You might try Litha (if you can find some)- I kind of get a "sweet dried grasses" vibe from her- even though grass isn't listed as any of the notes: Honey mead with honeysuckle, oak wood, ivy leaf, wild thyme, carnation, daisy, vervain, gum arabic, frankincense, yauhtli, and liquid copal. Maybe it's the mead...

BPAL blends that remind us of Chanel perfumes

My only idea would be Fenris Wolf: The raw, untamable power of chaos. Rosewood, amber, red musk and a dribble of red sandalwood. Patchouli and Labdanum are really bad notes on me, so I don't really have any rec's for those... -
Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

You could also try wearing Gennivre in a scent locket- a scent locked will usually retain the "wet" scent of the oil... -
For LE's Punkie Night and Creepy are fantastic apple scents! For the GC my favorite apple scent is Verdandi- it's like warm apple cider.

I second Mag Mell, and Sundew is very golden. -
Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I wore The Snow Maiden all day today at work and I've come to realize that it's very close to...get ready... Snow Angel! At least it is on me... -
This was this year's Yule winner for me. I LOVE it! It is very sparkling and cold and fresh, like a bright snowy morning. I don't really smell the florals very much, it actually reminds me a bit of Sea of Glass, but without the sharpness that SOG has. Lovely!

That's just what I got, and not in a good way... I was a little worried when people started comparing this to Snow White, which was a mess on my skin. It does last a good long while (why is it always the oils I don't like that last the longest?!) ...sigh...
-
Possibly... the only person who would really know the exact oils in each blend would be Beth. Also, LE's are only $2.50 more than GC bottles, so it's not much of a difference... There have to be LE's, or one of two things would happen- we wouldn't get new oils added all the time, or there would be an insanely large general catalog, which is unrealistic.

The blends are similar, but not identical from year to year- each year has a new formulation. You can see the differences by reading the different year's reviews in the "reviews" section of the forum.

I LOVED last year's Lick It and wear it all the time. I was really excited about trying Lick It Again to see what a new take on it would be like. Well, LIA is a lot stronger peppermint than last years and it has a hint of menthol, although it's not overpowering... It lasts longer (on me) than last year's version too. It's not as sweet and creamy as Lick It, although I think I like it- it has a stronger peppermint kick.

Jack was one of the first BPAL's I ever tried... it is strong! Like others have said it's very buttery- too buttery for me in fact. Pumpkin Queen is nice, it's not straight pumpkin- the mandarin and fig round it out so it's not so foody. The best straight pumpkin I've found is Pumpkin Patch #5 (with woods and ivy), I think it's my favorite pumpkin blend. You might want to order an imp of Jack, even though some people find it too buttery a lot of people love it...

I'd say to try The Unicorn. Good luck!

...a singularly chilly, delectably ice-rimmed perfume. Revel in the gelid polar frostiness that is Numb, and forget about the heat for a moment. I feel so bad for Numb. I feel like she's the singular hated oil from the whole BPAL catalog- past and present. I swapped for an imp because I wanted to give her a try. I love wintery scents, but violets rarely work on me... Well, on me, Numb was a very, very powdery violet. No.

I was hoping for a really pine-y blend with Slobbering Pine... On, it is a light pine wiith a bright, almost citrus freshness... It reminds me a bit of Snow Bunny but it's much less sweet. It also has a bit of a fresh air note like Empyreal Mist. Not what I was expecting, but nice none the less...

The Star is the only blend with coconut (other than Creepy- although I don't smell the coconut rum in that at all) that hasn't turned plastic on my skin, so I hope it works for you!

Best scents for performing, public speaking, anytime on stage

I hope it goes well tomorrow! I'd recommend Tushnamatay. It's very calming and centering, so it might help you to focus and to not be so stressed... Good luck! Try not to be nervous! -
I've not tried Aeropastale girls, although Kitsune Tsuki might work as a fresh fruity/floral scent...

Pumpkin Queen was worth the wait! She's beautiful!!! The one note in this that I was worried about was the orange peel, I couldn't picture it with the other notes, but the orange peel actually keeps it from being too foody on me. All the notes balance and compliment each other wonderfully- I'll be wearing this a lot this fall!

Creepy smells just like a real carmel apple! It's...creepy... (ha!) I was really worried about this blend. I was almost sure it wouldn't work on me, but had to order it on the rare chance that the coconut wouldn't turn plastic (as coconut almost always does on me). Well, I get no coconut at all from this (thankfully), just tart juicy apple and caramel. It's so realistic smelling it makes me hungry! Wonderful!

The scent of tea - BPAL's tea note, BPAL blends like your favorite tea
ajcj213499 replied to sarada's topic in Recommendations
I've tried and like a lot of tea scents, but the one that seems the most "tea" to me is Gennivre. -
Nuclear Winter was not what I was expecting it to be like. Instead of a frozen scent, this is the smell of the world thawing, of new life- I see it more as Nuclear Spring than Nuclear Winter. There is a definate mint note, although a green mint- not peppermint like Lick It, that's mixed with a beautiful cold aquatic. In addition to the mint and melting ice I get a bit of greeness, almost like ferns or some sort of grass peeking out from melted snow. It smells just like the end of winter where green things start peeking out of the ground. Lovely! I think this will be my official end of winter scent.

Somnus was a little too perfumey for a sleep blend (at least for me). It smelled strongly of jasmine with a backing of lavender. I think i'll stick with Temple of Dreams for sleeping...

I LOVE this! I was a little worried about the florals, because I'm not really in the mood for more flowers right now. I was hoping for the sugared incense, and that' just what I got (lucky me!)... When I first put it on I smelled a light soapiness, but a pretty, clean soapiness- nice, but not what I was expecting... After about 5 minutes the soapiness goes away and leaves sweet beautiful incense- I didn't really detect any florals. This is really wonderful, and lasts a decent amount of time on my skin (more than a lot of other oils). I'm getting a bottle of this in my next order.

This is a bit too masculine on me, although I think it would smell WONDERFUL on a boy. I see the similarity to Dorian, although this is sharper than Dorian and less foodie. This would be a great intro to BPAL gift for a man.
