at first: beautiful. a soft, watery floral. i think i really like lily. on: fabulous. like tushnamatay (a powdery, bright white floral), but sweeter. this is so beautiful. 4.5 hours later: the carnation is more pronounced now, but with sweet pea peeking through and the lily enveloping them both. i really like this a lot. 10 hours later: still strong. in fact, it seems even stronger than when i put it on. a great oil! overall: well, i may just have to grab a 5ml of this once i use up my imp. it is just too beautiful.

at first: i don't know what to say about this. it's just so...intense. i can smell the nutmeg at first, but the other scents sort of swirl around it. it's a very chaotic scent. on: ewww. like being in the apartment or car of someone who smokes...a lot. i think i smell something a bit licorice-y, too. very odd. 1 hour later: yup. old, stale smoke. this is not nice on me at all. 3 hours later: weird. still stale smoke for the most part, with a hint of licorice at the end. i don't like this. overall: this just doesn't work for me. off to swap...

at first: uh-oh. something smells a little pickle-like in this one. i hope it's better on. on: salty pickles. however, it seems to sweeten a bit, plus there's a bit of flowers coming out. 1 hour later: much lighter. the salty/pickly scent is gone. mostly flowers, but not any one scent in particular. 3 hours later: floral at first, and then a bit salty. however, the pickle smell is gone, so it's actually kind of nice now. overall: a very odd scent, at least on me. however, i kind of like the oddness, once the pickle smell disappears. this one will be swapped.

at first: this was a freebie from the lab. sweet, but in an incredibly watery way. the same way kool-aid is watery and sweet, but, obviously, it doesn't smell like kool-aid. on: a light red, sweet, thin liquid. this is definitely watery. i really like it. 6 hours later: more of an incensy kind of sweet now, not as watery. it's very nice, though. overall: i probably wouldn't have gotten this for myself, but i like it. i'm not sure if i'll end up buying it in the future, but i'll enjoy using up my imp.

at first: this was an extra from the lab. sweet, but dry. i can't really pick anything out. on: very nice. it's like a thinner version of dragon's blood. i really like it. 2 hours later: very interesting. a powdery floral, almost soapy, but with the dragon's blood behind it. very lovely. 8 hours later: i can still catch the smell, if i try. it's almost a bit candy-ish now; kind of like sweet tarts or something. however, it's sweeter than that. very interesting. overall: i like this, but don't think i'll wear it very often. i wouldn't get it again, but i'll enjoy using up my imp.
-
at first: a very heady jasmine, with a touch of something dark, which must be the myrrh. i haven't caught the rose. it's an interesting scent. on: a cloud of jasmine. however, i get the hint or rose and something else (must be the myrrh), which makes it more interesting and takes the jasmine down a notch. very pretty. half an hour later: a wonderful jasmine and rose blend. very feminine. 1 hour later: hmmm...i think i'm mostly smelling myrrh right now. it's ok, but that's all. i hope the jasmine comes back. 3.5 hour later: very sweet. why does my skin do this to scents? overall: it's too bad this turned so boring on me. however, i think it may make a nice, pretty room scent, so i'm going to try it in my oil burner. i won't be getting this one again.

at first: there is so much going on here. it definitely smells like the end of summer. it's sweet, heavily floral, and a bit herby. i like this one a lot. on: fruity, too...like apple and pomegranate. 1.5 hours later: sweeter, definitely a late summer / almost autumn scent. just very spicy and fruity, with tons of vibrant gold and red flowers tossed in. lovely. 6.5 hours later: this has lasted pretty well. it's mostly spicy now, though, with flowers and a bit of fruit in the background. still very nice. overall: this is just perfect for the end of summer / beginning of fall. floral, fruity, and spicy. i really like this one.
-
at first: woody, yet sweet. i definitely smell overripe cherries in there. it smells rich, maybe too rich for me. on: hmmm...this smells like nibs, those cherry liquorice things. however, when i smell more closely, i smell all sorts of wood scents. half an hour later: woody, but with some sort of sweet, dark fruits. very nice. 2.5 hours later: sweeter now, which isn't a surprise. however, i can still smell the red fruits and the woods. very nice and different. overall: this is very different. normally, i think of woody scents as masculine, but this isn't at all. it's a very full, womanly scent. i'll definitely be using up my imp, but i don't think it's made enough of an impression for me to buy it again.

