    The Brides of Dracula

A very delicate and mildly spicy floral. When first applied it revved up upon my skin as heavy old ladie's perfume. I figured it was the lillies as they always seem to do so upon my skiin. After awhile it slowly mellowed out with the combination of the girly florals and the plum blossom it reminded me very much of kindly moon. The drydown in fact where Kindly moon is more in its drydown similar to the Brides of Dracula. I was happy to try it but gave it to my mother whom is a fan of white florals as well. Well done Beth!

My skin seems to swallow up this one. Heady and but in a sweet way. It turns to baby powder upon me in a bit. Oh well, can't win them all.

    The Candy Butcher 2006

I love this scent! As the climate definately turns colder this gives the impression to my body that I'm drinking a rich cup of coco with mashmellows in it. The rich scent wafts and lingers for what seems hours. A rich and very beautiful scent, definately a horde worthy bottle.

    Treat #2

Like others have said, this is like the empty box of chocolates leaving the lingering sensation of all the different blends together. It's mostly mouthwatering spicy chocolate with orange upon me. The chocolate and the orange are truest with each of the blends coming in and out leaving their marks but just keeping those two over time. The orange at the end just edges out the chocolate. A very grown up delish delight, thanks labbies!

    Sri Lanka

Indian sandalwood and cedar, and the dry incense smoke of olibanum, gum mastic, patchouli and myrrh. As of right now I'm in a Geography Class hightlighting many of the different Asian Countries. Sir Lanka reminded me of that so which a quick glance at the notes, I put this bad boy on to test him out. After testing Hemlock and Sir Lanka almost side by side, it smells almost the same. While Hemlock is a bit heady spicy pine that turns sweet on me over time, Sir Lanka is the same spicness that the Hemlock kept but without the same span. It's nice, but it's not for me.

    Hemlock

Simply Put: A very spicy warm green perfume, in the beginning it's a blast of heavy pine with a recenious spiciness in the foreground. As it dries the spiciness places more up front that which all the pine disappears to just a hint of what it once was. Pretty color oil, had high hopes from the first sniff but not something that I'd want to wear regularally.

    The Phantom Calliope

In the bottle: Dark and Sweet. Cassia, Pathcoulli and Black Cherry. Upon the arm: The verbena is just all swallowed up. What Cardamom is I can't smell it. It's just the same, Dark and sweet. Patchoulli and Black Cherry. 5 minutes later: Spicy Cherries is a really good description because that's all it is. 20 minutes later: Cassia and Pathcouli. Really spicy and dark. I don't know if it'll wear it often but I'll definately treasure the bottle. It makes me feel like a bad girl but not one that someone could spot in leather and heels. One that is like the calliope that this is named after, upon the edge and closer then you think. ADDED 2/18/10: I was hoping to amp the dark cherry when I got the bottle of this, but like everything else that involves cassis and cardamon, they team up and overpower the scent until I smell like a spicy headcase. poo

    Et Lux Fuit

All I'm really getting from sniffing this, to applying it, to trying it upon my skin is vanilla lolipops. Seriously, there is a hint of citrus but somehow my skin likes to amp the golden amber I think. I would of liked a bit more bite with the blend but it definately feels like summer. Perhaps would be using it as a room scent.

    Kindly Moon

Can I finish huffing my wrists now? Wow. Let me repeat this again W.ow! This ranks up there was one of my favorite florals with Peony Moon, and Queen of Hearts. Let me just say that Gardina is one of my worry notes, in the Lady of Shallot it made me want to fall down. it was soooo powerful. For those of you that are 'afraid' of florals, don't despair. It has such a wonderful etheral and lilting mix of elements that is so fitting of the theme. In the Bottle: Fruit? What is there fruit? No wait, it's the peach blossom with the vanilla warming it up. There is a slightly waxy sense to it, and it's just...wonderful. Upon the wrist: Everything is soooo well balanced. But in the beginning there is simply peach blossom to me, tempered with gardina and a warm trickle of vanilla. 5 and 20 minutes later: About the same! And my skin doesn't eat it up within 20 minutes like other white florals! yay! This reminds me of a more starry version of Suspiro, where Suspiro is heavy upon the Lilies and Jasmine this one seems to mimic it in blossoms and gardnia! While I was iffy about this moon, this one has completely blown all expectations out of the way.

