at first: ...a bit of citrus and some sort of alcohol? i'm not sure. on: really pretty. a bit soapy, but i'm hoping that wears off. half an hour later: this the same sharp, soapy scent, but lighter. however, i like it. weird. 6 hours later: it's sweeter, but very herbal-smelling, too. nice. overall: i'm not sure how well this "works", but the scent is nice enough. i'll have to use it for an actual reason before judging it. however, i wouldn't repurchase on the smell alone.

at first: this was an extra oil that was thrown in and i never would have chosen it for myself. it is pretty interesting. it's hard to pick out the individual notes, but i can definitely see how this would be the scent during a ceremony of some sort. on: this is weird. definitely like something burning. i can smell the leather, which always makes me feel uncomfortable (just look at my review of de sade.), but the incense and pipe smoke are there, too. this is masculine, and not in a good way. 8 minutes later: well, apparently this is going on the isabel (the cat) list of approved scents. she just started licking my arm. what a weirdo. 1.5 hours later: this has really sweetened on my skin. it's very nice. 3.5 hour later: apparently, isabel knows something because this turned into something pretty close to o on me. weird. i can't see anything that they have in common. overall: nothing to interesting to report. i don't like the scent at first, an, aside form the o stage, it isn't very interesting on me. this is one for the swap pile.

at first: at first, i smell the buttercream and the thick sweetness of the toffee and caramel. after that, the chocolate rounds out the scent. disgustingly sweet, but in a good way. i want to lick my wrist. 1 hour later: still delicious. however, it's mostly buttercream, with a touch of nuttiness. 2 hours later: much darker. i think it may be some chocolate coming through. this is definitely not a celebratory sweet; it's more of a i'm-surrounded-by-too-many-overly-rich-desserts kind of sweet. i still like it, though. 3 hours later: i think this oil may be the reason i am absolutely starving. it's still dark, but the buttercream is still the most prevalent scent. now,the scent seems fuller and more stable, which i think is due to a bit of nuttiness coming through. 7 hours later: still going strong. i catch whiffs of it every now and then, and it's lovely. however, i just ate lunch a few hours ago, and now i'm starving again. overall: this lasted...and lasted. amazing. it's incredibly foody, but nice. i didn't get any of the coffee note that some folks mentioned, which is fabulous, since i hate the smell of coffee. this would want to be ready to eat because, well, it has made me feel like i was starving all day long. i wouldn't buy a big bottle of this, but i'll enjoy inulging in the imp from time to time.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)
grrrlennyl replied to Vanilla's topic in Recommendations
Hi, I'm new. I've never tried any BPAL yet, but have been reading at the forum to get ideas of samples. I'm a fan of Tramp and thanks to this thread, I've been able to come up with some samples I would like to try, Greed being one of them. But I would like some help with another Lush product called "Aromaco". Does anyone know of a BPAL that would be similar to it? thanks . hmmm...i'm not sure. however, i think the scent of aromaco is mostly patchouli, so...does anyone else have any suggestions? -
at first: beth included this as an extra. in the bottle, it's herbal and a bit sweet. on: definitely herbal, but floral, too. very pretty and not as matter-of-fact as i thought judgement might be. 1 hour later: this has become mostly floral and bit sweet. it's very nice. it's also a very stable and strong scent. 2 hours later: this has faded down to a slightly biting, herby floral. it's subtle, but still very nice. 3 hours later: still going strong. sweeter now, but still great. oh, and it passed the isabel the cat lick test. overall: nice, but not incredibly interesting. i'll be keeping my imp, but not getting another.

at first: leather, but with a pinch of sweetness and a bit of spice. very dark, very interesting. on: hmmm...sweet and leathery. very interesting. i like the leather in this one a lot more than in de sade. 1 hour later: even sweeter, with the leather making the scent interesting. this is wonderful. 2 hours later: wow. this is still really strong. i really like this. overall: this lasted very well. it isn't the uncomfortable leather of de sade; it's a sexy kind of leather. i really like this one.

