There is something really FOODY in this blend. Smells like some sort of… cookie? Or a bread roll? I know there’s black tea in here too, but there’s something kind of… vile about it. There’s something in here that smells almost like black licorice, which makes my stomach turn. As it dries down on my skin I can smell some lemon, which is very refreshing over that foody, gross, licorice smell. Unfortunately, it doesn’t completely overpower the licorice. I drink loose leaf black tea and... well this does NOT smell like any black tea I've ever drank before. I'm not sure what my problem note could be. White and green tea seem to work very nicely on me. Honey, vanilla, and ginger I've had in other blends and they were fine... But this is the first blend I've tried that had a "pepper" note to it. So maybe that could be it?

Sweet in the imp and as soon as it hit my skin I KNEW there was a citrus fruit in there! Wasn't sure WHAT at first, since this was a frimp from the lab. I'm sure the apple blossom is the "sweet" in this blend. The white tea is definitely there but I'm not sure if I can detect the ginger at all. Definitely the weakest note on my skin, with the grapefruit and apple blossom fighting for dominance! This is very beautiful and it evokes the image of "spring" in my mind. Really glad the lab frimped me this!

Frimp from the lab! I guess it was to go with the Embalming Fluid I ordered. Very similar notes in here, but this is almost a single note lime on my skin with a hint of white musk, unlike EF where I got a mixture of lemon and green tea so they're different enough to where this doesn't offend me. Not really getting the matcha at all and the hibiscus MIGHT be in there somewhere. I think it's hiding under all the lime! I find I actually really enjoy the lime note though! This would make a lovely spring/summer scent. Or something nice to apply when you want to feel clean. I guess I just associate lemon/lime scents with "clean". Edit: Just wanted to say, I must have a bottle of this! I think I actually like this more than Embalming Fluid!

Frimp from the lab and... I like it! It's a sweet floral blend. On my skin during the first application, there was something underlying that smelt a little piney, but not overwhelmingly so. That pretty much disappears on the dry down and it becomes just a sweet floral. It's very pleasant and pretty. Not too sweet, not too cloying. And, at least for me, not soapy at all. Glad I was frimped this! Definitely planning on putting it in my "scent rotation".

When I very first applied this to my skin it was SUPER SWEET and then immediately, it was all lily of the valley. There is something soapy about it too but I'm fairly certain that's lily of the valley. After a couple of minutes, the rose begins to come out to play and it seems to get less soapy. This is very pretty scent and I think my mom will like it a lot. I got this one with her in mind because she loves lily of the valley and roses.

Oh wow, this is amazing. Smells just like champagne with a hint of strawberry. It even smells bubbly to my nose! It gets a bit more "sugary" on the dry down. Very true to the labs description. And a very fun scent!

I can now answer my own question. Zephyr reminds me a LOT of Queen Mab. I'm fairly certain they share at least two or three notes with each other. But now I am fearful of Zephyr getting the boot. -
White musk, sandalwood, and vanilla! Those are the notes that jump out at me on my initial sniff. It's sweet and pleasant and it DOES remind me of Queen Mab, although it's definitely different. The florals come out more on the dry down and the lemon peeks up just a bit. I MUST have a bottle of this. Like, right now. RIGHT NOW.

On me, Black Opal is a light vanilla musk with something else in the background... I can't describe it. I can smell it there, but whatever it is, it evokes the "black" in "Black Opal"! A very lovely scent that evokes it's image perfectly. I originally got this because I saw reviews mention "coconut" but this is definitely a vanilla scent to my nose and on my skin.

You know, I LOVE this. Embalming Fluid was like a lemony kick to the face, but in a good way! But I can definitely detect the green tea and aloe under that lemon. This scent is refreshing. So clean and pleasant. I can see why other people might get "Lemon Pledge" or "cleaning fluid", but those to my nose do not smell like a true lemon. This is true lemon plus some lovely green tea. Unfortunately, I don't really detect the white musk in this. There was a lemon perfume that I really liked to wear that was somewhat ruined by an association with someone I dislike, and Embalming Fluid will be a unique replacement for that. Now I really want some Green Tea Pocky.

