Possibly Jazz Funeral? My memories of it are sweet, green, and spicy, but it does have a dirt note.. Description: Bittersweet bay rum, bourbon, and a host of funeral flowers with a touch of graveyard dirt, magnolia and Spanish Moss.

Sweet, sweet strawberry, with a touch of mint. I love sweet candy blends, and this strawberry doesn't have that plastic death note that so many have. I may have to get a big bottle..
-
Hm. Really reminds me of Cool Water perfume.. Not a bad thing, necessarily. Just unexpected. A very "perfumey" aquatic floral. Like zankuko said, very "office appropriate"

Half-Elf + Mage is a slightly dryer version of Mage.. If anything, it makes Mage smell more like what I had expected from it's scent notes. Perhaps a bit more sophisticated the Mage alone, and better than the woody dryness of Half-elf. Not bad, but I adore Mage, and really don't want it to be a "drier" sort of scent. Eta - because "drier" vs "dryer"..

Amazing stuff, this. Dragon's blood and frankincense, with other resins in the background, and a hint of smokiness. Rich, mellow and sweet, never high pitched or overwhelming, the way so many resin based scents can be on my skin (well - frankincense is always a win, lol!). As a previous review noted, it is reminiscent of fall scents as well. Love it!

From a lab fresh frimp;a very dry, wood/old dead leaf scent. Not surprising, as that is how sandalwood usually reads on my skin. No white tea or beeswax showing, and 20 mins on it is almost gone. I will try layering good or evil, and see what happens. Or maybe mage...

Sweet. Very, very, sweet. Cloyingly sweet. Sweet floral laundry.. something. Fabric softener? It isn't soapy enough to be detergent. I generally quite like florals, including many of the "love it or hate it" florals such as rose and lilac, but this is a bit much. And it is not only headily sweet, it is persistent; 45 mins after application and two wrist washings later, it's still here. Given that my skin eats oils like bloodlust, whip, and perversion for a light snack, that says something about the heft of this scent. Swaps/frimps for this one.

Sweet, slightly spicy, woodsy cuddly loveliness. Something about it hits my nose as almost buttery. As it dries on my skin it mellows, becoming even more cuddly. I'm getting a hint of berries, or red fruit.. might be the "burgandy pitch incense". A fall/winter/spring scent to me, for wearing in cooler weather. It does fade faster than normal for me, though.

This had a sweet, cinnamon spicy woodiness in the imp, that it retained wet on my skin. As it dried, it was as if I were wearing a faintly cinnamon scented bug repellant over a super sweet, heavy perfume. It almost reminds me of Poison, minus most of the grape. And good lord, it has staying power Eta - autocorrect hates me.

Retesting my decants from the Pickman's Gallery 2013 (Lilith's drawings).. Sweet green grass and light floral's in the decant - the "feel" of it reminded me of Happy Baby! On, it was floral grassiness, with a hint of cologne.. As it dried, it became a traditional "perfume" scent. Several hours later, it is now a very faint, "fresh" scent; depending on how much I move (body heat increasing/decreasing) I get wafts of grass, or grassy floral, or fresh "perfume".. Interesting Spring scent, but I'm glad I didn't get a big bottle during the release, as it would not be used. ETA - Because I apparently cannot complete all my sentences..

Lemon sugar and lavender buds. Got this during the original release, wore it a few times and forgot about it.. tried it again today, and OMGosh - this is (still) awesome. A simple scent by description, it has unexpected complexity. It starts out as a basic sweet lemon/lavender, but as it mellows it has more depth, less astringency, and lasts for hours on my skin. Happy Baby for teh win!

Hmm. It was a lovely patchouli coconut in the imp and wet on my skin... But within twenty minutes of application, it was sweet pencil shavings. Meh.

Retested before deciding on an order of 2013's BBM.. and ohy goodness. Old lady perfume to the max! Heavy, cloying, and gave me an almost instant headache I love orchid, but this combination of notes isn't playing nicely. I seem to be getting effects similar to those experianced by symphonyinsilence. I will be putting this one in the swaps section, definitely not going to be buying this years edition!

