    Dragon-Smooched Snake Oil

The minute I saw Beth's announcement, I knew I needed eleventybillion bottles of this. Unfortunately, I could only afford two. I'm not complaining, however, as I am one of the lucky ones. Snake Oil is one of my very favorite scents of all time. I love it fresh, aged, and usually as a base in the other related Snake Oil scents. Patchouli is a lifelong love of mine. And then there's Beth's Dragon's Blood, another note I adore, especially in Dragon's Milk. So when this "oops" of Beth's was announced, BE STILL MY BEATING HEART! Fresh from the mailbox, the Snake Oil was the first thing I smelled, with just a hint of dragon's blood. I've been wearing it every day for five days in a row, and it's getting better and better. The extra patchouli makes the Snake Oil smell like it's supersized, and the dragon's blood and honey give this a Dragon's Milk sweetness, but it's not as sticky-sweet as DM can be on my skin. I'm going to go through my first bottle too fast, but what a way to go. Beth, thank you so much for sharing this "oops" with us! It really is the scent of my dreams. I love this, and am putting away my second bottle to age because this is going to be Ah-may-zing in the future, given its beauty now.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller Hair Gloss

I adore Mme. Moriarty perfume and am rationing my original bottle of her while I'm able to wear the more recent release of the perfume with wilder abandon. I obviously voted for Mme. Moriarty in the lunacy poll, and although I would have LOVED a bath oil, it was a no-brainer to order the hair gloss. Scent-wise, my bottle is definitely that scent I love, but it is very soft and I was surprised by that. The lack of strength and throw make the hair gloss wearable in many more settings, but I was really hoping for a stronger WOMAN in my bottle of hair gloss, as she is in the perfume.

Sensitive Folk Music Dragon Hair Gloss

I thought I had already reviewed this, but apparently not. First, thanks again to my wonderful fairy for picking this up for me! I adore each of the notes in this, and was especially looking forward to a hair gloss with nag champa. SFMD does not disappoint! The sensitive part comes from the fact that this is not an in your face hippie scent, although it has that sensibility (see what I did there?) The notes are gentle but present and it's extremely wearable in many more situations than I had expected. I really love this. It also pairs perfectly with my Lab Rat perfume! (among many others)

    Autumn Cider Hair Gloss

I bought this because I was in the mood for a fruity scent that would go with my autumn apple scents, but also hoping it could replace my Gluhwein hair gloss, which is almost gone. I think I chose wisely! Autumn Cider hair gloss isn't as strong or super-sweet as my Autumn Cider perfume. This has a dusky fruit scent to it, a hint of butterscotch, and is soft enough to wear with many scents year round. I'm glad I got the bottle!

    A Sweet Sleep Hair Gloss

This is the same lavender as in TKO. I have TKO massage oil and atmo spray, and this is a softer, sweeter, gentler version of TKO! The atmo and massage oil can be very "in your face" with strength and throw, but this is very pretty and wearable. I don't really care for bergamot and was worried about it, but I really don't smell it as a distinct note here. In fact, the other notes are blended into the lavender so well that none of them stands out. I haven't tried any of the other lavender hair glosses, but this one is exactly what I was hoping for!

    Sugar Skull Bath Oil

Vibrant with the joy and sweetness of life in death! A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits. Sugar Skull is one of my favorite Halloweenie perfumes, and I have bottles from several different years. When this won the Lunacy poll, there was no way I could resist it! It has the same sweet sugar, both brown and slightly caramelized, with a bit of fruit that sweetens it even further. I detect some spice in the bath oil that isn't present in my perfumes (although I haven't yet tried the 2017 version.) No matter- it is still delicious Sugar Skull! I use my bath oils as after-shower moisturizers, and this has amazing throw and is long wearing. It also scented the shower nicely when I took my shower the next day. I'm sorry I didn't buy two bottles when I had the chance, as I expect to go through this quickly.

It scented the shower nicely when I rinsed my hair the next day.

    Closet Raid

Playing "dress-up" in my mother's and best friends' mothers' clothes was my favorite past-time as a child. With my Gemini nature, I still want to dress in many different styles depending on my mood, and have never developed a signature clothing style for myself. I range from anything sparkly and velvet, to leggings and tunics, to tees and jeans or broomstick skirts, boots or platforms. Sadly I can't wear heels after a serious fracture. But my style is nothing if not eclectic. So also is my perfume, though it leans heavily towards incense and patchouli. I wore Chanel No. 5 way back as a young woman in the 70s. I haven't smelled it in decades, but the minute I applied Closet Raid to my wrist, I immediately recognized the scent! It is so gorgeous, and now that I'm a woman of a certain age, it seems even more appropriate and perfect to wear. The hint of Snake Oil shows up after about an hour, along with the lavender. Overall, this is so well-blended that I keep sniffing my inner arm to be sure I'm getting all the notes. This is the most elegant BPAL I've smelled or worn. I'm reserving this for special occasions because as much as I want to order a backup bottle, I simply have to limit my backups. I'm already drowning in more BPAL than I will ever wear. But if I could, this would be a hoarder for me. Love this one with all my heart. And the label is perfect! ❤❤❤

    Golden Champa Attar

I need to catch up on doing my reviews! I don't have a lot to add that hasn't already been said. I adore good Nag champa incense and that old 70s headshop smell. Golden Champa Attar brings back memories, but adds an even better feeling because it's BPAL. I recognize the note in so many of my favorites, and am excited to be able to wear it on its own. This s a strong, syrupy oil, it has a lot of throw, and lasts forever on my skin. I'm so glad I planned ahead and ordered two bottles right away. I'd have hated to miss this one!

