    Snow Moon

In the bottle: frozen citrus and florals. Wet: frozen aquatic citrus and florals. Dry down: smells like Skadi but with citrus rather than berries. 30 minutes: now it smells like Skadi and Talvikuu had a child. The older sophisticated sister to to Snow Bunny. Conclusion: Of course I love another LE which I can't have. But I will enjoy my imp. Thanks to Mandragora, you rock girl! Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.5.

    Skadi

In the bottle: berries, cream, and pine. Wet: pine and aquatic berries. Dry down: pine and aquatic berries. It smells very similar to Talvikuu to me, except this is sweeter. Talvikuu with berries. This also reminds me of Snow Bunny, but less sweet. No Jolly Ranchers hung from pine trees. Skadi is in between the two. 30 minutes: berries in snow under pine trees. Nice. I can see why this is a holy grail of BPAL. Conclusion: it turned into a soft minty berry as it faded. Smells similar to Yultide at that point. I too am sad it is no longer available. This is a more fem version of Talvikuu. I like my Talvikuu on me better, but I am glad I got to try this. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.5.

    Tum

Frimp luv from Mandragora, you are a Queen! In the bottle: grassy citrus almost musty. I put my nose to close to the bottle when I first sniffed and this slapped me in the nose! It is quite strong. Wet: musty ambery grass with a slight wood undertone. Dry down: this turned into plastic citrus fruits. Or like a plastic toy with scent. I am so disappointed. 30 minutes: plastic toys made to smell citrusy. I had to wash this off. Conclusion: this started off nice enough, but turned nasty. I hope this is set will be like Ars Draconis, where I find at least one of the solars that work. *crosses fingers* This one just wasn't it. Rating 1-5, on my skin this is a 1.

    Loviatar

I just wanted to note here, that this review based on a fresh imp. I had another frimp, that was old, and it smelled terrible. So, I learned that they do eventually break down. In the bottle: faint hint of leather and something clean and fresh lurking. Wet: leather and the surprising sweet clean aspect. Dry down: leather and myrrh start their S & M session. Remember the safety word is "amber." 30 minutes: this is down and dirty leather!!! Myrrh said the word, and leather is just cleaning things up from their fun and games. This is naughty, lovely, and arousing. Conclusion: MORE MORE MORE!!!! I will be getting a big bottle of this. This is like my beloved Spanked without the cinnamon. When Spanked is gone, I will at least have you Loviatar! And, since others here have said this is like a feminine Iago, I am going to have to try him as well. This scent makes me feel like a "kick ass and take no names," girl. Like I need any help with that. Mamma like. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 5+.

    Thalia

Plumeria, pear and white champagne. In the bottle: Hmm, I smell a citrus smell, there is no citrus in this. Also get the plumeria. Not sure this is going to work on me. Florals and I tend not to get along, or if we do, it is a rare one that I want to wear. Wet: still citrus, where is my pear you rascal? Floral loviness that is plumeria. Uh oh, I am starting to get that "funk" smell I tend to get with florals, particularly jasmine and paperwhites. Houston, we could have a problem! Dry down: the whole thing gets sweeter, including the citrus smell. *sigh* pear a pear, my kingdom for a pear! Stupid nose, this scent is registering as grapefruit now. The "funk" is gone, YAY! I like this, despite smelling grapfruit instead of pear. 30 minutes: a lovely citrus floral. I am wondering if my nose is registering the pear and champagne together as citrus, because it is "bubbly." This is a lovely light Summery scent. Toward the end it almost smelled of peaches. I might get more of this for Summer. For those of you who don't wear florals like me, you might give this a try anyway. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.

    Dragon's Hide

In the bottle: Dragon's Blood resin. Wet: Dragon's Blood resin. Which I am afraid will be the only smell on me, as my chemistry likes to amp it to cherry, CHERRY, CHERRY DAMMIT! *crosses fingers* it doesn't smell like DB usually does, this time it takes the Nag Champa route. Dry down: DB and leather! Yeah baby YEAH!!! Does it make you horney baby? No cherry, just DB smelling a lot like Nag Champa. 30 minutes: leather goes into the background instead of sharing the space equally with DB. Conclusion: this has great throw and lasting power. It faded down to smell just like the Yule LE The Cracked Bell on me, which I love. So much so, that I think I am going to have to do a wrist to wrist comparison. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.

