this was so uniquely lovely while wet; a very potent, wet rose and a subtle citrus note (what i am guessing is the tea!). once on me, though? it becomes very powdery, eventually morphing into a dirty rose scent. carnation usually does very well on me, but i think in this combination it is the very thing tricking me into thinking this smells dirty. i'm crushed, too, because i REALLY had high hopes for this one. alas.

this smells dusty-sweet to me in the imp, &although i think i've been a bpal fan long enough to be able to sometimes detect individual notes, i cannot pick them out in this one for the life of me. it's just a beautiful dusty sweetness! once on, however; ahhh, something i recognize. the bright, fresh scent of berries peeking out. mygod, this is so gorgeous, &it's no wonder as it contains some of my favourite notes; tea, berries, musk . . . a sexy, sensual scent, sweet, dark berry & musk, and it lasts a long while on me. i'm almost embarrassed to admit that i'm unsure of what sage smells like, but if it's coming through, it's beautiful! there is just nothing about this oil that i don't love. a definite keeper. ♥.

frimp from the lab!! this one is very sweet & powdery on me; it's beautiful, but i think it might be a little too sweet for my nose.
-
i don't get any rose in this at all; in the imp, it's all sharp, herbal lavender, and once on it blossoms into a lovely, sweetened, almost powdery perfume. it's beautiful, definitely, but no rose for me! &a little too commercially perfumey for my tastes. on to the next!

this is lovely, definitely chocolatey chocolate! but as a prior reviewer said, "it has a grainy note - like the most expensive cocoa you can get-" and that's it precisely. it smells, to me, just like a dusty, smooth&creamy good quality cocoa. so yum.
-
subtle spice & vanilla; it is sweet and lovely, really - i can absolutely see(smell!) the appeal of this one - sadly, though, it reminds me too much of any number of commercial vanilla perfumes that my sinuses just can't handle. i am all saddened, too! i'm attracted to most things morocco and really wanted this one to work! le sigh. perhaps it will find a better home when i gift the boyfriend's sister with it this coming halloween.

A mysterious, enigmatic blend of dry, mellow rosewood, crushed rose leaf and the slightest touch of warm hazel. wet, this is very sharp and green, something with an herbal bite! it's interesting and very intriguing, and i was curious as to what it might become once on my skin, but alas. although i love rose, this one just became a plain (but potent!) baby powder on me. maybe it will find its love in its next home!
-
wow, at first whiff? this is a gorgeous juicy, tart berry! the rose is very faintly there, but my first impression is without question all about the pomegranate. already i am in love, but then the rose comes through more strongly, and just. mmmmm. i don't think this one could be any more perfect? it does fade to become a mainly rose scent, but fortunately i adore my roses, so it's absolutely a good match, and a definite keeper!

this one is definitely rose for me, a powdery rose, but there is also a sour note; not an unpleasant sour note, exactly, more like the sour scent you get off of dried flowers. (reading some of the other reviews, i'm wondering if maybe i'm not just picking up on the lemon note that others are getting? hmm!) all in all, i really like this one. i'm not sure if i'll be keeping it seeing as how i'm a rose freak and have so many rose bpal scents already but i may. it's growing on me by the minute! &i do love me some black cats . . .

candyish, golden, floral, spicey; all of these came to mind when first sniffing & trying this one on. unfortunately, however, i am beginning to think that amber does not play well on me, and this oil furthers that suspicion. it's a lovely scent, but something in there is just too heavy for my stomach. off to a better home!

ohmygod. i lovelovelove wanton so much, i cannot possibly sing enough praises for it. it really is feminine sexuality in an oil, all rose and incense; it is the perfect blend for someone like me. big bottle list for sure.
-
I had high hopes for this one simply because I have such an affinity for Bast, but alas. While I still love the goddess, I can't say that the namesake oil very much loves me. It's a nice enough scent, very full, incensey & sensual, but something went a little too nauseatingly foody on me. It's really unfortunate, but oh well. Off to swaps it is!
-
i'm not exactly sure what wisteria smells like, but i love me some rose, and this, on me, is definitely rose. the lilac is there as well, just beyond the roses, softening and sweetening this oil into a very feminine, very victorian heady cloud of beautiful florals. &of course, i love it.
-
oh, this is just beautiful. sweet and dusty, but tempered by something old and sacred. i love it. just like that. ♥.

