BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?
Jettcat replied to beetiger's topic in Recommendations
I'd recommend Samhain, mulled cider and spices! -
In the Bottle: Minty and woody at the same time. Wet: Hey there cinnamon, where did you come from? It's a sharp wide awake scent. I still get a minty/cinnamon note on top, but a woody incense below. Dry: It was very sharp in the bottle and wet, but dry it mellows nicely. Not nearly as minty, definately more woodsy cinnamon now. 1 hour later: My skin eats this up and there's barely a trace of it's earlier brightness. Then again, I didn't slather this on since I always test lightly.
-
In the bottle: A bourbon soaked floral Wet: A strutting floral with a drunken swagger Dry: It you drink too much, eventually you find yourself hugging the dirt. The drydown is funereal flowers and fresh turned earth. My nose is astonished at the talent of Beth to really pull a figurative rabbit out of her hat. 1 hour later: While I wouldn't wear it on a day to day basis, but I'll keep the imp so I can show off how amazing BPAL is.

In the bottle: A summery scent, lying in the tall weeds overlooking the meadow below is the only way I can describe it. Wet: Woah! Fresh cut grass with a honeyed tobacco note behind it. Dry: Just when I get a little cynical about BPAL, I come across a scent that reminds me why perfume is magic. It takes me back to lazy afternoons riding with my friends and our biggest problem was who would hold the reins when we stopped at 7-11 for popsicles. 1 hour later: This scent is just so sunny, I'm knocked out by the freshness and a lovely sweet clover note creeping in now that it's made itself comfortable. This is going on the bottle list!
-
In the bottle: Freesia....alot of it!! Wet: The freesia express has pulled into town and brought it's friends honeysuckle and I think I'm getting the lotus but the damn fressia is so loud out front....I hope it calms down. Dry:The floral is softening quite a bit, it doesn't come across as a big juicy floral anymore, more like reserved mature floral. 1 hour later: I'm disappointed, it was so promising as it dried down. I'll give it another chance and hope my chemistry doesn't turn it into a laundry sheet again.
-
In the bottle: a smell of sparkling wine with a sweet layer behind it Wet:The strawberry starts amping up and I've lost the champagne note Dry: It's bubblegum candy, very child like in a way. 1 hour later: Sadly it faded to a big ol' hunk of strawberry bubblicious, I bet my god daughter would love this...she's made off with an imp of Bliss already.
-
Ah the elusive Snow Angel In the bottle: Lemon fizzy candy smell Wet: Strong lemon and not a hint of the sugary note, peach? Where? I don't smell any peach.. Dry: The lemon note is going sour and not in a good way 1 hour later: Lemon dishwashing soap aw man...I really did want to love this one after all I'd read about it
-
In the bottle: Peony and a very soft rose. Beth has made me into a rose lover in spite of myself. Wet: Very green and the floral changes entirely, it's still crisp and light. Dry: Damn the florals go soapy on me sometimes and this is no exception. I'm going to wait it out and see if I can live with the end result. 1 hour later: The soapy has left the building! YAY!! Now a clean scent with only a trace of rose and peony. I can see this as a scent for a sunny afternoon, driving too fast up Highway 1. In fact I think I'll take it for a spin tomorrow and get some sun. This may upgrade and go on my bottle wishlist.

In the bottle: fresh invigorating citrus Wet: Goes a bit floral as soon as it hits my skin. It's a very mature scent, very ladylike and straight to business. Dry: The citrus has faded completely and the floral has turned into a rose and something else. my nose isn't as educated enough to identify it, but it's maddeningly familiar. 1 hour later: the citrus stomps back thru...oh crap! It's turned into a dryer sheet on me. Maybe it's my chemistry today. It morphs so delicately, I have to put this one into my give it one more shot later box. Cuz damn...right now, I smell like Bounce.
-
In the bottle: slightly herbal, yet I'm getting a pine note Wet: Great, it doesn't like me....the blood note seems to really hate me. One of the reasons I've had my heart broken by several of the Ars Draconis scents....blood strikes again. Dry: Funky lilac note comes thru making this a truly lethal cocktail. Damn another LE that hates me. 1 hour later: I didn't make the whole hour, I had to wash this off. Off to the swap pile it goes.
-
In the bottle: dark and mysterious Wet: Boozy as soon as it hits my skin and a darker floral emerges. Wow does this one morph constantly or what? Dry: The floral keeps amping up, I don't know about this...I think it's giving me a headache. 1 hour later: Yup, it's poisonous on me. Someone wrote that it reminded them of Dior's Poison, I have to agree, because it gives me the same reaction. At least I already know someone who wants to give it a loving home. So sad...

Samhain 05 Ya know, I really shouldn't be trying out discontinued LE as I always fall in love and want mass amounts. *sigh* In the bottle: I'm getting fruity spicy that romps thru my nasal passages joyfully...oh damn, I always love the foodie scents. Wet: Tart apple and clove, damn now I'm hungry too......MUST.NOT.THINK.OF.PIE! Dry: The clove backs down and I'm getting a peppery note....I still want PIE! 1 hour later: Been forced to make a drink as I don't have the ingredients for apple pie. Hopefully Beth will again bring this back this year as well, even if it's only available once a year, I'd still buy a bottle. Maybe I will inspire her with my recipe for a Hot Apple Pie cocktail. Hot Apple Pie 1 packet of hot apple cider mix in a coffee glass add 1 shot of Tuaca liquer and mix with hot water stir thoroughly until well mixed, top with whipped cream I swear this tastes exactly like a hot alcoholic apple pie!

