    Hope and Fear Set Free

This is mostly sweet Frankincense on me, as it dries I can start to smell some of the vanilla but it still stays in the background. I was expecting more vanilla but this is still a nice warm, resiny scent. Frankincense can turn really sharp on me, but I think that the vanilla softens it in a subtle way.

    Noctiphobia

I love this! It does start out a bit sharp and I can kind of see how it might smell masculine in it's beginning stages, but after a few minutes the sharpness fades away and it smells lovely. I can't really pick out any notes in it though, but the scent definitely softens in to a pretty oriental kind of scent, which reminds me of cold, clear winter nights. It smells a little bit like Mourning Lace, so perhaps they share some of the same notes, and the same kind of mood too. I need to get a bottle of this

    Phasmophobia

This is really pretty, the dominant note for me is the Calla Lily, which is ok with me because I like this note. It reminds me a little bit of the Queen of Hearts without the cherry note, I think that must be because they both have calla lily and my skin must amp it. I am really happy that the sandalwood doesn't take over and make this scent smell dry and dusty. The only other note I can really smell in this, is the wine in the background. The amber and snow rose don't really show up on my skin - I would have loved to smell more snow rose.

    Summer Lace

Summer Lace starts out with creamy mandarin and vanilla on my skin. In it's initial stages it reminds me of a fruitier version of Tattered Lace, which is one of my favorites. As it settles down though, it becomes more floral with the honeysuckle and opium poppy coming through. I never really get any of the tobacco or apple blossom. I was worried about the honeysuckle because it is a note that turns to soap on my skin, in this blend it doesn't turn soapy but adds a perfumey element. Overall, this is a really nice summery scent and you can definitely tell that it is a member of the Lace family. Tattered Lace is still my favourite of the laces, but this one makes a really nice addition, although I wish that it stayed how it was in the initial stages of creamy vanilla and mandarin. I might even upgrade to a bottle now that I know that the florals aren't going to turn into a soapy mess on me:) Edited to add: I wore this again today, and I love it It's kind of like a more floral and lighter version of Tattered Lace. I definitely need to get a bottle

    The Great Basin

The Great Basin was instant love for me, it is the loveliest, softest violet scent. It has just the right amount of throw - not too strong and not too faint. I only have a decant of this scent, but at some stage I have to track down a bottle because this is really gorgeous! I have to save my decant but I want to wear it all the time because it smells so good

    The Cat

Cedar is an iffy note for me, but in The Cat, it doesn't take over it blends in so well with the dark musk and other notes. I can detect a hint of honey and benzoin, the honey is also a note that can take over for me, but here is just lends a lovely warmth which compliments the cedar and musk so well. This is really well blended and all the notes go together so well, on me it's not a blend where one of the notes take over, instead they all blend to create one lovely whole. It does evoke images of a black cat who has been climbing trees and playing in the grass. I really like this one and I am interested to see how it will age.

    Miss Forcible

This is a very foody scent on me, it starts out as sweet, buttery scent and initially it reminds me of sweeter and muskier version of Bread & Butter-fly. I don't get any tea from this at all or any of the anise that other people mention. As it dries and settles on my skin I can detect a lovely musk scent in the background, which must be the vintage musk. Overall, a lot foodier (I don't think that's even a word) than I was expecting.

    Self-Portrait

Self portrait is a very light, soft scent on me. It starts out with rice milk and orris with a hint of the gentle honey in the background. After it has settled into my skin the honey musk starts to take over, it's the same kind of honey that is in Lady Una, which is one of my favourite scents. As the rice milk and orris start to take a background role the gardenia seems to come to the fore front. Gardenia is an iffy note for me, in this blend though it is balanced by the other notes so it doesn't turn into a sharp, floral mess. Overall, this is a pretty, honey scent but I have other honey scents which fill up my need for any new honey scents in my life

    Love

Love is my favourite from the Lilith exhibition scents. I can smell all the notes here the marshmallow, vanilla, rose and strawberry. It starts out with a lot of marshmallow and I think that it is the most dominant out of all the notes, the next main note for me is the strawberry, so it definitely smells like strawberry marshmallows, or pink jelly beans I do get a hint of the rose and vanilla as it dries down. This is a really girly scent and it reminds me of being a kid so I am considering buying a bottle just for the nostalgia that Love evokes.

    My Happy Day

My first thoughts before I tried the scent are that I wasn't sure about it because it has a few iffy notes for me, the honeysuckle and jasmine. My first impression is that this is a very fizzy, effervescent scent, it is initially dominated by the grape and blackcurrant so it smells like a fruity fizzy drink. But soon the jasmine and honeysuckle take over this scent for me, and they don't work with my skin chemistry. Honeysuckle and Jasmine can turn really sharp and high pitched on me, and this is what happened here sadly I don't know what elemi smells like but I have a suspicion that it might have contributed to this turning sour and sharp on me.The fruitiness is still there but the florals take over this scent for me. It starts out so well, but with my skin chemistry there are some florals which don't work on my skin. I'm happy that I got to try it though.

The Raptures and Roses of Vice

Raptures of Roses and Vice is gorgeous It's a mix of heady magnolia, roses, musk and coconut on me, and it doesn't really morph. It's kind of a creamy floral but really lush and realistic smelling at the same time.

Lips Full of Lust and Laughter

This one smells like grapes on me, it's very sweet. I think it might be from the red musk. I really can't pick out any of the notes apart from what ever is causing the grapey-ness, so this one doesn't really work on me.

