BPAL blends that remind us of Chanel perfumes
purplegirl replied to Rocky_Mountain_Home's topic in Recommendations
Hi there I've been wearing a bit of everything lately - a foody scent one day, a floral the next, something wintery and chilly after that - but I tried out an imp of Black Hellebore and it was a nice, feminite scent that was still a bit assertive.... The Evening Star is bloody GORGEOUS, but it's been put to bed now, but if you come across it, definitely worth a try. I'm wearing it right now (speak of the devil!) and my husband said it was really feminine but sexy... considering he normally just sort of smiles and nods when asked what he thinks of a BPAL scent, this was very encouraging!!! Good luck!!! lisa -
If Budding Moon had a bit more staying power, it would be a giant - a GIANT, I tell you!! First wearing today and it was just divine - it was flowery, and sugary, and fresh air-y and green, and sigh-worthy. It seemed shimmery - it constantly went back and forth between the different facets it has. A little kaleidescopic, in that it was constantly changing. I should have bought more bottles, because I can see wanting to smell like this for two weeks solid when I go to Brisbane this summer; but with it fading quicker than we wish it would, I can see finishing my bottle in less than `4 days!! WEH!

I got this as a gift-with-purchase from the Lab Thank you, Labbies!! I tried Dragon's Musk a couple months ago, and it wasn't me, sadly. It was very harsh and I got a migraine, which scared me when I got the Dragon's Hide imp.... I was kind of shying away from anything Arc Draconis! But, being so bloody enamoured of everything BPAL, I grabbed my guy and put some on him to try. Oh. My. God. This is what a guy should smell like!! It was rich and smokey, but yet it was punctuated by these flashes of light (to me) where the scent would get a little floaty and airy, then take you back to the smokey depths. My knees got weak more than a few times when I buried my nose in his neck. He needs a bottle of this!! Ok, I need for him to have a bottle of this, but who's keeping score?

I got a nice aged bottle of this a few days ago from AngelFireHeart I had an imp of this, and I lovedlovedloved the heck out of that imp so I was all over the opportunity to snag a bottle. I am soooo not sorry for being a total BPAL glutton and getting this, in addition to a LOT of recent acquisitions... The imp smelled just beautiful, sweet and thick, and if this is the scent of lilies, I'm in love!! The only florals I can readily identify with are lilac, carnation, tulip and rose. The lilies I've smelled (in arrangements) tend to smell a little like, umm, sausage, to my nose!! The bottle is even more lovely than the imp. It's got a little simmer-time in it, and it was even richer, sweeter and thicker (in scent, not consistency!). And for some reason, this smells like middle-of-July, smack-dab-in-the-swing-of-things summer - I think it's because my nose gets suntan lotion - really nice, silky, higher-end suntan lotion; and then there's the honey, which is summer encapsulated. I think that before the year is out (or prior to any discontinuation of Tiger Lily) this will be a 10mL purchase for sure!!! *swooning* lise

Holiday Moon - in a word, GORGEOUS!! disclaimer- i do not usually like orange or grapefruit scents, i actually can't stand the smell of orange on someone's hands and you'd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING orange-scented in my house!!! that being said, i fell flat on my arse when i smelled this mandarin-scent wafting up from my wrist... and found myself salivating immediately! Beth, how do you do that magic that you do??! i have never smelled a citrus-y scent that i wish i could bite into. this mandarin stage lasted quite a while, it became tempered with (i think) the bamboo which gave it feeling that i can only describe as 'hopeful'... such an optimistic scent, and a very good choice for this time of year when SADD can knock you for a loop!! the drydown was very floral and soft, i wish it has as much throw as the hopeful phase!! i wishwishwish i had bought more bottles of this. if ever there was a keeper... wait, i can't finish that, i have to kick my own arse one more time... lise

