I tested this after letting it settle for two days. It starts off as cinnamon apples and baked bread, but the green herbs quickly rush forth and become the dominant note. The herbs sadly veer into soap territory on me, backed by what's left of the cinnamon apples -- with no more bread to be found. I tested this on my upper forearm and did not have any issues with the cinnamon burning or leaving any welts. I'm not sure if this needs more time to settle due to having been in triple digit heat, so I'll probably give it another try in a few weeks. But at the moment, the fleeting bread and the prominent herbs make this one not a win for me. I'm hoping that with some more time to settle, I'll get less herbs and more bread.

BAD DRAGON! BAD! Cherry blossom, bourbon vanilla, rice milk, and white sandalwood. Random note: This scent shares artwork with a past BPAL event exclusive: BPTP's Housebreaking Your Dragon atmosphere spray. In the bottle: Lots of cherry blossom, white sandalwood, and rice milk. I am not detecting the bourbon vanilla note in the bottle, but I hope it makes an appearance on my skin! Wet: Cherry blossom takes the center stage. Then, it calms down a bit, and the rice milk ends up sidling up next to it, and threatens to overtake it, but doesn't quite succeed. They both end up being main players, until the white sandalwood begins to emerge after a few minutes and decides to sidle up to them. It's increasing in strength over time, but not the most prominent note. Dry: This ends up being a soft, somewhat clean scent. The rice milk and white sandalwood are the dominant notes during this phase of the scent on me, and although white sandalwood can sometimes be really dry on me, this one hasn't been problematic. The cherry blossom is still present, but it's been confined to a background role. I'm not getting any of the bourbon vanilla from this, but perhaps it will come out with age? Verdict: I thought this would be like a Shunga in Dragon form, and it is! It's not the cherry blossom + vanilla that I was hoping for, but it's still a nice scent. I'm going to hold onto my bottle and hope the vanilla comes out after some aging!

I enjoy the banana in this one, but I wouldn't say it is a main player. At least, not on me. I get a ton of walnut at first, which is warm and toasty, with a bit of banana. Then it turns a little medicinal on me, and I think it's cinnamon from the pancake note combining with something else. The whipped cream veers into plastic-y territory on me, but at least it manages to take this out of that odd medicinal phase as it gains prominence and eventually becomes the dominant note. Oddly enough, I don't get maple syrup from this? (That's the reason I hadn't ordered a decant when that update dropped.) This did not end up being a win for me due to the medicinal and plastic phases of this scent, but I enjoyed the banana and how realistic the walnut note is in this one.

2021 version. I figured that this would have a high chance of being a fail on me, with the dead leaves and sweater notes, but since I hadn't tried it and had a chance to swap for it, I decided to give it a whirl. Well, it's not for me. There's some neroli in the dead leaves (same ones from Haunt 2021), and the sweater note is the laundry variety as opposed to a warm, cozy one. There's some black tea that joins these notes later on, but it just ends up being one very high-pitched, perfume-y melange on me, without any of the coziness of fall. On a positive note, I didn't get any super buttery cream from this?

This starts off with a pop of bubblegum accompanied by a rusty metal note that makes me think of Dwarf (plus bubblegum). Then it gives way to a more traditional metallic note backed by a faint leather, and it stays that way for the rest of the day. I wish the bubblegum had stuck around longer to sweeten the other notes.

This is a weird one. It started out as a smoky, resinous scent on me and became more plant-like over time, eventually settling into a celery scent on me. I do not wish to smell like celery.
-
The strongest note I get from this isn't actually any of the listed ones: it's vetiver. A super bold, blackened, yet still grassy, vetiver. I wonder if that's supposed to be a component of this particular black musk, or if it is just stealth vetiver? Anyway, that's the dominant note on me throughout wear. Musky vetiver with some of the floral astringency of the geranium. I wanted to try this because of the tonka and the porcelain, but the vetiver in this is too much for me.
-
This is like Lightning with a lot of moss. I get lots of moss and ozone throughout most of wear, with the rain gaining some strength after the scent has been on the skin for a while. Surprisingly, the vetiver in this is really subdued, and I don't really get the granite, which was what I was really hoping for (a stone-y rain scent). I'm glad I finally got to try The Stormhold, but I know I wouldn't reach for this over something like Waiting 2016 or Lightning Strikes Literature.

