I mostly get the dry, desert-y qualities of Ozymandias. There's some (golden, perhaps?) musk that is the most prominent note on me, backed by whatever comprises the sands and incense (perhaps a sandalwood mingling with something else?). It's in the same family as Morocco, I'd say, but this is more powdery, features a different musk, and it doesn't have Morocco's spices. I didn't get the stone note from this, sadly, which I was really looking forward to, but this is an aged imp, so maybe it has aged out of the scent. I'm glad I got a chance to try this, and I do think it is pleasant, but I can't see myself reaching for it over other desert scents in my collection.

Gingerbread Jolly Roger
doomsday_disco replied to ClockworkMoM's topic in Gifts with Donation or Purchase
This is the ginger from Shub paired with the leather and woods from Jolly Roger, but very little of the aquatic aspect of it (at least on me). In other words, it's one sexy gingerbread scent. And if you own Gingerbread and Leather, I think this is different enough from that because if I remember correctly, that one features a different gingerbread note and has a stronger leather that's accompanied by tobacco. I like this, but I don't know how much I'd reach for it compared to other gingerbread scents. But I'll hang on to the bottle for this upcoming yuletide to find out! ETA: I retested this one and get more of the aquatic aspect of Jolly Roger now with its leather and woods. It's more gingerbread-heavy in the beginning but becomes mostly Jolly Roger with some ginger by the end of the day. I didn't reach for this at all during the winter, so I'm thinking it should probably go to another home where it will be reached for and loved instead of just sitting neglected on a shelf... but it is nice. -
Last Day of Summer Froyo starts off with a lovely blast of cake batter froyo (it even has that froyo tang to it!), but alas, the cake batter is short-lived. It quickly becomes a lime gummy bear party backed by the tang of the froyo, but without any of the cake batter. Cake batter, come baaaaack. I like the lime candy note enough to hang onto my decant, though. If you're afraid of this going the way of last year's The Joy of Fatherhood, don't be... there's no stealth banana candy here. The only sad thing is that the cake batter is so fleeting!

I get lots of pear blossom, amber, and lavender at first, backed by the chamomile and musk. The pear blossom remains a main player throughout wear on me, and the amber in this is somewhat high-pitched and perfume-y, like in scents like Alleviate the Frenzy and My Wise Beauty. The musk is a main player as well and may be amplifying that affect. The lavender is short-lived on me, and I didn't get any sweet cream until the end of the day, but it has gone buttery on me, alas. I was really hoping for more lavender and chamomile from this, but I think it is worth a try if pear blossom appeals and you enjoy this sort of amber.

This starts off as an aquatic lavender on me with the lavender and salty driftwood strongest right out of the gate. It stays that way for a while, with the amber and patchouli gaining strength with wear and hanging out with the salty driftwood. I was beginning to wonder if any of the sweet notes would appear, but the candlewax did show up by the end of the day, adding a light, creamy sweetness to the driftwood, amber, and patchouli. Curiously enough, even though honey dust is generally my nemesis and tends to declare dominion over all other notes, it's really tame here, and seems to just adding a touch of dark, toffee-like sweetness behind the candlewax. I also wanted to note that I, too, thought it smelled like Christmas for a bit, and I'm just like... where did that come from? But I'm not mad. The decant is a keeper, but I'm not sure that I need more of this one (maybe if the lavender had stuck around...)
-
This is strongest on the white chocolate and perfume-y pink sandalwood on me (with more white chocolate in the beginning and more of the sandalwood later in the day). The rose in this is very subdued, and there's a bit of floofiness to this by the end of the day that must be due to the mallow flower. I am not sure I need more than my decant, but I do think this does fit the Easter theme! (I'll retest before it goes away, but I was really wanting more rose with the white chocolate.)
-
This goes on as rose and sour vetiver and then morphs into slightly jammy rose swirled with juicy cactus flowers, with no vetiver to be found. At first, there's just a touch of chrysanthemum lingering in the background, but after several hours, it ends up becoming the dominant note so that it smells like dry chrysanthemums tinged with a bit of rose and cactus flowers. I think this one is nice after the harsh beginning, but I don't think it is something I would end up wearing.
-
Moonbathing starts off with a blast of honeydew melon that reigns for a few hours, backed by a little of the pina colada. Then, the pineapple and coconut of the pina colada gain strength and it ends up being the strongest note by the end of the day on me. It's backed by a much fainter honeydew and a touch of either ozone or white musk (but I'm thinking white musk). I think this one is pretty, but I prefer the phase when it's a honeydew party!

