at first: wow. super-juicy, dark blackberry, honey, and lavender and something floral. on: this is gorgeous. it's almost wine-like on me, but it's a bit too sweet for that. amazing. 1 hour later: blackberry wine: sweet, thick, and heady. 1.5 hours later: still gorgeous. a tiny bit powdery, but still mostly heady blackberry wine. 3 hours later: this is a bit softer now, but still has that nice base of blackberry wine. 5.5 hours later: sweet, powdery blackberry. overall: i love this! it's a little heady, so i probably shouldn't wear it to work, but it's a lovely fruit scent that is perfect for cooler weather. woo hoo!

Reminder about swaplifts, resolved swaplifts, and feedback
grrrlennyl replied to ipb's topic in Announcements
this is just a reminder that you must contact a swap mod (me, scylla, twistygirl, or clephan) directly via PM and not use the report center if you think you've been swaplifted before leaving swap feedback to that effect. in addition, you must wait 6 weeks for something to be considered a swaplift. thanks! -
at first: bright bergamot with a something a bit darker underneath. on: lots of bergamot and aquatic notes. 1 hour later: bright and aquatic, with lots of bergamot. 2.5 hours later: sweet, bright bergamot. 5 hours later: something dark and watery. overall: this is ok, but not really very interesting on me. i like the nice, bright bergamot at the beginning, though.

The hollow scent of a vast antediluvian civilization, now frozen and buried, smothered by a thick sheet of ice and trapped deep beneath the ocean. Thick incense, clay, stone, and hothouse blooms with a spike of frost, a hint of decay, and heavy, dolorous aquatic notes. at first: a spicy, earthy, hot incense blend. on: there's a definite stone-like feel to this one. i can smell some heavy florals and aquatic notes, but mostly it smells of incense. 2 hours later: a lovely aquatic with some nice floral notes underneath. i'm still getting a bit of that stone-like note, but the incense is pretty much gone. 5 hours later: a clean, cold, stony scent. overall: this is interesting. like black opal, it has a rock-like scent to it, which is odd. i didn't really like how this smelled on me, but i don't tend to like incense blends much.

at first: sweet cocoa with a bit of caramel and a lot of warm cardamom. on: this smells exactly like chocolate-covered cherries, but with some cardamom added. 2 hours later: i think the cardamom has taken this one over. i'm getting nothing sweet; just some toned-down cardamom. 5 hours later: vegetable-y. overall: some chocolate-heavy scents ends up smelling like vegetables on me and this is one of them.

at first: a heady, dark floral. on: i'm mostly getting opium and magnolia with a hint of patchouli underneath. half an hour later: there's something almost anise-y to this. aside from that, it's a dark, lush floral. the jasmine is really coming forward nicely. 1.5 hours later: tons of something that really reminds me of anise with a bit of a powdery floral. 3 hours: there's something almost effervescent to this now. a bubbly tart-sweet scent. interesting. 4.5 hours later: still something tart and bubbly, but with a sweet anise note underneath. overall: this is rather gorgeous. it's very dark at first, but ends up pretty bright at the end on me.

at first: incense with sandalwood and something a bit sweet. on: a cold, almost metallic sandalwood scent. odd. 1.5 hours later: sweet incense with super-dry sandalwood. 3.5 hours later: very, very dry sandalwood with a hint of something sweet. 4.5 hours later: heady sandalwood incense with a bit of sweetness. overall: this is ok, but there are other sandalwood incense blends that work better on my skin.

at first: a dark, salty wood scent. on: a salty, ocean-y sort of scent with some woods and incense in the background. 1.5 hours later: salty and earthy, with a bit of incense. this has a bit of a salty skin scent to it, too 3.5 hours later: darker still. a bit sweet and floral, too, but that's in the background. 4.5 hours later: dark and earthy, with a hint of pine. overall: this is interesting, but not something i would wear. i'd probably like to smell it on someone else, though.

at first: a sweet, fruity floral. on: i can smell the sugary lychee in this, along with orange and a host of other fruits and some flowers. very pretty. half an hour later: sweet fruits with some flowers in the background. 1 hour later: a generally warm fruit-floral scent. 2 hours later: the notes of this blend are hard to distinguish. i'm getting a nice, warm, floral scent with soft fruits. 3.5 hours later: a bit brighter and fruitier, but with a nice floral in the background. overall: this is really pretty, but not "me".