Oil recommendations for studying, learning, exams

well, i wore block buster, and was able to focus pretty much the entire time. how much do i hate writing essays? anyway, for inquiring minds...here's what i got: 640 verbal 750 quantitative -
at first: at first, i think i'm smelling fruit, but it quickly turns ecstatically sweet and bubblegum-y. very interesting and very happy. it also seems very young, in an i'm-immature-but-i-don't-care sort of way. on: wow. sweet. like strawberry-flavored bubble yum. a very happy scent. 1 hour later: still really sweet. i think i'm smelling a tiny bit of cherry cough syrup. however, i also think i'm getting a bit of the heavy coconut scent that i smelled in the star. this is really nice. 4 hours later: still going strong. now it's a jam-like sweetness, but i can't really pick anything out. very nice. 7 hours later: still there. however, now it smells creamier, like some sort of fruity ice cream. it's really a happy scent. overall: i figured it out! this reminds me of a fruitier, juicier version of the star. it's nice, when i don't want something as heavy as the star. i didn't feel much happier, but i didn't really have any set intentions when i put it on.

bottle XI at first: this is beyond beautiful. i haven't the slightest clue what is in it, but it reminds me a bit of tushnamatay. i think i get a whiff of alcohol (not the drinking kind), but it disappears pretty quickly. i'm so glad i got this one! on: lovely. a bit sweet and a bit powdery, with a soft floral surrounding it. 1 hour later: still beautiful. a little sweeter. 2.5 hours later: lighter, but still holding on. the scent itself isn't changing much, which is wondering. i love this! 4 hours later: lighter still, but the scent is the same. i should have slathered this one on. overall: how did beth know to send me this chaos theory? i am in love. i'll be sad once i use it up, but at least tushnamatay is similar.

well, i'm feeling pretty good. i just took a part of a practice test and got a 680 on verbal. when i add that to my prior 700 on the quantitative section, i'm pretty much set. (oh, i'm preparing for the gre.) i'm taking the test this saturday morning. i still need to review some math crap, so i'll be wearing my block buster when i do that. -
at first: a surprisingly bright green swimming in dark blue water with flowers floating in it on a disgustingly humid day. on: a very strong, green floral. i'll stick with my humid day impression. 1 hour later: this has turned into a generic perfume on me. it's a sharp, biting floral. there's something green lingering underneath, but it's fading fast. 3 hours later: yes. very sharp, almost like strongly-scented soap. i really don't like this. 4.5 hours later: now, mostly like soap. no fun. 11 hours later: obviously, very faint. kind of like i washed my hands in sharply scented floral soap and it's wearing off. overall: this oil was on my wishlist for quite a while, but it just doesn't work on me. i'll definitely be swapping this one.

at first: i'm getting a bubbly tingle when i smell this that i get when i have champagne or anything like that. i think i smell a solitary slice of strawberry, too, but it isn't sweet; it's not quite ripe. on: definitely alcohol-y, bubbly, and sweet. however the sweet is more strawberry ice cream than real strawberry. as i'm wearing this, i'm thinking it wasn't a great choice for the morning, since it's making me feel a little hangover-y. half an hour later: sweeter, and alcohol smell has died down. it's like a bubbly strawberry milkshake. very nice. 2 hours later: this is turning disturbingly like a bath and body works body spray on me. it's as if there's a good scent there, but it's confused by a lot of alcohol-related fillers. it also smells a bit plastic-y. however, i may end up liking it, since it's starting to remind me of strawberry shortcake dolls a bit. 4 hours later: still going strong. however, it's mostly a cheap wine cooler type of plastic that i'm smelling. oh, but there's a bit of that bbw scent underlying it all. sigh... 7 hours later: fainter. still there, but barely. overall: i really wanted to love this one and at times i liked it, and at times i didn't. i'm going to keep my imp around for times when i want kind of a i-wanna-seem-grown-up-but-i'm-still-a-kid scent. however, i may end up swapping it eventually.

all night long is very cinnamony. so cinnamony, in fact, that it burned my skin quite badly.

d'oh! i just read the description for block buster over and, yeah...that seems like a great choice. now, i just have to set up an appointment to take the test. -
at first: this is an oil that i'd probably always skip over, since the description is pretty vague, so i'm glad the lab put it in my order so i could try it. it's herbal with a touch of sweetness. very pretty. on: beautiful. seriously. gorgeous. i just...love this. it's amazing. i can't describe it; it's just...perfect. 2 hours later: a little lighter, but i'm still in love. overall: this is just unreal. i love this so much. needless to say, i'll definitely be getting a bottle once i use up my imp.