Little backstory: The big reason I bought this scent was because someone who I was very fond of, but who I no longer speak with, had a habit of calling me "Marigold". My birthday is in October and marigolds are the birth flower for that month. So when I saw BPAL had a marigold scent, I had to have it. I'm so glad I got this. In the bottle, it's a lovely, bright, and sweet smelling floral. The sweetness at first made me think "fruity" but it's definitely more like "nectar". On my skin, it gets a wee bit powdery, but still stays true to the scent in the bottle. The vision this scent evokes is a field of lovely orange flowers on a cool clear autumn day. Absolutely love this. Edit for 2013 Version: It smells exactly like the old version actually! Unfortunately, my intial love for the scent has faded away. The sweetness I talked about intially has become very cloyingly sweet to my nose. The sweetness gets worse as my 2010 bottle ages, and it's not quite as bad with the brand new one. I think my skin chemistry has changed a lot in the past few years, I seem to make a lot of scents that were only a little sweet into uberly sickly sweet.

You know, my go to scent after Queen Mab was DCed was... Phantom Queen. Now that's been DCed, I dunno what to do. They both had a similar vibe to me. Any suggestions out there? -
I'm surprised that Titania is peachy to you guys! For me, it's a grapey floral. I'm not 100% sure what moonflower smells like but the floral I got from Titania was lovely and bright, and it made me think of a pretty yellow color, although Titania overall for me invokes a light purple/lilac kind of color in my mind. It looks like Pannychis has moonflower in it, but I've never tried it. I do believe it's on my list of "things to try" though.

Gosh, I just love stuff like this so maybe I'll give it a try too. I'm 26 years old. My zodiac sign is Scorpio Sun, Scorpio Moon, and Libra Rising! I work night-shift in a lab at a hospital. I really like my job and my co-workers. I've always been kind of a night owl. I'm pretty goofy and I can be a little absent minded too. I'm also a little bit shy when I first meet people and I tend to need a lot of "me" time. I love to sleep. Does that count as a hobby? I'm very much into video games and anime too. For anime, I'll give any genre a chance. For video games I prefer RPGs or simulation type games, but I also really love survival horror games like Silent Hill. I love spooky, supernatural type stories. I like reading about astrology, tarot cards, ouija boards, haunted objects/places, strange dreams, all those sorts of things. Halloween is definitely my favorite time of year! I enjoy horror movies as well, although I tend to like more "psychological" horror than the gore type stuff. I'll watch any type of movie though, the only genre I gravitate to is horror but I won't reject anything else. Some of my other favorite movies include Back to the Future, The Dark Knight, and Grease. A bit wacky, huh? As far as music goes, I love oldies. The Moody Blues, The Beatles, Tom Petty, and the like. I'm a HUGE U2 fan. I also love Muse and Keane. I like to dress and smell nice. I love jewelry, mostly pendants and rings. I'm a red head, and I like to keep my hair long. As far as perfume goes my most favorite BPALs are Queen Mab, Roses Pearls & Diamonds, and Phantom Queen. The notes I like the most tend to be fruits and florals! I love rose the most! Orchid seems to do well on my skin too. I love pomegranate, grape, and apple. Really, I'll give any fruit or floral a try. I don't really like "dark" musks, but I've found BPAL blends that have "white" musk in them play very nice on my skin. I don't mind lemon scents either, but I'm not crazy about orange. Haha, this was longer than I intended! But a lot of fun! I hope you guys can recommend some things for me that I may have over looked on my own search through BPAL.

Sweet, powdery, floral, like I could imagine a floral candy smelling like this. In a way, it conjures up memories of how Kitsune-Tsuki smelled when I tried it, except this isn't as over poweringly sweet as K-T was. It seems a little bit generic to me too. It is a pretty scent, but it doesn't seem all that special to me either. I don't know how often I'd wear this, it falls too much into smelling like candy than a fruity or sweet floral. Edit: I'm actually finding that I do like this quite a bit. It still reminds me of sweet, floral candy and when I first sniffed it it didn't really seem like a "me" scent. But I've been giving it a second go around, because I felt like it had potential, and I'm liking it a lot more. Definitely worthy of having the imp used up. I'd also like to add, this has pretty good throw on my skin and also the staying power is also pretty good. Edit 2: I officially love this scent. The more I wear it, the more I like it. There's something about it that's bright and comforting. Makes me feel happy. Like, the image I get from this blend is just a bright, happy, yellow color.

Smells EXACTLY like a real rose. I'm a big fan of anything rosey and given how much I adore the fairy tale this one is inspired by, I love this x 9001. It's definitely an innocent/"young" rose, in the same way Persephone is, in my mind anyway. It doesn't seem like it has a heck of a lot of throw, but it's staying power is pretty good. I may get a bottle of this!
-
Frimp from the lab. I'll admit, I'm not familiar with any of the notes on their own so... This one is starts off very sweet, like super sweet bubblegum, in the bottle and on my skin. As it "dries down", it gets less sweet, calms down a bit, and it smells like a pleasantly sweet incense. It's much less "bubblegum" and more fruity now. It's pretty, but not my style.
-
Super sickly sweet, no roses, all orange and honey. Very gross. I let this one age a few months to see if it would help but I think it's actually gotten sweeter and more orange. I can't see myself wearing this all that often, or buying another imp.