I leave for a ten-day trip to Paris and London in one week's time and I'd love to bring back a goody or two if my Naughty/Nice Puss has any requests! London: Jam from Tea and Tattle (tea room across from The British Museum), some sort of Mr. Kiplings slices (like angel slices or lemon slices or if there's some other flavor) Paris: Mariage Frères tea, maybe some pâte de fruits since they would keep well? Are you interested in an advent calendar? What kind? (Dog cookie, tea, chocolate, etc.) Tea, chocolate, or jam! (Although I just received several jars of jam in swaps, so maybe not the jam. ) Officially asking for your krampus preference, naughty children! Vintage Krampus or cat Krampus! Just not partially human-looking Krampus. Please nothing that just says "Vom Krampus" on it, though. If you take out the Gruß, it is no longer grammatically correct because the 'vom' is in the dative case and it needs the verb for that to happen. (I am only mentioning this because I did see things like that while looking for Krampus items last year, and I know German.) I hand-make light-weight hair falls, the kind that is NOT meant to look real, but more like doll (or Dolly) hair. I use stuff like recycled silk, ribbon yarn and the like to keep them extremely light-weight and pretty. Is this something you would like? If so, tell me your color preferences (the more options, the better!) plus any allergies I should know about (wool, alpaca, silk etc), and length. I would enjoy that! Since it's for Krampusnacht, maybe red, black, and grey? Or red, green, and black? Or variations of red with black? Normally, purple, black, and grey are my favorite colors. I currently have hair that's long enough to reach a few inches past my bra strap. I plan on letting it grow back to waist-length again, and I might dye it red sometime soon (but have been lazy). I don't think I have any allergies. Would you like a super ugly "Christmas" sweater with krampus all over it?? Maybe not a sweater, but something like a stocking would be nice! Is there anything you particularly have your fingers crossed for on your wishlist? and are you hoping for more perfumes or more non-smelly goodies? I am down for both smellies and non-smellies, BUT I do have tons of perfume, wax, and bath/body products. I'm not averse to having more, but there's only one perfume I'm actively looking for at the moment (Gothabilly lolololol -- and I'd swap handsomely for it). For non-smellies, I'd particularly appreciate something baking, cooking, or food-related for the December holidays. dear Victim, are you in need of a squishable krampus? No, thank you! I just have too many plushies. 😭 I need to do a spice order. Anything from Penzy's to show you praise or to punish your wicked tongue? Maybe the sweet or hot curry? On the pricier side, vanilla extract. Do you like homemade fudge if it is Krampus'ed up? I love homemade fudge! But I might be fudged out by the time I get through all of the fudge that twilighteyes sent me! Would you like a piece of Krampus themed art? Either watercolor, resin, polymer clay, or wire wrap? Krampus art would be neat! I have no preference on the medium. I'm probably going to place an order for October 33rd once I get paid next week. Are there any BPALs (recently released or otherwise) that you would love to get on St. Nicholas Day? I asked this question. October 33rd is the only one I'm currently lusting after and I'm going to buy it. Is there anything you'd be interested in from Loreworks? (Please note, the body wash is marketed as body wash/bubble bath, but it DOES contain SLS for those who avoid it.) I also asked this question and will be placing an order soon, so it's probably best to skip getting me anything from her, even though I love her stuff. dear victim, are you interested in a microwaveable bowl cozy? This sounds better than just picking up hot bowls with paper towels. 😅 Dearest Victim, might you bed a fan of the glorious old punk band, the Damned? I'm seeing them perform on Friday, so there might be things like tour t-shirts or stickers available- would any of this be of interest to you? (if not, no worries, I can worship them enough for the both of us! ) I like a few of their songs (I first heard them when watching The Young Ones), but I am not familiar enough with their work to consider myself a fan! 😅 Dear *ahem* Victim *snicker* ... Would you enjoy a 2023 wall calendar? Sure... I'd put it in my cube at work! (Please note that I do work for the government, so... nothing super vulgar or anything like that. ) Victim, is there anything you would like from the Zeep holiday collection releasing on November 1st? (see this post) I asked this question and will be ordering myself. Are you interested in boozy homemade fruitcake? I would be down to try homemade fruitcake. The storebought one my aunt got last year was awful, though, and it's the only one I've tried. How about booze itself, specifically, moonshine whiskey infused with spices and fruits? I'd be down to try a small bottle! I've never tried moonshine. Brown sugar shortbread? "Plain" buttery or flavored? Favorites include lavender and chocolate orange, but I could definitely do a holiday spice or peppermint batch or two. Yes! All sound great, but especially the lavender. I'm always down for lavender -- whether it's scent or food! That aside, dear victim… I want to make altered altoid tins for Christmas. Here are some examples of past Christmas ones. Would you like one? Yes, but I still want a Poe one. 😭 (You can put a Santa hat on him. ) Atomic Christmas with cat is super cute! But I love them all. Are you interested in having any freshly dried apple crips? (Golden Delicious and Fuji -- sliced, dried apples with nothing added.) Will shill out $$ or barter perfume for apple crisps! 👀 Would anyone like something nice from Upavim, a women’s craft collective in Guatemala? https://upavimcrafts.org/ A wooden spoon or laden would be appreciated! The mouse skillet holder is too cute. I'd also be down for a whimsical felt bird ornament or a pumpkin one for my Halloween tree next year! Is there anything you're eyeing from Paintbox Soapworks' winter update? Joulupukki wax melts, Orange and Yellow wax melts or mini sorbetto, and Schwarzwald sorbetto. Please no Sugar on Snow... I just can't handle maple-scented products right now. Haus of Gloi just dropped their Yule update- like what you see? https://www.hausofgloi.com/collections/yule?page=1 I'd be down for some Long Winter's Nap whipped soap or bubbling scrub! If I can find the recipe, I want to make my grandmas Orange Slice Cake. Its a super yummy cake but a bit difficult to make as far as cutting up all the oranges. If you would like a mini cake IF I make it, lemme know! Cake me up!!! I do molasses gingerbread cookies, as well as hot cocoa cookies, florentines and butterballs. Any of those sound good? OR homemade chocolate fudge? I can do peppermint, coffee or orange additions, with or without nuts. Send me all of the foodz! Molasses gingerbread cookies sound particularly delicious. Victim, darling, are you a fan of the Dresden Dolls? I'm seeing them this Saturday and there will no doubt be some good merch including t-shirts, posters, stickers and even artisanal chocolate bars! 😮 Any of that sound appealing? (if t-shirt, pls give size!) Oh my goodness, you lucky bug! I was debating trying to get tickets for their LA show on New Years, until Amanda announced that it was not actually in LA 😭. I would love a t-shirt, sticker, or chocolate bar (why aren't more bands doing artisanal chocolate bars as merch!?!?!). My Taurean self would be especially hyped for the chocolate, but I'd also be down for a large unisex shirt (normally, I get mediums, but they can vary between manufacturers and a large would have enough boob space/last forever). I uncovered a secret supply of vintage LE BPAL Trading Post soaps in my possession! I realize some folks are over bar soap, but in case you'll make an exception, lmk and maybe Krampus will deem you nice enough to get one I love bar soaps, and you have a secret supply!? In the past, I've had these BPTP soaps: Snow White, Misk U, Snake Oil, Shub, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, Anne Bonny, Dirty, and a smaller test bar of an unreleased soap. Man, I miss BPTP products.

