In the vial: Sugary grapefruit. On: As usual with all other citrus scents, this one goes straight to floor cleaner. Reminds me of the air freshener we use at work. I didn't think it would work, but figured I'd try. Verdict: I really wanted to like this one.
-
In the vial: Creamy vanilla. On: Starts out a little foody, but morphs into a lovely warm vanilla amber. It's very calming, kind of like a comfort scent. Good throw and super staying power -- almost 5 hours later and it's still there! This is the first vanilla ever to not go plastic on me. Verdict: Most definitely a keeper. I'll be picking up a bottle when the imp is gone. ADDED May 5: In the vial: Sweet and fruity. On: Immediately turns to powder, but it's a sweet powder that I can stand. After a few minutes it becomes a murky powder. Verdict: I had to try this since it is from Alice in Wonderland, but while it smells great in the vial, it doesn't work for me.

Bottle: Sugary cake. On: Fruit, icing, cake...delicious! It's very much like Monsterbait: Bloody Mary. On drydown I get a plastic powder sugar when I inhale directly from my wrist, but wafting up, it's still as good as ever. Sadly it fades way too quickly. I'm going to try this again, perhaps in a locket, because I really want to like it. ETA: Before I went to class last night, I pretty much slathered this on. As soon as I walked into class, my teacher asked what I was wearing (Umm.... ). So this time the throw and stay time were very good. And I got no plastic smell. I'm going to see how long the imp lasts before I decide about buying a bottle.

In the bottle: Grapefruit and slightly burnt vanilla. On: A weird mix of sunblock and scented plastic (like a Strawberry Shortcake doll). The florals came out upon drydown, but every now and then I still got a whiff of the grapefruit. After a few hours all fades away except the vanilla, but it still smells very fake. Verdict: This is indeed a very fluffy, poofy, twirly scent, but that's apparently not right for me.
-
In the bottle: Vanilla musk. A little boozy. On: Like linens that have been in a room with burning incense. It drys down to a dark, smokey sugar with pretty good throw and staying power. Verdict: From the description alone, I never would have thought I'm like this, but I'm going to have to find more.
-
In the bottle: Sage and sandalwood. On: Frankincense joins the sage and sandalwood. On drydown lemon gets amped up (again!) and the scent goes all powdery on me. And fades very fast. Verdict: Swap pile only because I don't see myself wearing it enough to keep.
-
In the bottle: Spicy floral. On: Turns to pure lemon. After a while the lemon fades to a nice herby not, but I can't take the initial half hour of smelling like Pledge. Verdict: Another one for the swap pile.
-
In the bottle all I got were strong florals and something bitter and unplesant. I got some on my fingers while openning the imp and had an allergic reaction, so this is definitely going in the swap pile.
-
In the bottle: Crisp green and sweet On: Same as in the bottle, but the freesia and wood take turns being prominent. A nice light scent that's perfect for hot summer days. Great throw, but fades quickly. Verdict: I absolutely love this! A bottle will be in my next order.
-
In the bottle: Sweet syrupy cherries (not the fake kind!) over cream. On: Powdered sugar with a faint hint of caramel. The sugar smells so real it's almost scary. On drydown, the cream and cherry mix into the sugar along with some super juicy red fruit. This scent literally screams 'red!'. Hours later everything is still there, a little fainter, but still as delicious. Verdict:
-
In the bottle: Bamboo and orange. On: Same as in the bottle, but turns into a green floral on drydown. Wisteria and cherry really come through with persimmon popping up about 10 minutes later. Everything blends from one to the other very well. It's a happy scent. Verdict: This is such a lovely little raccoon dog. Now to find a bottle...
-
In the bottle: All sage. It's like green in a bottle. On: Very soapy, but not an unpleasant soap. Very simple and calming. Drys down into a light clean floral. Verdict: I seem to be on a roll with finding florals that actually work on me. This is nothing at all like I expected and I can see myself wearing it a lot.
-
In the bottle: Sweet pea and cucumber. I had to roll the imp to mix the oils because at first all I got was sour pickles. On: Damn those pickles! They're back! Drydown: All peony and sweet pea. The moss and cucumber linger in the background. It stays just like that and fades within a few hours. The throw is limited to my personal space. Verdict: This is a really gorgeous springtime scent. I'll have to try it in my hair next.
-
On the bottle: Incense and cologne. On: Peppery cologne with a faint hint of incense and smokey woods. I love to smell it on a guy. Verdict: This is very comforting in a way. It isn't something I'd think would work for me, but it does.