at first: um, ewww. this smells like the men's cologne counter at a department store. i don't have high hopes for this one. on: yup. men's department store cologne. this isn't going to be good. half an hour later: hmmm...much better. now, it smells like a simple, sweet floral, with something dark underneath. not bad. 5.5 hours later: this is almost gone. i just smell the tiniest hint of sweetness. overall: it didn't really impress me. the imp will be swapped.
-
at first: hmmm...interesting. i get hints of the lilac, the lime, and the musk. this is either going to be fabulous on me or be a nightmare. more to come... on: this is sharp, but floral. i think i'm smelling mostly lavender, but i could be mistaken. 1 hour later: this is so soft and gorgeous that it is unbelievable. it is nothing like the scent when it was wet. i think that i'm just smelling lilac and it is wonderful. 4.5 hours later: very soft and floral, and only a touch sweet, which is impressive. very nice. not masculine at all. overall: while this isn't a favorite, i do like it a lot. i won't be buying a bottle, but i'll definitely enjoy using up my imp.
-
at first: super-sweet coconut. like coconut that's been drenched in pineapple syrup. very interesting. on: fabulous. like a pina colada on a really humid day, but with something dark underneath. there's a bite to this, too; maybe a bit of lemon or maybe even orange. 1 hour later: a bit sweeter, but still coconut and pineapple. wonderful. i'm loving this. 7 hours later: much lighter, but still present. this one definitely has good staying powder, especially considering that i've been using a computer all day. the slight tang of what i am now calling lemon is still there, but it's still mostly coconut and pineapple. wonderful. overall: i love this one. it's unique for a perfume in general, but is even different from any of the other bpal oils i've tried. i'll definitely be getting a bottle of this once i run out.

at first: this is really, really heavy. it's an incredibly thick floral. i'm not sure if i'll end up liking this one. on: hmmm...dark and almost like men's cologne. however, it's very beautiful. i can't pick out any of the notes, but the overall effect is rather nice. 1.5 hours later: very heavy and perfume-y. this isn't very interesting on me. it's turned a tiny bit sweet, also. i'm still not able to pick out any of the individual notes. 2.5 hours later: unfortunately, my skin has turned this into a boring sweet floral scent. nothing interesting at all. 4.5 hours later: just sweetness. nothing else. overall: well, once again, my skin chemistry has turned a potentially interesting scent into something boring. this one will have to go.

at first: fabulous. i love black patchouli and this definitely smells like that. however, there's a sweetness, a floral bit, and some sharpness to it, too, which make it a wonderful blend. i hope this smells half as good on me as it does in the bottle. on: interesting. sharper than in the bottle. i'm not sure if i'm getting the black patchouli. hopefully, that will come out once it dries. 2 hours later: this has sweetened up on me. no surprise there. however, there is a bit of darkness to it, which i'm assuming the black patchouli. i hope it comes out more, though, since this isn't smelling very interesting on me so far. 3 hours later: it's definitely a bit darker, but i want more patchouli. like i feared, this isn't a very interesting scent on me. however, there is a wetness to it now that is making me hopeful. 4.5 hours later: this has turned into an almost-nutty sweetness on me. no fun. overall: definitely won't be keeping this one.

at first: another extra from beth that i never would have chosen for myself. very odd. woody, yet spicy, with an undercurrent of something that doesn't seem quite right. on: hmmm...this reminds me of an aftershave / cologne combination that my dad may have worn. it's comforting, with a hint of dressing-up-ness to it. .75 hours later: still really masculine. it's very woodsy, with a bit of spice. 1.5 hours later: i am so excited that this hasn't managed to go all sweet on me. it's actually getting sharper and starting to smell a bit like pine. now, it's not only reminding me of dad, but of xmas decorations as well. very interesting, comforting, and special-occasion-like. 2 hours: later this is so going to be my xmas-season scent. or, the scent for when i want to be in that kind of holiday mood. it smells like ornaments, taking the tree out of the box, and all sorts of other xmas decorations. 3 hours later: this has stayed pretty consistent over the past hour. i'm completely in love. this totally reminds me of my childhood. in fact, i'm watching the muppet movie right now. how ironic. overall: well, once i run out of my imp, i will simply have to get a 5ml. this is just fabulous.

