at first: a beautiful rose softened by damp greenery. lovely. on: tons of rose and a lot of pine. an interesting and pleasant combination. this is perfect for the chilly, rainy weather we're having today. 1 hour later: this is really old lady-ish on me. floral, powdery, and slightly soapy. overall: this is nice at first, but my skin does terrible things to it.

at first: definitely medicinal and herby. on: wow. strong. is that eucalyptus? menthol-y. lemongrass or something similar, which is good. i love lemongrass. 1.5 hours later: much sweeter. i can't really pick out the notes right now. a bit powdery. 2.5 hours later: vaguely floral and herbal. overall: this is an interesting scent. i haven't tried it out for its intended purpose, but will update this once i do.

at first: all i'm getting out of the bottle is lovely blood orange. on: i'm getting tons of blood orange and a hint of vanilla. very lovely. half an hour later: sweet and lovely. it's still all vanilla and orange. wonderful. 1.5 hours later: sweeter and powdery. i can smell the amber, gardenia, and musk now. lovely. 2.5 hours later: lots of soft white gardenia and amber, and a dusting of musk. overall: this is really nice on me. i'm glad i got it.

at first: cool, floral, and faintly sweet. on: wow. slightly sweet and wet. tons of lily, which is always a good thing for me. half an hour later: soapy. very soapy. poor me. 1.5 hours later: dusty and soapy. 2.5 hours later: soft and soapy. overall: one of the floral notes just didn't work on me.

The pearl of the Italian Renaissance. Elegant iris, bright berries, gilded amber and velvety spices. at first: i'm not sure what iris smells like, but i'm definitely getting the berries, amber, and spices. lovely. on: much darker. i think all i'm getting is the iris, with the slightest hint of berries. 45 minutes later: this is going very sharp on me. there's a hint of amber in the background. 1.5 hours later: just generally sharp and floral. overall: my skin does not like this at all.

at first: i'm mostly getting the vetiver and lemon rind. not sure about this one. on: still soft. dusty. i can catch a hint of lemon rind, but the rest is dusty, light woods. 1 hour later: dusty woods. very pretty and light. 3 hours later: soft and almost sweet. very nice. pretty. overall: this is very pretty, but probably not something i would wear often.

at first: this lab included this as a freebie in my order. tart berries and heather. a nice combination. on: definitely green and lush. cool, too. there's just the slightest hint of blackberry in the background. 1.5 hours later: dusty and green. still cool. refreshing. i can't really pick out any notes. 2.5 hours later: gone. overall: this is nice, but not much else.

at first: very hot and firey. on: juicy and earthy. an odd combination, but i like it. it isn't as strong as i thought it would be. half an hour later: this is giving me a headache. 1.5 hours later: yeah. headache. big-time. overall: obviously, this is a bad oil for me.

at first: this was a freebie from the lab. fruit and musk. sweet and fresh. on: almost boozy. odd. i can definitely smell the orchid and the plum, but something is already going sharp and soapy on me. i'm also catching the green-ness of the daffodil and the lightness of the musk. 20 minutes later: i smell like beer. 1.5 hours later: powdery, with a hint of beer. overall: clearly, this is not a scent for me.

at first: i can smell the citrus, with some other notes in the background. on: lots of citrus, roses, and amber. half an hour later: lots of jasmine and notice. the sweetness of the amber and the freshness of the citrus are gone. 1.5 hours later: some of the citrus is back, but barely. the rose is also stronger, with the jasmine and orris underneath. 2 hours later: the amber and orris are strongest now, with the citrus notes in the background. overall: this really changes a lot, but i don't really like any of the stages of it.

at first: a musty, beautiful orchid. on: sweet and lovely. i adore this. half an hour later: beautiful. faintly sweet and simple. it's musty, too, which makes it a bit heavier. lovely stuff. 1.5 hours later: sweet, almost candy-ish and floral. 2 hours later: still that lovely, sweet, musty orchid. overall: i got a bottle of this on a whim and i am so glad that i did. i'll definitely be wearing this one a lot.