at first: super-strong eucalyptus. on: tons of menthol and eucalyptus. crazy-strong. however, it managed to immediately soothe my sinuses, which is a bit of a miracle. half an hour later: my headache isn't as intense, but it isn't gone. there's a hint of soft mint after it dries. overall: this is the type of thing that i need to keep sniffing, but when i do, my sinuses are really, really happy. i'm going to have to put a bunch on a cloth or something and keep huffing it. hehe...

at first: bright, white, and ozone-y. on: ozone and bitter citrus rind. i can just barely smell some light amber underneath. half an hour later: smooth sandalwood, light amber, and bitter citrus. 1.5 hours later: sweeter citrus with some nice sandalwood. 3 hours later: powdery sandalwood and bitter citrus still. 4 hours later:a more biting bitter citrus with some sweet sandalwood underneath. 4.5 hours later: there's a bit of a vegetable-like undertone to this now. 6.5 hours later: powdery and a bit citrussy. overall: this is interesting. it has an asian sort of vibe to it.

at first: a sark caramel scent. on: mostly caramel with a hint of dry cinnamon. 1 hour later: i think the red sandalwood is going funky on me. i'm getting a bit of a vegetable-like scent to this under the spices. 3.5 hours later: the tobacco is coming out more and mixing with the cinnamon and caramel. i'm still getting a vegetable undertone to this, though. 4.5 hours later: a dark spicy scent, but still with some of that vegetable note int he background. overall: a lovely, dark, spicy, sweet scent. unfortunately, my skin does something odd to one of the notes.

at first: a cold pine forest scent with a hint of apple. on: this is lovely. lots of pine and apple. a unique winter scent. 1 hour later: lovely. pine and woods with a bit of a chill, if that makes any sense. 3.5 hours later: fruit and pine. 4.5 hours later: still very fruity with pine. overall: this is a really interesting "snow" scent. the apple definitely gave it a nice twist.
-

-
at first: heavy almond. on: wow. this is gorgeous. sweet almond and incense notes. 2 hours later: mostly myrrh. 4.5 hours later: sweet and dark. overall: this is a nice variation on snake oil. i wish the almond would hang around longer.
-
at first: a sweet, citrussy, floral scent with a lot of patchouli. on: lemon and incense notes. also, a deep, dark patchouli. lovely. 2.5 hours later: mostly heavy, clean patchouli. 4.5 hours later: this is mostly a really simple patchouli on me. 7 hours later: soft patchouli and something powdery. overall: lovely stuff. it reminds me a bit of depraved, but more sophisticated and complex.
-
at first: herbs and incense. on: a sweet orchid and dry herbs. 2.5 hours later: sharp, dusty, and incensy. 4.5 hours later: much, much sweeter. dusty flowers. 7 hours later: a sweet, powdery floral. overall: this is pretty and develops in a really interesting way.

at first: sharp apple blossom and a hint of lily. on: apple-y and floral. very pretty. 1.5 hours later: a sweet, slightly fruity floral. 6.5 hours later: a fresh, slightly fruity springtime floral. very pretty. 8 hours later: a bit powdery, but mostly a slightly fruity floral. overall: this is really nice. usually anything with the word "blossom" in it goes sharp and soapy on me, but this didn't. this will be a nice, light scent for the spring.
-
at first: a honey/carmamel sweetness. on: definitely caramel. 1.5 hours later: lots of caramel and dark patchouli. very nice. 6.5 hours later: sweet, dark, and earthy. tons of smooth patchouli and caramel. 8 hours later: still going strong. mostly sweet caramel, but with a nice patchouli base. overall: i wasn't sure about this at first, but it ended up really nice on me. it isn't too foody and lasts a long time.
-

-
at first: tons of vetiver. on: i only put a tiny dab of this on because i fear vetiver. it's actually not bad, though. i'm getting some bright pomegranate and sweet amber. however, the vetiver still dominates. 2 hours later: earthy, dark musk and vetiver with a hint of ginger. 4 hours later: lots of patchouli and vetiver with a hint of amber. 5.5 hours later: heavy, earthy notes. overall: amazingly, while i was able to smell the vetiver the entire time, it didn't smell bad to me. crazy, eh? i don't know if it was this particular combination of notes or what, but it worked with my skin for a change.