I sniffed this one year at a con... probably Denver Comic Con, maaaybe Drag Con? And I thought it smelled licorice-y and didn't waste any arm space on it. But when Ajevie decanted the Neverwhere series, I had to finally try it! In the decant, it does smell like stone. But as soon as it hits my skin, it takes on that licorice-y vibe that I got from the bottle at one of those cons. But it is not as intensely anise as a lot of other licorice-y scents. The darkness element of this scent is a musk, but it is not the typical black musk -- it's fuzzier and cozier than that, but also not a brown musk. It ends up overtaking the licorice note and ends up being the dominant aspect of the scent by the end of the day. This is not something I could see myself reaching for, but I'm glad I got to properly test it after all of these years. If you're down for an anise-tinged musk, give this a try.

Sheβs that Instagram queen who only performs once in a full moon. Cardamom-infused whiskey and fig cream. I tested this one at Drag Con, and the cardamom was the dominant note on me and the boy (who was reminded of cake -- I did not think of cake, but it did remind me of the cardamom on cardamom buns in Sweden). I thought this would be really boozy due to the whiskey. It was more foodie on both of us, although the whiskey did end up being the main player after a while. I was not able to pick out the fig cream, but maybe that's because my nose was too overwhelmed by that point. Fans of cardamom will be happy to have this one. The only thing that stopped me from buying a bottle was me trying to tell myself that I already have a cardamom-forward foodie scent (Cardamom Cream Pumpkin Cake) in my collection.

Sheβs the reason the club now has rules like βNo liquids onstage unless you bring your own tarp.β Blobs of guava pulp with pink orchid, a splatter of liquid sugar, white rum, and a squeeze of pink lime. This was the Drag Con exclusive perfume oil that I was looking forward to most, and it did not disappoint! In the bottle, I get lots of guava pulp and lime, sweetened by the liquid sugar, with the white rum and pink orchid lingering in the background. On my skin, there's a blast of guava pulp at first, and then the lime emerges. These notes end up being the stars of the show. I get the sweetness of the liquid sugar, and the pink orchid is there, keeping this from being a strictly fruity scent. I love this and am so glad that I bought two bottles. It's a wonderful scent to wear during the summer months.

This was the worst of the 4/20 scents that I tried, and that's for one reason and one reason only. I ONLY GET THE GRAPE SKITTLES OF DOOM. I smell no other Skittle, because the artificial grape candy smell is so strong on me. Even my partner could only smell the fake grape on me. I'm having flashbacks to childhood and taking Dimetapp. If you like artificial grape, you should love this. If you hate it like me, avoid this at all costs. And I didn't even get any weed, either, because the grape was such a force to be reckoned with. I applied this to my skin only because I thought it would morph and more fruity candy notes would pop up. NOPE.
-
This smells like gummy bears. Not only the fruity candy smell, but the texture is on point! I wasn't able to get the weed from this one... maybe it is well-hidden within those gummies. π I'm not a big fan of gummy candy in general, but decided to try this one just because. If you like the idea of smelling like gummies, you would probably enjoy this -- and I'd recommend this to someone looking for a gummy candy scent over a weed one. If you're looking for a weed-heavy scent, you might be disappointed.

This smells delicious. It is very much a cinnamon-covered pastry, somewhat like a churro at first, but becoming more doughnut-like over time (although it eventually settles into an oatmeal scent on me for some reason -- not sure how that happened, but it still smells delicious). The weed note is strongest in the wet phase and compliments the sweet cinnamon pastry very well, and it isn't skunky at all. The weed doesn't stick around throughout wear, though. I applied this to the back of my hand because I have sensitive skin and wanted to be able to wash it off if it burned. It did not leave any welts, buuut it was somewhat itchy where I applied it, so I know it's not something I would be able to slather. And that's why this will stay decant only even though it's probably the most delicious smelling of this year's 4/20 scents.