Either the bottle I swapped for has aged really well, or I just lucked out, because I actually get plenty of the beeswax-esque smoke-touched rosin along with the sweet, pink bubblegum. I dislike bubblegum (I don't want to chew it or smell like it, generally, although I do like the Lab's Jailbait scent), but I don't dislike this? Because there's enough rosin here to keep it in check. I'm glad I took a chance on this one. It's a keeper!
-
Caladrium was mostly about the mulberry on me, with just touches of the other notes (the flax was more noticeable to me than the others). It's definitely a scent for berry lovers. I'm really glad I got to try it, since I had to be selective about my 2016 Liliths as I was living in Germany at the time, but I was really hoping there would be more rosemary with that berry!
-
This starts off strongest on the black tea on me (which doesn't have a touch of anise here, thankfully), backed by the cherry blossom and the lily, with a splash of the rice wine adding some acidity. The floral notes gain strength with wear, but it remains a floral and tea scent, sometimes more tea, sometimes more floral. I was not able to detect any of the white mint, but I think perhaps that note may have aged out of this scent. I'm not sure I'd wear this over other tea or cherry blossom scents in my collection, but I'm glad I got to try it!
-
Original version, official imp. This is a very sour, tart currant and clove scent on me. The currant is strongest in the beginning, but the clove gains strength over time. The sour quality never really goes away, though. I really was expecting the blackcurrant in this to be sweeter! While I enjoy the clove, the currant just isn't vibing with me.
-
I passed on this when it was available, but I was very lucky to swap for a decant recently, and let me just say, this is the most realistic banana note that the Lab has ever used!? Like, there's no Laffy Taffy banana here, it's truly fresh banana and whipped cream surrounded by vanilla wafer crumbs. It smells delicious. I'm definitely hanging onto the decant, and I'm going to see if I can grab any amount of the hair gloss to pair with all of my banana scents!

