Kind of a woody vanilla.......( I know I'm not the most sophisticated reviewer and I'm still learning to sniff out different notes...) I don't know how balsam or sassafras smells ( I have yet to open my can of rootbeer I bought for comparing the scent, because I read it smells like sassafras ) . It's like nothing I've smelled before, but I really like it! The vanilla makes it sort of familiar.......but it's still different......I let the husband have a sniff and he liked it too, so I might put some on him next time. I can imagine it smelling *very* good on him.

Yes vanilla. Such a lovely, sweet, comfort scent..... At first there's this faint smell of floral perfume.....but it's *very* faint and after that it's all creamy vanilla. Very light, very every day, very good!

CT II : DXLIX Thought I'd review this one just before my CT3's arrive This is a red fruit/red musk blend......I can't pick out any of the fruits, it's like a well blended cocktail of red fruits. Underneath the fruits I can smell a nice warm musky scent and I think it's red musk, because well.....it has the same smell as the ones I *know* have red musk in them. A sexy grown-up-but-still-girly type of blend, with average throw and lots of staying power!

Yeah I got that postcard too.....and from what I understand, Snake Oil is the only GC scent that got the Carnaval Noiresque label......it *is* lovely isn't it? eta: LOL ! I lost my post there for a second and then figured it must've been moved here......and it was......

This is very well blended.....I can smell the apple, the rose and the lemon all at once, making this a very fresh, fruity rose scent. And if florals are you this would be very nice indeed. Personally, I'd have to be in the mood for this and I doubt I will be very often....since I'm not a floral kinda girl.

A light floral aquatic.......a little chilly when wet.....a little salty in the dry-down....I don't normally care that much for florals, but they are very light in this blend and the aquatics and muskiness are taking it to my kind of level. Aquatic scents are very calming to me.....so I see this being a nice evening, unwind type of blend, for when I'm in a florally kind of mood.

This reminds me a lot of Pink Phoenix.....only less innocent and silly. It's like sexy strawberry candy. Red musk and I get along just fine, thank you very much.......

I seem to have all hits with my first lab order! This one I love too! The dragon's blood gives just a little extra 'oomph' and fruitiness to the honey and vanilla. It's sweet, but not *too* sweet......girly with a twist I think I need a bottle of this when my imp runs out !

O sweet honey! That's pretty much it.......sweet honey with a little vanilla.....I don't get much amber though, but that's okay, I love this! eta: After a couple hours the amber decides to blend in with the rest of the notes *yay*! It's heavenly.....

Ah...the scent that has gotten me into Bpal-addiction unsniffed I was lured by it after people said it smelled like Lush's Snowcake soap.....and I luurrrrve my Snowcake! And, to my nose at least, it really does smell quite like Snowcake! It's all sweet honeyed almond milk on my skin. Doesn't change much from bottle to drydown, nice throw and stayin power too. And while I love this scent very much and I will never part with my bottle, I've gotten used to more complex Bpal scents by now.....so I don't think I'll wear it much. Although it will be nice to be able to keep smelling like Snowcake for a whole day after I showered with it.

Ow....this goes straight into my Bpal top5, no doubt! (got this as a sneak preview to my very first lab order, which includes an imp of Snake Oil) I love this spicey, vanilla goodness.....and thanks to GypsyRoseRed I got to try both new and aged Snake Oil side by side and I have to say I love both! So I guess I'll have to have a bottle to use right away and one to age *runs of to little corner again to continue sniffing self*

I was so sure I was going to love this.......but I don't There's a distinct anise smell to it....I guess it's the pepper, but it smells like some kind of licorice to my nose.... After a while it fades somewhat, but it still lingers in the background......then the tea and milk come out......unsweetened tea with milk....no vanilla, no honey, no ginger...... Did I mention I do *not* like the smell of anise? I try to avoid it with a mad determination. Was hoping for more sweetness......even the dryer sheets would've been nice....but my skin apparantly amps pepper and morphs it into anise.... Ah well.....I'll just send this rabbit hopping to someone who'll love it more than I can.