    Miskatonic University

This is for the re-introduced scent within the Picnic in Arkham selection, I haven't tried the original blend yet. In the Bottle: Sweet butterscotch with a faint coffee overtone. Wet upon the Skin: Almost all sweet butterscotch, almost a bit too sweet. I was a bit worried that it would almost be all toffee and butterscotch as was Drink me. We'll see in the moments to come. 5 Minutes later: The mustiness that must be the bookish tone has come and siginifigantly tempered this blend. There isn't as much throw as there was before but I can definately feel a nice smooth creamy Irish coffee smell about me. This is the smell that allowed my brief time working as a local barista so worth it. The smell of the first pour of coffee just accented by a hint of creme and sugar. 20 minuters later: About the same with a bit less throw. Wow. This is such a keeper and has probably cemented itself in the 10 ten for me. As the weather is growing a bit colder, coffee is definately one of the things I turn to. It is a definately smell of comfort. Two Thumbs up.

    Lucretia

I read the glowing reviews and decided to plunge and buy a bottle unsniffed to see what it was like. From the Bottle, Lucretia is dark and foreboding. There is definately the wood in there as well as the citrus. Neither really try to out do each other as all the rest of the notes are hiding. As soon as the blend hits is applied to my skin, it morphs like most of the bpal perfumes do. It's wood, amber and the lovely citrus that I smelt in the bottle disappears. The next 5 minutes as it dries is not really very pleasing to my nose. It's quite harsh, and old lady smelling. The wood and amber are trying to outdo each other in the battle notes to the death, there is a faint sweetness which I think may be the vanilla musk. 20 minutes later, the wood and the amber are starting to die down allowing the violet and musk to warm up the blend. Drydown, it's the most wonderous sopfisticated Wanda that I think I've smelled. Its tempered sweetened woody violets. It kind of reminds me of an older sister of Wanda as like it's sister it stays close to the skin. It's perfect for studying, or when you just wish to treat yourself while you are alone. I'm glad I have a bottle but at times the beginning stages are a bit much for me to handle.

    Absinthe

In the imp: A slightly boozy mint and licorice concoction. Upon the skin: Licorice amped a bit upon the skin while the citrus and the mints played nice with each other. There was a electric boozy undertone within the blend that mingled the strengths of each individual note together. It reminds me of a distant kin to Shattered where Shattered is more crystalline and this is just a bit more shockingly freshing. 5 minutes later: The licorice is dying down somewhat as well as the citrus. They are still there but have allowed the other essences to come upwards. 20 minutes later: More about the same, a tad more coying. I will echo that the throw is quite good. A little does go a long way and in my attempt to reaquint myself with a new love I slathered the sucker. I ended up coughing for a bit due to the strength. whoops. This blend seems absolutely perfect to make a first impression during a dance, or raudy get together. It's nothing that I've ever smelled before and I'm glad that it's available all year round. Definately a bottle purchase.

    Sudha Segara

In the Imp: Smells clean and a very hazy ginger. I know it's hard to say something smelling hazy but here it is. First Contact: A simple clean blast of milk and ginger. The honey and ambrosia never really come out, it seems as though both the ginger and the milk are taking over everything. 5 minutes later: I can see why people describe this as the perfect summer scent. It's so light and pretty. The other scents are coming out now but none of them seem to dominate the milk and the ginger. It reminds me of Kumiho but without the zip that the tea and hint of lemon provides. 20 minutes later: About the same but very much subdued. I think I'll stick with Kumiho as my fresh ginger scent. For a creamier alternative however, try Suda Segara.