Whiskey, Candlesmoke, and Musk Atmosphere Spray
doomsday_disco replied to razzlecupcake's topic in Atmosphere
I really didn't like this one. I ended up having to throw the paper towel I sprayed one spray on away because I couldn't stand the smell out of it, and it was so damn strong. To my nose, I got mostly a dark, grape-like musk (the musk I hate the most) with just a little beeswax-tinged candle smoke and whiskey behind it. I don't know what it was like later in the night because I only tolerated it for about an hour. I love beeswax/candle scents, but this one isn't for me. You have to like this sort of musk in order to enjoy this one. -
This is a very incense-y scent, but a comforting one. I get the resins with a lot of champaca at first, but the champaca melds with the resins so well that it becomes really smooth instead of heady? The red sandalwood dominates by the end of the day, backed by the other resins, and the champaca is very tame by that point. I also swear I get a bit of clove -- perhaps from the brimstone? It's not something I need more of, but I do like it more than I thought I would!

Breathless Horror is mostly camphor and frankincense (olibanum) on me for the longest time, with some white musk that emerges more with wear so that it ends up being a resinous white musk scent with just a hint of coolness by the end of the day, and what I think may be the carrot seed? It has that melancholic vibe that I feel like must be the carrot seed. I also get a citrus-like quality to this that isn't quite citrus -- perhaps that is the niaouli (although Google says that's more along the lines of eucalyptus?). The citrus-y note and white musk are giving me late drydown La Joconde vibes. I like the end result of this more than the beginning, but I'm a little sad that the white mint never got a chance to shine, as I love that note! I think I'll hang onto the decant for now, although I'm not sure how often I'd reach for it (especially over Travel Buddies, which I enjoy more).
-
I get the tangerine, sandalwood, and pear upon application, with a bit of musky ambergris. Over time, the sandalwood and benzoin gain strength, as does the ambergris, and it ends up being a musky, somewhat powdery, dry white sandalwood and benzoin on me (with maybe the slightest bit of sweetness from the tonka). I'm glad I got to try this, but I soooo wish the tangerine had stuck around longer (as that's what I was here for)!
-
To me, this is an unripe pink strawberry accompanied by a rain note that gets more prominent with wear (and eventually confines the strawberry to a background role). It's a perfume-y aquatic note, but it's not a salt bomb like the oceanic aquatics, and it does have a watery quality to it. This is a unique aquatic, and I'm so glad I got to try it! Thank you to the kind BPALer who frimped this to me. I'll be keeping my decant.