a sweet, dusty floral that turned sweet, powdery floral on the skin. it really is a very baby powder kind of scent! even the fella remarked, once i'd tried it on and sat next to him on the sofa, "what smells like baby powder?" there's a sweet floral that remains in there as well, and all in all it is a beautiful perfume. however, i've quite a few other bpal scents that are similar, so i think i'll be ushering this one off to a new home.

this is so beautiful. right out of the imp, it is very light and airy, a fresh innocence. i don't generally attribute colours to my scents, either, but this one definitely feels white, perhaps because of whatever it is that is making this feel so innocent. gorgeous. despite my having been a part of the bpal craze for some time now, i still could not tell you what narcissus or opium or poppy smell like! sigh. but i definitely smell my beloved lilies in this! <3 <3 <3 and once on my skin, this beautiful oil blooms into a warm and exotic spicy floral. "spice and lilies!" is the very thing i kept repeating in my head. just absolutely lovely, and definitely a new favourite. ETA: trying this on some time later, i had forgotten all of what was in this oil and kept thinking, "mmmm, there's definitely jasmine in here." apparently there isn't, but something sure feels jasminey to me! just a very sultry, lush hothouse bloom kind of scent. &still gorgeous!!

“The Pretty Era”, France’s Golden Time: an age of beauty, innovation and peace in France that lasted from the 19th Century through the first World War and gave birth to the cabaret, the cancan, and the cinema as well as the Impressionist and Art Nouveau movements. Sweet opium, Lily of the Valley, vanilla, mandarin and red sandalwood. a lovely, pleasant and sweet floral perfume, but once on my skin? it turns into something a little too heavy for me to really stomach. i'm not sure what opium smells like, but i can smell the vanilla, and there's also a wonderful spice note here - and the throw is almost beautiful enough to make me reconsider! - but i know my nose/stomach, and this is unfortunately one of those oils that will never sit well on me. perhaps it is the vanilla/mandarin combination, as it seems that the bpal perfume oils with those two notes in it always seem to go heavy/foody in an unpleasant way on me. alas. off to a better home! ETA: just wanting to note for my future self (in case i come back to remind myself of what i thought about this oil!), the throw eventually starts giving me an unpleasant hairspray note after a while! i'm baffled, as i have only ever gotten that out of oils with jasmine in it, but there it is. alas times two!

beautiful! sweet & fruity in the imp, warming into a (somewhat commercial-smelling) vanilla perfume once on my skin. i generally loathe most commercial vanilla perfumes (they prickle unpleasantly at my sinuses), but after about ten minutes something spicy comes through and makes it a little more sexy and exotic. the throw, though, occasionally still smells like that vanilla perfume on me. the scent as a whole reminds me of something that i just can't put my finger on right now, and it's driving me a little nuts! but it is definitely a beautiful scent, sweet, floral, almost candy-like with a spicy undertone. because of the peek-a-boo vanilla perfume note, i'm not sure that this one is an oil i will keep, but it is tempting. we shall see! ETA; a couple of hours later, &i am pretty sure this one will be going into the swap pile. it really is lovely, but it's slowly morphing into a kind of foody scent on me, one of those foody scents that i just can't tolerate, unfortunately. perhaps it will make some other bpal fan happy!

rose. gorgeous, sweet rose. heady and beautiful, lush, clean rose. &as a girl who cannot get enough rose? i am in heaven. the spices come out after a little while; they seem to be very subtle on me, but they are making this pure rose a small bit more interesting and exotic. either way, it's just beautiful, &i love it.

