On: Gorgeous. Sometimes musks don't work on me (especially red musk), but black musk is usually a safe bet. This is sweet and heady and earthy and amazing. 3 hours in: This is going very, very soapy on me. 7 hours in: Very faint. Overall: I adore this at first, but don't like the drydown on me.
-
Parthenope On: Very pretty and hard to describe. I think I'm mostly getting orris and moss with some sweet floral notes. Half an hour in: So amazingly pretty. It's hard for me to pick out the notes in this still, but I think I'm getting a lot of star jasmine, which is gorgeous. 5.5 hours in: Sweet star jasmine and other really pretty sweet flowers. Overall: This is just such a different sort of floral. So lovely.
-
Lady Una On: Incredibly sweet musk and an almost sour note. Powdery and sweet, too. Pretty. Half an hour in: Powdery, sweet musk, with a bit of a soapy edge. I'm hoping the soapy note goes away. 5.5 hours in: Sweeter and powdery. Soft. I think the vanilla bean is coming forward more. Overall: This is such a pretty scent.

Hymn to Proserpine Note: I wear this all the time, and have for years, but never got around to reviewing it. On: Sweet amber and fruits. Not syrupy or heavy, though. Lovely. 4 hours in: So pretty. Powdery and sweet. Nice and strong. 7 hours in: Lovely. Powdery, sweet amber. Overall: This is one of my favorites. It has great lasting power on me and smells amazing.

Note: I've been wearing this regularly since it first came out and am finally getting around to reviewing it. On: Sweet, light, fruity white wine. Very pretty. There's definitely a less sweet, almost grassy note from the dandelion, which I love. 4 hours in: A sweet floral with a hint of white wine. 7 hours in: Sweeter now and even more of a floral.. So pretty. A bit powdery. Overall: One of my favorite oils. It's another one that smells really great on me and lasts a long time.

Thorns On: Green, a bit sweet, a bit dirty, and a bit salty. 1.5 hours in: Green and woody, with a sweet and salty undertone. 5 hours in: Sweet and green. Pretty. Overall: This is a really interesting sweet earthy scent. If it didn't have that salty note to it, I'd probably like it more.

Smokestack
grrrlennyl replied to hipslike___cinderella's topic in Phoenix Steamworks & Research Facility
Smokestack On: Dark and dirty and a bit metallic. 1.5 hours in: Sweeter now, almost syrupy, but very, very light. 5 hours in: Mostly a dirty smell with something metallic. Overall: This is very evocative, but not something I would reach for often. I was surprised by its sweetness. -
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn On: Lots of earthy musk. 2 hours in: Sweet and earthy, with a healthy dose of musk. 6 hours in: The patchouli is coming forward more, along with some amber. It's giving this more of a sweet, earthy scent, which smells really good on me. I can also catch a bit of a floral note underneath. Overall: This is a really pretty, earthy scent that isn't too dark.

Milk cresting on an ocean wave. On: Salty and ozone-filled water with a hint of something sweet and creamy. A very odd combination. 2 hours in: Mostly sweet cream with a salty edge. 6 hours in: Still sweet cream. I think this is a bit too creamy for me. Overall: This is too much for me.
-
Oleander Honey On: Honey with a sweet floral background. Very pretty. 1 hour in: So floral. Still a bit sweet, but a bit soapy, too. 5 hours in: A floral honey scent. Sweeter. 6 hours in: More of a honey scent now with a hint of flowers. Overall: This is a really, really pretty honey scent. Not overwhelming or sticky. If I didn't already have Doll's Eye Infused Honey, I'd be tempted by this one.
-
On: Heavy, almost alcoholic anise and chocolate. Very dark. 1 hour in: Softer now. This smells like sweet, black licorice. 5 hours in: Soft, black licorice with a hint of cocoa. 6 hours in: Still about the same, maybe with more cocoa than licorice. Overall: I really like the smell of anise and black licorice, so I'm glad this worked on me and wasn't too foody. The cacao nibs note was a nice addition and it didn't go vegetable-y on me like some chocolate scents do.
-
Tombeur On: Wow. This is really strong on me. The notes are all pretty identifiable, especially the patchouli, musk, and lavender, but they go together well. Vetiver tends to mess things up on me and almond isn't always great, so I'm curious as to how this will develop on me. 1 hour in: I can smell the vanilla-infused sandalwood, but this is mostly earthy musk, patchouli, and vetiver on me. Sweet, but dirty. 2.5 hours in: Mostly a sweet wood scent with a bit of patchouli. Overall: This was pretty, but I have other oils that work better on me.
-
Transeo On: Pretty orange blossom with other orange notes. Right now, that's all I can pick out. 1 hour in: Berries and orange notes with earthy cumin and bit of wine. Very interesting. 2.5 hours in: Fruity and slightly spicy, but very dark and earthy. Overall: This isn't something I'd reach for often. I liked it at first, though. The cumin really gave it a nice, earthy warmth.
-
Silenti On: Moss and powdery spring flowers. 1 hour in: This is turning to all myrrh on me. 2 hours in: There's a fresh, sweet floral to this now, but it's still mostly a dark incense scent. 4.5 hours in: Dark, slightly soapy, incense. Overall: This is interesting, but doesn't work for me.
-
Sanctus On: Fruity flowers, musk, and incense. Very, very pretty. 1 hour in: Lots of frankincense and musk. This is smelling rather musty on me. 2 hours in: Yeah, still musty, but with something sweet. 4.5 hours in: A woodsy incense scent. Overall: This was nice at first, but the drydown doesn't suit me.

