Bottle: electric incense. but that, I mean incense...but with a glow. I can't explain it - very interesting, however. Wet: ooooh the ozone. how it hits me right in the sinuses, riiight in the middle. at least it's consistent. Dry: behind the ozone is amazing..dark incenses, and deeply resonating resins...but...that headache. OMFG. Later: ouch ouch ouch.

Bottle: red wine. cheap red wine, actually. I recognize this...can't tell you which brand, but I can almost picture the label... Wet: the rose e'r blooming, surpassing the wine, I'm glad to say. I hope that remains the case - wine isn't a note that cares much for me. Dry: the sweet red wine is back and not playing nice with others. damnit. Later: and it's amped, taking over, and that odd sweet-sour of turning wine. joy.

Bottle: I can't pinpoint a note - this is dark green - if dark green, almost black, had a scent, this would be it Wet: same, but expanding...I can just catch hints of the musk separate from the greenness. Dry: the flowers are sweet over the green and...I don't know, must be the volcanic gas...I'm not quite identifying something here. Later: I'm not quite sure what's not working, but something here isn't working on me. It's just getting..er..weird. Unreal. Hm.

Bottle: wonderful, rich cocoa..not sweet like drinking chocolate, this is like a fine dusting confectionary bittersweet Wet: Cocoa and sandalwood..initially sweet to the nose, then growing non-foody and complex as my nose adjusts Dry: oh lovely myrrh coming up behind, a resinous grounding..still slightly sweet, and I can almost discern a hint of vanilla - but this isn't cakey vanilla, this is the real-extract stuff that stands up on its own. Later: the vanilla has gained a little strength, but still plays noce. this is love and complex, deep and slightly sweet...it reminds me of (and not the scent, but the multilayeredness) of Watkins rootbeer syrup. That doesn't make sense to anyone, most likely, but it's deep, sweet, and..I dunno... Timeless.

Bottle: blooming..and the green fig, I can really pick that one out Wet: the apple blossom is easier to separate from the general blooming-ness now..and that fig is fascinating - I have never smelled it before, but I'm sure that's what this is. Dry: wow. something here really, really doesn't like me. I don't know if it's the green fig with the amping lily, or if the hibiscus despises me...but it's...sweet and sour and sharp and wrong. Later: good news: it's fading pretty quickly. that's all the good news I can offer, sadly.

Bottle: surprisingly light, spicy floral Wet: much the same, but with the tangering and cherr blossom taking a bit of a lead Dry: cinnamon and cardamom leading, now, and the barest hint of the bottom still to come. Later: still a little oddly foody on me, but terribly interesting...spiced subtle citrus over that lovely golden bottom...fascinating. Really. I can't stop pondering, sniffing, pondering, sniffing...

Bottle: smokey evergreen and, well, winter. Wet: this is already complex and difficult to pick apart...darkness, evergreen, smoke... Dry: the notes are starting to separate some - the myrrh and musk are really deepening, and the evergreen and spices are prominent Later: wow. I don't know that I can say more - and I'm kicking myself, because when I read the notes I was so certain it wouldn't work because cypress often does bad things...I ordered the decant mainly because I loved the name and I'm ever curious. argh! I missed this!

Bottle: fir boughs and berries Wet: the same. and really the same - rarely does this happen on me. Dry: fading quickly, like a breath of wintery air through the evergreens. no hint of the resins at all. Later: gone, gone, gone. how sad...

Bottle: chill wind blowing through the forest, lots of evergreen here. Wet: the same, but with an undertone of dry needles or dry wood (the sandalwood I assume). it's like...sitting under an evergreen so dense that the needles beneath it are dry even in a damp forest outside of that little haven beneath the boughs. Dry: dry much the same as wet, but the tonka is carried on the breeze, now. I can't find the amber or musk in this at all. Later: tonka amping, which is sorta strange with the pine. I need to try it again, I'm feeling very uncertain about this one. I'm liking it, at least to the point at which it seems to not like me...

Bottle: sweet, pale florals. very pale. Did I mention the paleness...very visual. Wet: Oddly 'perfume-y' without a single note taking charge. I'm not sure how to describe this phase. Dry: jasmine amping and growing sweeter. naughty jasmine does no tplay well with others. Later: mellowed, all jasmine.

Bottle: very sharp and masculine. one of the few 'masculine' blends that really scream OMGmaleness to me. Wet: smoke and driftwood, like a fire on a beach late at night. Dry: sweaty, dirty, salty man. the vetiver and black musk are working in concert, and it's a very diabolical pairing. taciturn. Later: the vetiver amping dance. it's morphing in different ways than usual, but still...so terrible even the gods themselves would flee from this scent on my skin...