at first: i wanted this oil because it's my year card. it has a light, refreshing scent. not quite as obviously herbal as some of the other tarot oils. on: this is very light and subdued. i detect a bit of fruit, something along the lines of a very tart, crisp apple. it's very nice. .75 hours later: this is going sweet on me, which isn't much of a surprise. it's a very full scent, with a floral bite to it. 1.5 hours later: this has changed once again on me. it's a strong floral, with a strong herbal edge and a bit of sweetness lingering in background. 2 hours later: this has morphed into a very heady herbal-floral blend. there's still a tinge of sweetness, but it has faded quite a bit. wonderful. 3 hours later: this is still a bit heady, but also has gotten some of its bite back. the sweetness in the background has turned into a dusty kind of powderiness. overall: this is lovely. not incredibly unique, but i have to respect any floral that doesn't turn sweet on my skin. also, i really want to learn more about tarot, but i haven't really had the chance to become familiar with the cards yet. i'll be keeping my imp to help me with my studies.

at first: definitely a cold, almost ice-cold, floral. lovely, though. can't wait to wear it. on: yes. a crisp, bitterly cold floral. lovely and interesting, and even a bit unsettling. half an hour later: this a bit biting, but still nice. and definitely still cold. i like this so far. 1 hour later: now, it's turned into a floral with something foreboding about it underneath. something icy and unwelcoming. 3.5 hours later: it's a bit sweeter now, but that happens to me a lot. however, i still wouldn't call it a sweet floral, since it still has planty of bite to it. overall: this lasted well on my skin and didn't go overly sweet on me either. it's a nice, crisp kind of floral, not a loving, embracing one. very different. i'll be using up my imp.
-
at first: a simple and balanced scent of fruit and flower. refreshing and interesting. on: this is going to be a favorite. i love pomegranate, and the rose gives it more of a base and more fullness. i hope this lasts. 1 hour later: this is much softer, more rosy, than when i first applied. the tartness and the brightness of the pomegranate aren't as pronouced, but it is still present. overall: this is just a fantastically beautiful and simple scent. it vascillates between the tartness and brightness of the pomegranate and the softness and warmth of the rose while wearing it. i'm so glad i have a 5ml of this, since it's definitely one i see myself going back to.
-
at first: this was an extra that was tossed in and it smells beautiful. definitely aquatic and a bit floral, but with a fruitiness (apple, perhaps?) to it. i can't wait to try it. on: this is so refreshing. light and watery. the flowers smell really fresh. this is going to be a great summer scent. 1 hour later: it smells mostly like a really watery fruit. it's also a bit sweet and a bit floral. 2 hours later: still a wonderful balance of floral, sweet, and fruity. there's something slightly salty there, too. 3 hours later: still about the same. however, a bit more of that salty scent is coming through. i'm not sure if i like it. overall: a nice scent, but not outstanding. i'll definitely use up my imp, but won't be getting another.

