Oil recommendations for studying, learning, exams
Amberfishy replied to summer's topic in Recommendations
I'm really looking forward to Cheshire Cat arriving in my mailbox, because I used to have some grapefruit essential oil that I used as a room scent for studying and it really helped me, so I'm thinking anything with grapefruit should motivate me. I find motivation and concentration my main problems with studying. Oh, and this forum... -
Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

I'd say it's the sweetened vanilla giving you that smell. I rather love snake oil but can only do O occasionally because it's too cloying. I'm not sure what people mean by smelling like sex- personally, it's not something I WANT to find in a perfume bottle so is there a difference between "makes me want sex" and "actually smells LIKE sex"??? -
I tried to get into this scent, really I did, but it disturbs me a little so I can't wear it However, this perfume really does do justice to the concept it was named after. On first sniff, I get a dirty, uncomfortable yet curious-enough-to-know-what-the-grownups-are-doing kind of vibe. I heard a lot of comparisons to Snake Oil but the scent I feel this one is most similar to out of the ones I’ve tried so far is Enraged Oranged Musk- I guess it shares a small host of the musks that played a part in the monkey musk. I’m not getting much of a Snake-Oil similarity vibe on me, Snake Oil is spicey and sweet where this one is dirty and seedy. The sugar mellows it out a bit and once it’s on, there’s some boozy floater notes that are giving me a kind of "bad night out" vibe.

First whiff in the bottle, this one has a lovely scent but it's artificial to me and I'm recalling something from my childhood. I'm getting some kind of aquatic association, and also a type of plastic which I absolutely adore the smell of. You know the smell of blow up swimming pools, pvc pencil cases, that kind of thing? People are saying things like cherries but I'm getting that awesome plastic smell. Hehe I think it's great. Maybe it's just my own associations playing a part here; of a clear blue swimming pool, soft grasses, and feeling clean and bright. There's something in this 'crisping it up'. On my skin, here comes the jasmine. As it dries down, it mellows out and the floral notes are playing with something else that is keeping it grounded. Overall I think this is a lovely scent that brings to mind a crisp, clear and sparkling pale blue colour. I'd love to know the other notes in this blend. This is a nice scent but it doesn't suit me to the point where I feel I need a whole bottle, so I'll probably be passing this one on.

When I first pictured the concept of this imp I imagined a field after a great battle, and a bloody sword thrust into wet clods of earth. Reading the scent description, I thought I’d really like it. Now I’ve tried it, it’s a really great scent! In the bottle I can smell primarily the mandarin and the tobacco. Once applied onto my skin it rounds out beautifully. It’s quite herbal, but it’s warmed by the saffron, tea and cocoa scents. I could picture a man wearing this, it’s quite a fresh, clean, yet warm scent, but it can easily be worn by a woman as well.

First I would just like to say I am so overjoyed at this scent! When I sniff it, I can exactly picture the forest where Jabberwocky & Co. live. This scent is deep jungle green with splashed of ruby red, purple and pink. It’s a little exotic and very lush. In the bottle it’s quite sweet, almost like some kind of hard candy. I can smell the floral notes quite distinctly too. Once on my wrist the plum comes into power and the notes play together well. The scent is a robust, juicy floral that has enough spice to give it an edge. This is a great scent for many occasions, and once again I just love the concept and I am so happy the way the notes fit it so well.

I love love love Ultraviolet! I was always curious about this scent because the colour is so harsh and I was curious to see what scent would come out of it. In the bottle, it’s a sharp scent, mostly the eucalyptus and mint playing on each other with a little something else. Once applied on the skin the violet and neroli comes out to sweeten things up. This perfume is unique in that it gives a clean sharpness that is friendly- as in no headaches- with the beautiful sweetness of the violet to round things off. It’s so purple and pretty much kick ass. I can’t really describe it in any other way than just picture a bowl of violets under ultraviolet light. It’s electric and interesting so high ratings from me for uniqueness factor. Me loves.

