This doesn't smell like candy corn at all to me, but it is a candyish scent. It's also slightly spicy, slightly creamy, and completely delicious. It is an understated scent for something so foody, and its lasting power is about average for me. I really like this one a lot, and I'm happy I was able to swap for two bottles. I'll definitely keep at least one of them.

Chrysanthemum Moon is a beautiful, sweet, smoky scent. I smell a hint of spice and the barest trace of the actual flower, which is fine with me! It's long lasting, has good throw, and is sexy without being over the top. I could stand a little more ginger, but that's my own personal bias speaking. This is a really lovely blend, and I'm so glad to have it!

I like foody scents, but this one may be too strong even for me! At the very least, I'd have to be in just the right mood to wear it. It is a very sweet, rich, honeyed cake, and I think I smell just a hint of molasses too. No spiciness that others have detected, which is a shame, as I think spice would improve it. When I want to smell like cake, I reach for Beaver Moon, so I really don't see a need for this one and will probably swap away my imp. That said, it's a pleasant aroma, and it's nice to have a super foody GC scent, just in case!

F5, in the bottle, reminds me a bit of men's cologne. It's sharp and bracing, very citrussy. Wet on my skin, the mint comes out and the whole blend sweetens considerably. I like this stage the best. Refreshing, indeed! It fades into a sort of unisex fresh cologne smell. It's very well done, and I probably would have used it a lot over the summer if I'd had it then. I'm very glad to have a bottle, but also very glad that I didn't give in to my hoarding instincts and order more than one.

Athens is a beautiful honey scent! It opens up with a big blast of very realistic red wine, then out comes the most gorgeous, deep, sweet honey. I don't get any florals at all, which is just fine with me. I'm not exactly sure what myrrh smells like, but if that's what is lending this blend its depth, then I'm all for it. I love Athens, and will eventually add a big bottle to my collection.

Funny, I don't get the Underpants similarity at all...to me, this is a less gingery, more musky, and equally delicious version of Shub, and I LOVE it. Of course, I'd never spend over $100 for a bottle of BPAL, no matter how wonderful it smells, so it looks like I will never own this one, but it was fabulous to try it out, if only once. Throw was pronounced at first, but receded rather quickly to a sweetly musky skin scent. Mmmm... Thanks to GypsyRoseRed for the sniffie circle!

From the lovely GypsyRoseRed's Convergence sniffie circle! This scent is so very sexy. It is sweet, smoky, resinous, and a teeny bit spicy. As others have mentioned, it is much more feminine than Doc Buzzard, and it does seem to resemble the Snake Oil family of scents (less sweet and powdery, though). I really love it and would definitely seek out a bottle if it were to ever be made available again. Thanks for the chance to sniff this, GRR and circle members!

I feel honored to be able to sample this wonderful scent due to a sniffie circle started by the lovely GypsyRoseRed. Wet on my skin, it smells like soda pop...evil soda pop (this is a good thing--kind of like Shub is evil gingerbread. ) Dry, it becomes softer, although there is something else in it that lends a hint of sharpness. The scent is deep and could be considered masculine, although I would certainly wear it regularly if it were mine to wear! I'd love to try it on my husband, but I'll be good and send it on to the next circle participant. Overall, a very well-done, very deep and sexy scent. Love!

I feel so fortunate to have an imp of this...it's lovely! A little bit fruity, a little bit green, a little bit spicy. Throw and lasting power are not that strong, but this is an oil that was released a couple of years ago, so maybe that's why. Or maybe it's just one of those oils that my skin chemistry just eats up, like Underpants. If I had a bottle, I'd just keep reapplying, but since I only have an imp, I'll have to think about whether to hang on to it. But if it ever makes a reappearance, I'd totally buy it!

I love BPAL amber scents, and this is no exception. It's a gorgeous, deep, happy blend. It reminds me of Et Lux Fuit a bit, although it smells less powdery and not as sweet. Love it, and I'll definitely get a bottle if given the opportunity! ETA: Now I have the 2006 version, and it seems more powdery and has less of the gorgeous depth of last year's. I'm not sure if it just needs to age, so I'll put it away for awhile.