In the bottle I can really smell the coconut. On my skin, it's rose, coconut, and musk. It's a wonderful combination, very creamy and sweet on my skin. Almost becoming more like vanilla, rose, and a gentle musk! I usually prefer lighter musks and they tend to smell really nice on my skin. In my mind's eye, this scent is white, creamy, and wonderful. I think this might be my favorite rose blend that I've tried. I could totally see myself getting a bottle of this. I'd like to add, this has a pretty good throw on me and usually if a scent has a lot of throw on my skin, it's also going to end up with a lot of staying power. We'll see how it goes! Edit: Yep, it had pretty darn good staying power. I'd say between 5-7 hours on my skin.

Oh my, this is definitely not my kind of scent. It's very woody in the imp, and woody on my skin. In fact, it smells like burnt wood! I don't detect any tangerine in this at all, but there is something sweet to it. Sweet, burnt wood. It definitely feels more masculine to me than feminine. Unfortunately, this one doesn't do it for me at all.

First sniff, all I can smell is the "dirty hippy" patchouli. No floral at all. It smells kinda icky in the imp. I gave it a chance on my skin. It gets muuuuuuuch more floral on my skin though. I smell a tiny hint of rose and tea, I'm guessing what I'm smelling may be mostly gardenia or perhaps the gladiola? It's a sweet floral but not in an over powering way, and both gardenia and gladiola are described as having a "sweet" scent. The amber is definitely there, especially on the dry down. Not really detecting the patchouli anymore. My initial review was way too harsh and not as helpful as I thought it could have been so I'm revising it today. I'm still thinking this isn't exactly a "me" scent though. If I had to give this scent a color, I'd give it a kind of deep red. It makes me think of sleeping in a chair in the corner of a darkened room with long red drapes during a warm. sunny day, with just a little of sunlight cracking through the slightly opened drapes.

Oh my gosh, this is amazing. This was a frimp in my order from the lab and the apple is... wonderful. It's different from "Poisoned Apple" which I tried just last night. Apple is at the top but there's something sort of floral but "green" in there too. I wouldn't call it "herbal" though. It's pleasant and clean smelling to me, different from the "dark" vibe that "Poisoned Apple" had. Now that it's been on my skin for about 10 minutes, it smells much more floral to me, with the apple floating in the background. As a fan of both fruit and florals, this one gets two thumbs up from me.

Frimp from the lab. Dragon's blood! All dragon's blood to my nose, which smells a lot like lilacs to me. I can smell the amber wafting around in the background, but only just a tiny little bit, at first. Now the scent is drying down, and I'm getting a lot less of the dragon's blood and more like something... a bit powdery and gold. Which I'm guessing is the amber. I'll admit to you guys, I'm not sure what amber smells like on it's own. Anytime I've worn amber, it's been part of a blend, never on it's own. It's turning kind of warm and resiny, the Dragon's Blood is fading off into the background. It's a pleasant enough scent, not something I would have picked for myself though.

The Dark Side of Water: clean and purifying, yet menacing -- lotus and juniper with a hint of mint. A scent dragged up from the depths to the Stygian shore. This was a frimp from the lab! Mint and lotus on my initial application! Lotus always smells really sweet to me, almost fruity but not. It also smells kind of mentholated? My nose can feel the chill. It also smells a bit like, and this might sound weird, a pine tree? I guess not, looking up at some of the previous reviews! Oh my, now it's starting to smell like crayons. That's very strange. Minty crayons! I know I can wear lotus just fine, not so sure about mint, but I'm gonna hash a guess and say the culprit is the juniper. Oh well.

HAHAH! When I opened this imp up I went, "...OOOOOOOOH! OH! THAT'S APPLE! O_O" So yes, I'm kinda digging this one. I know it says "red apple" in the description but I can't help imaging this as a light, green apple, sort of glowing with poison. It's delicious smelling! There's something else to it, lurking behind the apple, that makes this scent darker and sexy. It almost seems kind of sweet and musky on my skin, the longer it stays on me. I like this one a lot. Anyone who is specifically looking for an "apple" scent, give this one a try for sure. I just wanted to add, I wore this to work tonight, and it has a pretty damn good staying power. Usually, I have to reapply my other oils more than twice a night, but this one I could still smell on myself till nearly 4am after applying at 10pm. Very nice.