Peony, plum blossom, water reeds and soft Asian woods. Peony Moon is my first lunacy blend and I got it for myself as a birthday present. I am quite pleased to report I am very happy with it. Peony Moon is a lovely, fresh and pink floral with some other notes that ground it down a little. It’s very much “spring”. It’s nanna friendly, that is, you can wear it around your nanna without offending her BUT you won’t smell like a nanna either (which is what Peitho did to me). I needed an all-purpose, inoffensive and youthful floral that wasn’t too pale-princess and this is it happy me.

I am very much enjoying my bottle of munky musk so far!! In the bottle, it's lovely and quite edible. I can really smell the green here and I can detect the orange peel too. I'm really in the jungle right now. Once it dries down this stuff really comes into its own. The musk comes out and swirls around my head and I'm projecting quite a bit here, it has quite a throw but not TOO overpowering. I'm not sure what ambergris is supposed to smell like but... I'm giving off a bit of a funky hippy vibe but it's lovable in it's own way. Very growly and quite addictive!

Snake Oil is love!!! This is hands down my most favourite oil that I have tried to date. It wraps you up and makes you feel loved, like you're someone special. I can curl up with a bit of snake oil on and feel very happy in my own skin, it gives me a lot of confidence and comfort. It's sexy, spicey and edible at the same time. I love it so much, there is definetely going to be a big bottle of this on my next order.

Highwayman... wow. I got it as a freebie in my first lab order and as soon I sniffed it, I thought HOWDY this is all man. Extremely masculine. The main note which I'm guessing is vetiver is extremely overpowering and I can really smell the leather. As to the florals, well I never got to meet them until it dried down quite a bit but really this is so smokey, so damn masculine, it really erm, stands and delivers. I slathered it all over my man and I probably put too much on him because he complained of a headache from it shortly after. Wearing it on myself was a little strange at first and I'm not quite comfortable with it but it's such a fascinating and sexy scent so I'll be keeping the imp for the odd sniff methinks.

Dragon's Heart is lovely and earthy and RED, it's warm and full of life and I don't mind snuggling right into it, it's like the resin oozing out of an ancient tree. As it dries down it leaves a nice creamy and spicey scent that still has a faint musky kick. Quite a satisfying scent.

I got this in an imp because I wanted to smell like a pirate!! Although I expect real pirates would stink pretty bad but where is the romance in that. Perhaps the ocean smells different in my part of the world but this does not come across oceany or salty at all. Aquatic yes, it's a light blue smell, but not that cleansing, ultimate power of nature kind of smell that I was hoping for. In the bottle the rum and the leather are detectable and it's quite delicious, once it's on my skin though, it transforms into a crisp clean smell, it's cool but a little stereotypical, resembling a lot of the aquatic men's colognes out there. There's no devilry or adventure in this scent, and it disappears quite fast. Oh well.

I was especially intrigued by this scent as I have always been a bit of a cat worshipper and by the reviews here I thought Bastet could very well be something that I could identify with and wear often and always!! In the bottle Bastet is sugar sweet with the familiar marzipan goodness that I don't mind. However as soon as I apply it to skin it transforms. It reminds me of a warm spring day luxuriating on the sandy hot pavement with my fluffy belly facing outwards and paws outstretched. It's sexy, spicy, warm, golden and friendly. I've ordered a 5mL and Bastet. Me loves!

I was looking forward to White Rabbit the most out of my first little order of imps. I was not disappointed! In the bottle, it's a lovely, creamy strong tea with a hint of lemon and sweetness. I am really picturing a whiteness, a sense of Englishness. A lovable, homely scent that's different and altogether endlessly intriguing. On my skin the notes blend nicely and it sits well. There's a bit of green in it, it's all white kid gloves and flat manicured lawns and cast iron dining garden settings. I love my tea and I love this scent!!!
