I was recently frimped some gun moll and I hesitate to review it due to my wretched cold from hell that just won't go away. Everything smells terrible on me atm and even my favorites are noxious so I assume this will be even more appealing when I am feeling better. Yes appealing and it isn't my style. I am getting bergamot heavy zinginess from this and finding it very refreshing. Not cloying, heavy, sexy or any of the other reviews. Maybe a hint of gunpowder. As a lover of all the notes listed except for bergamot and ummm gunpowder I am surprised I am enjoying this since that is all I am getting from it. Will be back laters when my nose isn't broken

I Feel the Need! (For Smells)

Defututa is a definite favorite of mine. I am not sure it is a gentle skin scent. I might amp something in it tho.... it reads as very heady to my nose. But I second the suggestion in regards to it's beauty. -

using the Lab's new fabulous search page I peeked at honeycomb and honey scents… the two that popped out at me as soft skin scents were Dana O'Shea and Door obatala is a sweet gentle skin scent but to my nose the coconut makes it a just washed off the suntan lotion but it is still lingering…. a summer day skin scent to me. It is lovely -
Help! Looking for spun sugar/cotton candy type scents
elka_knits replied to Alethia's topic in Recommendations
PS mouse circus smells like buttered popcorn heavy on the buttered.... it is not spun sugar at all to my nose. I am pretty sure I disliked it enough to frimp out my tester. And I rarely do that. I am a hoarder. A bpal hoarder. nods nods -
wait wait wait a minute...Bathsheba was reformulated? I have a bottle from '06 and decided I loved it so much I purchased a back up ummm a year or two ago. By older labels do you mean pre yellow things they use now? Off to check labels. Off to check and see if they smell different... I saw no sense in opening the back up while I still have one in use until this. What is this? Are you sure that it smells different?

Help! Looking for spun sugar/cotton candy type scents

High Strung Daisies smells like spun sugar to me: Daisy, pink carnation, pink pepper, and sugar. It is so sweet you can feel the crunch of the sugar... you know how cotton candy has the slight crunch then stickiness. yeah -
this I wish were available all the time... I don't see a rich sugared fruit in the line up so as far as I know nothing else comes close. Really delicious.

hmmmm so I love this. I am loving peach as a note thanks to dragon con.. I had peach scents sitting in my imp and decant pile but had never tried them so new note to love. It is clean and fresh. I don't really smell a lot of stuff in my hair after a bit but it isn't all heavy incense to my nose. I have had several people comment on how good it smells on me tho. One gal starts sniffing around asking who is wearing patchouli... I had to say it was my hair gloss even tho patch isn't what I get or listed for that matter. One of those incense is patchouli people I guess. i hate reviewing glosses. I am so bad at it. But I wanted to share the fact that everybody seems to love it when I wear it

I am not fond of fir or pine scents but decided to give this an honest to goodness squirt just in case. {I do like christmas trees and their piney scents so maybe good for holidays?} In the squirt it smells fake and soapy. Not soapy really but like those air fresheners we had in in the 80s in restaurant type bathrooms... Pine renizits or something. Which had some odd soapy tinge probably because restaurant bathrooms should hopefully smell like people are washing and that horrid industrial soap would spill its pink disgustingness all over the place. So the two scents: pine and pink soap are intertwined in my head. Unfortunate really. I am sure others would find this lovely but as usual pine and fir and all those evergreen type tree scents have some horrid association for me unless it happens to be real and decorated with blobs and blobs of twinkling lights. It does morph into a lovely floral with the pine underneath it. Alas the merest hint of pine, after the assault of pine and soap, is too much. If it had started floral with a hint of pine I would consider this a use it up but wouldn't buy myself a big bottle. I feel really really bad writing this out. I wish the evergreens somehow managed not to be top notes in everything I have tried with them. I always do enjoy them after dry down but the beginning stages just really make me uber sensitive to the merest hint of the scent.

BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?

My 10 yr old has been gifted with 2 full bottles of MILK CHOCOLATE WITH MACADAMIA NUT, COCONUT, BUTTOM MUSHROOM, AND MARSHMALLOW {Had to copy that one cus the name in my head is shroomy chocolate} and 2 bottles of Gluttony. She has been wearing Gluttony for years ALAS the future commercial perfume wearing kids in her school told her Gluttony smelled horrible and she won't wear it anymore. I think she has a few other bottles as well... beaver moon or strawberry moon or something like that. She does the foody obviously. I have totally forgotten what I have given her since when she hit 8 I let her house her own bottles in her own little box in her own room. But I remember the gluttony and mean girls whenever I see a request for it..... I wonder if she would mind my swapping it? -
I have a friend who is big on orange blossom... she swears Paramatman is pure orange blossom on her... orange blossom, east indian sandalwood, champaca
-
I get neroli from water snake even tho it is not listed... perhaps because it has a syrupy vibe to me... and mandarin instead of orange. Still I swore there was neroli in it to somebody lately. I noticed it as neroli instead of orange or mandarin or tangerine after wearing peach V.

huh I haven't reviewed this one... Well I got it when it was released cus hello pumpkin my love I amp dust. This was the scent that made me realize dust, dirt, earth anything was a total pass. In the bottle gorgeous rich pumpkin. I adore it to no ends. I put it on and all I could smell was muck. The leather was the note I was worried about since leather is also an amper on me but nope I didn't even smell the leather because the dust turned into a fracking mudslide and buried me in grossness. I still have my bottle {actually an imp or two in bottle cus the kind decantress knows I am both a pumpkin lover and a bottle art hoar} and sniff it every once in a while for the yum-o but every time I retest just in case age helped I am forced to wash it off. On me this went on Urdish and then the peach softened it up beautifully in say about an hour. I do not like Urd finding it too heavy fyi. So this was lovely. On me it lasts forever and ever and ever. I could still smell it easily the next day when I went for my shower whereas all the other peaches had faded into a lovely memory. By smell it easily I mean it was going strong. Will come back with more review notes but that was my initial test.

