    Carnal

Bottle: baby aspirin. orange baby aspirin. Wet: the same, moving slightly from aspirin to a foodier orange Dry: much the same - no fig, yet, and still artificial-smelling Later: a hint of the fig, but really it's still dominated by baby aspirin, not canned oranges, fresh oranges, or any other oranges. Alas.
  2. juniperus

    Masabakes

Bottle: dusty bitterness, and dirt Wet: very dirt, no other note in attendence Dry: OMG is there Spanish moss here? because this is doing the very nasty crap that moss does, and it's growing ever grosser, and dirtier, and danker Later: at the very end a hint of myrrh. not enough to conteract what the hell other unholy combination of skin and notes is happening here - but myrrh. *siigh*
  3. juniperus

    Dracul

Bottle: fir, sweetened, but no other notes prominent Wet: I can catch the mint, and the orange blossom, in addition to the evergreeniness. Dry: the clove has stepped up to join the fray, and the musk beneath. very interesting. Later: the tobaccois doing on me what it tends to do on me, but I have liked it up to this point so I'll be trying it on Brian to see if he can wear it without amping the baccy.
  4. juniperus

    Tiger Lily

Bottle: a sort of abstract warm floral.. Wet: that and a hint of sweet, and pollen. the smell of whuffing the flower too close to your nose. Dry: honey sweet, pollen, floral..but still sort of nondescript on me. I think I've bori-fied this. Later: honey and pollen. not so much with the floral itself..damn odd. (but Emma is groovin' on it! she has run off with my partial imp.)
  5. juniperus

    Frumious Bandersnatch

Bottle: funky, spicy florals. Brillig! Wet: even spicier, and the fruity plum beneath is a fascinating counterbalance. Dry: spicy, still, but not foody. the movement between the fruit, musk, and florals is a complex dance in my nose...very active scent..like those paintings you have to see on the overhead in art history 101 at 8AM with the instructor going on and on about now the color moves the eye...this is a scent like those paintings. And I know that probable makes no sense to read, sorry. Later: I'm both gyre-ing and gimble-ing. this is sweeter than I usually wear, but I'm liking it nonetheless. I may not wear it often, but I gotta keep it.
  6. juniperus

    Polyhymnia

Bottle: floral lemon, sweet, yowza. Wet: rosemary here, but it's well behind. Dry: honeysuckle amping and lemon still like nutz. growing headier. Later: amping, amping that lemon and honeysuckle to dire consequences for the rest of the notes. pishposh.
  7. juniperus

    Terpsichore

Bottle: ack ack sweet floral ack OMG what am I smelling? Wet: carnation is clear here, and sweet pea, and that murky floral that really hit me at first is calming considerably. Dry: still very sweet and heady, but the layers are separating and becoming distinct on their own. Later: neroli, why must you ruin everything? amped, amped, amped. bah. ouchie sinusy neroli.
  8. juniperus

    Ogun

Bottle: gin and melon and chili pepper. it smells like a bad time in the kitchen. Wet: much melon. honeydew, I think, I'm not getting any cantaloupe from this. Dry: tobacco and melon. and booze. and this is getting really unpleasant on my skin. Later: really unpleasant.
  9. juniperus

    Sacred Whore of Babylon

Bottle: yo. abominations. sweet and husky. Wet: er, make that vanilla, maybe? and a spicy floral, maybe cinnamon, maybe carnation.. Dry: gotta be vanilla here, or tonka, because I'm amping it. yay me and my peculiar skin! *sigh* Later: cheap vanilla drugstore swill. man, but my chemistry is a bitch.
  10. juniperus

    Al Azif

Bottle: dark and hot and smoky Wet: the same, with a foodyness behind it I can't quite put my finger on Dry: oh, and plastic. acrid, burning plastic. holy crap this is getting very bad, very fast. Later: OMG washing! aagh!
  11. juniperus

    Ode on Melancholy

Bottle: pale. no notes stand out, it's just...pale. Wet: pale florals, now, but still wispy. Dry: the same wisp, but the musk is more apparent and identifiable. it's like a memory of a scent, rather than a scent itself. Later: and it's fading to a point past wispyness, past transparency.
  12. juniperus

    Intrigue

Bottle: chocolate covered..figs. ruh? Wet: ah, the woods...very interesting...I'm just not sure what to make of this. Dry: something odd here, mayhaps the palm. it's getting rather dark and ouchie. Later: yep, wrong. sadness is mine.
  13. juniperus

    The Jersey Devil

Bottle: bitter leaves and woods Wet: ohh pine. and cedar. like a pine cabin with fresh-hewn cedar furniture. Dry: back to the bitter/sharp leaves (esp. tomato), no cranberry to be found. Later: aaaand it's gone, just like that. zippo.
  14. juniperus

    Blood Kiss

Bottle: honey and cherry (not marachino!), and vanilla (in that order)...sweet but not cloying Wet: the same. Dry: the wine is a getting that boozy sweet, now, and I can catch the vetiver beneath it all. Later: O vetiver: To the last, I will grapple with thee. From hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee.
  15. juniperus

