Bottle: mmm, the patchouli and vetiver are present in equal portion at first sniff - I like the smell of vetiver in the bottle, wish it didn't have such a tendency to go wrong on me. (still - I sally forth and try again! onward ho!) Wet: vetiver already overtaking the patchouli, but not completely. not yet, that is. Dry: vetiver in the lead but the patchouli isn't totally out of the race. Later: and it's vetiver by a nose! *sigh*

Bottle: thick nectar, mainly the tuberose and lilac. not heady sweet, but opaque Wet: lilac edging forward - like standing with my face buried in a lilac bush, an old-fashioned variety, at full bloom Dry: the tuberose and lilac give this an air of eau d'old lady, but the violet saves it for me, so far although it is on the heady-side. Later: faded fast, but a nice violet overall. maybe not my favorite violet...the scent of quietude.
-
Bottle: moonflower is here, and the violet. soft and dark floral. Wet: I can catch the barest hint of a fruity note - is that plum? Dry: no incense yet, but at least the night time flowers aren't amping on me, as they have sometimes been known to do.. Later: little incense, but it is is a fruity floral I think I can pull off.
-
Bottle: sweet, definitely youthful, almost little-girl play cosmetic set smelling... Wet: candy-sweet. no powder yet. Dry: getting sweeter, as in oddly headachey. these always seem to do this to me... Later: candy, no powder. headache. *sigh*
-
Bottle: fresh green herbal. Wet: a sharpness to the green, almost aquatic-sharp. Dry: both sharper and growing somewhat powdery. I wish the musk would make more of an appearance, though. Later: interesting, fresh ... and transparent like the edges of a mirage - a shimmering green dream.
-
Bottle: sweet opium and lotus. Wet: same, possibly sweeter. And sharp. Dry: same, with an almost-plasticky, er, something going on. Later: I admit I was a little concerned about the opium but threw caution to the wind... This, very clearly, Does Not Like Me.

The Best BPAL scents for young girls through teenagers
juniperus replied to Dulci's topic in Recommendations
What they said. And depending on the teen (ie: 13 v. 19) those lighter scents may still be in play, although with the joy of hormones who knows what will and won't smell good. -
Sunny and bright herbal with floral. Lovely dandelion. On, it's like Roadhouse without the ack ack notes that ruined that for me. Must keep this away from the kids - both love Roadhouse for the dandelion. Fades to a soft freshness, still very yellow.
-
First sniff: Orange Crush. Second sniff: no... baby aspirin - there is a bitterness here. Bitterness increases on my skin, a bitter green/ floral under the citrus. Bottom note that I can't identify can't compete with the bitter quality to whatever note dislikes me so. Just grows increasingly sharp.
-
Sweet in a fruity-medicinal kind of way. Some note here doesn't care for me, as it's getting very sour and unpleasant. There must be jasmine here - there is sickly-sweet floral ampage afoot. ADDED August 29: Fruity sweetness, with underlying pale floral. I'm not sure which floral, but it seems to be one I amp considerably.
-
Sweet coconut with a hint of citrus - like a macaroon with a lemon candy on the side. very pale notes..I almost get almond, but it might just be the coconut. (you put the lime in the coconut...) The lemon sours affect is surpassing the macaroon. I like both lemon sours and macaroons, but not together, and not on my arm.