at first: lovely. sweet (from the honey) and a tiny bit spicy (from the carnation). i was worried about this one because i really don't like most honey scents, but i really like this one. on: again...lovely! it smells like flowers doused in honey. this is just beautiful. 1.5 hours later: this is so lovely and sweet. i can detect a bit of spicyness now (from the carnation, i assume), but i can still smell the honey the most. i usually don't like honey scents, so i'm really surprised at how much i like this one. 2 hours later: i am in love with this. it is lasting really well. it's still honey at first, but i get a bit of creaminess to it, which i'm assuming is the milk. after that, it's a wonderful floral underneath. unbelievably wonderful. 3 hours later: still amazing. a bit softer, and almost tending toward powdery, but still strong. overall: i love this one. i'll definitely be buying myself a 5ml once i use up my imp. it's just too beautiful.
-
at first: a very fruity scent. spicy and a bit orange-y to my nose. very interesting. on: this has an almost lemony edge to it. it's very herbal. it's really different and nice. 1 hour later: now, it's a bit more green, but with the herbal and fruity base still there. it's much lighter, but still nice. 3 hours later: a bit boring, unfortunately. overall: while this was nice, it just wasn't very interesting after it dried. i'll be swapping this one.
-
at first: lightly fruity and floral, but mostly watery. gorgeous. on: it's a bit sharper on, but still watery above all else. aptly named. i can smell the cucumber and a wonderful variety of flowers. this is going to be a favorite. 1 hour later: still gorgeous. i'm falling in love with this. now, there's a bit of something dark underneath the flowers and the cucumber. lovely. 2 hours later: still cucumber and floral mostly, with an undercurrent of darkness. i love this. 3 hour later: much lighter, but still gorgeous. this is fabulous. overall: a definitely favorite. watery and floral, with a hint of something dark underneath.
-
at first: i love lemon, and this definitely smells of lemon. however, there's a slightly not-so-nice smell of cleaning solution in there as well. on: yup. lemon pledge. ugh. goddess please let this change on me. 2 hours later: it's gone. completely. there's the slightest hint of lemon there, but only if i really strain to smell it. i'll probably kick myself for this later, but i'm reapplying a bit. overall: well, it disappeared again. needless to say, i'll be swapping this one.
-
at first: a very sultry floral, with a bit of sweetness underneath. this is gorgeous. on: mmm...i love this. definitely sultry, like flowers that have been sitting out in the sun all day. there is also a tinge of sweetness. another sexy scent. 1 hour later: wow, this is unreal. so beautiful and almost a bit on the soapy side. it's a very clean scent, not overpowering or biting or anything like that. 2.5 hours later: gorgeous. much sweeter, but the flowers are still very much present. overall: i really like this one, but not enough to buy a bottle. i'm also not sure if i'll repurchase it in imp form. however, i'll really enjoy using up the imp i have.
-
at first: a completely over-the-top, in-your-face floral. i like it. on: still a brilliant floral. almost blindingly so. this may be a bit too much of a floral for me. 2 hours later: well, i wore this to an interview, and it did make me feel pretty confident. now, it's turned sweet (such is my skin), but in an almost fruity way. it's very nice. 3 hours later: this is still sweet, but lovely. it's much softer than the initial floral, which is good. 4 hours later: it's much lighter and still sweet. i keep thinking it's about to get powdery, but it doesn't. overall: this is definitely a good one when i need to feel confident in myself. it's a good interview perfume, but i need to make sure i don't overdo it. i'm still not sure i'll be getting a bottle, but i'll probably try to always have an imp on hand.
-
at first: sweet, but a bit of something dark underneath. gorgeous and sexy. on: a beautiful, but unsettling, scent. i get an almost unnaturaly sweetness (i'm assuming it's the amber interacting with one of the other scents.) with an odd slightly-woody, slightly-floral scent surrounding it. i'm not sure about this one... 1 hour later: i like it. i'm still somewhat unsettled by it, but i do get a general sense of sexy debauchery, which is always a good thing. lovely, but dark. 2 hours later: this is still dark and a bit sweet. lovely. there's a bit of incense in the background. overall: i love this. it's dark and sexy. lovely. i'm not sure i'll end up getting a bottle, but i'll enjoy using up my imp.
-
at first: beth included this as an extra and it is clean and gorgeous. a little spicy from the carnation, which is softened by the rose and made lighter by the white tea. just too beautiful. on: hmmm...it's kind of hard to pick anything out. this is definitely a "gentle" scent. i can just grab a whiff of the rose, but that's about all. 2 hours later: this is gone. completely gone. i can't believe it. i'm going to slather a bunch on to see if that helps. 3 hours later: after dousing myself with some more, i'm getting more of the carnation and something that just smells really "clean" to me, which i'm assuming is the white tea. they both blend beautifully with the dustiness of the rose. i really hope this sticks around. 4 hours later: this is much warmer now. the rose and carnation seem to be one scent. it's lovely. 5 hours later: this is still a gentle scent, but it hasn't disappeared. i really like it. it's very simply and pure, but very beautiful. overall: well, i'm glad i have a big bottle of this, since i have to positively slather it on in order for it to last. however, it's definitely worth having to use that much because it's so beautiful.
-
at first: beth included this as an extra, and it sounds really interesting. it reminds me of what the beach smells like by the ocean. on: simply beautiful. it's very white: like white flowers, crisp apples, cucumbers, sugar...anything white. 1.25 hours later: this has gotten even brighter. it's more ocean-y now, which is good. very lovely and different from the other scents i've tried. 2 hours later: this is so interesting. it's more cucumbery now, which is very watery and refreshing. it also has a nice floral background. however, there's a bit of odd sourness there, too; something along the lines of a pickle-like smell. 3 hours later: the pickle scent has changed to a salty smell, like the salty smell of the ocean. underneath that smell is all floral. overall: this started out very nice, but i cannot deal with the pickle scent. it's too bad. off to the swap pile it goes.