In the bottle: I can't even identify what that is, smells odd tho... Wet: Wow! What a transformation, oh god LILIES!! Oh yum, every scent that has a strong lily note, I love. Dry: Morphs a bit and I'm getting some the amber and linen notes. They are a mood enhancer, I'm nice and relaxed. Ah Aromatherapy! 1 hour later: I'm SO glad a managed to get a bottle of this before everyone realizes what a treasure it is and it becomes ridiculously priced. This smells so completely different from bottle to skin that I'm sure some probably wrote it off without getting past the sniffing stage.

In the bottle: SWEET TARTS!! Wet: On my skin it triggers a memory of too many sweet tarts on a summer afternoon reading a good book and being unaware you've just eaten the whole movie sized box of candy. Seriously, my tongue checked the roof of my mouth to make sure there wasn't that raw citric acid and sugar hangover there. Dry: the grapiness (ok I know that's not a word, bear with me) has faded and it turning powdery. 1 hour later: It's disappeared entirely, only a hint of powder remains. I'll be passing on this one, so sad. I'm such a retro candy fan too.

In the bottle: oh that's lovely, this is supposed to be a masculine scent? I'd classify it as a gender neutral scent. I'm getting a soft musk with a floral behind it. Wet: The rose takes the lead initially, but the musk stands up and demands center stage. I'm not getting anything spicy tho. Dry: The floral is getting sweeter, not sure about this one. I'll probably try it again before I make the swap decision. 1 hour later: Sadly my skin amped up the sweet floral and it's a bit much. I'll give one more try before giving up completely

This was a frimp from a bottle order. In the bottle: Good grief! the orris jumped out and punched me in the nose and there's that backroom of a head shop coming thru with the patchouli, you know when they burn incense to cover the smell of something else? Wet: I don't think we're going to get along....I'm having flashbacks to Fire of Love, which turned into stinkbomb of love as soon as my skin chemistry and it got together. Dry: Softens a bit, but still that patchouli note has me by the throat 15 minutes later.....I couldn't wait an hour! Washed off and into the swap pile it goes.

I bought this as an imp(ulse)! In the bottle: Phew, alcohol and floral Wet: This is quite nice, the alcohol stink goes away as soon as it hits my skin. Turns dark and smoky, must be the amber and myrrh amping up. Dry: Finally getting a slight return of the floral, it's starting to balance nicely. 1 hour later: I'm glad I grabbed up this one and of course, I have to love it. It's discontinued

Another frimp from Scylla! There's no notes listed, so I'm letting the imp do the talking. In the bottle: A musky floral Wet: Where did it go? I can't smell anything, my skin swallowed it whole. Dry: Oh great.....SOAP! Like flowery french milled soap my grandmother would put in her underwear drawer instead of sachets. 1 hour later: Practically non existant and faintly floral. Before I write it off entirely, I'll give it a try in a week in case it's some wacky skin chemistry playing hell with the imp. So sad, I wanted so much for this to work after reading a friends review of it.

A frimp from the wonderful Scylla from my wishlist. In the bottle: wet cinnamon bark, it reminds me of the tea I brew for summer and stick an entire cinnamon stick to the pot while it slowly brews. Wet: The clove steps up and I'm getting a honeyed pepper note in there Dry: The clove is slightly obnoxious and where did the cinnamon go? 1 hour later: The clove takes a backseat finally and the honey and cinnamon are the shining notes now. The pepper seems to have disappeared but a quiet musky thing is going on in the background now. I'm glad I got to try this, but I think I'll stick with celestial Uranus blend for my cinnamon and clove fix.

Doc Buzzard-In the imp: a masculine floral? Wet: Earthy and something that tickles my nose, is that anise? Dry: Has softened considerably, I keep wanting to say aquatic, but it's nothing like Cthulhu. Still slightly floral, but they're really BUTCH flowers. I can easily see this one being classified as unisex. 1 hour later: A sharp wood note has dominated everything else. I'm not real big on the woodsy scents, alas Doc Buzzard is not for me.
-
Storyville-In the imp:Good Gods it's Spanked! Wet: still Spanked, but I'm not get the foodie scent everyone is talking about Dry: Ah, here comes something new. The Spanked note has faded and the cocoa note has subtly taken control and it's soft not overpowering. 1 hour later: Yes, I do know what it means to miss New Orleans, Beth has outdone herself. This ranks in my opinion with Snowblind and Misk U. Simply amazing!

Just got my bottle today.. In the bottle: cinnamon, cinnamon cinnamon Wet: Still firey cinnamon, but the clove has revved up and taken off..there's some other spice in there, what is it? Dry: Cinnamon has faded down almost completely and the clove has downshifted. I think it's Nutmeg that's the woody spicy thing going on seperate from the clove Verdict: As an Aquarian and a lover of Inferno I'm a bit torn here. I love the spiciness of the oil, but there's something tugging at me saying there's something missing. I'll try this again in a week or so, to see if there's a difference I hope so, cuz I swiped another bottle

I got my hands on an imp today, it was love at first sniff! My initial reaction was, Damn it's Baileys Irish creme. As it dries down it turns in to one of my most requested cocktails: Slippery Nipple or Stiff Dick- Baileys and Buttershot Schnapps blended with creme! I never get a dusty note, but there seems to be a slighty nutty something in the background, perhaps Beth raided my Liquor cabinet and found my Amaretto Oddly, this seems easier to get my grubby paws on than Snowblind, not that I'm complaining...I'll just start hoarding!!
