LUNA NEGRA: TED'S CREATION The solace of shadows: blackberry and blackcurrant with Nepalese amber, kewda attar, and a deep, rich, sweet dark musk. Wow, I'm the first? In the bottle: A soft musk with a hint of fruitiness in the bottle. Wet on skin: Why hello there fruits, the blackberry is bold and in perfect tandem with the black currant. Dry down: The fruit is still out front, but the musk has reappeared and only the faintest hint of amber. Verdict: A youthful feel to this scent and perfect if a little late night naughtiness at the drive in is your cup of tea. Stays very close to skin and would be perfect if worn in all the right places.

Warm and toasty nutty treats which dries down to a salty finish. The foodies will love this one!
-
In the vial wood, yes wet wood shaving to be precise. On my skin its wet orange wood shavings. I never get the clove sadly.
-
Once the sharp mint fades from the first sniff of the vial. This one is definitely a morpher, its now a soapy leather with no scent of the earlier mint. Another scent my skin chemistry does not play well with.
-
Honeyed booze in the vial and warms to a golden resin scent. This smells like sunlight and chases away the winter chill. I would not mind at all tracking down a couple of imps of this one.
-
Trinket is sparkly candy in the vial but has an almost bubblegum note that reminds me of Jailbait. It stays very closes to the skin and honey hates me so it never makes an appearance.
-
A whiff of menthol at first, but quickly fades to a pine scent. There's a foody gingerbread note underneath but my chemistry makes it into a cleaning product scent.

Very masculine, I knew that before I opened the package as it leaked slightly in transit. Actually had to stay away from it for a couple of days to get a fresh take on it. In the bottle: We got wood, (stop snickering) Wet: Resins come out on the skin and the boldness fades quickly. Dry: Almost invisible, no throw at all. I haven't tried layering them yet, but I hope both will age and recapture their boldness in the bottled state.

I've been looking forward to this one ever since I read the notes and was lucky enough to have a friend to went to the Atlanta WC. In the bottle: Bold vanilla and a leafy note. Wet: Heavenly sweet and the chamomile makes a bold statement, the bourbon note stays in the background. Dry: It's like wearing a Snake Oil Light now, a much lighter quality. I wonder what this will be like after a year or so. I love my aged Snake Oil, this might be orgasmic as it settles.

Umm Beth? You've made the doggie version of Cialis according the red dachshund that is trying to wash my wrist atm. Great booze top note, creamy spice underneath. I've only gotten my hands on the original EggNog in sniffie form, you hit it out of the park with the return.

I got True Love, now we see if it will survive the retrograde! In the bottle: Herbal with a touch of sweet spicyness in the background, probably the peach and carnation mingling. Wet on skin: the patchouli immediately takes a backseat and it becomes almost too sweet. Drydown: It's morphed into sweet incense, like All Souls and bits of soft fruits and florals I was originally hoping for Passion, but True Love it seems....wins overall!

I really was worried about this when I opened the bottle and couldn't smell a thing! My nose must have gone on strike last night, so I retested this morning. In the Bottle: wet tea leaves and sweet citrus in the background. Wet: The tea disappears and the musk comes forward, the citrus is so stronger it's become a tangerine musk affair. Where are my spices? Dry: The cinnamon and cardamon warm up and mix in, the citrus that was so strong has faded to the backround. Most people don't seem to like cinnamon much, as skin reactions go. I'm a spice lover and the final result of spicy sweetness very much agrees with me. I wish it had a better throw, it stays very close to my skin.

If you loved Schwanzer Mond, you will LOVE Lycaon. It's every bit as masculine and powerful. The myrrh stands up and gets your attention, probably by grabbing you by the throat. It's practically wearing leather pants. It softens after it's brutal entrance and the word brutal does apply. There is a boi or two who I can't wait to slather this on. Hell with it! They're both getting slathered and I keep whoever survives the evening. Thank you Beth! This is another winner!

In the bottle: sugar SUGAR! Wet: Candy sweet and violets, but not in a cloying way and a little of the wine tone slips in as well Drydown: This is one for all the resin lovers like me! If you loved All Souls and Midnight Mass, but wanted something a little more...this is it! This is the 1st BPAL that turned my Mom's head and it looks like I'll have to ordered another bottle quick before they go away, so I can keep mine!! (erm, or give her mine and *sigh* wait til the second bottle shows up). ACES Beth! You won over a woman in her 60s, who was very distainful of BPAL til now!

In the bottle: it's that weird pickle like note I no longer dread! Wet: Goodbye vinegar pickle and hello RESINS!! It's slightly ironic that I started out a hardcore foodie, but it's the resins and incense that appeals to me out of this bottle. Dry: So glad I waited for reviews so I didn't skip this one. It's only when it dries down that I get faint cakey undertone. Which is fine with me, because I love my smoky incense!!

In the bottle: Dark smoky resins :loves: Wet: Well hello there myrrh, I remember you and you've brought your friend musk as well. Dry: The dark resins take a backseat and the hyacinth is front and center. Not to girlie, but dark and mysterious, ready for a ride on the Orient Express. Overall: I wish the resins would have been more bold, because the rose and hyacinth took over in the end. Something I'll wear when I want to appear neutral.

