Sad, sad, sad.... I was sooo hoping this Enraged blend would work, but it just hated me on first sight!! In the bottle, it smells just like baklava, probably my favourite pastry EVER - a lovely honeyish, cinnamon-y, flakey pastry with a slightly nutty undertone. I was over the moon when I opened it up!!!!!!!!!! On my wrist, it turned to a dusty, musty odd smell. No baklava, no sweet honey, nothing. It smelled a little like sawdust, and reminded me sooo much of how Monsterbait:Underpants hated me. Man oh man, I was sooo sure it would be a hit, I bought two bottles!! For the folks who are loving it, please don't mind the daggers shooting out of my eyes!!

White Moon was the Lunacy that was released near my birthday, and the fact that it had lilac, my favourite flower, was icing on the cake.. I got my bottles last week and it is just... exquisite. The most floaty, shimmery, ghost-like scent that is a gift in itself!! Second Lunacy in a row that I love, but this'll have a special place in my heart!! What a great gift from the Lab!!!

I get absolutely no fruit in this, and the lotus root which had previously thwarted me at every turn was almost non-existent. But what was there was an ethereal, luminescent blend that was feminine and inviting and wafted around me like a sheer veil of gorgessity!!!! I will cherish Kindly Moon!!!!

FB is spicy - SPICY! - and super-rich!! To me, FB is a pretty close blend to Carnivale, so it's good to know I've got a Carnivale-esque GC option!! I can't get over how spicy it was - like I expected there to be cinnamon in there somewhere!! But it had great throw and it lasted for quite a while... Just a swipe on the ol' wrist and it was good to go for hours!!

I had such high, HIGH hopes for Midway, but alas, it was not for me.... In the bottle, it smelled quite nice, a sweet yummy scent, even though I couuldn't pick out any once scent, it smelled like being in a candy shop, where there's a bit of everything, you know? On my wrist, it turned fake plastic sweets. It was soooo heartbreaking!!!! At the very least, I can say I tried it, and won't be forever saying 'Midway??! Why didn't I chase that one down??!'

BOOO ON SKIN CHEMISTRY!!!!!!!!!!!! Like so many people have had happen, MB Closet was nothin' but aged kitty-litter box. FUNKY!!! I am heartbroken. Underpants kicked me square in the arse, as did Peony Moon, and now Closet?? This is too, too much!!!

I was sooo incredibly lucky to have gotten an imp of Mitzvah from le Rhowan and then scored a bottle from tart because this is one fantastic scent! This reminds me instantly of this popcorn from Kernels called Double Double Butter. It's basically caramel popcorn double-dunked so that it's a thick caramel-candy coating, with salty popcorn underneath. It makes my mouth water just describing it!! Well, that's what Mitzvah was on me - Double Double Butter popcorn with a helping dose of caramel and a tangy salty undertone. I snacked on soo much random sweet stuff while wearing this because I kept getting whiffs of it when I moved, and I was hungry all day!!! I am in love with this bottle. If I find another bottle, I'll be tempted to swap it for my daughter. Seriously, it's THAT good!!!!

I got an imp of this and I'm so lucky to have been able to try it!! In the vial, it's a liquid Sugar Cookie - buttery and vanilla-y goodness.. with a slightly butterscotch scent buried deep down... On my skin- oooh yeah. I could picture this cookie, a big angel-shaped cookie with slightly browned edges and pressed in fancy sparkly sugar! So awesome!!

Extracted directly from the twitching nether-regions of the wild Eastertime bunny rabbit: a snarling, slavering, buck-toothed, fluffy, floppy-eared, horny-as-hell Springtime beast. Soft cotton blossom, white musk, baby's breath, clover and pale powder notes. When I first looked at the bottle, I feel in love with the cuddly-yet-ferocious Bunny snarl, it looks almost like a bunny roar!! So I was doubly convinced this would be my scent! I mean, the description sounded amazing and the right scent for spring and for a cozy, comforting scent!! On though - oh my gosh, Enraged Bunny Musk turned to Crazed Cedar Cabinet!! It smelled JUST like the cedar shavings we used to put in my bunnies cages when we changed them! But this wasn't quite the scent I had in mind, sadly!!!

I had a miserable, miserable sleep last night - sooo darn hot and icky in my house!! So when I was grabbing my perfume for the day, I grabbed Snow Bunny to shake things up.. And I'm reminded of how shape-shifting BPAL is, because while Snow Bunny was very pine and Christmas-y with a touch of orange on me in the winter, it was slighty pine, perfume and nicely powdery on drydown... the perfect scent to cool you down when it feels hotter than Satan's armpit!!