    Vinland

In the bottle: today children we are going to learn a new word, WINTERGREEN, say it with me now... Wet: wintergreen with something that smells like Loviatar's leather. Hmm, interesting. Dry down: wintergreen and leather. Now this may sound bad, but I didn't have any desire to wash it off at this point. It was just unusual. 30 minutes: BPAL scents are such morphers, it is such a journey sometimes. At 30 minutes it turned into a dry scent, if that makes any sense. Then poof, the wintergreen suddenly toned down went to the background and let the berries comout and play. It got less dry at that point too. This is really lovely. Conclusion: It turns into a wine like smell. In fact it smells alot like Black Tower on me, but softer than BT. This is like cold winds blowing off a cold steel colored ocean on an misty day. The winds blow across wet grasses, and small flowers on bramble bushes. You can smell the scent of cold wet rock mingling with the flowers, rain, grass and berries. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.

    Golden Priapus

In the bottle: golden amber, maybe honey? Something woody. I don't smell pine at this point. Wet: PINE, honey, and amber. It doesn't smell like Pinesol, just fresh pine. I like this much better than Black Forest, which turned to sour pine baby powder. Dry down: Pine and golden amber dribbled with honey. Pine has gone frm PINE, to pine which plays well with others. Oh yeah, this is the stuff. I am a "masculine" scent wearing girl, so this is a scent for me. My skin scoffs at florals. 30 minutes: Pine, amber and honey. THis all green and gold to me, one of the scents that make color impressions for me. So far I love it. The amber doesn't seem to be turning into powder on me, so far so good. Conclusion: Soft amber and pine that fades down to just amber after a several hours. I think we have another catalogue winner! WOHOO!!! Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.5.

    Death on a Pale Horse

In the bottle: green herbally goodness. Smell the lavender. Wet: green herbally goodness and lavender. I love this! Dry down: this is clean, and fresh. The lavender really starts to appear. This is green smelling. I cannot stop sniffing myself! 30 minutes: soft herbally lavender. Smells very much like a gentlemen's Victorian cologne. Smells more masculine to me, which is just fine, as I do better with masculine scents. Conclusion: who knew Death could smell so good? The lavender is lovely, not soapy. This scent makes me think of Death from all the Terry Prachett books. Especially the "Good Omens" book. This is what I imagine Death in his books would smell like. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.5.

    Leanan Sidhe

In the bottle: light, clean, greeny herbal, slightly floral. Wet: soft green floral. So far so good, the floral aspect isn't turning into old lady mugger. Dry down: Wow, it starts off all soft and demure, coy. You have to stick your nose next to your wrist. Then, BAM!!!! Leanan Sidhe leaves all pretense behind and kicks you where it hurts. It is still clean and fresh, slightly floral, but the throw amps to the fullest. Wow, this is a lady that will arrive before me, wherever I go. I think my mom would like this. Maybe better on her than me, I am not a floral gal. 30 minutes: very strong, great throw, green floral. In fact, I may change my mind about this not being me. Conclusion: it reminds me of the comercial perfume "Tommy Girl." Better than that perfume could ever be of course. I am definitely keeping the imp and using it. I may buy 5 ml for myself and my mum. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 4.

    The Hesperides

In the bottle: apple with something smokey underneath. Wet: apple and something smokey along with a wintergreen. Hmm, that is interesting. Dry Down: wintergreen which registers as wintery or cold, still smokey. Not much apple coming through at this point, which is disappointing, bu not terrible. 30 minutes: apple wine, with a clean undertone, like a light floral. Like Samhain's Springtime sister. Samhain without the tobacco. Conclusion: this is a lovely scent, very fresh. But after a couple of hours it turned into apple pastry with flowers. I wish it had stayed more apple, I would have loved it. Maybe I will just reapply so it doesn't get to the pastry stage. Must contemplate if I want to go to the trouble. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 3.5.

    Black Cat

I have had a review of this on paper and I thought I put it down already, guess not. Here goes: In the bottle: fresh mint. Dry down: mint that has taken on a musty tone. 30 minutes: this turns lemony fresh, not Pledge, but citrus and clean. Conclusion: nice, fresh, clean smelling. I wouldn't wear this as an everyday fragrance, but for magical purposes, yes. Rating 1-5 on my skin, this is a 3.5.

