I am not sure I got the right scent. I expected something dark and sacred. Instead I got...very light, clear, almost floral. A dash of citrus, yes. But I am quite confused by this Incantation.
-
This is very well blended, although I did get the spicy smoke people spoke of, in some stages. It is a very complex scent. I will give it a chance. But the Black Tower is different from anything I have ever tried before.
-
I think this is patchouli and tonka. But no dried rose. Nemesis is very weird. I will give her a chance, but she is quite weird. Eerie.
-
White musk. Plenty of white musk. I will give Urania a chance to grow, but she is very very much white musk. She is a little too...settled to be a refreshing scent. Beth knew what she was doing when she made the muses. I kinda wanna go stargaze... even though it is a quiet midafternoon.
-
I had very high hopes for Clio. Of all the muses, she was the one that haunted me the most. Did my fabled intuition fail me? All I am getting is musty parchment at first. Beth has captured perfectly the scent of musty parchment... No wait, there's some orange. Clio may actually be nice. I'll let her grow on me. But it is not an instant love.

Calliope, muse of epics, I have such a tendency to write epics that if you did not suit me, I would have thrown something. However, you DO suit me! This is such a clear scent, but with that hint of almond keeping it from being totally clear. I cannot get any more precise than that, but I can feel the creative juices bubbling. I think Calliope is going to be a keeper.

Ole! El olio de Madrid es vino, mucho mucho vino, y mas vino. Wine, lotsa booze! Oh, here's the clove coming out. Now that it's dry, I am getting what I think is mimosa. Madrid is...ok. But not something i will want to wear every day. However, I will hold on; I have a sneaky feeling I will need it for something.

Also called Gallows Literature. A dime novel rife with melodrama, horror, madness and cruelty; a ten cent analogy of vice and virtue in conflict. Soft perfume evocative of noir heroines over rich red grave loam. Note to self: no grave loam. Ever. Smelling like I just rose from an ill-maintained coffin is not my style. I did smell the perfume once.

I am not getting the lilac. I am getting rose. Dry rose. And dry rose. Not good enough for me, but some may like it.
-
I never got the cinnamon - and usually my skin amps it. Harlot has dried to smell like rose. A dry rose. It does not make me smell very sexy or wanton. I think Harlot is for the swap pile.

I found this VERY gentlemanly - the very picture of a gentleman (I have not yet tried any of the famed Dorian, Severin, Saint-Germain etc which are reputed as very gentlemanly scents.) But on me after a while it goes rose, rose, rose with just a touch of spice. Othello is very nice. But I doubt he will get much wear with me.

I think the Queen was a floral. I think so. She vanished on my skin within ten minutes. Darn. But I do not think she is my type.
-
Can I really not tell the difference between cherries and almond? I thought that it was almond at first, but I guess it is cherry, very strongly. The Red Queen dries down to mahogany; I have now figured out what she reminds me of: Ouija! She is okay; not fantastic, but I will find a use for my imp once I mend the broken cap.

A delicate floral perfume. I cannot pick notes out, but it is a definite floral. Dry, it has gone quite pretty. Pretty but not me. I do not think Prague will be staying around long.

I quite liked the dark damp blossoms and the gloom. But now the murk is coming out as incense and/or labdanum, both of which are evil death. I cannot trust myself wearing this scent (not that it drives me wild; I do not think Nilfheim had that reputation. It drives me smelly. I can't help it that incense reminds me of solder.)
-
Very civet-y, but more medicinal-smelling. I am really not certain. This may smell very sexy on a guy. On me it is just "ugh" and I think it is playing around with the smell of body without quite getting there. I am NOT a Satyr. In case anyone was wondering.

Cocoa, vanilla, myrrh, sandalwood - what's not to like? Plenty, it seems. I guess I am just not a foody person. The cocoa echoes the Centzon Totochtin (which is on my other wrist) and it smells like drak, spicy chocolate indeed. But I am not dark spicy chocolate, no matter how much I loved myrrh in Masabakes and Lust. I think there are plenty of women who would love Velvet. But I am not one of them.

Kabuki Review In Senryu Kabuki Theatre Is this much like Kyoto? Why Jap-anise, why? At first quite different Lovely, sexy, fruity musk Perhaps a fav'rite? But no, not for long! Before I log in to here Anise has come out. Anise, star anise! You are no demon, I know; I just don't like you. Fairest Kabuki Joins compatriot Kyoto Into the swap box.

Sweet holy Excolo, those bunnies are powerfully smelling of cocoa and booze! They do have a "take over everything" quality, the Centzon Totochtin. But I do not think I like them. If they were edible, I'll eat them in small qualities, but those bunnies are so strong they are getting a little nauseating. Swap box for the bunnies, sorry.

At first I really could not place what the note was - it was something I could not place in any other blend. Now that it has dried, it does smell like something dark, in the same quality as the myrrh in Masabakes or Lust, but different. I am not sure what it is. The smell is not unpleasant, and I would definitely tolerate it when I use it. It is just not a smell I would expect of a perfume.

I was wary of the honey, but I ordered a bottle. This is very nice. After drydown, the neroli dominates on me. Neroli was always a pale green scent to me, but the other aspects of the scent do indeed make it golden. Quite a happy scent.

Bon Vivant is Grand Guignol's strawberry cousin. It is also very bubbly. I had kept Grand Guignol for pick-me-up occasions, and I do not use it much. I fear Bon Vivant, although very nice indeed, will not get much exercise either. However, Abberlaine Arrol suggested it would make a nice room scent, so I may use it for that. It is a very fun, merry scent. I recommend it.

I was afraid of the poppy but so far the dragon's blood, amber and ylang ylang have allied to hold the poppy down. Yay yay. This is actually a very interesting party scent. It is too - nighttime - to be a daytime scent, but it will work very nicely for an evening out. The poppy is still being held down. I may have found ONE poppy/opium scent that does not drive me mad. Long live dragons.
-
Aye, and 'tis dark fruit indeed, tempered with amber. I am not certain I like it. It is very nice, but it does not blow my mind as a couple of scents have in the same package. But it may grow on me.
-
I quite like it. All of the ingredients appeal to me. However, I already have many perfumes that share the same notes, so I am not sure Phantom will get the exercise it deserves. But I will keep the imp close for now.