Fresh blooming lilac, specifically the reddish-purple variety. The sweet of dragon's blood hovers underneath, and eventually sweetens the lilac reminiscent of blooms past their prime still sitting in their vase...and fades very fast. Lovely, but briefly...might need to try in a scent locket and keep this well away from my ebil skin.

Bottle: Whiteness. Cold. The smell of nothing, if nothing had a smell. How terribly interesting! Wet: Very pale floral, very chill. Dry: Sweet, growing a little sharp. The ylang ylang is starting its bid for supremacy, and I'm almost getting more green stem than rose. Later: Mellowed significantly, not a lot of stay...and very sweet ylang ylang-y-ness. Evocative, very.

Bottle: Rose...and a hint of the heliotrope, I think...it's just barely there, like a box on a high shelf I can just touch with my fingertips but not really grasp. Wet: rose and greenery, still little of the heliotrope, and something underneath that is sort of...brown. I just don't know. Dry: This is growing both sharp and soapy on me, like 2-5-7 did. Drat. Later: rose soap. sweet rose soap, a little dusty from having sat in the decorative bowl on the back of the tank for a long while.

Bottle: fruity spun sugar. Wet: bubble gum, but tooty-frooty. if juicy fruit was a bubble gum, this would be it. Dry: juicy bubblegum. I remember long car rides with my sister and she was chewing bubble gum (usually watermelon, the nastiest smell in the world, I would have sworn) and this reminds me of the overwhelmed feeling of being in a closed space with the fruity assult in progress. clearly not a winner on my skin... Later: aaand it's gone. just like that. so very strong and then nothing at all. biz-arre.

Bottle: deep myrrh with a hint of sweet floral Wet: yes, sweet lilac...this the deep purple with the subtle fragrance my grandmother has in her back yard. Dry: deeper, lovely. I can't quite get the amber in this yet, but the lilac and myrrh are so interesting together...I hope this might be a limited reissue at some point, I'd love more of it. Later: finally the amber awakens - how beautiful.

Snake Oil with acai berry, amber, cardamom, neroli, and smoked vanilla. Bottle: sweet, slightly sour, berry..complete with a sharp hint of green stem Wet: the cardamom is discernable, but still behind the berry, and this remains sweet Dry: the sweetness of the berry/neroli has backed off some, and the neroli is playing nice. the smoked vanilla is really wonderful behind, and isn't amping at this point. Later: the sultry snake oil is finally coming out underneath the sweet berry/neroli. I'm getting no more spice at this point..it's a little sweet for me, however...doesn't smell bad, or strangely amped...but I don't know that I'd wear it often.

That sounds like an asthma attack. I have allergy-induced asthma (adult-onset allergies, no less) and I react to haunted the same way when I'm already being set off by something (so while I love it, I can only wear it if I've been having a particularly smooth patch with my asthma, so I avoid it during my peak allergy times in other words, because when I'm triggered, it dominoes). Allergies can develop any time of life - and, therefore, allergy-induced asthma can come visit. Mine went full-blown after years of periodic episodes like the one you describe, and now it's unhappy asthma in its own right..but for a long time it was rare wheezing, allergy, shortness of breath times seemingly out of nowhere (now I can look back and see the pattern, but I didn't identify a pattern at the time).

Just about anything with vanilla or sweet goes bad on me, so most of what my kids have are my castoffs - alice, black pearl, black opal, titania, tombstone, white rabbit, the unicorn, tiger lily, and roadhouse (all dandelion, no booze on both of my kids). Emma has taken my imps of Amsterdam and Black Forest, that is all of the crossover we've had (although I admit I have never let her whole-hog into my smellies, there may be more she likes in florals), Colin is happy to have what Emma turns her nose up at and anything foody (gingerbread poppet decant migrated into his little box).

The red is less aggressive on me, too - the black can easily turn into burnt BO on me, it's terribly inconsistent.

If I get pregnant again I'm going scent locket, probably til the third trim. I miscarried this last time (nothing to do with any BPAL I might have worn, I assure you) so I can see myself having an emotional time if another pregnancy occurs...so something like a locket would be a comfort issue for me.

Black Annis second vote here - it's very evocative of dark and dank.

Bottle: pipe and ambergris, mainly, with a hint of incense Wet: heeeere comes the leather! Dry: sweet, tobacco, leather - a gentleman's club, with old leather chairs, and pipe smoke, and sweet sherry lingering in the air... Later: oooh. and old men. a gentleman's club complete with the decaying remnants of high society. I'll pass on this one, thanks.