Bottle: an exceptionally vanilla floral Wet: all vanilla. let the amping begin! Dry: still all vanilla. and it's morphing into that uber-sweet fakey-smell I have grown to..well, not love - despise, actually. Later: and it's a unanimous...flop. I wish I wouldn't abuse the vanilla. Or it wouldn't abuse me. Or whatever...
-
Bottle: a chill, transparent floral musk. very chill. Wet: same wet. so far, so good. Dry: helloooo cereus. oh drat, and I was so looking forward to this one, too. please stop amping. please? Later: dueling amps - cereus and jasmine. I think I'd prefer dueling banjos, if I had to choose. cloying and... damnitdamnitdamnit.
-
Bottle: slightly sharp floral (lavender?), with a bottom note that's not quite clear yet. Wet: that bottom is the leather. hints of the oakmoss. none of the amber or rose or incense. Dry: oh, that cheeky leather. it's amping, and that floral is an enabler. none of the notes I love best, of course, have made an appearance. crappit. Later: hints of the incense, but most everything is hidden behind a near-opaque screen of leather.
-
Bottle: whew sweet..and yes, wispy. I can't pick out the individual notes, they are very transparent. Wet: largely the same, with a green herbal edge underneath. Dry: fading really, really fast. the sweet has calmed some, nothing is amping. Later: gone. it was lovely for that split second, then my skin ate it up. the linden was gorgeous while it lasted...
-
Bottle: oak and leaves, primarily. Wet: the aquatic is more pronounced, the bottom notes still dominant. Dry: the lily has made an appearance, and the edge of the aquatic has softened and, so far, is not calling a headache upon me. the bottom is less harsh and crackly - so far they are all playing nice with each other. Later: very nice - the lily isn't amped and ugly, and it's a lovely counterbalance to the deeper, darker notes. and no headache! w00t!
-
Bottle: a panopoly of florals at the height of their nectar Wet: whew - the sweetness of the orris and ylang ylang are already taking off, but I can still identify the lavender and violet. Dry: the orris and ylang ylang aren't, thank gods, yet amping. Lavender strong, the violet note is still identifiable and I'm more easily able to pick out the lilac, though the sandalwood and gardenia are missing. Later: mmm...ammmpage. *sigh* the orris continues it's pattern of Does Not Play Well With Others. Big Bummer.
-
Bottle: lily of the valley - I used to pick tiny bouquets of them at my grandma's house and put them in these teeny vases she has...fabulously fragrant, and so tiny! they are to fragrance and size as Emma is when it comes to volume. Tiny girl, helluva set of lungs. Wet: the lily is joined by rosewood and the pear. this is definitely on the sweet side, and I'm hoping that doesn't increase, as it's lovely but just short of what I know my sinuses will react to... Dry: thankfully the lily isn't amping, and although on the sweeter side for me, it's still delicate and very wearable. Later: wistful - absolutely. this is full of innocent longing..almost too young for me (this has dewy youth written all over it), but I think I may try it as a summer scent..
-
Bottle: mint, primarily, followed by the lime and lavender in equal portions. Wet: I can catch a bare hint of another green-ness, but I can't identify what it might be. Dry: celery? uh...the lime plus the herb-I-recognize-but-can't-name seems to be going fresh-cut celery. odd, but not unpleasant. Later: celery - salted celery. Weird. And now I'm hungry!
-
Bottle: all rose, but, yes, a damn haughty one. so rose it almost smells fake, it's that rose. Wet: upper-note and sweeter narcissus coming through, toning the rose down just a smidge. Dry: oooohhhh my the narcissus is turning sour and rotty-smelling. I've got seriously 'turned' bouquet in skanky water at this point. ew! ew! Later: rotten flowers and rose soap. Holy crow, this has gone foul on me...yuckity.
-
Bottle: patchouli and copal..mmmmm... Wet: add to this a hint of the oakmoss. so warm and earthy... Dry: well I'll be gawddamned, greed smells good! Not much of the heliotrope at this point, but...mmMMmmm...copal! Later: this is just wonderful, the copal takes the 'OMGhippyshop' affect away and it's just deep and warm and incense-y and yum. I could just sit and sniff my wrist allll day..
-
Bottle: carnation and iris hit immediately, followed by bergamot Wet: mosses and incense notes are more evident, and I can catch the jasmine, now, as well. Dry: I can catch the vetiver, now, but it isn't getting grungy on me yet. the jasmine is amped, as usual, and the neroli is doing it's usual painful-sweet routine, but I'm still able to identify the iris. it's combining with the bergamot, interestingly enough, to go slightly soapy...I've never smelled iris soap, so I find that terribly interesting... Later: mossy iris soap with a hint of amping jasmine and the slight beginning of a neroli headache. far out. Emma reviewed this with me since it's hers. Her pronouncement? "It stinks!" Colin is seriously getting into this smelly business after I let him have a partial imp of Tombstone, and wanted to give it a sniff. It's his now, but I'm not sure if it's because he really likes it or if he decided that since sister didn't like it he, therefore, should. (they've been fighting all day)

Bottle: the pear and grape are most insistent, the peach follows mingled with a vague summer bouquet affect without any of the floral notes standing out, yet. Wet: still mostly fruit, I can identify the moonflower more clearly. Dry: good lord this is sweet. I think the moonflower is doing something funky on me, as I almost caught the sweet pea, then it was totally swallowed up again and the floral is getting decidedly sweet and sharp-edged. Later: escalating sweetness = headache. very unpleasant - but hey, it's not mine! LOL Emma reviewed this with me since it's hers. She snatched it up - loves the fruitiness. Yay! We've pleased the unpleasable! (believe me, nothing has pleased this child today. maaaan.)
-
Bottle: very lemon with a hint of tea. Wet: same. fresh, slightly bitter lemon - the zest more than the fruit. Dry: more of the tea (white tea rather than black or green, I think). Barest hint of something green and sharp ..bay, mebbe. Later: Same throughout - no shifting at all. Fresh, bright yellow scent. Emma reviewed this with me since it's hers. She agrees that it's very lemon. Colin loves it. It's been relinquished to him, as she really wanted my Asphodel. Those who do not care to share can be...persuaded.
