suggestions for a girl's writing class

good point, I'll double check with my mentor teacher.
  2. I'm student teaching a girl's writing class for 12 weeks and I want to give them something when I go. They are all really wonderful 8th graders and I was thinking of giving them each an imp (and bringing ice cream the last day I teach for all 6 of my classes, but t I want to do something a little different/extra for these girls. So what are suggestions anyone has--light, girlish, non threatening? I live in the bible belt (still adjusting after many years in SF!) and I don't want to freak out any parents. I'm just running ideas around.

    BPAL and pregnancy

My nose has the ability to smell things a mile away now that's for sure. Do you think if the scents are diluted in lotion that will remove the possible danger? I haven't used any scents yet and will check the descriptions for the ones that are bad for pregnancy, but what I worry about is that not all of the notes are listed. I've previously diluted in fractionated coconut oil and prefumer's alcohol, perhaps those will work too? Thanks for the suggestions~!

    BPAL and pregnancy

I'm wondering if anyone has a list of the ones that they used to no ill effect. I'm also wondering if the lab lists everything that goes into each blend (I'm guessing not, some things don't have *any* notes listed) so I could judge which ones might be safe. Oh can I use Antique lace or Bagdad? Or how about the foodie scents that I love like Eat Me and Cockaigne? I really miss those. I'm only 8 weeks and I've had miscarriages so I'm staying away from it all right now, though I miss it a lot. So many things around me don't smell good, I'd like to use some of my nice smells to combat that, but the lab said a huge NO to everything. The scent locket is a possibility I've used before, but then the scents don't change on the skin and stay very strong. One of the things I appreciate about BPAL is how the scents change on you and as the day goes on. I'm checking with my OB who seems to think that you'd have to go to extremes to make many of the oils dangerous (ingest them in quantity or use a considerable amount of the very bad ones like pennyroyal) but of course since I'm high risk I'm researching everything and being extra careful. Any thoughts anyone has would be much appreciated.

    BPAL and pregnancy

Thank you for the kind words. We've had a bit of a shock, in that while the doctor was sure we were losing the pregnancy, well it's still holding on and progressing. So now out of no hope we have some at least.

    BPAL and pregnancy

Thanks for all the information. Sadly it seems this one was not to be. We'll try again in a few months and once I feel better I'll do some more reading from the links and books given in this thread.

    BPAL and pregnancy

Thank you for the links and advice. I wrote the lab and they said to use nothing at all, which is very sad for me, since I've only recently gotten in to Bpal and already have a number of bottles I love. Of course, the lab needs to say to stay away from the oils since very few scientific studies have been presented about the impact of Eo on pregnancy--it would be legally prudent to do so. That didn't stop me from bursting into tears though. Of course immediate logical responses are not my strong suit currently. This will be the second pregnancy for me, so I know some things that I loved recently might set off the nausea, but I'm hoping that won't be too extensive. I already know Loviatar is not a good idea, even though just couple of months ago (when enabled/introduced to Bpal by a friend) I loved it. Heh, perhaps steamy leather doesn't quite work for a nascent 2nd time madonna. :-) I do have a scent locket on order and plan to do a lot of reading --after all this is at least new territory--one can only read "What to Expect" and the rest of those books so many times. I also spent many years as an actor at Ren Faire and knew many women who scented themselves with Essential Oils all through pregnancy so there is some hope. Oh the irony of this--I haven't even gotten my very first order from the lab yet. I've been reading their website for about 2 years and only recently got the courage to order. As soon as I did, some friends enabled me and pointed me at the Live Journal communities where I was able to stock up quickly. I've even got some LE's! already. Oh heavy sigh. Thank you all again.

    BPAL and pregnancy

Thank you. I tried searching for that, but I was doing that just as the form was going down this last time, so I didn't find it.

    BPAL and pregnancy

Sorry if I missed where this was located, but could someone direct me to the thread on bpal and pregnancy? I hope I don't have to stop wearing the lovely scents . And are there some oils to stay away from? I appreciate your guidance.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Thank you SO MUCH for that beautiful work. I've recently gotten into BPAL and already have several swaps and purchases going --this will be a big help. I'd started my own spreadsheet and then figured if I'd thought of it, someone else must have. Wonderful! ~pywacket
