I applied this cautiously the first two times and got soft, muted roses, faint green stuff, and a whiff of very nice lily. Not much throw though, and it didn't last very long. So yesterday I decided to go for the gusto and really slather the stuff over lotion... It worked! For a few glorious hours I thoroughly enjoyed smelling like bruised mauve roses - until it turned sour. =( I still like this and plan on finishing my imp (a little at a time). I'm not buying more though.

I ordered this for the name and the narcissus, smelled it and thought it was too masculine/earthy/spicy... And it's my favorite scent now. Imp: Strong and very earthy and spicy. Do not like! Wet: About the same. 5 minutes: Narcissus flowers and earth. It's warm, pervading, and strong but clean like the flowers (though it's not really floral yet). Later: It's floral now. I really play up the narcissus and that's all I can smell... For hours! Which is what I wanted anyway. EDIT: I've stepped back in an attempt to look at (er... smell) this without emotional attachment to the purchase, notes, or concept and... that spicy note never really leaves, it smells a little cloying at the drydown, and I think I'm picking up Axe in there among the narcissus. Sigh.

By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla. Something's wrong with me - this went on very sharp, turned musty and thick, and then was cloyingly sweet for hours. I passed it on to a friend who took an immediate liking and it smells great on her: smooth and smoky with some incense hiding in the vanilla. I wish it smelled like that on me...

In the imp and wet I'm picking up hot Kool-Aid. On my skin it calms down to strong, bright, fruity rose. I tried it layered with a softer floral spray and it was nice but still much stronger than I prefer.

The Antikythera Mechanism

Imp: Amazing. =D Wet: Sharp! X( Half an hour: I smell like a dude! =/ Later: Sticky vanilla. =P -
After Snake Oil let me down I thought Morocco would be the answer - it reminds me of Snake Oil, but without the vanilla that turned all sickly sweet... Nope. It starts out lovely and warm and spicy and I absolutely love it but I can't smell it on me after half an hour, though I do get a whiff of snickerdoodle cookies every once in a while. Don't get me wrong - I love snickerdoodles - but smelling like them is not on my to-do list. Even if it won't stick to me, it sure sticks to my sweaters! I won't order a bottle but I will use the imp on various warm and fuzzy garments. =)

The Malignant Dreams of Cthulhu in Love

This was my first scent, BPAL or otherwise. It's very strong - I can smell it 3 feet away from the bottle. I spilled it once on tile and that room and the four around it smelled like Cthulhu in Love for weeks. It's much better behaved when I wear it though. I get a lot of the salt/kelp/aquatics and the chocolate lurks in the back making the whole thing smell good without really being noticed. Definitely a unisex scent, lasts for HOURS on my skin. It's damp and slithery without being musty and I really like the salt and kelp! EDIT: Tried this for the first time in a while and it's really changed. Less strong, a little more masculine, and I seem to remember the chocolate being sweeter before. Still nice though. -
In the bottle it smelled fresh and a little sharp, as expected. On it was humid/sweet aquatic notes. It was relatively faint on me and lasted ~4 hours without changing much. I was really hoping for ocean and ozone, not inland-jungle humidity. =(

Imp: a little sharp; I'm probably overreacting to the sandalwood again. On: The sharpness faded quickly. I'm getting vanilla and amber, some aquatic, and... butter? Interesting. The whole scent has a sort of rich, smooth, gold feel to it that reminds me of butter. Later: Still there. I think some of the lighter notes have faded because it's reminding me more of peanut brittle than butter. More sweet/foody than I was hoping for, but still very nice. Not quite my speed though...