This starts off with the most glorious sweet black patchouli, backed by some mugwort and other herbs. But then the green herbs rush to the forefront, and the patchouli gets buried behind them. π This ends up settling into a mineralic, herbal scent swirled with soot on me by the end of the day, and while it's not bad, it's nothing compared to the glory that it was during the initial application. I let this settle for a few days before testing it, but I'm going to put my bottle in timeout and hope that the patchouli and mugwort stick around once it has had more time to settle. Because that's what I'm here for.

The Robeky Venus is a cousin to Imose-Yama, to my nose. It's the same tea rose, and I even get a similar tang to this that I do from the fleur-de-lait in Imose-Yama, only it's more subdued here. It stays that way for a long time, a vanilla-ed rose with a tang to it, but then it becomes more resinous as time goes on as the amber-y labdanum takes the center stage. It is not a cola-y labdanum, though, and the ambergris makes this smooth around the edges. I didn't get any distinct currant to this, but maybe it was blending with the jammy sort of rose. I enjoy this, but I'm not sure I would wear it over Imose-Yama. Still, I'm really happy I got to try it, and I would recommend it to those who would like the rose from that scent, but more sophisticated, and less gourmand.

Hello! I love cherry, and here are some of my recommendations from what is currently available: From Yule 2022: Red Velvet Tuxedo - Some people get a ton of cologne from this, though, and you have to like cake, too... so it really depends if your skin chemistry brings out more cherry and cake or cologne. Spumoni - This has cherry, but it's not a super strong cherry because of the creamy ice cream. You also have to like chocolate and pistachio (I'm guessing chocolate is okay because of that coffee bean trio you mentioned liking). There's another cherry scent from the Yules, but it's not complete cherry as there's fig, too: Up the Stairs, We Dance the Tango. For me, the fig was too dark and strong, but it depends on how you feel about fig! I am not a fig lover. From Lupercalia 2023: There is a whole cherry category in this year's Lupercalia update. I tried them all except for the jasmine one. Of those, my favorites were: Black Cherry and Elderflower Seltzer - If you did not like the effervescence/fizz of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat (not sure why that one was a fail for you), you might not like this one, either. It's strong on the black cherry at first, but the elderflower soda vibe gets stronger over time and wins out, although the cherry doesn't completely disappear. Griotte, Lime, and White Musk - This is kind of like a cherry limeade slush, but not as sweet as a slush would be. It wasn't for me, but Dried Cherry Incense and Spun Sugar seems to be the most popular scent from this year's Lupercalia cherry offerings. Cherry Wine might be worth a try since Blood Kiss has both cherry and wine, and this one has no clove, but since it is boozed up cherry with nothing else, you might get a medicinal sort of cherry from it. If you don't dislike lemon, Doom Cake, from the Dr. Caligari collection, is sugary lemon cake and cherry-swirled deliciousness. One currently available cherry scent that I wouldn't recommend is Fairy Lobster Foam, because that is more about the milky foam than the cherry, which is very fleeting. Choke Me, another currently available scent, is too aquatic and not enough cherry for me, and I wouldn't recommend it based on the other scents you love. If you're not looking for any limited editions, the only general catalog scent with cherry in it that I think might be worth a try is The Red Queen, but it really depends on how much you enjoy woods, because the cherry quickly gives way to those deep wood notes. There was a new cherry offering in the latest Lunacy update, but it is too new for anyone to have tried it yet: Morello Cherry, Ginger Root, and Black Musk. All of my cherry favorites are sadly no longer available, and in many cases, rare. π So I don't want to recommend something that's hard to find. But if you look through these search results, it will pull up every single scent with a description or review mentioning cherry. So you can sift through old reviews and find something that catches your eye, and you can add them to your wishlist and hope to come across them in the future.