well, i'll be taking the gre at some point (hopefullly soon) in order to get into this art history program i want to do. (i already have a master's, but it's an mba, not a "real" master's, so...yeah. off to take the test i go.) anyway, which oil would you recommend i wear? i'm not going to douse myself in it. i just want something i could sniff on my wrists to help keep me focused and moving along. unless the end of the review says i got rid of it, i have or am expecting the oils on this page: http://lynnewiora.com/bpal/reviews.html -
at first: very nice. definitely very autumnal. spicy, with something warm underneath. on: i'm smelling the same warm spicyness, but the smell of trees (pine, evergreen) comes through, too. i really like this. it's very interesting. half an hour later: this has changed into a seemingly singular smell. it's as if all of the notes have just combined to make one smell: the smell of autumn. this is wonderful. 1.5 hours later: still autumn. this is going to be fabulous when i'm in a jack kind of a mood, but want something less sweet. i want to douse myself in it, but am resisting, since i only have an imp. 4 hours later: i am in love with this. i keep getting whiffs of it, and it is just such a comfortable scent. it makes me feel all cozy. 7 hours later: still going strong. it hasn't changed much on me, which is great. i really like this. overall: even as i fell asleep, i could still smell this on me. it reminds me of the first time you need the wear a big sweater in order to go outside, that combination of crispness and coziness. i love it.

at first: i was dying to try this just because of the name, but the description drew me in more. i was so excited to see this included as an extra in my order. it smells like a cologne a very sophisticated man would spend a lot of money on. i can't wait to try it. on: smells like, well, men's cologne. however, it seems more complex and...softer somehow. it's very interesting on me. 1.5 hours later: much lighter and softer. very nice. i'm surprised i like this. i'm not sure which notes i'm smelling, but they're interesting. 5 hours later: pretty much gone. overall: this didn't do much for me, unfortunately. this is definitely one for the swap pile.

all night long burned me, but it has cinnamon in it. -
at first: oh, wow! this is spot-on! my mouth is watering. on: lovely. a perfectly tart pink grapefruit. a bit sweet, but mostly juicy and tart. 1 hour later: it's much lighter now. it's that scent you get after eating some grapefruit, the smell that's left lingering on your fingers. interesting. 2 hours later: this has completely disappeared. overall: i'll need to try slathering this stuff on in order for it to last. however, it is a gorgeous scent...if one likes the smell of pink grapefruit, of course. wonderful. i'm thinking this will be good as a mid-day pick-me-up. i'm still not sure if i'll get more of this, but i'll like using up my imp.

at first: this is gorgeous! it's fruity, with the wine in the background, and a floral smell surrounding it. i think this is going to be a favorite. on: this is beautiful. i smell the pear and wine, but there is something sweet and floral to it, too. i'm assuming that it's the heliotrope and the lotus. this is so beautiful. 1 hour later: this is a beautiful scent. it's a wonderful blend of the fruit, the floral, and the wine. this may turn out to be a favorite. 2 hours later: i keep thinking i'm smelling peaches and white wine. i really like this. 8 hours later: obviously, this has faded quite a bit. however, i catch whiffs of a more fresh, crisp pear and, as always, the wine. overall: i really like this. it's a rather sophisticated fruit scent. i'm not entirely convinced to buy a bottle, but i'll probably get another imp once i finish this one.

at first: the best way i can describe this is flowers that are drowning in water. on: this is beautiful. it just seems so "me". i stick to my "flowers drowning in water" description. i can't stop smelling myself. 1 hour later: yes, i'm in love. it's just so beautiful. i can't really say why, but it is. there's also something underneath it that i'm kind of uncomfortable with. it's funny because i'm often uncomfortable with the fact that my sign is pisces due to the way i tend to try and portray myself. this oil is making me deal with certain aspects of myself. 2 hours later: this really isn't changing much on me, which is amazing. it's just beyond beautiful. i love it. it's mostly very, very watery flowers and...i don't know. i can't explain it. however, everything seems to be swimming in gorgeous green-blue water. overall: this is just me. actually, it's the person i aspire to be. i love it. i'm so glad i have a bottle of it. it does wear off pretty quickly sometimes, but i have no problem having to reapply.