    Blood Moon 2005

This shout out goes to Aredhel for selling me her bottle of this. In the bottle: Cinnamon (but not that fake craft store cinnamon broom smell that you see every October) and something creamy underneath? Wet: cinnamon and that creaminess and grains. Dry down: cinnamon and smoke with creaminess with grains. Not really getting vanilla, but I wonder if it is what is giving the creamy, graininess feel to this. I love this. 30 minutes: smokey cinnamon and creamines with something soft under it all, maybe the lunar oils? I am in love! I hope Beth brings this back, I will buy two bottles. Conclusion: This reminds me of my beloved Spanked (which I wish Beth would make a catalogue scent). I love this so much I am going to cry because I came too late to BPAL to get several of these. This is in my top ten, if not my number one. Why oh why do I have to love the dicontinued ones???? I will cherish my bottle. Rating on my skin, this is a 5+.

    Desdemona

In the bottle: appley floral. Nice. I think it is the sweet pea I am registering as appley? Wet: appley floral. Smells a little like jasmine to my nose, without that funk I get with jasmine. Dry down: very strong floral, I think the calla lilly just amped up. Smells like that old perfume "White Shoulders" that my mum wore. Brings back nice memories. 30 minutes: fruity floral, like apples and jasmine. Conclusion: Nice, but not for me. I will swap or send on to enable friends or my mum. Rating on my skin, this is a 4, but for my personal taste it is a 3.

    Wicked

In the bottle: that funky stank smell I associate with some flowers, like paperwhites and jasmine. A sweet fragrance with something bitter lurking underneath. Wet: same funky smell, sweet and bitter. I am not getting rose out of this at all. Dry down: funky flowery sweet with bitter. Maybe Myrrh doesn't like me. Conclusion: Didn't even get to 30 minutes, I just washed it off and applied Lupreci to cover it. Not my kind of scent. My stupid chemistry just didn' play well with this one. Rating on my skin, this is a 1.

    Seraglio

In the bottle: Oh dear, garlic salt. Must be the almond? Same thing happened with Hecate. So, garlic salty almonds. Wet: garlic salt and something sweet. Dry down: orangey floral like soap or a cleaning solution, but prettier and softer. Wow this one does morph a lot! 30 minutes: roses. I am not a rose person but this is nice. Rose that didn't turn into grandma. Conclusion: soft powdery roses. Nice, feminine, but not me. Rating on my skin, this is a 2.

    Dirty

In the bottle: clean laundry. Not dryer sheets, not soap, but clean laundry fresh from the dryer. Wet: clean laundry. Dry down: doesn't morph, still clean laundry with a hint, of citrus. I like this very much. 30 minutes: still clean laundry and a hint of citrus. Nice. Conclusion: I love it. It would be great sprayed on sheets, when they lose that fresh from the dryer smell but are too clean to wash again just to get that. A room scent, a body scent. This is excellent stuff. Not to mention I love the irony of the name and the scent. I love telling people the name of the BPAL scents when I am wearing them. Rating on my skin, this is a 4.

    Scherezade

In the bottle: soft, so soft I almost can't smell anything. Is there any oil in the imp? I check to be sure there is. Smells floral for some reason. Wet: soft floral ( hmm not getting saffron, or spices, or musk, is this labeled right? ) Dry down: plasticy floral. Umm this is unpleasant. I think I must wash it off. Conclusion: Not so good. Didn't even give it my usuall 30 min +. Rating on my skin, this is a 1. I think this is an old imp, an new one from the lab may change this review. I hope so. Will post later.

    Port-Au-Prince

In the bottle: sweet, with tobacco ( I don't look at the notes until after I try it) fruity. Wet: sweet, spicey and creamy. Dry down: creamy and spicey. I did not get any rummy or buttery goodness. 30 minutes: spice really starts coming out. This is so soft on me, and not much throw. Could the imp be old? The oil breaking down? It has no throw. Conclusion: this goes too soft, and that the spicey stage isn't enough to wow me. Could be an old imp. May have to try a new one from the lab. Rating on my skin, this is a 2.5 (unless I get to try a new one and this changes, I will edit then).

