    A Blade of Grass

I'm kicking myself for choosing another oil over this last night at willcall. It's definately fresh grass, warm, but not dry. Not wet either. Just a lovely backyard on a sunny day. I used to adore the old grass scent by Victoria's Secret (I'm blanking on the name, but I think it was called Spring) and have been hoping for something like this.

    Pirate Moon

I was never in love with Pirate Moon despite being one of the many gals at WC Will Call to croon "Pirate Moooon" into Puddin's ear. It was a bit too astringent for my taste at first, so I'm swapping it, but I decided to give it one last whiff before letting go for some trusted favorites. To me, it's mostly red musk and a little leather...slightly woody. Definitely a gentleman's scent. Once aged, it's very wearable, natural smelling, and classy. It's not my favorite of the men's scents, but I will give it props now. I just hope Frederic ages this well!

    The Torture Queen

I tried this on at will call and it reminded me of my beloved Bed of Nails. It was mega chrome and not much else, so I decided to buy it. In a way, that was very silly of me because I don't need more of the same. However, my purchased bottle was far different. Wet: White tea and a little chrome. Drydown: A little more chrome comes out, but it's not the POW! metal that I purchased it for. Dry: I'm surprised...I do like this even though it's a lot different from what I tried. It's a very soft, delicate metallic. Very wearable if you like metal scents (like me!) but don't want something too masculine. I don't smell any gardenia or ambergris, but I'm not trained to decet either of those notes. Mostly, it's chrome and a slightly floral/white tea sweetness. Me likey. It's a nice change, and I don't have very many "light and feminine" scents.

    The Cracked Bell

I just snagged a bottle from the lab's eBay sales. I was really surprised to see the older blue bottle and label. It's definately inscence and metalic, but there's something a little sweet about it too. It reminds me of Chintimani Dhuppa, but without the OMGPERFUME power that it smacks me with when wet. On my skin, it's on the verge of going plasticy, but thankfully it doesn't. The only problem is that I keep sniffing it and now my stomach is feeling a bit bothered. Some scents just do that to me. Overall, it's like Chintimani Dhuppa's brother...who may be a tranny. It's unisex.

    Frederic

I have mixed feelings about Frederic. He may be one of my favorite roles to sing, but I prefer Doc Constantine to this. I was worried that Frederic would be OMGCOLOGNE! but it's actually quite subtle. Not too much throw. Nothing headache-inducing. If anything, it's a little smoky on me and fairly soft. Definately a scent for a gentleman or for women who like more unisex blends. I'm not sure if I'm in love with it cause there's something almost rubbery about it (almost), but I definately don't hate it. This might be one of the few I keep simply for collection's sake.

    TKO

I've been sniffing TKO at the lab during most will calls lately and decided to finally buy my own bottle. As it always happens, mine smelled a bit different than the lab's, and not better. It's decent though. The lab version is much more sugary. Mine is BAM! LAVENDER! with a hint of sugary sweetness. I'm hoping that it just needs some aging. Still, I am finding that I'm sleeping through the night better since wearing it. I can't say it's helping me to fall asleep though. Very little helps me with that part.

    Harikata

I discovered Harikata at will call and sadly loved the lab's bottle more than my own. Wet, they both smelled the same, kinda like...bananas. Dry, the lab version was what I had always dreamed O would be. Warm, delicious honey and musk. O smells like yuck on me. Go figure. My bottle isn't quite what the lab had (that's Teggy's law), and tends to be more on a floral side, just ever so slightly. I agree that it's a slightly more elegant, grown up, classier version of O though. In the end, it seems to come down to skin chemisty. I completely forgot there was ginger in this.

    Lump of Coal

I have to agree with everyone else. This really is ooey-gooey-fudgey goodness. I tend to have issues with BPAL chocolates going funny on me or smelling like peanut butter, but this one really didn't. I may just have to attempt to track down a full bottle. I'm seriously contemplating putting up a rarity for a bottle, but I'm not sure yet. Maybe I should use up my imp first and see if it's really worth it.

    Mitzvah

I finally got to smell this and I'm glad I didn't try to go for a full bottle. It reminds me a bit of Anaconda, but really sweet. I mean yes, it's carmelized sugar, but still! I enjoy scents that smell like maple sugar, but I'm not sure that I'm in love with it. Definately happy to own half an imp.

    Carnations

Reaper and the Flowers has a gorgeous carnation note. I just wish I could wear the blend on my skin.

    Prospero

Prospero is the most "purple" scent I've ever experienced. Sadly, it's all wrong for me. I think it's the white musk. The powder quality kills it for me. It smells like a sugary grape candy. Dang! I really wanted "plum wine" or just "red wine with plum" and it's just not. Drat.

    El Dia de los Reyes

This is almost pure hot cocoa on me. No cinnamon (fine by me!) and very very leeeeeeetle coffee (also fine with me). I've had it on about 9 hours and I can still get a faint scent from my wrists. It doesn't quite stay true on my skin, but the drydown isn't too off. You know what just occurred to me? What would happen if I layered this with Spooky?

