't realize how much I'd missed talking about the scents! Maybe this is oddly specific, but has anyone else layered the Steamworks scents with the RPG scents? It hit me this morning that would be like a "steampunk RPG"--and boy did it work. Today I was in the mood to smell like a Fancy Lady Scientist, belonging partially to two worlds but wholly none, deep in her underground lab, researching a burning question. (Which is really me, a doctoral nursing student, doing a review of literature in my basement office. Tomato, to-mah-toe.) Apparently that Fancy Lady Scientist smells just like Galvanic Goggles layered with Half-Elf. It's perfect. Has anyone else tried this? Which ones would you layer?

I had SUCH hopes for this...and it smells like pancake syrup when it dries down on me. *bursts into tears*

I just got this one in the mail today. In the bottle, it's sharp & startling--almost all clove. On my skin it immediately developed more depth and the sharpness backed off until finally it became clove backed by tea with the wood & flowers (which I cannot differentiate) in the background. Like drinking clove-scented tea in a room filled with polished antique wood, with a bouquet on the table beside you. That's the order they hit me in. I'm REALLY liking this blend. It's not the scent of a shy, retiring woman, but it's not the scent of an attention-junkie, either. It's the scent of a woman who knows what she likes and doesn't give a hoot about what you think (to quote the wisdom of Weezer). It's definitely one for wearing when you feel (or want to feel) bold.

This one is FASCINATING! It smells cold & sharp at first sniff, and I tried it on initially for the "darkness" note that always gives a bit of a metallic tang that smells so good on my skin. However, on drydown a strange, sneaking warmth crept in. Now this scent reminds me of nothing so much as taking a walk in the snow on one of those clear, sharp days where the sky looks so high, but wearing a fat, fur-lined jacket in a really warm color like orange or red. I absolutely can't believe that an amber note is playing nice on me, but it IS! Oh how depressed I am to have fallen in love with another LE.

I got an imp of this at a sniffing party among a few LJ friends. If I had read the description before trying this, I wouldn't have done so. That would've been a total shame, because on me, this turns to something warm & spicy & tart. The tart hits right in the back of my sinuses, but the soft, spicy, warmth seems comforting in the front of my nose. This feels like drinking something warm & fruity, but smelling burning incense at the same time. Perhaps something like warm cranberry cider (do they even make such a thing?). It's very earthy and woodsy (woods, metals, & earth seem to be good smells on me), but the tart scent keeps it from being too masculine. This may really need to be a big bottle purchase. I think I have found my winter scent.

I dressed as an agent from the Matrix on Friday night, when we had our costume party. I've been hunting for a scent I think Agent Smith would wear, but as I was really going as just a random female agent, I thought I should find a scent that I would wear, were I this agent. http://pics.livejournal.com/hillarygayle/pic/003z2s43.jpg I settled on Door 13, which smelled metallic & clean & warm, like metal warmed with body heat. I smelled AWESOME.

BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?
hillarygayle replied to beetiger's topic in Recommendations
My son Ganon is a REALLY little guy (he'll be 15 months old this month), but if I were going to put something on him, it would almost have to be Villain. Those of you who recognize that his name came from Legend of Zelda will know why. I am possibly evil for naming my child after a villainous overlord, but it's a pretty name! I know that the 4 year old nephew of my best friend & fellow addict likes the chocolate-based scents a lot. -
Which is precisely what I was looking for. How on earth did I not find that? *is embarrassed*

I've been into BPAL for a while now, and as I'm a lazy bum, I've never done the whole spreadsheet thing. I've got an old copy of it that I used to use for looking up descriptions, but I've suddenly realized today that I'll never be able to keep up with everything I've tried unless I start writing it down. I've searched, and I cannot find the location of the spreadsheet that is updated each time the Lab does so. I know you all will be able to point me in the right direction. So: where is it? Who's hiding it? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I've got a question. I've been pronouncing "The Hesperides" as "hess-pear-ih-deez". Is this anywhere near correct?