    Madrid

In the bottle: sweet black currants. Yummy! Wet: sweet black currants. Dry down: black currants. I don't smell any clove, which is disappointing. 30 minutes: grape juice???? WTH? I smell like grape juice or grape soda. Conclusion: if this had stayed black currants, not grape soda, I would have liked it. And on further pondering, this reminds me of a bush/tree we have here in Texas called the Mountain Laurel. Every Spring this bush gets clusters of vivid purple blooms that actuall look like bunches of grapes in the way they hang. Their perfume can be smelled way before you see the bush. The smell is a perfumey grape soda. It is hard to descibe, but Madrid smells just like Beth took this plants blooms and made a perfume. Not what I want to smell like, but nice. Rating on my skin, this is a 2.

    Athens

In the bottle: appley sweetness? Wet: TWIZZLERS! Ok, I love most of BPAL's wine notes, not getting that, getting Twizzlers. Umm no, this is not good. I was hoping to love Athens. Dry down: appley sweetness, with a rose scent? Whah? Roses aren't listed. Maybe I got an old imp? Or maybe it is because of Aunt Flow? Somethng bitter has popped up too. 30 minutes: smells dark rich, and yummy. Almost like tobacco with a floral on top. Ok, I am really having trouble with my nose. Conclusion: Became bubblegum sweet on me. Smelled like bubble gum and Twizzlers. I am so disappointed. Maybe I need to try it again after my hormones settle down again. I will edit if the scent changes. Rating on my skin, for now this is a 2.

    The Ghost

In the bottle: soft white florals. Like Snow White without the cream or greeness. Wet: soft white creamy floral, but a floral I can apparently wear. Dry down: soft white creamy floral, but without the "funk" bitter stank I usually get with paperwhites or jasmine. 30 minutes: This doesn't really morph. It is still soft creamy white paperwhite florals with the hint of something sweet and fruity (osmanthus maybe?). Conclusion: This is ethereal just like the name. Not a lot of throw, but has a lot of staying power. I usually don't like florals and they sure don't like me. But there is always and exception to every rule. This floral didn't turn into old ladies who mug me or my wallet leaving me beaten and smelling of either hard candy or powder. This stays soft, creamy, and ultra fem. I could actually see wearing this in October, my floral for the ghosts and ghoulies. October being my favorite month, this would be my choice for a sophisticated evening out. Lovely! Rating on my skin, this is a 4.5.
  23. Neely

    Noir

In the bottle: spicey creaminess. Wet: spicey creamy floral. Dry down: same as before, but something bitter has come out as well. I am not liking this stage at all. Conclusion: I washed it off. Whatever caused that funk with my chemistry was just not working out. Funny thing, when I washed it off, the light lingering part of the scent was very nice. Too bad the funk had to come out and play. Rating on my skin, this is a 1.

    Holiday Moon

Frimp from the lovely Mandragora! Feel the love girl! In the bottle: Light, piney, clean citrus. Wet: citrusy pine? Where is the citrus coming from? Maybe I am reading bamboo as pine. Hmm, *tweaks own nose*. Dry Down: citrus, I swear I smell citrus! Grapefruit in fact! Grapefruit on top of pine. 30 minutes: ;erfumey citrusy goodness. This smells so familiar! I know, it reminds me of the perfume "Red Door, " but better! I like this very much. Conclusion: I like it, too bad it would be so hard to get more. I love my imp, thanks to Mandragora. Wish I had discovered it sooner. Rating on my skin, this is a 4.5.

    Hunter Moon 2004

In the bottle: sweet and earthy, appley. Wet: gets darker instantly. More earthy, more smokey, almost cigarette smoke? Oooh please don't. This sits on top of something bitter and green, herbally. Dry down: herbally and sweet, incensy and strong. Great throw. In fact this reminds me of Hexenacht a lot. Or as someone else pointed out, a cross between Hex and Samhain. This is very Autumnal. 30 minutes: Unlike Samhain or Hex, this softens. Must be the lunar oils? Nice. Conclusion: I like it, I will enjoy the 2 ml I have. This is so similar to two of my favs, Sam and Hex. I would rather have Hex, which I am hoping Beth brings back. Being the evil enabler I am, I would have to buy a bottle for my mum, she smells great in Hex. I may have to get her to try this one. But, I don't want to get her hooked on one that is now gone. Rating on my skin, this is a 4.5.