at first: very light and moss-y. on: i'm getting myrrh, moss, and incense. i'm not sure about this one. half an hour later: just generally warm and dry. 1 hour later: still that generally warm woody scent. 2 hours later: still wood. overall: this was really boring on me. i don't really have anything else to say.

at first: i got this because i heard that it smelled like "dirty panties". is that wrong? anyway, it's definitely iron-y. can't wait to try it out. on: definitely metallic with a base of wood. 2 hours later: there's a hint of sweet wood to this now. 3 hours later: sweet and metallic. very interesting. 5 hours later: dusty and metallic, with a hint of sweetness. overall: this is quite a captivating scent. i couldn't stop sniffing my wrists. it's odd, but i like that.

at first: this is herbal, but mostly heavy on the clove. lovely stuff. on: cloves and...violets? a nice combination. half an hour later: lovely violet and clove scent. i adore this. 1 hour later: powdery violets and warm cloves. did i mention that i adore this? overall: this is just amazing. i can't say how well this works, but i sure felt capable and beautiful while wearing it.

at first: mostly just dark patchouli. on: lots of patchouli and the warmth of cardamom. 1 hour later: just cardamom. warm and comforting. 2 hours later: generally warm. overall: i'm not sure about this one. it was pretty much a single note (cardamom) on me until it disappeared. i might have to give it another go at some point.

at first: warm, with a dustiness to it. on: very warm and...dark? weird. when i smell this closely, it's a very dark gold, but it's almost pink-smelling and sweet if i'm farther away. interesting. half an hour later: lovely. a sweet floral. heliotrope? that would make sense? there's a bit of biting soapiness, too. 1.5 hours later: sweet and less soapy. this isn't bright, but more of a mellow sort of golden yellow. love it. 4 hours later: there's a gentle resiny scent to this now. overall: this is nice, but not something i'd reach for often.

at first: very sweet and foody. on: wow...really sweet. heavy. the cocoa is dry, which is good, and the pumpkin is sweet. i think this one may be a bit much for me. half an hour later: dark chocolate and pumpkin. obviously. the hazelnut and walnut are there, but are very soft. 4 hours later: just generally sweet. i can't pick out any notes. overall: this just isn't really me.

at first: lemongrass! on: lovely lemongrass. beautiful. half an hour later: lemongrass!!! 1.5 hours later: more herbal. overall: i adore this at first, but the lemongrass fades too quickly.

at first: a dark, earthy note. i don't like it. on: this is a really bad scent on me. i'm not sure what it is. half an hour later: fruity and strong. the bad scent seems to be gone, which is good. 1.5 hours later: sweet, but confident. overall: this is definitely a confidence-inspiring scent.

at first: earthy incense. on: very, very dark and smooth. half an hour later: this is definitely conducive to meditation. it has an earthy incense scent that is very nice. 1.5 hours later: dusty and incensy. overall: if i didn't already have some scents that are good for meditation, i'd think of trying to get some of this.

at first: sweet. on: fruitier, almost tart. half an hour later: fruity and tart. i can see how this would be a good oil to make one feel cheery. 1.5 hours later: very dry and tart. candylike. overall: this is a really happy scent. it reminds me of a drier version of aunt caroline's joy mojo.

at first: peppermint and something else. on: a very natural mint scent. half an hour later: still minty, but warm, too. interesting. 1.5 hours later: salty and odd. overall: i'm not sure about this one.

at first: sweet, light, and very pretty. on: still sweet and light. half an hour later: sweet and white. lovely. this is really calming and centering. 1.5 hours later: even softer and more floral. beautiful. overall: this is definitely going on my wishlist. it's lovely.

at first: dark, with a hint of fruit and some sort of earthy note. on: sweet and dark. half an hour later: dark and sexy. however, there's something underneath that i really don't like. 1.5 hours later: dark and slightly soapy. overall: this is ok, but not something i'd probably buy. it doesn't keep the "sexy" vibe for long enough.

does anyone else have any ideas as far as oils that are close to the original realities by liz claiborne? it's been discontinued and it's my mom's signature perfume.