In the bottle: sharp floral Wet: Green with lilies (damn I hope that calms down) Dry: I never get the sandalwood and it settles down to a softer floral. Almost too sweet as florals go for me. Within 30 minutes it's gone completely. I'll have to give it one more go, but I think this one will go up for adoption. Lovely label Macha!

I thought I experienced the ultimate apple with Creepy, but Punkie Night kicks it's ass! In the bottle: Strong herbal with and fruity spice scent backing it up. Wet: A very fresh apple crunch smell, when you've just bit down into an ice cold one and it's so sweet and cold your teeth hurt. Drydown: It gets spicy, that must be the cranberry mixing in with the apple. There's a real autumn harvest feel to this oil. I'm glad I opted to buy a bottle, instead of joining a decant circle. There are several Samhain scents I'm looking forward to trying out as well. Another 5 star scent from Beth!

The first of many more Samhain scents to come. In the bottle: An overwhelming butterscotch caramel scent with a juiciness in the background. It's also tart and sweet at the same time. Wet: There's the apple and it makes me want to bite my wrist! There's also a wood scent mingling in, so it's not overly sweet. Drydown: The buttery caramel combines with the crisp apple scent, transforming into the perfect caramel apple that I got as a kid for a treat. The foodies among the BPALers will be head over heels in love!

Ok, I have a confession...I hate Patchouli, I always have Someone please tell me why I love this? In the bottle: what the hell? It's herbal and kinda stinky?! But here goes. Wet: A touch of smoke and something sweet, is that myrrh? Drydown: This is teh SEX! Something in there shares a note with Spanked. It's soft resins and sweetness and a touch of booze in there, I swear. Yes, it's official, I have fallen in love with something that's got a lovely patchouli note. I can't believe I just wrote that sentence. Beth, how do you do this? I probably shouldn't ask, it's a matter of NATIONAL SEKURITEE! Maybe if the GOP smelled better, they wouldn't be such wankers. I'm now alternating sniffing wrists like a weirdo... that was a short trip

*gets stagefright* Can't I just sit on top of the stacks and headbang? OK,OK... In the bottle: Floral and sweet Wet: Hello, I'm JASMINE and I'm here to kick yer ass and drink all yer booze! Oh dear gods....make it calm down, pretty please? Drydown: Jasmine has gotten a good buzz and settled down in the backseat to make up words to Def Leppard songs (occasionally yelling SUGAR for no apparent reason). The pear sneaks out and proceeds to whisper sweet nothings, there is a definite perfume undertone to this oil. It's a grown up scent, it says I've been around and I'm here for the long run. Something to wear when you're meeting someone for the first time and want them to remember you. A love letter scented with this will be a treasured possesion.

XDVII-517 Starts out very bitter and herbal smelling in the bottle. I almost didn't want to try it out, but I sucked it up and grabbed a couple of q-tips to try it out before writing it off. Vinegar smell or no here goes.... Wet: Hey, where did this come from? It lost the bitter smell as soon as it hits my skin and goes sweet and floral on me. Dry: Softens quite a bit and stays very close to the skin. I smell plumeria and rose as top notes and honey underneath. This one does an extreme 180' compared to the way it smells in the bottle. It's delicate, but I'll look silly with my nose pasted to my wrist 24/7. CDLXXXI-481 Sweet fruity candy in the bottle. Not the bubblegum note I get from Jailbait tho. Wet: Still sweet but with a grapefruit note now, softens the sweetness quite a bit. Damn it smells juicy tho! Slight but very soft musk in there, I'm no good at telling the musk notes apart, I'll leave that to more experienced noses. =P Dry: I'm so glad the sweetness calmed down. It's now a light sweet and tart fragrance that will be perfect for summer evenings while reminding me of spring at the same time. I still have one bottle I ordered later in a weak moment, but I'm pleased that I didn't get anything that absolutely hates my skin chemistry.

Got my hands on this thru LJ! Good goggly moggly! It's teh Smut light, or maybe Smut's cousin. The one that went to bible school but secretly snuck out the window at night to swipe the family convertible and go driving too fast down the back roads. It's sweet but not exactly innocent, coy without being cloying. Red musk and sweet tobacco under sugar top note, it doesn't stomp all over you with cinnamon, more of a DAMN you smell good effect. One of my all time favorites, right up there with Spanked and Snowblind. bonus points for not going all funky on me during my moon

I fell in love with Tulzscha from Springtime in Arkham Minty at first and softens with a cucumber note that I find perfect for spring and summer.

I'll only be reviewing this as a scent and not yet as a ritual oil. My good friend Branden was lucky enough to go to Convergence and hung around the BPAL booth at my behest. He said he met Beth and she might remember him as the boy with the green Cthulhu dreads and tattoos. I have a bottle of Cthulhu stashed that I'm going to send to him as a thank you. In the bottle: Whoa ROSE!! Not what I was expecting at all Wet: The rose is still strong and there's a honeysuckle note I believe. Anyone one else remember the rose and violet flavored candy they used to make? I'm reminded of that by the scent memory. Dry: Floral still but masculine in a way, the sweetness seems to be fading. 1 hour later: This oil has a terrifically strong throw, I don't need to bring my hand to my wrist in order to sample it again. I can easily see this as unisex as I don't immediately think of this as strickly feminine. I do know that it's given me a major itch to finally get a TAL order going.