I die... seriously I die. This is heaven in a bottle. I love it love it love it. Perfection. I may have to give up trying other hair glosses for this one. Or maybe it is just that I think it will be awesome sauce come fall and winter and it is weenie stalking time so yeah .... the ginger is reading as a faintly zingy fruity scent to me. The oudh is adding a wee bit of smokiness and then bam in yer face resin. Sweet sweet resin~~ those little nuggets of golden olfactory bliss. I need another bottle.... why 6 months shelf life? Is that once it is opened? How can I hoard it if I have to throw it away in 6 months? Oh no.... wibbles

WHIRLING WIND MOON Swiftly walk o'er the western wave, Spirit of Night! Out of the misty eastern cave, Where, all the long and lone daylight, Thou wovest dreams of joy and fear, 'Which make thee terrible and dear, — Swift be thy flight! Dreams of joy and fear: swirling dark and airy musks, mogra, plumeria, hyacinth, lily of the valley, dry white sandalwood, raw white ginger, gardenia, pale amber, and oakmoss. Really? Nobody has reviewed this? Or have they been reviewing it on the previous year incarnation? Mods feel free to whoosh Not nearly as floral as it sounded more's the pity. Or musky or anything. How does Beth & Co manage to surprise me time and time again with unexpected loveliness? It feels cool, like a man's cologne ~ bracing almost. And there is movement to it as well. When I put it on today I was sad until I went outside and the chill in the air combined with this was just so perfect and crisp. Not my style at all because well I was hoping for floral and musks and I cannot get any of the listed notes out of this at all. MAYBE ginger and oak moss. It does have that aquatic feel that Spanish Moss SN has~ not a floral not herbacious but wet and sultry. Only crisp instead of steamy. I also get cucumber from this. That happens a lot with mossy and or aquatics so shrugs. I am the worst person for reviewing this kind of scent since it is out of my realm of what I wear.

In the bath I smell mainly orange pekoe but on my skin I get mainly rice milk... Very gentle and soothing scent. I use a lot of bath oils because I'm an insomniac and bathing {or showering} before bed helps one sleep. Something about the body being warm and cooling down mimics what our body does as it goes to sleep so warm bath/shower to cooler room temp starts the relaxation process. According to rumor and my personal experience. The trading post bath oils I have used so far have been purposefully chosen to be calming and this one is the faintest of the bunch I have tried. I do have some heavier resinous oils but I haven't put them to the helping me sleep test yet. Anyway if you are looking for something that will not mess with your scent du jour this one is a really good choice. Also last time I tested Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds I was strongly reminded of Aunt Rosie's so if you like that you might want to hunt some of this down. edited to strengthen comparison of Roses, Pearls & Diamonds to Aunt Rosie's.

Halp! Recommendations for an absolute Newbie
elka_knits replied to russalka's topic in Recommendations
dragons milk fwiw ages really well. That cherry cough drop syrup vibe tends to go away with some age. The culprit would most likely be dragons blood which often reads as cherry. I used to dislike dragons milk but wore it because my now husband liked it and honestly it is very faint on my skin after a wee bit. I have a 7 yr old bottle and a 1 yr old bottle and let me tell you that it only gets more glorious as it ages. The imp I recently got from lab is peeyuckie compared to the old. All this is to say you might want to hold onto that imp for say 6 months and try it again. Or try ignoring the scent for first hour you have it on and sniff again.... that deep dry down is much more indicative of what it will smell like when it is older than the fresh just applied scent. elka the dragon's blood pusher -
I apparently amp strawberries which may explain why I don't own any scents with the note....usually they are really fake and plasticy with a strong green stem to them but this, this, oh my... I am getting strawberry jam enriched with rose petals... very sweet and warm and oozing. That sounds kinda gross but I honestly sense a warm jam or compote dripping off of a warm piece of toast tho not toast cus toast is not sweet. It really is, on me, that dribble of strawberry preserves that you quickly lick up before it plops down to the plate. Luckily it lasts for a long time. I kept getting whiffs of strawberry late the next day. I love love and am sad that I cannot do another lab order until the next update which I suspect will coincide with takedown.

this one was the bat I was least excited about. I almost didn't pick it up cus of the vetiver. In fact I just tried it on today, despite having it for a couple of weeks, because it reeks of vetiver when you open the bottle and well yuck to vetiver. First few minutes all vetiver all the time then the licorice comes out and it smells like a really really strong licorice candy. I swore I could taste Good n Plenty since the vetiver harshened up the licorice and that is the harshest licorice I can think of. okay I thought of altoids for a minute with their curiously strong but I don't know if they have a licorice flavor. After a say half hour I started getting plum but not sweet juicy plum. I could literally see the green-ish flesh with the deep purple skin bleeding into it but it was a flavorless plum. More the fleshiness and promise of plum than plum itself. Since then~ now at an hour~ I am getting sweetness and I can only assume that is the immortelle {with which I am unfamiliar} and the resinous sandalwood. yeah I know sandalwood is a wood but since it appears in many incense blends I think of it as resinous. What a trip Still unsure about this one but honestly.... What a Trip.