Snake Oil. yowza! why oh why do i only have an imp of this?? *adding this to wishlist and placing it pretty close to the top* i think that Beth should just call it the name it screams out - SEX OIL!! i wore it to work and i got very little work actually done, as i had people continually asking what i was wearing. i had the imp on me and everyone had a dab of it on their wrists. thank goodness it was friday because i don't think anyone got any work done - all i saw was a whole lotta wrist-to-face action!!! i get throbbing, hot vanilla-on-spicy-goodness-on-musk vibes. it smelled sooo different in the vial, i'm glad i gave it a shot, sooo worth it!! the proof was in the pudding - my husband couldn't stay away

i'd been sooo curious about Antique Lace, even though i wasn't sure if it was a 'me' scent, so i was all over it when it was re-released. i am ridiculously happy that i bought a 5mL of it unsniffed. i tend to be a bit of a.. well, let's just say that if perfumes were boys, i'd be a slut!! however, Antique Lace, was just the right thing to wear for a grown up, confident and altogether lovely air about one's person. it's really creamy on me, and i got an floral that reminded me a tad of cherry blossom for sheer creamy-dreaminess!! and on me, i love to wear it with my marshmellow body butter from Sephora. i think this is such a lovely blend that i can see giving it to the gals in my life - my mom and my sis. it's just *swoon* it's beautiful

justjustjust got my hands on my Snow Moon, (yayyyy!!!!) and having read all the reviews, I was prepared either for the worst, or the extreme opposite, in that i might very well skip the heavy pine/birch notes and land smack dab in the middle of some lovely florals... what happened was a nice place in the middle of my expectations. i do get a heavy pine/wintery tree smell, but it's a lot crisper than Snow Bunny, and (luckily) without the citrus note. (i do like Snow Bunny a lot, just figures the one scent i don't like - citrus, particularily orange - has a habit of just AMPING up and cloaking me. stop mocking me, vile oranges!!) it took a while to mellow - but i did finally get some very pretty flowers that smelled a little bit like my wedding bouquet!! i only wish that the flowery stage had a *teeny* bit more throw, so everyone around me could smell how pretty it is!!! Snow Moon is cold, shivery, pristine and crisp - like walking my dogs in the still of the night following the first real snowfall of winter!! not bad at all, a keeper:-)

thank you thank you thank you to all the people who've responded. i am a tool. it's official! methinks my Yule order might be fashionably late (weh!) as my first order was, for some stupid reason, held/detained for almost 3 weeks once it hit the Canadian border.... boo on Canada Post!!! maybe it's not such a bad thing... but i changed my paypal account's primary address right after i placed my Yule order, so any correspondence will go the old dud email, so thanks to you guys i was able to figure that out!!! in my foggy head, i thought that you had to send something to someone using the tags in the Click'n'Ship thread, i kept mousing over the Canadian order tag to find the sweet spot that would get me a C'n'S again, thanks for all the info!!

hi there everyone this is a strange, weird, silly question, but i was wondering if anyone could help me out with something... i'm trying to check on the status of my order, and I found the Click'n'Ship tags, but, sadly, I have no idea how to use them or how to get an email notification that could give me an idea of when my order was/will be sent out! i did email the Lab but they must be running around at lightspeed trying to get everything in order before the biggie, December 24th! can anyone give a newbie a hand? i'd really appreciate a good shove in the right direction! thanks for reading! lise

hi all *waves* i'm new to posting here on the forum, but i just wanted to add my two bits in! i received my first order of imps a couple weeks back and i've had a chance to wear all of them for the last two weeks, and while 90% of them were amazing (two didn't sit right on me, so if anything, the scents were amazing.. me, not so much!) Bathsheba stood out from the gang for me. in the vial, it smelled completely of plum to my nose. as carnations are my favourite flowers (with lilacs a close second) my heart dropped a little bit when i didn't pick up on the carnation on first whiff. but once on the skin, the plum did a quick solo and took a back seat to a ridiculously sexy tango of carnation and the sweet, sweet musk. it lasted for the entire day and there was a sexy yet cheeky vibe to the scent. as it sat on the skin, it morphed into a much more intimate scent, one of those scents that would whisper to you, then when you leaned in for a closer listen, it just grabbed you! thank you Lab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