Oooh, I wanted to love the Underpants. The bottle - cheeky! saucy! ... The descriptions and notes sounded amazing.... until the Saffron Monster squashed the crap out of all the other lovely notes and once it hit my skin, it was all musty, dry, slightly nauseating saffron! I hang onto the bottle for a bit, thinking I'd save it for a good-skin-chemistry day but I knew it wasn't going to work.... But for all the folks who can wear it, you're lucky and I hope you're all loving your Panties

*bowing madly to Rhowan* I just got this in a monster package from the fab Rhowan, and I can say that ths scent is just awesome. Not the word as used by Valley Girls ("like, totally awesome!!!! *insert bobble head movement and lopsided grin here*) I mean, just awesome as in, jaw droppng, totally unexpected but awe-inspiring.... My birthstone is opal, yet I didn't try this one sooner, and do I ever regret it. But this will be on my next order for sure. It's creamy and soft, no doubt, but it's not a foody creamy? It's so smooth on our nose, the way that creme brulee is soft on our palate, you know? Black Opal is snuggle-worthy and it whispers around you very soothingly. It's not a scent with huge throw, but it's so intriguing and ever so often when I'd be moving about, I'd catch a whiff of it and sort of sigh contentedly. It's vanilla, but it's a powdery vanilla, and yet - just like the red lights in opals themselves, there were 'glints' of stone and mineral in the blend. I love this, dare I say, more than Snow White? Only slightly, but yes, it's that gorgeous!! I had to reapply from my imp, but I would gladly slather this bad boy on constantly.... Beautiful!! I think I'm going to try to find some more imps of this to take with me to Australia!

Oh. My. Gosh. I wore my newly acquired Carnivale today and all I can say is YOWZA!!!! I'll go back a couple days though, to understand the reason for all the love! When I got it on Monday, I cracked open the bottle and all I could smell was Underpants! Yep, strange but true, and this really bummed me out, as Underpants was a nightmare on me!! But I tried it on my wrist and I was pleasantly surprised! I was wearing Pink Phoenix that day, so I had a harder time really appreciating it. Today I knew it'd be a Carnivale day and it just shot up into my top 5!! This is the perfect carnation scent. It's spicy but a touch powdery, which makes it cozy. The musk gives it a very 'lean in and inhale deeply' vibe and I felt a little saucy today, in my Carnivale cloud!!! The amber gave it a sweet, almost vanilla feel and I didn't get any berry, which was fine with me because I love carnation and wanted to really enjoy it without too much competition from rival scents!!!! If you love carnation, find a bottle. Fast!!! Don't walk, RUN!!!

BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?
purplegirl replied to beetiger's topic in Recommendations
MIDWAY!!!! how cool is a scent that brings back childhood memories, but on skin that has all that good stuff to look forward to??! way to go, you're making the world smell beautiful.. one body at a time!!! -
I don't know why it's taken me soooo long to review this one!! But it's in my top 3 favourite BPAL scents, it's that gorgeous!! It smells cozy, yet elegant. Yet at the same time, you could wear this and cuddle up on a fuzzy robe in front of your tv. It's what I wear when I want to feel pretty and grown up and it never lets me down!! Put is this way - if BPAL existed when I got married 12 years ago, I'd have worn Evening Star that day!!!Now THAT'S love!! Oh, how I wish I'd ordered more of this scent!!!! But it makes what I have all the more special!!

This is Pink Moon's show-offy, precocious but totally adorable little sister!!! Pink-red from the candy-sweet strawberry and vanilla and honeycomb, but the sweetpea is a really cool touch that makes it sweet strawberry candy with a little extra oomph!! Fun in a bottle!!!

I had such high hopes for this one!!! I kept looking at Beth's upcoming lunacies post and I'd almost rub my hands together in anticipation for this one!! When I finally got the C'n'S for this, it was all I could do to not sit out in front of my mailbox waitiing for the package!!!! In the bottle - gorgeous, all flowers and spring sweetness!! On my skin - gorgeous, all peony and sweet- what? why is my head pounding?! who put 1000watt lightbulbs in here??!! oh god, do i have food poisoning? i feel like throwing up! This my friends, was an express trip to Migraineville This is the first of 3 blends that have broken my heart in recent weeks!! But I'm glad she's off to a home where the love is flowing like wine!!!!
-
Oh my god, do I love this lunacy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly, I think this could have been a signature scent - if I had enough of it to wear every day!!! As it is, I'm going to wear this when I'm really, really hankering for some pink, musky goodness!!! When it first hits the skin, it's all strawberry, but not a bright shocking strawberry, but a soft-around-the-edges, mellowed by honey strawberry. It was sooo grown up and just sigh-worthy!! Once it dried-down, it was a gorgeous combo of strawberry, honey and carnation. If it was a colour, it would have been a dusty pink. This is an awesome blend!!!