    F5

F5 Out of the Bottle: A citrusy but clean smell that has a faint background of tea. It reminds me of Kumiho and Enbalming fluid. Upon the arm: Yep, definately reminds me of Kumiho and less of Embalming fluid. There is the trace of ozone and sea spray that I LOVED about Tempest. The aloe smooths it out though and the lime is a bit strong too. 5 minutes later: Still about the same except less strong. The ozone smell is starting to fade sadly. 20 minutes later: All the notes after awhile merge together into this second skin scent. It sticks very close and it would definately be good for those hots days that you want a little treat to cool yourself off. I can definately see how people would find it to be masucline because both the sea spray, aloe and green tea but while Kumiho's and Embalming Fluid's tea note seems to fade this one lasts a bit longer. A great job all and in, and definately refreshing. :giggle:

    Midnight on the Midway (2006)

In the Bottle: Hmm, It smells like a watered down Midway Upon the Arm, wet: *sniffsniff* This smells a lot like Gypsy Queen except with a bit more floral tinge. 5 minutes later: I feel a bit dizzy. I hope this isn't Midnight upon Midway. It must mean there is a bit of Opium or Poppy in there because that's the only thing that makes me dizzy. The jasmine is overtaking some things and it's a whole jumble of notes. 20 minutes later: Much better. So much better. This has the same creminess that Gyspy Queen has except more with the cotton candy goodness of Midway and less of the plum that the Queen had. The sweetness is taking the incense and flowers and all of them are settling into something etheral and fleeting. Definately very evoctive of the carnival at night.

    White Rabbit

Oh white Rabbit, why did you do this to me? First imp I chose, First imp out of my first imp pack so many bpal packages ago. It smelled so good in the imp. Fresh linen, TEA and vanilla. When I eagerly brushed it up against my skin? Plastic. Pure and Simple. Bleh... Over the many blends I've tried it's slowly coming down to perhaps that Linen note. On a side note, the blend is very good as a room scent. Quite clean and fresh with a bit of spice.

    Seraphim

Bottle: Rose with strong incense wafting about it. The lilly tends to support it making it have a kind of a clear note. Upon skin: Usually Calla lily tends to dominate a few moments making the blend seem old ladyish upon me. But not in this blend, it tempers the Lily and the Rose. The resins are soft and almost reminds me of my beloved Parlement of Foules but less smokey then it. Drydown: Roses, Incense and a tiny wafting of smoke. I know a lot of people make remark that it's unremarkable but my fiancee remarks that it smells book shop-ish. I like it because the throw isn't very large but it's enough. Perfect for studying, book reading or those cool autumn days. I'm glad I have a 5ml bottle.

    The Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts: Lily of the Valley, Calla Lily, stephanotis and a drop of cherry. From the imp the cherry seems to smack the hardest. But it isn't a lazy cherry, it's rich and kind of reminds me of rich cherries that have been soaking in syrup. I wanted to drink the imp. I postively love cherries. On the skin: The cherry smell quickly vanishes to the lillies of doom! Just kidding all but they do tend to overtake it. I notice that Calla Lilly tends to smell old ladyish upon me. How strange. Drydown: Okay, that's much better. The cherry, and the other florals all mixed together into a soft, womanly floral. Like with all blends that contain Calla Lilly or something of that kind it disappears within a few hours. Poo

    Phantom Queen

Phantom Queen started a lovely floral fruitish smell (perhaps the Apple Blossom, not sure) with a hint of an herbal background. I slathered some on before heading out to the movie theatres with my fiancee. Afterwards though (a good two hours) it turned into baby powder on my skin. Oh well, thankful to try them but can't win them all. I passed it to my Grand Mother whom it reminded me of.