    Antique Lace Hair Gloss

I had never tried Antique Lace, but I snatched this up immediately because I knew I would love it. It's a gorgeous warm vanilla with just a hint of linen. The hair gloss is more vanilla-forward than the re-released perfume, which I also bought. It is absolutely lovely, and the perfect scent to wear when I'm with my grandson. I will save the hair gloss and perfume for my babysitting days so they become "his" scent memory of Nana.

    Lab Rat

Lab Rat is so much fun! At first sniff, it really does have that quintiscentual (see what I did there ) BPAL box smell! My collection is made up primarily of incense, musk, Dragon's blood, and other resin scents, with a heavy dose of patchouli and Snake Oil. So imagine my surprise when this wears so close to the skin! It doesn't scream out, and I don't amp any particular note that I usually amp. I do detect a hint of leather, a note I avoid, but it doesn't dominate. I think folks will either pick out their most loved notes or their death notes; seems like this could go either way. But for me, it's a lovely way to introduce someone to the wonders of BPAL by sticking my wrist under their nose and asking what they think I'm wearing. HAHAHA- no one will ever guess, but I bet they will be intrigued enough to enter the rabbit hole of our love!

    Bonfire Smoke Atmosphere Spray

Woodmoke, glowing embers, drifting ash, and the memory of bones. At first spray, this is a high pitched, sharp smoke, which wasn't what I expected. But it quickly dissipated into something warm and comfy. There is a hint of things thrown into this bonfire besides firewood- it's not strictly a campfire, but perhaps some old boards with rusty nails are burning in the bonfire, giving just a hint of metal in with the wood. As it fades, the wood burns down into that familiar campfire smell, and softens into the smell you have left in your hair or on a sweater the next day after the bonfire is gone. Interestingly, this isn't as strong or long-lasting as Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Pyre, which lasts for days. This is a good smoke scent for those of us who miss having a fireplace and want to add that touch of coziness to the home. It's really lovely to add a touch of smoke when sprayed alongside another room spray, such as Konditorie, Samhain, or other foodie sprays.

Shadows of the Things That Have Been Hair Gloss

Oh my gosh this is so good! The rum isn't boozy so I don't have to worry about wearing this and people thinking I've been drinking. The firewood is that gorgeous smoky scent that lingers in a room with a cracking fire. I was hoping that a decants would suffice since I'm really trying to cut down on my buying and even doing some destashing, but this is too pretty to miss having around for winters to come. This has such a warm feeling and will be so good on cold autumn and winter nights. I also think it will smell awesome layered with Boo hair gloss! Yep, a full bottle is on its way to me.
  14. Smoke-touched and dusky. I will do a quick review with this one straight from the mailbox, because I'm sure others are waiting with anticipation just like I was to read about the new Weenie glosses. I'll come back and add to this after I have a chance to do a real test on my hair, which already has another hair gloss in it today. I have done a quick sniff of Autumn Leaves & Haitian Patchouli (barely a spray into my palms) and it is a dried leaves and grasses scent. As a quick comparison, the Amber & Patchouli hair gloss is a sweet patchouli scent where the patchouli is very present, and is one of my favorites by far, which is saying a lot since I love my wide variety of hair glosses. This one is not sweet at all, it's Beth's red leaf note found in so many of the autumn scents. The leaves are dry and the patchouli is in the background and adds to the grounded herbal feeling of this. It's definitely not hippie patchouli. Initial impression is that it will be a great autumnal scent, not an "in your face" patchouli scent at all, and would be worn starting in late summer when you are craving autumn but it's too hot to wear your full-on Halloween scents. I can't wait to give it a full test on my hair. Edited to add full test on clean hair and after letting bottle rest a couple of days: FABULOUS!! On towel-dried hair, to comb through tangles, I can smell the patchouli more. After blow-drying with a diffuser, a couple more sprays on the ends. The leaves are there but very well-blended with the patchouli, and it's sweeter on my hair than I first thought it would be, though hardly what one would call a sweet scent. I need a backup bottle STAT. Anyone who loves Beth's scents with leaf notes, buy this now. So warm and autumnal.

    Vampire Red Hair Gloss

Gorgeous red musk and patchouli (make sure you shake this one good to mix everything!) and just enough vetiver to give this vampire a bite! This hair gloss is strong and very long-lasting in my hair. I really want to get a backup bottle because she's just different enough from all my other red musk hair glosses that I will be sad when she's gone.