Ow.......My.......Heavens....... Spices, Amber, Musk, Plum......and the vanilla pops up in the drydown making it absolutely perfect! I love it and I'm gonna hoard the imp I have now and the bottle I have coming.....MINE!! *sniffs* *swoons*

Drink Me ... However, this bottle was not marked `poison,' so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice, (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast,) she very soon finished it off. This is a fun blend......I can detect a lot of notes from the description, but it's a nutty, buttery note that stays with me when it dries........and it's *so* not me! I'm glad I tried it though......I didn't really think it would work on me, but this is one of those scents I knew I'd be wondering about until I actually tried it on..... So now I have.....I might try it again in a week or so, to see if it's any different when I'm not just having my period.......but I don't think I'll suddenly like it.... Maybe if the cherry stays with me instead of the buttered toast....otherwise I'll be passing this one along. ETA: Lab description since we're on a new page. In the bottle it was all nice and chilly, green mint...... On my skin the mint goes away far too quickly and it turns into some kind of perfumey smell which I'm not sure I like all that much..... It still smells chilly though....like snow with some fresh grass underneath it, trying to come up.....but then there's that perfume smell..... I'll have to test it a couple of times more....when it's not so hot maybe and I'm in a different hormonal fase...... I really had high hopes for this one and I love the label (I'm a sucker for the pretty) so I don't want to put it up for adoption.....but I will if it refuses to work on me. eta: Okay, I guess it was indeed some kind of hormonal fluke......Because I've tried it a couple of times more and it stayed wonderfully minty and fresh an chilly and no sign of that dreadful perfumey smell.... So I will keep this for sure!

My birthmonth moon.....so I had to have it! I love musk and ginger, so I thought I would like this one......and I do! It's very fresh, soft floral.....very springtime and the musk grounds it perfectly. I'm glad I like this so much....although I would've kept it if I didn't......because well.....birthmonth and I'm dorky like that

Instant *swoon* the second I opened the imp and smelled this! I absolutely adore this blend and I never would've thought I would, based on the notes alone ( didn't think I'd like apples ). It starts with just fresh apples which get more herbally when it dries, but stays mostly apple........when completely dry it's this wonderfull apple/herb/amber blend I find it really calming......

Although I like this......it's mostly cassia, cassia, cassia........cassia.....and a little musk....... And if I sniff really, really close, I get just a tiny bit of tobacco and patchouli......but just a little...... Has a bit more throw than usual on me ( scents tend to stay close to my skin ) and it lasts longer too. It's a nice enough scent, just not for every day...

This is all strawberry bubblegum on me and I it ! After a while the strawberries tone down *just* a little to let more of the vanilla come through....... I'm sure I look very silly with my wrist stuck to my nose, eyed rolled back and a big smile on my face..........but I just can't help it..... And to me it seems it would compliment Lush's Rockstar soap very well.....and of course I have a big bar of that in the bathroom

Yes PINK indeed! Pink florals, pink candy, pink strawberries, pink.....everything! It's really lovely and girly and I'm glad I got to try an imp of it thanks to the wonderful Trish! I'm going to save this one for special occasions

Thanks to GypsyRoseRed who got this for me at Will Call. Okay......I think I'm weird......I don't get the grapefruit......I get musky melon As it dries more of the wood and the sugar and vanilla comes out. I only get the smallest hint of ginger. I'm really liking this moon, it's, imo, a nice, light, fruity, summery blend And of course......you gotta love that label!

See I'm Dutch, so no one around me gets it when I say I'm wearing Smut........ But the scent is great! It's potent stuff too First time I applied it I put on *way* too much and almost got drunk of the boozy note, which hung around for quite some time...... Then I learned that a little goes a long way with teh Smut and now it's just gorgeous, sexy, boozy, heavy, sugared musks And when it's almost gone ( after 8+ hours ) I still get some lovely, spicy vanilla....... So glad I got a bottle of this!

Aaaaah sweet foody goodness! It smells just like a carnaval midway with all the foods wafting in the air...... I get the cotton candy, cake( don't know what funnelcake is ) and something a little salty......absolute heaven! I have a bottle from the second time the carnaval rolled in so I'm curious to find out if it'll even get better with age..... That is....*if* the bottle will last me that long

Berries! At first I wasn't too sure about this one.....but it has won me over gradually and I'm so very glad I didn't get rid of it! On my skin it's first berries, but with a 'twist'....I guess that would be the sage. As It dries a very nice musk is added to the berries and I just love it! Only thing is....the berries fade relatively quickly so if I want them to hang around longer I'll have to reapply more often......but I'm just as happy with just the musk, so it depends on the mood

I was surprised to see musks listed in this.......I get *no* musk, while normally my skin is sure to let me know there is some..... I love this though! It's all tea and vanilla on me.....a very light, fresh, everyday kinda scent! eta: This has become my 'can't-decide-what-oil-to-use-but-have-to-leave-right-now-and-Smut-is-too-heavy'-scent, in no time flat!
