    Venus

Sort of a musty, minted rose. Very pleasant, in a powdery way. I can definately see this as a planet. I don't know that I'll wear her, but she's living in my imp box until I figure out what I want from her. She's dry now, and less musty, less powdery. Its still a dry rose, and very lovely. I'm glad I have her.

    Harvest Moon 2004

In the bottle, Harvest Moon stank of wood. Like turning over a termite log or something. Leaves. Woods in fall. And oats. On, it went soapy, like a woody, leafy, oaty soap. I was afraid that I was going to have to pass this one on - I like soap in the shower, but not so much as a body scent. After about 10 minutes, though, it became beautiful. Like the hint of the changing weather, and the leaves are just getting red at the edges. It's been about 40 minutes since I slathered it on (see why I was afraid that I'd dislike it? Slathering = commitment) and I can't find it anywhere I put it with my nose. I'm getting *something* delightful, but it's very faint. I'll try it again in a week or so and see if my chemistry likes it better then.

    Glasya

I tried Glasya when it first arrived, and I liked it enough to put in my big imp box, but I've never *worn* her. Until today. Ohmyyes. Spicy powdery rose with bite. When it was wet, the cinnamon tone of the dragon's blood and the musk overpowered everything, but as it dried, the rose got stronger, and everything balanced out. I don't know about a big bottle - but this imp is moving up to the front of the box where she won't be forgotten.
  4. No verbal compliments, but Persephone (and now Bewitched!) have gotten me lots of yummy attention.

    Danube

I've had this in my imp box for a while - I tried it, liked it, and then forgot about it. Chose it today not-quite-randomly, and ohmy, am I glad I did! It's wonderfully cool, sparkling blue. Grapefruity and not too sweet on me. When I was wallking to the train, I kept getting these wafts of something marvelous, and thought it was the woman in front of me, but I kept smelling it when I was past her, and realized that it was ME! Danube is getting moved from the back of the box where it's been hiding to the front, where the scents I wear most often are. ETA: I put this on at 9 am, topped off at 3 in the afternoon, and it's past midnight now and I can still smell it. This is the longest lasting BPAL I've tried yet. I think I'm in love.

    Rapture

I've loved this one since I got it as an imp forever and a half ago. I have no idea why I never wrote it up. If I hadn't seen it listed in the notes, I'd never have guessed that there is rose in here. The jasmine and myrrh are by far the strongest notes on me. The first few hours, I'm in my own little cloud of jasmine, and finally the myrrh takes over, making me feel candylike. I feel womanly, rather than feminine.

    Nephilim

Despite the oakmoss (asthma in a bottle. Bah.), I completely adore this. It's figgy and dark (I'm attributing that to the vetiver), dry and rich. It smells like a heavy wool sweater feels. It smells wonderful on me, not too masculine, but I bet it would smell amazing on a man. I feel like I should save this for deep, rainy days, but I won't - I don't know that I could buy a bottle (that whole keep breathing thing), but I will definately use up my imp.

    Come to Me

On me, this has the faintest hint of rose - as if I was wearing rose perfume hours and hours ago, and while it's melted off, there's a teensy hint of it. Or I washed my hands with rose soap. It's subtle, and fades fast. Which is a shame, as I like it. It smells pink. Milled soap or a full glass of water with two drops of red food coloring. Faintly pink. Definately something to keep in the arsenal when my standard techniques fail. I don't know if I want a whole bottle of this - it isn't something I'd wear often, but I think I will try to always keep an imp around.

    Amber Bottles vs Other Colors

The only problem with those is that I'd feel compelled to display them somewhere - no cool darkness (well, unless they were on my work desk with the rest of the collection). *giggle*

    The smell of night

If you can get it, Rose Red smells cold. I second Envy, though that's more 'breeze in the shade on the porch' than 'October night.'

    Where is this scent?

Oh, I hope it's back *soon* - I got a sample of it in my most recent order, and I'm utterly in love.

    June Gloom 2004

In the bottle: This smells like the lemon dishsoap my grandmother always used. I used to add glycerin and a teeny bit of water, and use it to blow bubbles with. On: Whoops. lemon pledge. It smells like a Sunday afternoon, stuck inside doing housework. If I get myself an oil burner, maybe I'll hang onto this. It'd do nicely as a room scent. Drying: Less lemony. This is a very good thing. Almost a spicy floral. Still yellow, though. Dry: Very faint, quite lovely. The lemon stages aren't very pleasant for me, but if I can make it though, the dry scent is wonderful.

