Hic habitat felicitas! The penis was a potent and popular symbol of good fortune, strength, power, and fertility in ancient Rome. Images of phalluses adorned Roman homes and shops, bringing the positive energy that the symbol represents into the lives of the inhabitants. Golden amber, golden musk, litsea cubeba, cedar, and saffron. At first sniff, my first thoughts were golden incense. I thought it might have been too incensey for me. Once on, Fascinum still smells like a rich golden incense, with a hint of sweetness. For a few minutes, something in it reminded me of Snow Angel (weird)! Also, there's one note that smells a bit out of place...kind of like...babies? Uh oh, I think my nose might be borked on that account. Maybe I should try this after a while of not having just washed my hands with Johnson's Baby Soap (don't ask). Will update with a second wearing, but for now, incense/resin lovers, this blend is for you!

The Queen of Sheba, half-demon, they said, on her father's side, witch woman, wise woman, and queen, who ruled Sheba when Sheba was the richest land there ever was, when its spices and its gems and scented woods were taken by boat and camel-back to the corners of the earth, who was worshipped even when she was alive, worshipped as a living goddess by the wisest of kings, stands on the sidewalk of Sunset Boulevard at 2:00 A.M. staring blankly out at traffic like a slutty plastic bride on a black-and-neon wedding cake. She stands as if she owns the sidewalk and the night that surrounds her. Honey, myrrh, lily of the valley, rose otto, fig leaf, almond, ambrette, red apple, and warm musk. Mmm, my first sniff of this was apple with a bit of a bite from the almond, I think. After a minute or two, the florals start to come out. They're sweet florals and the apple is still there but has faded into the background and I think I can smell myrrh and musk. I think the strongest note is the lily of the valley, but it really blends well with the rest of the notes. This isn't one of my typical scents, but it's nice. ETA: The drydown of this scent lasted ALL DAY on me. I think it's the longest lasting BPAL oil I've found so far!

This smells really, really familiar. It must smell like some product, but I am not sure which. It is very fresh but high-end/classy, and I would say unisex, if not leaning masculine.

Trachelophorus Giraffe v3 is a bit of an enigma to me. It was described to me as hard to pin down, having a green quality but also a warm sweetness. I definitely get both of those things here. Normally I am not a fan of scents that have any kind of "green" in the description, but this is actually pretty awesome. You can smell the green-ness, and also something that is kind of earthy and woodsy, and a sweet component that is reminiscent of Ecstasy of Infatuation to me. This is a very interesting blend, for sure!

A very creamy amber and vanilla! There's something else in the background which must be the spices, which rounds out the scent and keeps the vanilla from going plastic and the amber from going baby-powder. I didn't get much mandarin, if any, and only a hint of gardenia.

This smells like sweet strawberry cake on me! The throw is fairly faint, but quite delicious. Hasn't even gone plastic on me yet, which many vanilla-based scents do.

Enlightenment of the Courtesan Jigokudayu

I expected this to be more floral, but I think I agree with Lit Chick in that this scent is very "second skin." To me it's great, the perfect amount of sweetness, not too strong or too soft or too floral. The coconut didn't smell suntan lotion-y AT ALL. It's just beautiful, and I am glad I took a chance on buying a bottle unsniffed! -
I am wearing my Sugar Slathered Candy Apple for this Halloween, along with my Treat Inquisition shirt (the orange one from '07 I believe)!

VERY musky...this reminds me of old-fashioned perfume! I can see where it could be masculine, but I think it's more gender neutral, a sweet musk...almost a hint of amber as it dries down.
-
I am kind of surprised that this isn't as highly sought after as previous event-exclusive frimps. It is quite delicious, and I for one am happy to have bedbugs It smells like gingersnap cookies with a hint of orange. The throw is moderate and it lasts for a few hours, not bad in my book.

This has been on my "to try" list for a while...possibly since it came out years ago! This is a very subtle on me, close to the skin, I can see how this would be sensual. It isn't quite patchouli but has that kind of vibe, it's slightly woody-resiny. I am not getting anything very sweet at the moment, though I think it is starting to go that way the longer it stays on my skin. I think I could do with just a decant of this, but I have a bottle, will have to test more to see if it's worthy of staying.