    Egg Nog

Alas....Egg Nog 2007 fails me. I tried this on at will-call and adored it. Super boozy and spiced when wet, then a bit creamier upon drydown. Sadly, it didn't last on my skin. What's even more sad is that it doesn't last at all...anywhere. I put it in my hair and in my scent locket today and nothin. I've never had a scent vanish from a locket. Curses...it's so nice too.

    Snow White

2007 Version Well apparently Snow White is different on everyone. I never thought it would work on me because florals and Teggy don't mix. I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on at will-call and it still smelled like flowers (not soap or sweet gook) upon drydown. Golly...I had to get me a bottle! I don't think of Snow White as being "chilly" at all. To me it's "soft and green" like flower stems. For such a light scent, I was very surprised that it lasted so long with decent throw. Heh, who knew?

    Gingerbread Poppet

I hate it when this happens... I really like Gingerbread Poppet 07 in the bottle and my scent locket. It's very well balanced between sweet and spicy. It's warm and wholesome. When I put it on my skin, it loses that "balance." First, my skin amps up the spice so much that it's almost like wearing cinnamon. Then it mellows out and almost smells like tea. Ah well, I guess this is one for lockets and hair.

    Scent for Halloween?

I went as "Fanservice" and I smell like delicious delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake!

    Beaver Moon 2007

Beaver Moon 07 isn't quiiiiiiite doing it for me. MB: Closet and Pumpkin Cheesecake are great on me, but Beaver Moon looses the creaminess and turns to all strawberry on me. That's a pity cause I really like cheesecake blends. That's okay though. I still like it and will probably keep it around for a while.

    Pumpkin V (2007)

Hrm...I got this in a swap thinking that I could swap it for another bottle of my beloved Pumpkin III, but now I'm starting to wonder. This is very much pumpkin and spicy ginger on me. The blood orange is in there too, but it's starting to fade into something spicier. It reminds me a lot of Pumpkin Queen, but spicer. Uh oh...I can't stop sniffing the back of my hand. This is a good thing. That means I like it. It's very feminine and I really enjoy spicy scents. Maybe I'll hang onto it after all. We'll see.
  19. In the end, it all comes down to what you like. Each blend ends up quite different from the original Snake Oil (except in my opinion Boomslang). I suggest that you read the reviews to get opinions, then search the swap forums for available imps or post an ISO. All else fails, take a risk, buy a bottle, and if you don't like it you can sell it back on the forums.

    Pumpkin III (2007)

I was on the fence with this one because I already own Pumpkin Chessecake, but now I'm really glad I bought this. It's just lovely! On my skin, it's very well balanced. The pomegranate popped only briefly, but I'm kinda glad it's gone. I wanted a more "warm creamy spicy" pumkin and less "fruity." I'm quite pleased. You know it's a good scent when I just start rambling nonsense. 8 hours later...I can still smell it on my wrists! Wow. I love all day scents.

    October

DAMMIT!!! I adore this scent. I've spent a lot of time experimenting with BPAL, trying to find that perfect forest scent. A lot of them are pine-y or smell like pencil shavings. Living in Los Angeles, we don't have "October." We have cold gravel and dirt. I grew up outside Chicago and went to college in Ithaca, NY; both cities that truly embrace the beauty of autumn leaves turning colors. October truly feels like maple leaves and it's not too astringent. Sometimes leaves can do that. This scent reminds me of home. It's soothing and makes me feel happy and refreshed. Sadly, once it dried on my skin, it disappeared. Looks like this will be a scent-locket and room-only scent.

    Sugar-Slathered Candied Apple

This one is pretty simple for me: It's a "safe" version of Creepy. The caramel note is exactly the same, but the apple is different. It's definately a red apple as opposed to the green apple in Creepy. It also has no coconut rum. Frankly, I prefer Creepy (I prefer green apples in general), but to those whom it didn't quiiiiite work on, give this a shot.

    Tempest

This was one of the first scents I ever tried. I didn't keep it, then ended up with it as a frimp not long ago. The best way for me to critique this is to compare it to Lightning. Let's do it SAT style! Tempest : Water :: Lightning : Air Really. It's wet ozone. If you liked Lightning and want something more aquatic, go for Tempest. Time's up. Pencil's down.

    Hexennacht (2005, 2016, 2019)

This is a wierd one. In my scent locket, it's very deep and musky. A good feral scent. I can't wear smut, so this might make a good replacement. The skin musk makes it a little iffy, but I can tolerate it in this blend. On my skin, I wasn't so sure because I had the strangest reaction. When I sniffed close to my wrist, I got pencil shavings, but when I just sat around, I kept getting whiffs of something kind of appley. How odd! I'm quite intrigued. Not intruiged enough to pay $100+ on ebay, but enough keep my imp and but a bottle if it's ever re-released.

    The Bloody Sword

This reminds me a bit of Loviator...kind of a soft, sweetened leather. It was sharper with more Dragons's Blood at first, but mellowed out fairly quickly. I wish I could smell more of the "fire and steel". I'd like some smoky metal in it. Ah well, that's just body chemistry. I like it enough to hang onto the imp.