Strangly, this is the exact same reaction I got. Mine was also a frimp, but in the bottle I got all nutmeg and spices. It made me want some eggnog. Quite nice. But on...pure licorice. I had to run to the kitchen so I could wash it off.
-
In the bottle: Musky floral with a powdery undertone. On: Powdery mint, like a stick of sugar free gum (that is the first thing that came to mind!), that morphs into a lovely sweet floral. Unfortunately it fades very quickly and has virtually no throw. Verdict: This was a frimp that I'd otherwise never have even thought would work on me, but I'm thrilled to finally find a floral that doesn't make me sneeze. I may not wear this all the time, but it's definitely a keeper.
-
In the bottle: Sweet mint with some sort of menthol-floral note. On: Same as in the bottle, but a little lighter. After about an hour, it's pure mint, and then just fades away completely. Verdict: It's lovely, but I'm not much of a mint person.
-
In the bottle: Pure lemon On: It was like a sprayed myself with Pledge Furniture Cleaner. Although it does lighten up after a bit, the jasmine and woods are completely over powered by citrus. Verdit: Lemon tends to go wonky on me. Sadly, because I love all the other notes in this one.
-
In the bottle: Strong florals with a hint of light citrus. On: Intense peppery florals. Drys down to an all flower old lady perfume. Good throw. Verdict: Goes all wrong on me, although it smells great just in the bottle.
-
In the bottle: Pure musk. Reminds me of Baby Soft Musk. On: It gets so much stronger on. Morphs into a smokey kind of musk on the drydown. This would smell great on a guy. Great throw. Verdict: This is a way too strong for me. I'm bummed because I love dragon's blood.
-
In the bottle: Black tea with honey. On: I get honey and lemon up front, with a nice tea undernote. And it stays like that until I wash it off. Verdict: This is a beautiful, comforting scent. Lemon tends to go all industrial strength cleaner on me, but this one is absolute love. ETA: I just saw that there are no lemon notes in this...hmmm
-
In the bottle: Ick! Like perfume that's been left in the sun too long. And a hint of pickle juice. haha On: Clean and soapy, but in a good way. I'm not a big fan of florals, so I'm not good at picking single notes out, but this is a good blend. Verdict: Florals usually go all old lady on me, but this one is nice. I'll have to remember to use it very sparingly.
-
In the bottle: A spicy musk. On: Kind of like a sweet cake that has been left to burn. It's not that bad, but at the same time makes me a little sick. The scent does lighten up after awhile. Verdict: After about half an hour of wearing this, my wrists broke out in hives. It's not a loss, though, because this scent just wasn't for me.
-
In the imp: Vanilla, almonds, and spices. On: Brown sugar and molasses with cherry peeking through. Verdict: I can't stand the thought of even eating fruitcake, but if it was anything like this scent I bet things would change! I don't think I'll be wearing it a lot outside of the holidays, but this is definitely a keeper.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
DogNPonyShow replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
A very good friend of mine goes through the big bottles of Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker like water, so I was wondering if there was a BPAL that would match it? Or even a bunch that I could get as imps so she could mix them. "Lovely is a beautiful blend of mandarin, rosewood, lavender, apple martini and bergamot. The heart is of orchid, patchouli and finishes off to cedar, white amber, woods and musk." Thanks!