    Delight and Consternation

This starts out as a lemon/cocoa combination on me. After it settles into my skin it turns into something beautiful - a musky mix of cocoa, vanilla and lemon blossom. The lemon blossom doesn't dominate the scent like I was scared it would. In the background there is a hint of what must be the custard, I don't get any rose from this. Overall, this is very comforting and wearable. I need to get a bottle of this one.

The Lilies and Languors of Virtue

This is a musky floral on me, with something fruity in the background. It has good throw on me and seems to last on my skin for ages. I think that this is a grown-up, sophisticated floral. This one could be more worn at any time of the year but it strikes me as spring/summer scent.

    Quaeris Quot Mihi Basiationes

This is a sweet scent that starts out with a zing of ginger. The ginger doesn't stay on my skin for very long, it quickly fades leaving a sweet, fruity kind of scent. It reminds me of a fruity, herbal tea with a hint of ginger. This fades very fast on my skin, after half an hour I can barely smell it at all. Overall, this is a nice fruity, summer scent that my skin eats up very quickly.

    A Thought from Propertius

When I first put this on for the first 10 or 15 mintutes the apricot and cayenne pepper merge together to create a really strange, spicy/medicinal smell. After it settles into my skin though, this one is really pretty. After its first initial burst the cayenne actaully fades away and I can barely detect it anymore. I am left with a honeyed apricot scent, its fresh and very summery. There are times when this reminds me a little bit of Josie.

    Khajuraho

2013 version On me, this is dominated by the honey and date palm, as it dries I can smell the amber and maybe the champaca flower too. I don't get any tuberose or rose. The date palm and amber make it kind of exotic smelling. I will re-test this one, I am a fan of honey scents so I may upgrade my decant to a bottle and perhaps the vanilla and other notes will come out more when it has aged a little bit.

    Night Thoughts

This is really lovely, it starts out quite strongly with the cedar which worried me because I amp wood notes and they don't really work on me. Luckily, the cedar faded making way for the lilac and blue musk, with a hint of jasmine. The lilac here is so pretty and realistic smelling, it is like walking through a garden at night time, or having the smell of lilac wafting through your window at night. This will probably be a night or sleep scent for me.

    Signior Dildo

This is the 2013 version This starts out with all violet - very sweet and sugary violet. When I first put it on it actually reminded of High Strung Daisies, that is how sweet and sugary it is on me. I think that it must be the madagascan vanilla and my skin translating it into sugar. There are times when I can smell the narcissus - it's kind of sharp and doesn't really seem to fit with the other notes. The sugaryness does calm down after a while and this becomes a very soft, violet and orris scent. Overall, this is nice especialy when that sweetness settles down and I can no longer smell the narcissus

Contemplating the Moon Through an Open Window

This one is my favorite out of all my luper decants, it starts out with the milky, pear and then the oakmoss, tuberose and opponax come out to create a beautiful, well blended scent. I wasn't sure if this one would work on me with the opponax and carrot seed but it's really lovely. Like the other reviewers have mentioned this is very vintage and classy I will definitely be getting a bottle of this one.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

I recommend Lady Una: Honey musk, green tea leaf, blackberry leaf, vanilla bean, and fae spices. It's honey musk, but its very prominent on me. It's my favorite honey scent. If you are a fan of snake oil then you should try Womb Fury: Snake Oil and three types of honey. Have you tried O?: Amber and honey with a touch of vanilla. It's not my favorite honey scent but you may like it There is also Door which I have never tried but always wanted to: Golden honey, nicotiana, blue chamomile, and cistus. It also has chamomile in it. I hope that helps

    Helena

I get alot of white rose and water lily in Helena. There are times when I smell the lush white rose and it is so pretty and there are other time when I get whiffs of the waterlily. The other notes seem to stay in the background, I don't get much of the rose amber but I think that the jasmine and lily may add something kind of sharp to the blend. This is quite perfumey to my nose. I would describe this as a watery, aquatic white rose scent. It's quite pretty and I will keep the imp and re-test again.

    Dolce Stil Nuovo

This is the 2013 version. This one is definately a morpher! It starts out with alot of lavender on me, and at first it smells like a musky lavender scent. The lavender slowly fades and makes way for the rose, carnation and amber. I love the drydown of this when it reaches a point of being mostly amber, carnation and vanilla flower, its a really warm and feminine scent. I can't smell any jasmine in this at all, from start to finish which is good because I wasn't sure how it was going to smell on me. Overall, this is a really lovely floral/amber scent. It smells kind of vintage and romantic to my nose. I really love this when the lavender settles down and lets the amber, carnation, vanilla flower and rose come through, they smell so good together (ETA: I want to age this one, because I think that it may age nicely).

The Passionate Shepherd To His Love

On me this starts out with the fresh heather and carnation - its smells very realistic and pretty. After about 10 mintues I think that the ivy and maybe the clover must take over, and makes the blend smell very green and at this stage I get a kind of masculine vibe from it. I am going to re-test this one since it only came out of the mail today, it might need some time to settle. I would love for the flowers to stay around longer.
  25. I think that you might like Miss Jessell from this years Yules: Black roses with myrrh, benzoin, and guiac wood. It's a darker rose scent on me and the myrrh & guiac wood add a lovely warm element to the blend You could try: Roses, Pearls & Diamonds from Marchen: Red roses, dazzling crystalline musks, and pearlescent coconut-tinged orris. Rose Cross: purest rose with sacred frankincense Some of my favorite rose scents are - Peacock Queen (a very true, pure rose scent on me), Alice (cake, milk & rose), Persephone (pommegranate & rose), Glasgow (rosy heather & blackberries), London (tea rose). There are so many rose blends in the Black Phoenix GC alone that I am sure you will find the perfect one for you