From the first sniff, this has struck me as a more delicate Kabuki variant, due to the licorice and fruit combination. It has the same "nose feel", but isn't as bold and in your face as Kabuki. The longer it has been on my skin, the more apt that comparison has become. This isn't a problem, as I love Kabuki, and the lack of throw and comparative delicacy is much more work appropriate. After 10 mins of wear (on wrists - mileage may vary in cleavage, etc), it has faded to a delicate, sweet licorice/patchouli blend, lightened and brightened by the other notes. Very little throw, less than my norm - which isn't much! It hasn't had any perceptible changes between 10 minutes and an hour; still very much a close to the skin scent, but I keep finding my wrists next to my nose, lol. Hmm. Maybe I should convince DH that I need a big bottle of this one too... (decant by Ralenth)

The first five minuets or so are.. different. Very green and peppery (presumably the pine and petitgrain) with an underlying sweetness, intriguing but not extraordinarily "wearable". However, after about five minutes to settle, it smells of real strawberries, and greenery, and amazingness. This is wonderful! This is the first BPAL strawberry or strawberry-like scent that hasn't ended up smelling of 80's plastic strawberry shortcake dolls within seconds of application. I have acquired several strawberry scents in an attempt to find one that worked.. I think I can destash without fear now Sadly, it fades fast, but that isn't unusual for me. This has turned out far better than I would have expected from the scent notes; definitely a big bottle!

Umm. Jean Nate. And it laasstttss. For the first 10 mins after application I could pick out the sandalwood, but after that point all the notes blended together and became Jean Nate. Nothing wrong with that, if you like it - but I don't. After about seven hours, it was a delicate, haunting waft of amazing; but so not worth the 6hrs and 45 mins of Jean Nate. Not for me *edited cuz my phone decided to post w/out me*

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - don't know if imp was lab fresh or eBay lot, so imp age/freshness is unknown) I tested this without checking the scent notes... In the imp: Glasgow is floral, yet clean. It reminds me of high summer back home in Southeast Alaska (which, ironically, is similar in climate to much of Scotland). Wet: On my skin, it is a bit richer, but in no way cloying. I am getting a bit of something that I would *swear* is the Sitka rose (a wild five petaled rose that grows all over back home). Yup - I want to slather this on and wander around in a scent induced haze of treasured childhood memories Dry(ing): after a few mins (5 or so), I'm picking up a hint of fruit... Berry, perhaps? Berry, rose, and something that reminds me of a heather scented candle I had as a kid, living in Sitka. I took that candle everywhere, including to school, lol. Dry: Yes, it's official - I'm in love. I will have to reapply often, as this fades after an hour; but it is *so* worth it. This is a beautiful amalgam of rose, berries and heather, and it reminds me of a very happy time in my life as well. Double win! Current thoughts: I read the scent notes for this, and I was spot on in my estimation of the scent. Well, sort of. No *actual* rose, but I think "rosy" in the scent notes is close enough This is still a scent that I love, although I have so many imps and bottles now that it has fallen out of use. I need to correct that...

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - don't know if imp was lab fresh or eBay lot, so imp age/freshness is unknown) In the Imp: Oohh... It's kinda piney Like a bit of Christmas tree limb that has sat outdoors for a month or two, and you are sniffing it on a cold gray evening in late winter. Wet: Same as the imp... But as it starts to dry, I'm smelling a bit of pine-sol. Hmm. Dry: As it dried, this changed from slightly spicy pine with a hint of pine-sol, to pine and something animal-like, to Cat Butt with a hint of pine. Sadly, my initial mental image of this scent seems to have been a bit - off. I had to go scrub it off, but on my way to the sink I passed my husband... Who informed me that whatever I was wearing smelled "fresh, breezy, like the outdoors - really awesome!" Current thoughts: I haven't retested, but reading the scent notes for this oil, I seem to have smelled all of them during my test, including (especially) the musk, lol. If this imp was Lab fresh when I tested it, it has aged 6&1/2 years since... Possibly worth a retest, if nothing else to see what the musk has done.

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - don't know if imp was lab fresh or eBay lot, so imp age/freshness is unknown) In the imp, this is a sharp, clear citrus - more like citrus oil than juice. It reminds me of biting into a kumquat, actually; sweet, sour, and slightly bitter. Wet, the scent softens a little, but doesn't change its overall character. Dry - sadly, this fades very quickly on my skin. Within 30 minutes, it had dried down to a soft, delicate citrus, although I do occasionally get a waft of it without having to stick my nose to my wrist. Overall, I think this will be amazing for hot weather, even if it needs to be reapplied regularly. Current thoughts (25 Jan 13): This is an amazing scent for hot weather, although I use it primarily for a early work morning pick-me-up (0500 - icky). My favorite part of AM's lifespan on my skin is the first 20 mins, with the vivid citrus oil impression it gives. I really should try a scent locket...