    Bliss

I wasn't really going to try this - opened the imp, confirmed "yep, that's chocolate. It smells like a cookie.", but curiosity got the better of me, and onto the back of my hand it went. It dries to a powdery chocolate smell on me - like a chocolate-scented marker I used to have. If you like smelling like chocolate, you'll love this. Until I took a bath and finally got it off me, the cravings were so bad that I had two big spoonfuls of the hot fudge that I'm supposed to be saving for dessert tomorrow.

    Scarecrow

As soon as this hit my skin, all I could envision was this painting. I'm not getting the fresh green that other people are, though it's a comforting scent (unlike that painting, which always gave me the creeps.) If this had a touch of bayberry, it would be the smell of my paternal grandparents' house when I was growing up. They were surrounded by cornfields belonging to the neighbor's dairy farm.

    Blood Rose

In the bottle: On, I can smell that wine all right! On: Ohmy. This is decadent. Silky rose is exactly the word for it. Wow. Drying: this is NOT a daytime scent - I don't put much stock in night/day scents (I wear what feels right, regardless of the hour), but this is something to annonit oneself with only at night, while dressed in something slinky. Dark, heady. Delicious. I'm thinking that a 5ml of this is in my future.

    Bloodlust

In the bottle: Musky, with a little bit of dragonsblood. On, Wet: About the same. The dragonsblood is slightly more prevalent. I would love this on a man, and I think that my current is going to be umm... encouraged to try it. A little spicy, a little dragonsbloody. Very nice. Drying : Slightly confusing scent - it's pleasant, but doesn't seem to know where it wants to go. I'll try it on the boy and see if it responds to his chemistry any better. Dry: The slightest hint of bitter, with almost a metallic bite. It's very unisex on me - I don't know if I'm keeping it or not - I like it, but I don't know what mood it would suit.

    Envy

In the bottle: Sharp and herbal. On, wet: like weeding the herb section of the garden without the soil. Minty, green, biting. It's a little tingly on my skin, actually. Dry: Very clean. It doesn't last on me, unfortunately. This will be a wonderful summer scent for when I'm overheated and not feeling particularly girly. I might have to get a bottle of this.

    Goneril

Wet: Almost citrus in brightness. This would be an amazing soap. Dry: I thought this was just going to be another nice light scent, but not a standout, but I was *wrong* - this is divine. There's a lemon-like intensity to it. Fresh and clean. It'd be perfect for days that no matter how often you shower, you still feel gucky. I need to try this as a room scent, too.

    Greed

Wet: Mmm. Oakmoss. Earthy. Athsma-inducing. Damn. We'll see if this develops - the water is off (hot water heater is getting replaced this morning) so I can't go wash it off. Nope. Still causing severe tightening of the sinuses and lungs by the smell alone. Into the swap pile, then. Wish I could give it a proper try.

    Inferno

Wet: Almond! I smell like a cookie. The almond dies down very quickly, thankfully. I really don't like smelling like baked goods. It's gone to a bitter, bright cinnamon. Nice. I've smelled this before. And I've pegged the scent. It's the cinnamon almond scent that permeates the Dicken's Faire, but less sweet.

    Pulse Points

Wet: Very perfumy. Rather heady. I hope I like this one, because the imp spat when I opened it and got my dress and keyboard. On: It smells like something very expensive and ritzy that my grandmother would wear. Dry: This one doesn't seem to change much. Not sure if that's a good sign or bad. I imagine that it'd drive guys wild - it's that kind of scent, but it isn't really me.

    Rakshasa

In the bottle: It smells like tea. On: Oh yum! Three notes that I enjoy, combined beautifully. It smells like a combination of the incenses I usually burn. Dry: Where'd it go? Very subtle. I literally have to be looking for it with my nose to smell it. It's lovely, though I'd like it more if it were stronger.

    Sybaris

In the bottle: Hard to describe, but not promising. On, wet: Sweet! Smells like violet gum tastes, with a good backing of clove. Drying: The clove is gone. It's almost all violet. Far less sweet. Dry: It's sweetened up again. It's not as violently so, but it's still sweet in a way that doesn't work on me. Slightly soapy. Still, very nice, and I think a few of my friends will adore it. Some serious staying power, too.

    Wicked

In the bottle: hard-edged jasmine. On: Rich. Dark. Has the same candy note that makes my teeth itch that Lust has. It must be the myrrh. I can see myself wearing this when I'm in one of my more sadistic moods. Dry: Oh yes. Lovely. It smells like something I've worn recently, though I don't know which. Rosey and Jasminey and floral and good. I don't know about a bottle, but I'm definately keeping the imp.

    Wanton

Wet: Oh. Lovely! Rosy, femmy, but strong. "Don't get in my way - I'm a girl and I can kick you despite the lace." Drying: Sophisticated rose. It seems to be staying fairly close to the skin. Sort of an incensey rose. A keeper.