    Uruk

Bottle: toasted macaroon? Wet: almond, that's it. and the incense and saffron. a not-cherry almond, really yummy. Dry: the leaves are more prominent, still dominated by the almond, tho, but not in a bad way. Later: the patchouli comes up faintly in the background, and no amping jasmine amazingly enough, but still very sweet. still, it's interesting for a change...not big-bottle-worthy, but I might use the imp again, maybe when I'm feeling sorta sumerian.
  16. juniperus

    Venice

Bottle: lemon, but a lovely and delicate lemon (not assertive, and not Pledge) Wet: I can get the feel of florals, but not the specific floral notes themselves... Dry: jasmine beginning to amp, it's mainly that and lemon and a bare hint of currant, now. Later: mellowed, but almost all jasmine. it's a lovely jasmine, for a change (it's not gotten sweet-rotty on me), but still...I had really been looking forward to the plum and sandalwood.
  17. juniperus

    Somnus

Bottle: lavender and...hm. not sure. Wet: chamomile, I think. lavender and chamomile. Dry: slightly soapy...is there lily here? mebbe a smidge? Later: this is turning into lavender soap on me similar to Nocturne...I'm off to bed, so we'll see if it works... (eta: not so much, no more than Nocturne..next stop: TKO)

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

I love the rose in Wicked, especially after it's aged some and the myrrh mellows and warms. (and fourth for Spellbound!) For LEs Rose Red and Parlement of Foules are two of my beloveds. (edited. can't count)
  19. juniperus

    Jólasveinar

Bottle: buttery pastry Wet: pastry, served in the middle of a forest Dry: something here is getting pushy, whether it's the moss or felwort I don't know. the snow and dirt are having their way with my sinuses Later: well it's not amping and morphing like its nasty cousin Spanish moss, but the moss (or is it the felwort?) isn't liking me, methinks. and the dirt. I can't wear dirt, it seems, can't wear it.
  20. juniperus

    Knecht Ruprecht

Bottle: apples and sweet almonds Wet: the same, with a hint of evergreen behind Dry: evergreen and wood and fruit - like a large, creative holiday centerpiece with greens and edibles and all.. Later: this is getting both wilty and foody. something here isn't working, and isn't working in proportion to the length of time it's been on me. ugh.
  21. juniperus

    Purple Phoenix

Bottle: sweet figgy and plum wine Wet: immediately deepening and the dark purple florals are eclipsing any booziness Dry: that wet phase was lovely, and much of the freshness of the floral has gone, but the myrrh hovers behind giving it, yes, somberness Later: I ordered this because the fig and plum were just too enticing to let me worry too long about the orris, booze, and wisteria, but then I read reviews and worried as I waited for the box to arrive. I'm so glad that my worry was for nothing - this has mellowed quite a bit, the florals have come back (not as their wet incarnations, but as haunting memories of those fresh blooms), I'm not getting an uncomfortable sweetness nor insane floral - it's gorgeous purpleness!
  22. juniperus

    Glasya

Bottle: earthy, sweet musk Wet: warming, and gaining breadth, plus hints of rose Dry: the resins and musks are deep and resounding, the patchouli is keeping a respectful distance (the red is better on me, anyway, the black tends to go composty), and the rose isn't as aggressive (which is a good thing, it was pretty large and in charge for a while) Later: oh my, this has mellowed into a lovely, musky, resinous gem with just a hint of floral....the ylang ylang didn't even go nuts on me as it's been known to do. This is exactly what I hoped it would be!
  23. juniperus

    Puck

Bottle: Sweet grapiness - grape ape! Wet: Grape with civet, which is mellowing the sweet. Dry: juniper berry on board, a hint of the moss and sage beneath - but this is mellowing into something that's both playful and gorgeous. Later: still on the sweeter side, overall, but sweet in an almost-floral sort of sense...interesting and OOHsaxay!
  24. juniperus

    Wilhelmina Murray

Bottle: a light floral, more rose than anything else, but still not all rose Wet: the hyacinth is coming out on it's own, now, and the myrrh. Dry: the florals are growing heady, and nothing yet of the muck or blackcurrant...if I work at it I can discern the sandalwood crouched fearfully behind the aggressive floral cacaphony. Later: I admit I was a little concerned as tea rose isn't known for it's fondness for my skin, but the currant and musk and the resins were calling my name. the florals are still amping, but what lies behind is lovely..unfortunately, it's eau d'biddy right now. I don't know if this will back down eventually, but this phase is ugh enough that I don't know that I'd be willing to wait that long even if it did. Alas, major alas.
  25. juniperus

    Luperci

Bottle: musky juniper. (that sounds diiirty. ) Wet: the same, and I can barely detect the patchouli behind the evergreen tang. Dry: raw, yes, and musky and earthy. but no sign of my usual reaction to honey! very masculine in tone. Later: the patchouli is lending itself to be almost dirty as it oft does, but what floats above it is so nice...it's right on that edge of wearable for me, I might need to test-drive it again before I lament...