    Cake Smash

I just noticed that I never reviewed this scent- weird, since I bought a bottle back in the day when it was first released. Cake Smash is definitely red velvet and cream cheese on my skin, and the hints of the BPAL trifecta of creation are there if you look for them. This isn't a scent I wear often, but once in a while I'm in the mood for a sweeter bedtime scent without lavender, and that's when I turn to Cake Smash. The label of Lilith is one of the cutest things ever, too! I treasure my bottle.

    Nasty Woman

I didn't hesitate when Beth announced this scent and immediately ordered two bottles. At least I'm not disappointed in the results of my order! Nasty Woman is a sweet syrupy patchouli scent. The rose never shows on my skin, which is just fine with me. The patchouli is sweetened by the fig, and the whole thing is such a well-blended perfume that you could wear it anywhere (assuming you don't slather like me.) Because I get fig and patchouli most prominently on my skin, this makes me think that Nasty Woman is the scent of (the BPAL Retail-only perfume) Lucifer's mother- she's more refined and classy, where Lucifer is all dark patchouli woods, and fig, and sharper from the vetiver. I love this perfume and am so happy to have it, although certainly not the election results I longed for.

    BPTP & BPAL Layering Combos!

So true! My combos are too numerous to recall from memory right now. I always try to post in the BPTP scent of the day thread, and typically have a combo of BPTP/BPAL products that I'm wearing that day. Now that Weenie season is here, I'm all about my Samhain hair gloss with Samhain; Dead Leaves, Red Musk & Neroli hair gloss and perfume; and Autumn Leaves & Haitian Patchouli hair gloss with practically everything. Yesterday I put some Tricksy hair gloss into one palm, Autumn Leaves/Haitian Patch in another, and put that in my hair, with Tricksy perfume and bath oil as moisturizer. I smelled soooo good! I love it when Puddin' makes a perfume scent into a corresponding Trading Post product!

    Honeyed Apple Bath Oil

I thought I had reviewed this long ago! Time to remedy that omission. This is a lovely red apple, sweetened by the honey. The honey doesn't stand out as a singular note, though, for those who worry about honey. It's beautiful and makes a wonderful autumnal after-bath moisturizer.

    Samhain Hair Gloss

Echoing hammy and Numanoid here. If you already know what Samhain smells like and love it, then what are you waiting for?! BUY THIS NOW!! If you don't think hair gloss is the product for you but you love Samhain, BUY THIS AND WEAR IT AS A BODY SPRAY! You know how sometimes when one of the BPAL/BPTP scents is translated into a different medium and different notes become more prominent than in the original scent? Well Samhain is the truest of the true from perfume to hair gloss. It's that same gorgeous autumn in a bottle scent we all know and love. If you aren't certain from the notes, Samhain smells like nothing else. Fir woods, apples, spiciness, and the essence of Halloween to me. The notes are well-blended but I always get a top note that is slightly menthol. That isn't present in the hair gloss. I hope this sticks around long enough for me to buy a backup bottle because I want to wear this every fall for years to come.

    The Poem Cloud Hair Gloss

I adore red musk and can't stop collecting as many blends with it as I can, so The Poem Cloud was another insta-buy. This is the perfect counter-balance to Smut hair gloss. The Poem Cloud is the good girl to Smut's slutty little sister. I get the comparisons to Infernal Lover as well as Third Charm. This is simply beautiful and the red musk as always, sticks around for a long time in my hair and with my body chemistry. Goes with so many of my perfumes, and I'm happy to have it!

    Departing Like Smoke Hair Gloss

This is a lovely scent, and lighter in feel than I had expected. There are no pencil shavings from this sandalwood. The scent is slightly sweet, gently floral/resin combo from the amber and tiare. The oudh and sandalwood are subtle. This is suitable for any situation, and as a hair gloss, it's another excellent choice.

    Sin Hair Gloss

I guess I forgot to review this one! I bought two bottles when it won the lunacy poll, because I love Sin perfume. Getting it in hair gloss form was going to be a definite win for me. I can't really add to what LiborAmoris and Silvertree said. This is gorgeous Sin, and as a hair gloss it is extremely long-lasting. I even love how it makes the shower smell when I finally rinse it out of my hair. Gorgeous!

    Red Wig Spray

I sprayed a squirt on my arm and smoothed it in to test. The red musk comes out first but is immediately followed by the smoke. Unfortunately for me, the smoke immediately amped into stale cigarette smoke and took over. I absolutely smell like the day after a drunken binge in a smoky night club. However, I've never been a smoker and don't like the smell of stale cigarette smoke clinging to my hair and clothes, so Red is not for me.
  25. Poenari

    Recollection Bath Oil

I use my bath oils as after-shower moisturizers. Recollection is a lovely scent, and very wearable as a scent in any setting. The marshmallow is not overly sweet, it is warmed by the cocoa butter, and the vanilla is mixed into the mèlange, making this a comforting foodie scent. This is a great companion for Stekk, although the cocoa butter makes this a bit heavier in feel than Stekk's light fluffiness.