Artist Unknown Honey, rose petals, and carnations - a drop of blood - red clover, cubeb berries, and vanilla cream. Aww, the thing that looks like a miniature version of the dragon-dog from The Neverending Story isn't on the label. In the bottle: I believe features the same carnation note as Startled Toad. At least, there is a lemony aspect present, and the combination of whatever that note is and the carnation remind me of that scent. It's not the spicy carnation found in scents like Queen Alice. I feel like this scent is similar to the Trading Post's Butterfly Nectar bath oil. This is a peppy scent. I'm mainly getting sweet flower petals and what I think may be the cubeb berry. The vanilla cream note is present, but it resides in the background. Wet: I'm getting more of the vanilla cream note on my skin. The carnation note is the most prominent note, which isn't surprising – carnation tends to do that on my skin. I don't dislike it, but I hope this doesn't turn into carnation single note. At the moment, the rose is quite prominent as well. Dry: I think the blood note contains clove, as I can smell some clove now (or is that the cubeb berry?), along with the florals, honey, and a bit of vanilla cream. After a while, I mainly smell carnation, clove (or cubeb? The Google tells me that is peppery), rose, and a hint of the vanilla. Verdict: I bought this one because of the name and the sugary florals. But I was worried about the carnation being too prominent for my liking, and it is. I'm going to let this settle some more and retest it before deciding whether or not to keep it. Hopefully the vanilla will come out more with age. I don't dislike it, but I own a lot of sugary floral scents, and I can't see myself reaching for this one very often.

I have tested this several times, but have neglected to review it. Time to change that now! This goes on as the Lab's lovely, realistic dandelion note, but quickly becomes more about the honeyed currants and wine on me. It is very sweet, and remains that way for a long time, before the dandelion fights its way back in among those sweet notes and it becomes a little more balanced (but is still more about the wine than the dandelion). I am glad I got to try the perfume version of this (I have the bath oil, which I use as a moisturizer to pair with other currant-y scents, like Eat Me), but I don't think I'd reach for it since the dandelion didn't remain as strong as it was in the beginning.

I've tried this a few times, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Here's the thing. It smells so boozy at first, in the bottle and on the skin. I don't know if it is the breadiness or the chocolate chips doing that, or the combination of both. Eventually that boozy blast calms down and it does become muffin-y/quick loaf-y. I can smell the smooth muffin top. I made pumpkin scones with Libby's pumpkin last month, and that's the pumpkin scent that I got from this, especially after it has been dry for a few hours. The pumpkin spice in this is pretty light, so it's worth a try if you are afraid of spice. And the chocolate chips are pretty tame, too! There's definitely more muffin and pumpkin than chocolate here. I'm going to let this sit for a few more weeks and come back to it and see if I can make a decision about it. I like the end result, but the initial boozy blast is a little much for me.

I have Zombi and all of its variants, so I couldn't stop with this one, especially since it is apple! Bobbing for Zombies is recognizably Zombi, but it not nearly as somber thanks to the addition of the apple note. The rose is really tame here compared to the original, as I think it just adds a bit of brightness and bite to the apple. Over time, the moss aspect of Zombi gains strength, so that it is mostly moss and dirt with what remains of the apple by the end of the day. I agree with the cemetery comparison and would say it's like walking through a cemetery with apple trees and fallen apples on an autumn day. I deathmatched this against another apple and dirt scent from the Lab, 2013's All Hallows' Apple. The apple in that one is redder and stays more prominent throughout wear than the apple in Bobbing for Zombies, and there is no moss in that one, so it is firmly apple and dirt. But if you have tried and liked that one, you'd probably enjoy this one as well, and I think they are different enough to warrant owning both. I'm really happy to have a bottle of this one.

Loli.Goth is very pink, but also very perfume-y. It's the iris. It doesn't typically work on me, and it is too loud and screechy here as well. The pink musk and peach are the most prominent notes along with it, with a touch of strawberry. It's a a sophisticated pink scent, and I think I would enjoy it if it weren't for that pesky iris!

I get fun dip or pixie stick powder, smarties dust, and perhaps a little fruity taffy from this? Which I guess is a lot better than some of the other reviewers got. Maybe I should test it again and see if I get any chocolate, candy corn, caramel, or other notes. In any case, it is cheap candy debris, not the good stuff. I am glad I got to try this and deathmatch it with X-Rayed Candy Bag, but I vastly prefer that one for a candy bag scent.