Eons of grief and unending hunger: magnolia, black currant, castoreum accord, lavender, labdanum, amber, rose otto, and opoponax. Misericordia On: Lots of lavender. 2 hours in: I'm definitely getting the black currant now, which is giving the scent a candy-like edge. There are lots of sweet, powdery, herbal, and floral notes underneath. Very pretty. 6.5 hours in: Tart, powdery candies. Overall: This was quite a surprise on me. I wasn't expecting it to go candyish, but I ended up really liking it.
-
Interfector On: Wow. Sweet incense and woods. Very strong. Almost overpowering. 2 hours in: This is really interesting. There's a lovely, almost anise-like note. Maybe the bunn? It also still smells of tobacco and wood, but with that sweeter scent over it. 6.5 hours in: A sweet, almost syrupy wood scent. Overall: This is really nice after it dries on my skin, but I don't think I'd wear it often.
-
Anne Beany On: So sweet! Lots and lots or sweet rum and butterscotch and creamy notes. 1 hour in: Still very sweet, but there's a vegetable-like undertone to it, which I get with some of the sweeter scents. 2 hours in: Still about the same and still a strong scent. 6 hours in: A bit powdery not, but still mostly sweet with a radish-like note underneath. Overall: Sigh, my skin messes stuff up sometimes.
-
Philologus On: Musty paper and faint incense notes. 1 hour in: Surprisingly perfumey. A bit soapy. Still rather dry and powdery, but definitely smells generally like a perfume. 2 hours in: Still about the same. 6 hours in: A powdery, soapy perfume. Overall: This didn't develop very nicely on me.
-
Bogle On: Sweet, bright red currant and a ton of other delicious fruits. Very nice. I also am getting a bit of sweetness from the vanilla bean and/or tonka. 1.5 hours in: Mostly smells of some sort of wood. 5 hours in: Still the scent of wood, but with a tiny bit of sweetness. 7 hours in: Powdery, a bit sweet, but still mostly wood. Overall: I don't like how this develops on me.
-
Mitzvah Goreret Mitzvah On: An incredibly delicious, sweet apple scent. 1.5 hours in: Powdery and woody with a bit of sweetness. 5 hours in: Prettier now. Powdery and a bit sweet and herbal. Unfortunately, there's still too much of a wood scent for me. 7 hours in: Mostly woods, but with an interesting herbal/sweet scent. Overall: This doesn't really work on me.
-
Bocal de Sang On: Sweet and heavy, almost sticky, but floral, too. I might getting a hint of anise or chocolate underneath; something dark. 2 hours in: Sweet and floral, with a bit of something metallic. 7 hours in: Still sweet, but not so floral. Overall: Pretty, but I don't think I'd reach for it often.
-
Laurel Honey On: Incredibly fresh and green with sweet, light, bright honey. 1 hour in: Very pretty. There's an almost mint-like note to this at the moment on top of the honey, plus a sweet, lush floral note. 5 hours in: A pretty, bright, almost fruity honey. Very nice. 7 hours in: This is a bit sweeter and not quite as light. Overall. If I didn't already have Doll's Eye Infused Honey, I might be tempted to get a bottle of this.

Kusunoki Tamonmaru Masatsura Surprising a Fox Ghost
grrrlennyl replied to Invidiana's topic in Limited Editions
On: Sweet, light, a bit powdery, musky. 1 hour in: This is sweet, but also sort of dirty and musty. 5 hours in: Powdery with a vegetable-like note. 7 hours in: A slightly soapy floral. Sharp. Overall: This is amazing at first, but goes weird on me. -
Calaveras On: Sweet, mostly with cocoa scent. There's also a milky, caramely scent with a bit of spice. 1 hour in: Powdery, sweet cocoa with a vegetable undernote. (My skin sometimes does this to chocolate scents.) 6 hours later: The vegetable note eventually went away and thsi is mostly a powdery cocoa scent. Overall: This is nice, but I can't deal with the vegetable-note interlude on me. My skin chemistry is weird.