    Peony Moon

This oil brings back really really fond memories of this old Chinese Giftshop that used to be around the local mall when I was a kid. The soft woods with the flowers is something that I could just inhale for hours. Simply beautiful. Nose meet wrist, ex nauseum. Anyways, In the Bottle: Hardly smell anything except a faint smell of woods and some kind of watery smell. Wrist: Helllooo Peony. How are you doing? Peony: omghihowareyou?whereamI?what'sthatdoingovertherecanIseeepleasepleaseplease Me: ....... So that's what it's about for the first few seconds of my skin. The plum tempers it a bit adding some sweetness while the woods ground it. Later: About the same feeling except fainter. A very definative floral fragrence, very spring time. I'd also be willing to pull it out whenever I need to think Asian (Japanese majors are fun >.>))

    Wanda

I definately love this blend. I love it so hard...*cough* anyways In the imp: Basically Merlot with a hint of leather. You'll recognize the Merlot from Lady Macbeth, the beginning Stages of the Black Tower and LE Montressor. It has a slightly musky note from the imp as well. On skin: Red wine loves my skin. Absolutely loves it. So as soon as it hits it's all. HELLLLOOO Deiicide. My name is Red wine. Tonight...I'm going to make you dance. *winkwink* Of course just as soon as the Red wine note starts to dominate, leather comes in and whips it back into shape. Poor Merlot, you'll get your chance another day. Maybe. Drydown: Both the Merlot and the Leather take a back seat as soon the flowers start to warm upon my skin. The violets dominate a bit, but I don't mind. The other florals temper the violets, and the leather and the merlot It's almost a spicy floral. The throw is light, but the wear after the intial stages does stick close to my skin which I don't mind as the oil lasts hours on my skin. This is a definate bottle purchase in the future and something I see wearing during romantic evenings with the fiancee.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

Bottle: XXXV- 35 or around there. Sniffed: Nothing else is really coming through, just opium (which I recognized by the faint dizzyiness it caused me) Smells a bit strong. Applied: Wow this is a morpher. First it's all opium mixed with some kind of incense and some smokiness with a whiff of opium. Whew, thankfully it's like the opium in Lotus Moon so it doesn't bother me as much. Then a soft wood sneaks in. Hey, I think I kind of like this. There is a definate pine resin that I also recognize. A soft nutiness comes in later and a warmth of I think tonka? It's not like vanilla, kind of deeper with a carmely smell mixed in. Whatever it is, I can't stop sniffing my wrists. I think I love it and to think this is the only bottle of this there. Well, I sure know that I'm keeping it for fall. Dry down: MMMM just the faintest smell of wood with the tonka and now more clearly smelt of the nut. The smokiness is still there but in the way way backside. Utterly beautiful. Thanks Beth!

    Drink Me

Now let's just say that I happen to like foody blends, but this one is so obsurdly rich with the toffee, custard and butter notes that all the fruits one are hiding from my skin. They come up in wafts but are completely hidden by the others mentioned above. I wanted to love this one and may snuffle it upon occasion.

    Coyote

Out of the four scents that I tried today, I'm really digging Coyote. It has a very barely there duskiness with the grasses that wraps around the amber which seems to shine upon my skin. Personally when I smelled it, it was like Lotus Moons gentlier sister to my nose in the same meditative sense. And as it dries down it gets sweeter. Mmm. ADDED 2/22/10: Soft and Earthy warm. Very musky that reminds me of wolf moon 06, the way with the feral musk. A lot of the doe sweetness if out almost with the airy freshness. Almost makes me want to sleep (which I have been using it a bit for *cough*). Bottle on its way and I know it will age beautifully. (imp is 3 years old)

    Follow Me Boy

Follow me boy upon my skin smells almost akin to the Lady of Shallot, almost word for word except that it's less sharp so it doesn't give me a headache. Abit it's still kind of eh for me, so I don't think I'll be keeping it around that long. There smells to be lily and lemon in there but that's as much as my nose can pick out.