SS isn't the zingy, gingery goodness that I thought it'd be, but it was a really pretty spring scent!! It was clean and wasn't too fussy, but it didn't last long at all!! Problem solved though, when I combined some SS with my body lotion, it was amazing all over! Then all I had to do was just reapply dabs of it wherever I wanted, but has a light body veil that somehow worked! This 5mL might go faster than I thought, just because it works so well with lotion and gives a nice light scent all day long

Pele - BPALese for 'soft gorgeous floral that will become a second-skin scent that will beckon your husband incessantly' This is amazing. Amazing, I tell you!!! I didn't know what to expect but the minute it hit my skin, the scent that wafted up was sooo beautiful. It was gentle, lovely and though the ginger didn't jump out at any point, it was a cozy, amazing-up-close scent. I couldn't smell it anymore, but my husband kept sniffing my neck and he just loved it. I wasn't looking for a floral - I've been on a sweet-foody kick lately - but I think I might have found the perfect floral in Pele

This scent is beautiful... it's crystalline and pure. I was hoping it was more gloomy and had a note that was intangibly.. foreboding. I don't know why, but it was a lot happier and cheerier than I hoped it would have been. I've got Sea of Glass, so I can pass on Olokun. I envy the person on the forum who's skin chemistry turns this into a lonely, desolate, gloomy scent!!

Obatala helped me figure out that while I like coconut, I'm better off eating it than wearing it because the same coconut note in Eden that made me *slightly* nauseous was present in Obatala. The sad thing is, underneath the coco-not, I could smell the creamy shea butter and it was gorgeous!!! I wish I could tolerate the coconut more!!!

I was soooo hopeful and half in lust when I read the description for Osun when it went live. I got my order last week and FINALLY tried Osun and I was heartbroken... It was sweet honey - with fresh mint leaves. If it was a colour, it was amber and green. Eventually, it went almost entirely green and leafy, and the honey didn't come back until a long, long time, and by then, the green had kicked me in the arse. I LOVE honey!! Why did the greenery have to chase her away?

I bought a bottle of Desdemona for one of my friends for Christmas, and even when I got it, I didn't test it on my skin, I opened it up, gave it a smell and thought, 'Wow, very nice! I'll order an imp at some point to try it out on myself'... 'At some point' became, well, never because I kept forgetting, and because LE's are a much more urgent, intoxicating and seducing venture, poor ol' Des got put further and further down on the list of 'haves'. Thankfully, the Lab put me on the Desdemona track, I got a frimp of the lady in one of my recent orders and she is AMAZING! I get pretty much no carnation, but the sweet pea and water lily are sooo gorgeous. I would never have thought a scent like this would be (for me) a 5ml'er, but I think this is a distinct and big possibility. Incidently, someone mentioned that there's a candy-like quality to this blend... when my husband caught whiff of this, he proclaimed it to be his favourite BPAL hands down. He said it reminded him of a candy he ate a TON of when he was a kid, but couldn't pin it down. Two days later, it hit him when he was at work, and called me at almost MIDNIGHT to tell me! He said that Desdemona is those crazy lollipops you used to get back in the day ('80's) they cost 10 cents, came unwrapped and were sort of like a Sweet Tart candy on a stick. They were round, and very powdery in texture? They came two toned. I remember them but never ate them (I funneled every dime I ever scrounged up into procurring gum and jawbreakers - I ate at least 4 a day - which explains why, later in life, I developed TMJ and had to have 3 jaw surgeries!! But I digress... Yes. Desdemona. Gorgeous! A must have, even in imp form, for everyone! (Same with jawbreakers)

I ordered an imp of Alice with my first ever BPAL order back in the fall, and I got my order in mid-to-late November. Since I'd picked her out when the weather was warmer a couple months previously, I wore her twice, and liked her a lot, but the impending winter stole some of her thunder, I think!! But I dug out this imp a couple weeks ago and fell in serious, earthshattering, all-consuming love with her. Alice reminds me of a really lovely bakery, in the springtime. When there are lots of cakes on display in cases, which are alternately creamy, decadent, zesty, luxuriant, sugary-sweet, in all sorts of colours - a parade of pinks, blues, greens, yellows and lilacs. This scent had a creaminess to it; that led to a zesty, zingy! phase; which became a gorgeous rose (and I have had ZERO luck with BPAL roses, my chemistry can be bitchy and demanding) I even got a vanilla-fudge-y phase which made me really, really hungry (a hunger that my white cheddar rice cakes didn't satisfy, funny enough!!!) I can't even say that I didn't like a certain phase, from wet to drydown, because they were each beautiful in their own way. I got a bottle of both Alice and Sudha Segara from Gale (I *heart* Gale for further developing the Alice-love!) and Alice has zoomed almost to the top of my favourites list.