oh, delicious. this one is very almond/cherry to me in the vial. on me, though, it practically disappears! i get faint little whiffs of something very subtle and sweet, something lightly spicy/musky and beautiful, but it hides away the minute i attempt to hunt around for it on my skin. not much throw and not much staying power, but crazily enough i could smell it on my arms the next morning. perhaps hecate was simply feeling moody? i'm definitely giving it another chance and hoping for more of a presence from her this time, because what i could get of this scent was just gorgeous, and i'd love to keep it.
-
this one was very peculiar to me on my first whiff. it was a little bit of lily and a whole lot of ... something. is that the spicy everyone keeps noting? because it is a spicy scent, but not at all like the kind of spice my nose is generally used to. this one is a kind of ... bitter spicy? one that is very scratchy in my sinuses. that strange spice is not unpleasant, but it's not exactly a me scent, either, so i was very happy that it melted away once applied to my skin. i love lily, despite it sometimes smelling a little soapy on me, and i am thrilled to find the lily blooming in all its lush and heady splendor now. this has a very nice throw as well; just sitting here typing i am catching beautiful whiffs of it. and it appears the spiciness earlier did not melt entirely away but instead morphed into a much more attractive (to me!) spice note. something a little more brown sugar and a little less scratch&bite, although make no mistake, there is still a lot of scratch and bite to this flower. something here is also striking me as sharp and herbal, almost medicinal, but i am only catching it up close next to the skin. what an incredibly strange and intriguing oil! i am unsure yet whether or not we make a good couple, voodoo lily and i, but provided it doesn't take any nasty turns i can absolutely see this growing on me. as well, i love all things strange and intriguing, so this relationship looks promising. for now.

viola is a very strong floral, mostly a beautiful rose and heady lily on me. as it dries, something powdery comes out, a shimmery blanket which sweetens everything up and tempers the sharp, full scent of the lily a bit. god, this is lovely.

ohmygod, this is beyond lovely. definite cocoa hints from the imp, but once on it unfurls a bit. i'm noting a lot of people saying that it smells like cherry cola to them, or dr. pepper, and i can see why. however, to my nose: there is a gum from my childhood that was labeled as dr. pepper gum. it came in packages of five individually wrapped squarish bits, and it was filled with a thick candied liquid (also "dr. pepper" flavoured). this oil, on my skin, smells exactly like that gum (with a hint of cocoa), and it. is. gorgeous. just beautiful and delicious and yum, and i am so despondent that it's not a GC. but also it does not seem to last very long on me, but with a smell-good that smells this good, i wouldn't mind slathering! i definitely must get my hands on more of this.
-
this smells very herbal to me in the imp, but sweetly so, as small roses in an herb garden. &once on, mygod, this is so so gorgeous. soft, sweet rose & a spicy wood scent, exotic and beautiful. this just may become my signature scent. love.

i get the exact same first impression of nailpolish. ("wow, it does smell like nailpolish!") once i put it on, however, it sweetens up and that nailpolish smell disappears. there's a dryness to it and something also perfumey. not what i was expecting at all, to be honest! i had great fears that this one would turn out like darkness, which was just atrocious on me. to my pleasant surprise, this is really quite beautiful. someone mentioned that to them it smelled like a men's cologne, but it seems far more unisex to me, definitely something i would wear myself (&this coming from a girly girl, although i hate that phrase). i get a gorgeous sweet dryness of hay and dry grass but no nightmares, no scorched, barren fields. more of a prairie scene, in my mind. this reminds me a bit of coyote, which i heart all over the place, so that's a good thing, but it is wholly different from coyote. the prairie scene to coyote's desert, but they share that dry, sweet grass smell. yum. scarecrow also reminds me of something i just can't put my finger on, maybe a perfume that someone i once knew used to wear or a kind of makeup i used to use. it's driving me nuts because it's so familiar. all in all, a lovely light to medium throw and a sort of sweet, musky perfume spilled onto dry hay. i really like this one.
