Just a quick note: I got word this morning that there's some spam going around from someone posing as PayPal asking people to update their personal information by July 13th or get bounced from the service. It's not real. Paypal should never contact you asking for personal information. Please protect yourselves.

Definately Lightning! For me it's a combo of air and water. Just perfect. There's also Thunder Moon out which is a little softer. But if you're looking for something more atmosphere-like, go for Lightning.

FRICKEN FINALLY! I've been searching for the perfect lightning scent and forgot to test this one for a while. I tested Thunder Moon, which is a bit softer, but Lightning...just wow. It's crisp and just a little aquatic without being sour or obvious. It reminded me of Bed of Nails, but when I wore them side by side, I could definately tell the difference. What I really like about it is that it's not too aquatic and I don't detect any florals. Plus it stayed true on my skin. To me, it actually smelled like air and THAT was what I was seeking. It's mysterious and empty. Kind of the way Schwarzer Mond felt like emptiness to me, but of a different kind. SM was like oblivion whereas Lightning is like a wide open sky. Okay, now i'm just rambling and wishing that I had put it on today. In addition: I compared this to Tempest and found it to be similar. However, Tempest is "water" where as Lightning is "air." So if you like one, try out the other as well.

I adore Rose Red as well, but I can't wear it on my skin cause it turns to soap. To make the most of it, I'll put some in an oil ring and put it on the lamp in my living room. To wear it on myself, I put it in a scent locket or I have it mixed with some cyclomethicone and spray it on my hair.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
Teggy replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
Finding that perfect "sexy" scent really is all about what makes you feel sexy. For me, the Snake Oil & Co. tend to work, but not for my sister. She wears lighter florals and fruits. Those don't make me think "sexy & sultry" at all. But seriously, douse me with Mme. Moriarty and I turn into a sex kitten. Give me the expected scents like Smut, Le Petit Mort, or O and I gag. Eww...so wrong on me. -
Yuuuuuuuuum. I almost this had a little more throw, but overall it smells just delicious. I'm just glad that it didn't do the "dry cake" that a lot of BPAL cake scents do on me. This went very right. It actually reminds me of Monsterbait: Closet without the blackberry. Oh I can't wait to wear it in my scent locket tomorrow. Please of please bring Beaver Moon back this year!

Our love is a bed of nails Love is good on a bed of nails I'll lay you down, and when all else fails I'll drive you like a hammer On a bed of nails. ~~ Alice Cooper Loooooove this! Sexy, masculine metal, without being too over the top like Villian. I feel like I can actually get away with wearing this one as a woman. I was really concerned that it would turn into woody-blah on me like MacBeth and Three Witches does, but it actually stayed true on my skin! I like it a little better in a scent locket, but I'm still quite happy with it.

I felt the urge to buy this simply on principal. I'm a bad luck woman. I have the stupidest luck in the world sometimes. Still, I wasn't sure based on the components. I tried it out at will call and found it was too my liking and decided to get some decants. This reminds me of something between Sugar Skull and Anaconda. It's no quite as "wow!" as Anaconda, but not as sickeningly sweet as Sugar Skull. It's happy medium, with a decent amount of throw. I don't expect it to last too long, but it's already been close to 3 hours. I guess we'll see.

My bottle of Tokyo Stomp smells different than the one I tried at will-call. At WC, it smelled like a candy cane on me (far more than Lick It), but this batch...I don't know WHAT it's supposed to be. It's still a yummy mint, but it's not as potent as I remember. I'm really not sure what to make of it. I wonder if it'll warm up and smell like coffee on me like the will call batch too? Much later: Mmm...the drydown is even better than the batch at WC. It's not coffee at all on me, it's pure vanilla cookie. Totally awesome. It reminds me of Magical Omaha's French Vanilla. I don't know why BPAL cookies smell funky and dry on me, yet this works really well. Definately a keeper.

Powdered, candied cherry. Thank goodness it's not that dark, medicinal cherry, but this also just isn't that "cherry pie" scent I dream of. I like that I can actually detect the powdered sugar cause I was thinking, "What in the world does powdered sugar smell like?" I'm not sure what it is I want Bloody Mary to be. I'll keep half a bottle, but I really don't crave any more than that.

Huh....for a scent designed for a "belle dame" this is rather masculine on me. I find it to be more on a musky/woody side. Then again, Juliet smelled like wintergreen life savers on me so go figure!

Grapefruit, red currant, dark musk, Roman chamomile, delphinium, and lavender. Wet, it's very fruity, kinda grapefruity. As it dries down, it changes dramatically. It becomes much classier. I think it might be the chamomile and lavender that does it. I was really surprised by how much it changed. Who knew the Cheshire Cat could be so....elegant?

It's like Eat Me...but not. I got a slight hint of rose and not much currant. Mostly dry cake. Not very potent either. I'll stick to Eat Me.