I was really wary of this blend, since it has only florals and vanilla. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, at least on my skin. But I always try any BPAL that comes my way at least once, and in this case, my habit paid off handsomely! I smell sweet, sugared violet at first, not soapy and only a teeny bit powdery. After an hour or two, it's mostly a deep, gorgeous vanilla with violet lurking in the background. I can't pick out the gardenia at all. I'll definitely hang onto my imp, and may get a bottle sometime in the future. Note: This is an imp I got in a swap, and it's probably aged quite a bit, although I couldn't make a good guess as to how long. So those of you who didn't like this at first might want to try putting it away and trying again after a while.

This scent really reminds me of Blood Moon, which I love! It's got the same spiciness and darkness. Unfortunately, my skin just eats this oil for breakfast, leaving me smelling like nothing at all. Underpants did this to me too. Why must the pretties hate me so?
-
Mmm...musky, cinnamony goodness. It's actually not spicy in a bang-you-over-the-head sort of way, just in a nice, warm and snuggly way. Must...find...bottle!

mmmm... Sweet, almondy, slightly floral, slightly spicy. This smells great! It stays subtle and close to my skin, but if I sniff my wrists, it's wonderful! This is one of the few florals that actually smells floral and not soapy or powdery on me. Yay! I'll definitely hang onto my imp, and may get a bottle if it keeps growing on me.

This is a nice fruity floral, and I think it would make a great scent for enabling people new to BPAL who are used to "regular perfumes." I might even wear it myself if the rose didn't turn soapy. Why, oh why, do roses hate me so?
-
I was hoping this would smell like fresh strawberries and bubbly champagne, but all I got was strawberry candy. It's a pleasant enough smell, but not really what I was looking for.

I think this is one of those scents that really depends a lot on skin chemistry. It's a lovely, complex floral in the decant I have, but there's something in it that is turning nasty on my skin. Someone else mentioned that the wood smelled cedary, so that may be it--I've yet to try a cedar blend that works for me. I don't smell any musk or amber, just florals and funky woodiness. Oh well, I'm sure it will work for someone else.

Gorgeous! This definitely reminds me of a garden at nighttime, as others before me have stated. I don't usually go for florals, but this is so smooth, serene, and beautiful, that I will definitely make an exception. It really smells more of the air at midnight, rather than any specific flowers. I will definitely keep my decant, and if I use it up and still feel this way about it, then it's going on the big bottle list for sure!

The most prominent note in this, to my nose and on my skin, is definitely lemongrass. I didn't smell any lavender at all. It didn't aid me in sleeping, nor did it do anything as far as dream interpretation. I do like lemongrass scents, but I'd feel kind of funny wearing a Somnium blend as a regular perfume, so this one will be swapped. I'll stick with Somnus for sleepytime.

This is a really nice, refreshing minty herbal scent. I'm kind of sad I waited this long to test my imp, because it would have been a perfect summer scent and it's already September! I think it would be really nice made into a body mist for the hot weather. Maybe next summer! Oh, and I can't smell the lavender, which makes me extremely happy.
-
Oh, this is so pretty and girly! I does have a hint of vanilla and perhaps amber, but beyond that, I'm not quite sure. It's subtle and stays close to the skin, so it would be great for those days when the really foody and spicy blend would be just too much. I love it!
-
This is a soft honeyed floral on my skin. I'd prefer a bit more honey and less floral. And where are the spices everyone was talking about? Hmph. I can see how people think this is pretty, but it's just not for me.
-
From the description, I thought I'd love this, but that is sadly not the case. This scent is very strong and sweet. I would classify the sweetness as syrupy rather than foody. I do like the extreme drydown (when it's almost gone but leaves a hint of sweetness), but for the first few hours, it's just too much. My imp will be finding a new home.
-
Mmmm, spicy and delicious, boozy and slightly sweet. I love this! It doesn't last long on me, but it's worth reapplying. I have a few spicy scents coming to me already, but this is definitely one I'd eventually like a bottle of. It would smell great on my husband too!

General citrus recommendations - and discussion of all things orange
maijasu replied to UltraViolet's topic in Recommendations
Megaera was pure orange candy on me. Also, Kunstkammer (LE) was like spicy orange gumdrops to me. Hope that helps some!
