First whiff: Bleh. All I get from Mead Moon is honey. Straight honey. No spiciness. Not even terribly sweet. Definitely not an instant wow, but we'll age it to see what happens...

Great minds think alike! I was thining of doing the very same thing, coldandsleepy. (Although I have L'Inverno too, so....)

That's what I had figured. But it really does look like a pair of panties to me.

I have the blue Smut, and you got me wondering...and now that I've taken a close look, I think it's her underoos hooked around her ankles. Either that, or some BDSM thing. But that shows where my mind went when I got up close and personal.

Pruno I was frimped this (just in time, too, as I was THIS CLOSE to getting a bottle.) However, I must be one of those weird people that Pruno loves..because I have to admit.. I adore it. It's fizzy and fruity. Almost a cross between The Hamptons and Spiked Punch. Definitely will be after someone's bottle now.

Hex is one great big fir tree on my wrist! I'm rather glad the smokiness didn't come through. A keeper for when I feel woodsy.

Well, I learned one thing with GRR: not to put it in my diffuser. At first, I love the mintiness that I get from this, but soon turns into something that makes it incredibly difficult to breathe...and then I smell - BO?? I'm glad this doesn't happen when I wear GRR, which will have to be what I do with it. I sort of like breathing.

Frederic is a woodsy-patchouli on me with a hint of aquatics in there for good measure. (I know, quite a mix...) I think I'll age him to see what happens.

Yule.. I love the mingling of the berries and wood, which is all I can detect and that's all I need. I might have to hoard this, because I can see it being an awesome room scent as well!

It took me a while to warm up to Sugar Moon, as I neglected to check the note list before I put it on, and was expecting more sugar than what I found..something more like Sugar Skull. At first, I found it to be a bit manly, having not been able to pick out individual notes. Then the berries came into play and oh, my! This is a dark berry scent on me. I can hardly detect any sugar in Sugar Moon, yet it is yummy.

Oh the bitterness in Lunar Eclipse! I was hoping for more musky-curranty-lavendar. I think I might age this one, just to see if it changes any.

Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge Of all the Novel Ideas scents, this is the one that scared me the most. Cream hardly ever works out on me. That said, Vulva wasn't that bad. It was sweet. I could have sworn there was vanilla in it, and was the closest I ever got to vanilla actually working on my skin without becoming too much of a deodorizer, but I'm not sure what to attribute that soft sweetness to. It wasn't floral in any way, but rather a foodie. I'm undecided on Vulva. It's the closest I've come to actually liking a cream, so that's a good sign.

Love's Philosophy First impression: car fresheners. You know, those little tree things that you can hang from the rear view mirror? I came across one that smelled something like Love's Philosophy - maybe it was supposed to be vanilla scented? Either way, that's what LP reminded me of. Sorry. Pass.

Two, Five, Seven ...er...are you SURE there are roses in this? Because that is not at all what I'm getting from this imp. In fact, I'm not getting florals at all. This is more of a tangy fruit than anything floral. Weird?

Oh, there are a bunch I haven't seen in your album. THANK YOU! (I wish my Mistletoe was the photo, not the parchment label..it's basic, but pretty.)

I didn't get the bubblegum from Jailbait like I do from Glitter or Xanthe. Instead I get the sweetness of cherry lollipops, which is predominant for the first hour or so, then fades to a softer, more subtle scent. If I sniff real hard at my arm, I can pick out the candy again, but just passing by, it's soft.

A Farewell to False Love...begins with overpowering lavender, which doesn't last very long. It fades quickly to a soft floral. I was almost hoping the lavender would keep up in Farewell so I could use it as a bedtime scent (and HOARD), but it's just as lovely without.

Valentine of Rome..at first goes on a bit bitter, almost woodsy. (Weird.) Eventually it calms down to a soft, sweet scent with a hint of spiciness or incense in the background. (It's incredibly faint on my skin...)

Apple blossom, white rose, lemon balm, and champagne grape. La Vita Nuova...begins as a sharp, tangy scent. I trust this is all lemon's doing. Thankfully, after a while, it fades to a juicy floral which could use some throw. My skin sucks this one dry.

Harikata...is all honey. Sadly. I don't do honey well. It's sweet, is all. I was hoping there'd be a bit more ginger or muskiness to it. The sweetness lasts for quite a while, but eventually fades to the gross thing that my skin does to honey. (There's no description for it.)

Earth Rat: HOLY MELONS BATMAN! Where's the Dragon's Blood? Pine? Citrus?? Alas, this is all melon. Although it's not too horrific for me to wear, I think it might spend it's days as a funky room scent.

The Flower Song: woo! Pomegranate, Pomegranate, POMEGRANATE! I'm considering back-ups of this one. Sweet Pomegranate, with very little of anything else. It's almost exactly like Fruit of Paradise on me...except that I can actually wear this one on my skin and have it turn out lovely. (FoP is strictly a hair thing.)

Ebisu Making Love As Two Octopuses Look On
steelxrose replied to phantasmmysteria's topic in Lupercalia
Ebisu Making Love As Two Octopuses Look On was a real surprise for me. This one didn't even register on my "hey, I'd like to try it" list, except that I got all the Novel Ideas scents for no particular reason. After first sniff: instant love. I adore nectarines, and that is exactly what I get from it. For the first few hours after applying, I get the nectarines as well. Only after a few hours does it fade to musk, which I have no problem with at all either. Bottle worthy? I think so! -
On me, Chimera, Priala and Bengal were bitter and...well.. gross. For me, Inferno is almondy-cinnamon. Uranus was cinnamon straight-up. And Wrath is Dragon's Bloody, with just the hint of cinnamon. (But I love Dragon's Blood too, so it works well. ) As for SSV - I'm not sure if I've tried Cassia yet. *goes to search* Okay, according to the main site search, I haven't. (Although I may have come across it in an LE and not have noticed..? ) I've passed over Phantom Calliope for the patchouli, which is almost always hippy-ish on me - and once or twice has managed to give me headaches. I like the sounds of that. Also, as noted above, I haven't consciously tried anything with cassia in it..so I may have to try that too. Patchouli dirty? Because I think that may be the way it turns out on me too. *sigh* I think I've been doomed to be unable to wear Beths' blood scents. Thanks for the rec! Dragon's Blood + cinnamon =

The Hanging Gardens, with so many fruit notes should be an immediate "YES!" But fig and pear sometimes are funky on my skin. That said, it goes on uber sweet. Thank goodness it dries down after some time to a tangy-sweet-fruity blend. Above the sweet-tang is the undeniable scent of gardenia. I think this one might work best when blended with something else, or not have so much on my skin. It's throw is amazing.