A light, sweet white floral. Smells a lot like Gardenia to me, but it could be a relative...maybe something Hawaiian? I am liking this more than I thought it would, it doesn't have the sharp green-ness to it that v7 has.
-
Sweet red musk. I must amp red musk because it smells really similar to any other scent with red musk that I've worn, especially smut. I dunno if this will be a keeper yet, but I bet it will age nicely!

This is a lot spicier than the original. To my nose, this is strong cinnamon/nutmeg/clove spicy cocoa cookies. I may be imagining hints of coconut too, but I think they're in there, just buried underneath. Despite the spiciness, did not irritate my skin!

Voyeurs Among Cherry Blossoms and Jingo are my favorites! I think Cherry Blossoms are in Hanami, too.
-
Lamia sounded so good...alas, it is almost all clove on me...maybe a bit of carnation too, but otherwise it's practically Clove SN.
-
The reviews are pretty spot on for Aphrodite. She is lush greenery and roses...the greenery was prominent at first, but now the roses are coming out to play...and there's a hint of some other flower as well. I may keep it just for the name, as I am not that big a fan of green scents, but I'll see...

Zesty lemon undertone...reddish color...maybe it's actually Coral Snake?

Decant: DCCXCVII: Wet, this is a dead ringer for root beer! Or maybe more sassafrass than root beer. When it dries down, it gets fizzy and citrussy, very clean smelling. Previously reviewed by Valerie.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v2

O time! My bottles, straight from the lab: CCXCVII: Wet, it smells like O + Leo on me! Kind of orangey and sweet, but with a hint of something else well-blended. However, after it dries a bit, the orangeyness fades away, leaving mostly just O. O usually turns kinda weird on me, so I don't know if I am going to keep it. I will call this one "Le-O" CCCXXXIV: In this blend, O takes a backseat to lime. Or should I say LIME. Hint of greenness and sugariness, like a mojito without the alcohol. This will be/would be great for summer, if I decide to keep it). I dub this one "Mojit-O" (okay, sorry about the bad puns! I promise not to do any more) Acquired from a sales post, half full: CCXVI: Was described as light citrus- mango and peachy O (kinda like a tropical breeze rather than in-your-face pina colada). Wet, it smells almost exactly like Tiki Queen on me. I get that same Sweet tarts smell (although I think I can smell a hint of O underneath, but I may just be imagining it. Once it dries down, some kind of tropical floral comes out...gardenia + maybe something else? It smells lovely, fruity and exotic, but I am not a gardenia fan so I don't think I will keep this one. -
Wow, this blend reminds me of summer! It's mostly coconut and wood, like wearing sunblock on my wooden back porch...the coconut is really sun tan lotion-y on me and very prominent, and the wood is more in the background. I think I am also getting hints of somehting resin-y, the frankincense I guess.

Whee, thanks to a kind soul, I am trying Bat of Virtue! This is a rose-y berry, not as sweet as I thought it would be. The rose adds an air of perfumeyness, which keeps the berries from getting too I-just-spilled-smoothie-on-my-arm. The throw is pretty light, but I applied it light, so I'm not taking that as any indication.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self Similarity v4
DangerInRed replied to marared's topic in Limited Editions
Wow, I think I forgot to keep reviewing my CTV's after I got through most of the Dorians, and that won't do! I think I'll start with a mysety Snake Oil CT that I got in a swap. The letters have mostly rubbed off, but I can make out CXXsomething. The oil was described to me as Snake Oil and Plum, and I think it's pretty spot on. I wasn't sure if this was going to be too perfumey for me, at it has a very perfume-y vibe to it, almost reminiscent of Glowing Vulva's perfumeyness. I wonder if there's any similar notes in this, as it smells like a creamy, vanilla plum. And not the vanilla that usually goes plastic on my either...okay, maybe a tiny bit plastic if I sniff hard, but it's barely detectable! This is sweet plummy goodness. -
Any of the shungas, really! But also bakeneko if you can find it, it's one of my favorites.

Mmm, cherry blossoms! I was hoping that this would not induce a headache, and thankfully, it did not aggravate my already bad allergies at all! This is cherry blossoms but sweeter, and on drydown, it's mostly vanilla musk with only a hint of cherry blossoms. I love both the wet and the drydown of this perfume, and may need to look into getting a partial or a bottle after my decant runs out!
