Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal
reynardine replied to GypsyRoseRed's topic in Retail Exclusive Oils
In bottle: very fresh citrus scent Wet: grapefruit, ginger and a touch of pepper. Really delicate and pretty. Drydown: Cute, light, bubbly scent. Smells a bit like Ginger Ale, but sweeter. Later: Light throw, lasts a few hours. Need to slather this one. Very refreshing, will be perfect come summer! -
In decant: cherries in rich cream Wet: NOOOOOO!!! It’s plastic!! Drydown: Now it’s really NASTY plastic… Later: Totally nasty. Had to wash off. Monster indeed! (May try in scent locket to see if it works in there better).

In imp: Light fruity scent Wet: Barely there. I can get hints of apricot and pomegranate, but the rest evades me. Drydown: Extremely light apricot/pomegranate scent. Later: Stays around a bit, but is so insubstantial that it might as well not be there. Glad I got to try it, though.

I was tempted by Eden because of the fig and coconut notes, but that sandalwood hit my skin and BOOM!! Allergies went off. I should really know better than to try anything with sandalwood in it, even if it is listed as a last note. :-/

In imp: sharp scent Wet: It hits the notes listed exactly: bourbon, sugar and mint. Curious to see how this dries down on my skin… Drydown: I was afraid of this—my skin is amping the booze, making this turn rather nasty. Washing off.

In bottle: green tea and lemon Wet: green tea and lemon tinged with a bit of musk Drydown: Gorgeous tea and lemon scent. So very pretty! Later: It sticks around, although light. I want to test this alongside F5 and Shanghai to see if I need to get a separate bottle or if those are so similar that one isn’t needed.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

In bottle: Musk and patchouli Wet: Getting mostly patchouli at first. Drydown: Patchouli, patchouli uber alles…wait, there’s some plum, I think? Maybe? A Little? Later: Ah, now THAT’S more like it. The patchouli finally backed down a bit and I’m getting the red fruity scent that everyone is raving about. With musk and patchouli to give it some depth. Still, this is a new bottle—I’d like to age it some and revisit, since that OMGPATCHOULI halflife was way too long. -
In bottle: a touch of carnation? Wet: Creamy with a hint of blossoms, but also a nutty smell? Drydown: Okay, now it kinda smells like honey with orange blossoms. Later: Quite the morpher, this scent. Ends up as a soft, creamy floral (as described) but with a bit of a strange tinge to it. I’m still trying to decide if I like it, but The Man really liked it a lot on me.

In imp: almost cake-like scent. Will this be one of my beloved cake blends? Wet: Cherry, toast and a touch of citrus Drydown: Cherry is starting to blend in now. There is a dry cake-like scent to this, but not sweet like Eat Me was. Later: WOW. This has turned into a really good cake scent with a touch of citrus. I’m going to retest it later, but I might well get a bottle of this one.

I wanted to try this one because I do love the smell of strawberries. In decant: Okay, strawberry Wet: Very sugary strawberry Drydown: Now I’m getting a touch of grass in here. Later: Very candy-like scent, which just isn’t me at all. I’m glad I got a decant of this to try, though!

Tonight I'm wearing Old Moon (a great winter scent!) for the big blue moon outside and for New Year's Day, it will be Mlle. Lilith, Fortune Teller.

In bottle: a very fresh, clean scent. With limes. Wet: Limes and mint, with a touch of musk. Drydown: Very refreshing citrus with a touch of salt Later: Now I’m getting the green tea. Wonderful scent, although I’m going to set my bottle aside now and wait until summer to wear this again.

When I first tried this one on, it was HEAVY ROSE. Very heavy. Too much for me and I like rose! But upon giving this time to dry down, it morphed. The rose backed off (although still very dominant) and the other florals came into play, making this a really beautiful scent. And I was about to put it on the swaps pile! Nope, this little lady is a keeper!

In bottle: sharp, pungent scent Wet: Oooh, bitter is right! I’m getting dirt and vetiver! Drydown: Okay, it looks like my skin amps vetiver, which is unfortunate because I just don’t like that smell. I was hoping the other elements might balance this out, but that’s not happening. Later: No, this one just isn’t working on me at all. Off to the swaps pile with you!
-
In imp: rich plum scent Wet: Oh, heavenly! The black currant and amaretto mix with the plum. This is almost creamy! Drydown: Nice creamy plummy scent Later: Not a lot of staying power…only lasted a couple of hours. Will use up the imp, though!
-
In imp: buttery smell Wet: Weird! The minute this stuff hit my skin, it turned to rum! Drydown: the rum is calming down and I’m starting to get mead now, with some nuttiness. Later: Interesting scent, predominately rum. Too boozy for me. Off to swaps.
-
In imp: dragon’s blood and not much else Wet: dragon’s blood and a bit of apple now. Has some possibilities. Drydown: Now the florals are coming out from behind the Dragon’s Blood and they’re lovely. Later: This is a gorgeous scent. I want to test it again before deciding if I want a bottle, but will certainly use up this imp!

I wanted carnation or plum, but the musk completely overwhelmed this scent. Heavy throw—starts out strong and doesn’t stop! Way too perfumey for my tastes. Off to swaps pile!

This one turned into cherries and cream with a hint of cake. The vanilla sometimes has a bit of the Plastic Doom note that ruins so many vanillas for me, but the sweetness of the cherry seems to keep it from completely turning plastic. Lasts about four hours. May be best utilized in scent locket on me.

In bottle: very light floral, not particularly impressive Wet: the floral gets more profound. I’m picking up musk, lily, osmanthus and hyacinth. Drydown: Starting to get the ylang ylang now and some other notes that seem Asian. Interesting morphing here. I didn’t particularly like this one at first, but now I do. Later: very lovely soft floral. A dress-up-for-Church type scent

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

In decant: Smells a bit like fresh strawberries on cake, a bit buttery Wet: WHOA CAKE!! The Man could smell it from across the room!! Drydown: Calming down into a sweet and tasty cake with strawberries and cream. Not getting any carnation or grapefruit. Later: Still there a few hours later. What a great scent—AND I just managed to score a bottle, too! -
In decant: bright apple Wet: very bright apple and cranberry. Reminds me a lot of Pomona with its sharpness. Drydown: Cider with cranberries in it. Very crisp and clean. Later: Great autumn fragrance and I’m glad I got to try it, but probably won’t try to find a bottle unless they resurrect it some year. Then I’ll be all over it! ;-D

In imp: Really sweet-smelling fruity blend (maybe the grapefruit dominating?) Wet: Sweet flowers with a touch of fruit Drydown: lovely scent of fruit and flowers, rather delicate but with a nice throw Later: Extremely pretty fruity-floral blend. I’m putting this on my eventual bottle list.
-
In imp: apple scent Wet: Ooooh, this is BITTER apple! Drydown: smells like apple cider with mulling spices Later: Cider, pure cider. Too bitter for my tastes. To the trade pile.

Huckleberry, white rose, tangerine, nicotiana, lemon blossom, and Fool's Parsley. I tried a decant of this and was pleasantly surprised. In decant: rose and tangerine Wet: mainly getting the sharpness of nicotiana Drydown: Sweetening up now, getting the huckleberry. The rose and tangerine are coming back, too. Later: This blooms into a lovely wet floral with a slight herbal edge. Very pretty. Glad I got to try it, will certainly use up my decant. (EDIT: Added description since this was the top of the page.)