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - don't know if imp was lab fresh or ebay lot, so imp age/freshness is unknown) In the imp, I'm smelling rose and maybe lilac? must be the ylang ylang. Wet, it smells like rose with lemon peel, and a bit soapy. Rose is always a good note Note of Amazing Love on my skin, and never (never say never?) turns soapy. Hmm. Dry, it changed, and not for the better. At first it was very rosy with...something. Not a *bad* something, but an odd something. After about three hours, it smelled like dried, old, dusty roses. Not the nice sort that have been hung upside down in a dry place in order to preserve them; no, this smelled like roses that were left to desiccate in the dregs of their nasty florists water. Dry, dusty, and a bit rotten. DH says I smell "sour". I suppose that could be considered the "pathos" listed in the description, but apparently my skin doesn't like smelling of pathos. I think ylang ylang might be a Note of Doom for me.

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - imp was bought on eBay, so imp age/freshness is unknown) Sniffing the imp, this is expensive and sweet smelling - it actually reminds me of Dior's Poison. On my wrist, it still reminds me of grapes, but is mostly just sweet. After drying for about 20 minutes, it is softer, but still just - sweet. DH thinks he smells patchouli? Tried it on my MIL, and although she wasn't too impressed, it was a much richer, complex scent on her. In fact, it was almost spicy. Current thoughts: I haven't retested this, but I did re-read the scent notes; and grape is nowhere to be found, lol! It does have jasmine in it, which is generally a Note of Doom on my skin - nothing like amping blend of cat pee and something suspiciously like urinal cakes Other than the jasmine, this sounds like something I would adore, so I will likely dig it out of my imp storage boxes and retest soon.

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - imp was bought on eBay, so imp age/freshness is unknown) Anyhoo... Initial thoughts: Imp - dry, powdery cinnamon.. and spice cabinet? A warm, generically spicy/incensy scent. Freshly applied, it is still generic "spice", with a muddle of incense - a bit powdery, really. Two hours after application, it is vanilla and warm spice, a soft, sort of comforting scent. Eight hours later, it is gone. Current thoughts (24 Jan 13): OMG! I have a replacement for my beloved Antique Lace!! Well, the imps of Morocco that I currently own all serve that purpose, anyway. With that said, all of my Morocco is older; I don't know exact ages, but anywhere from 1 to possibly over 6 and 1/2 years old; my first major BPAL acquisition was an eBay find of over 80 imps, with no age info. Also - On the "Aging BPAL" thread (don't know how to link it, it is under BPAL Chatter), several people have mentioned that (particularly in 5mls) Morocco can be heavy on the cedar. I have not had the misfortune to encounter an imp such as that, but I don't know if a cedar heavy version would fill my Antique Lace desires, even aged. Overall, I find aged Morocco to be very similar to AL, but a bit warmer, presumably due to all the spices. I have no idea what fresh Morocco smells like, though!

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - imp was bought on eBay, so imp age/freshness is unknown) In the imp, I'm getting mostly tea tree and lemon; sharp and sweet with hints of eucalyptus. On wet, it is a milder tea tree, with lemon drops and a hint of mintyness (is that a word?) underneath. It actually feels cool on the skin, great for this time of year. After a few minutes, I'm getting coconut ? Dry (about 40 mins), the scent is varying by location; on the back of my hand, I can't smell it unless my nose is pressed to the application point, but its nice - spun sugar with a bit of.. maybe lemon balm?, and a hint of tea. On my wrist, it is stronger - there is still a hint of tea tree, but also a nice waft of lemon. I'd still swear there was coconut in there somewhere. Huh. All in all, a nice scent for summer here (hot, humid, hot...), but something that I would have to reapply every hour or two. Maybe in a scent locket?

Posting from my old (summer '06) BPAL review journal; I will update as I retest (circa July '06 - imp was bought on eBay, so imp age/freshness is unknown) Sniffies: in the imp, it is sweet. I smell carnation, fruit, and possibly musk? On wet, it is warm, sweet and foodie, but not overwhelming. Dry, 10 mins: the cider/treacle/amber/wine combination reads to my nose as a very rich cinnamon; not the oil, but the spice. It reminds me of a pastry with a cinnamon based filling. Nose to wrist, it loses the cinnamon baked good quality and is perfume-like and rich. Dry, 1 hr: already fading, but pleasant. Not an OMG must have more now! sort of scent, but very nice, especially for fall, I think. It has limited throw for me - my skin eats scent, so YMMV.