This was such a nice orange scent at first, but it didn't take long for my skin chemistry to turn this into soap. I weep tears of orange juice and drink them as they fall.
-
This one is mostly about the floral notes. I get the white rose strongest during the wet phase, but the scent becomes more about the tulips and the peonies once dry (I'm not sure about the hyacinth -- to be honest, I'm not that familiar with it outside of Egle and don't know what the actual flower smells like), with the tulips being the strongest of the floral notes in the end. The floral notes are swirled with white musk, but sadly, I'm not getting much vanilla. If you're looking for a nice spring floral scent, this should be up your alley, but if you're looking for a flormand with lots of vanilla to sweeten up these florals, you might be disappointed, unless you have better skin chemistry that will amp up that vanilla. π

This one did not work on me, sadly. Not all tea rose scents do nowadays, and this one is somewhat high-pitched on me with the musky silk note. The bold black tea, which is strongest during the wet phase, hangs around in the background throughout the rest of the wear. At one point, I got a bit of funk from this, which I'm chalking up to a skin chemistry fail, likely due to my skin disagreeing with the rose. I don't get a ton of honey from this one and wish there were more sweetness to accompany the rose and the silk.

This starts off with a blast of the almond blossom, which is the same one found in last year's Almond Blossoms. I get some birdseed and a bit of wood with it, but nothing can overtake the almond blossom note during the wet stage. Once the scent is dry, the russet amber emerges, and it ends up becoming the dominant note once the almond calms down. I believe it's the same amber note from Adventuresome Encounters. I love this sweet amber, and it pairs so nicely with the creamy almond blossom note (which only has a hint of its former almond glory by the end of the day. I can smell the balsam, wood, and what remains of the birdseed if I go looking for them, but this settles into being mostly about the amber and the almond blossom on me. I think this is really nice, but I'm like, hmmm, do I really need more of this when I have Almond Blossoms? I'll be hanging onto my decant and retesting before it goes away to know for sure. But I'm sure my almond and amber-loving partner will be telling me to grab a bottle once she gets to try it.

I get the lemony white tea in the vial, tinged with some greenery and honey. Once applied, I get lots of green hinoki (which isn't frost-tinged at first but develops a slight frosty quality once dry), backed by some balsam and wood, and then the honey emerges and becomes a main player. I think it might be the same honey in the honey musk from Capax Infiniti and Lady Una, but I didn't deathmatch to be sure. Then the frangipani pops up, as well as the white tea, but the white tea isn't nearly as strong as it was in the vial. This goes powdery for a really long time, and I believe that's the fault of this particular honey note, or the honey paired with the floral frangipani. Yukikeisetsu settles into a honey-dominant scent backed by soft woods on me. Despite the powdery phase, I found this scent to be really comforting and drifted off to sleep wearing it. I am planning to keep the decant, and I'll retest before it goes away to see whether or not I need more.

Goblin of Yuletide Present Atmosphere Spray
doomsday_disco replied to VioletChaos's topic in Atmosphere
This appears to be the original version judging by the style of the label (old school). I really enjoy pomander scents and was super excited to try this one. Sadly, it just didn't agree with my nose. I sprayed it on a paper towel to test it, and it was mostly medicinal orange and ginger mixed with Red Hots. Then I get an overwhelming baby powder scent mixed with the medicinal orange and spices.... which was completely unexpected. It stays that way forevermore, although I did get some nice clove with it the next day. I wonder if it is secretly some super powdery amber in here, or something else causing the powder? But even without the powder, this particular orange, ginger, and cinnamon aren't vibing with me, so this one is going off to swaps. -
This was a blind bottle for me. I love cherry. I love lemon. I love cake. So it was a no-brainer. This starts off with some black cherry (that smells like if someone had made a black cherry compote) over some lemon cake, but the cherry quickly gives way to the lemon and it becomes more of a sugary, creamy lemon scent that's less cake-like, swirled with some cherry. I really wish the cherry had stayed as strong as it was initially, as I'm a cherry ho, but since I'm also a lemon lover, the scent is still a keeper. Now I want to make a cake like this.

I really thought this one would be a slam dunk from the description. Alas, there's unexpected dairy in this (which has a bit of funk to it -- not as intense as goat's milk, but it's there). The maraschino cherry is pretty light on me, as the dairy takes the center stage for the first few hours, until the marshmallow pops up and mingles with the dairy to create a creamy marshmallow scent haunted by the ghost of cherry. I'm going to let this settle for a few more weeks to see if it changes, but I think this will ultimately be a destash as I was really hoping for more cherry (and no stealth dairy) from this.