Very cedary, but a little soft. Manly...I don't think I would wear this on myself because I keep getting this slight anise-esque hint of a whiff. I hate anise. I'm not quite sure what it is. Maybe it would smell better on someone else.

A vital, bold scent, throbbing with sensuality. Essence of dragon’s blood resin, thickened with myrrh and cherry, with a trickle of clove. This is one dragon's blood scent that doesn't go pure DB on me. I get myrrh and cherry right of the bat, but it's getting a little Barbie (that means plastic and bubblegum) as it dries down. Darn.

Hmm...I do like this! It is mostly black coconut + snake oil. I wish it was a fresh coconut, but overall it's a nice, slightly warmer/softer twist on Snake Oil. It's almost a little more gender neutral. This will be great for those days when I can't decide what to wear.

Bah...not quite for my body chemistry. On me, it smells like the leather protectant spray I use on my shoes and purses. It's too harsh on me. With the right body chemistry, it could be dreamy.

Mmm...wow. It's a lunacy I actually LIKE! I got an imp of this in a swap today. This is very true to the simple cream + honey description. Honey doesn't normally work on me, but it does here! It's smoother and sweeter than Arcana's Sweet Milk SN. I can't stop sniffing myself! I really hope this year's Milk Moon is the same formula, because it's absolutely lovely.

In the bottle, EGM was very buttery-baked-goodness to me. When I read the reviews of the cinnamon scent, I figured "Oh great...I'm gonna hate this." Sure enough, the instant it touched my skin it went cinnamony which really annoyed me because I hate cinnamon and it's certainly not listed in the description. I remember trying it at will-call and it stayed spicy on me. But when I got my bottle today, the spiciness faded very quickly and now I can barely detect a hint of cherry if anything at all. How perplexing. I'm disappointed, but not in the way I expected to be.

What an enigmatic scent? When wet, the lavender is most potent, making it seem like a gentleman's cologne style scent. As it dries, it softened up to a fuzzy cocoa...something. I'm not really sure what that other element is. I think this could be wonderful with the right chemistry and personality. I'll hang onto my imp, but I don't think this one is going to warrant a full bottle.

I wish I had as good of a reaction to this as the rest of you. Darn florals! They just don't mix with me. When I first put it on (both tonight and when I tried it at will-call) it was a blast of skin musk which was more like sweat if anything. I get no vanilla either. Dang it! Upon drydown, it's mostly sweet florals with a hint of musk leftover. *sigh* I lose.

If a little of this be used according to the ceremonies prescribed, he who employs it will make all the world submissive to him. No kidding. This is a very dominating perfume. I really can't describe the notes, only what it evokes within me. It screams, "I am woman, hear me roar!" It's very classy and exotic, but it doesn't go "old lady" on me which I was worried it would do. There's something under it that's a bit floral though, and it's the find of floral (maybe the sandalwood?) that churns my stomach a little (violet does that). I think I can handle it though. This is definately a wear a nice dress/put on my designer shoes/seduce a man on a date kind of special occasion perfume. Not a "lean in and take a deep whiff" kind of scent, but more like a "catch a trail of throw in passing." Later...after a bit of wear, it really transformed into something completely different. It smelled like woody incense which was actually a really nice surprise. A few weeks later: Damn I love this upon drydown! So exotic and sexay!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
Teggy replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
I've never had reactions either until tonight. I was actually using TAL, not BPAL, Hand of Hermes which smells like it has a little cinnamon. I put some on my throat and forehead. On my throat nothing happened, but the spot on my forehead has been burning for about an hour now. Yikes! I guess the skin on my face is a bit more sensitive than other spots. I haven't had reactions on my forehead with other oils, but I guess I'll have to be a bit more concious of the spicey stuff. -
Anaconda reminded me a lot of Sugar Skull. I put it on and went, "Meh, it's just like Sugar Skull." It had that same pancake-smothered-in-maple-syrup essence so I just let it sit. It lasted for a long time and stayed quite potent. I was sniff-analyzing about an hour or so later and still thought it smelled like Sugar Skull, but nicer. I can't even describe how it's different because I sold my Sugar Skull, but I think it was just a hair more tame, making it more lickable and a little less....oversacrinated. I made up a new word! Yea me. Maybe it was a little more pancake and a little less syrup that made it better.

I tested a bunch of snake pit blends tonight and only some of them actually smelled like Snake Oil blended with something. Boomslang did, and it's exactly as these reviews are saying, "Cocoa covered Snake Oil." I'm soooo glad that it was cocoa and not chocolate. For some strange reason, chocolate goes funny on me. I tried this on right away and I thought it faded quickly. About an hour later, I put more on (read: slathered) and yuuuuum. I noticed that the cocoa faded and it turned into Snake Oil, but that's ok. I love Snake Oil anyway. I can't wait to find out how this smells aged! Be wary when you slather it on though, I noticed that it turned my wrist yellowish-brown. Nothing a bath couldn't fix, but you might want to check yourself before you go out.
