    Mlle. Lilith, Fortune Teller

ITB: Incense, cypress, honey myrtle, and pink musk. It's resinous while being slightly sweet as well. Wet: It's incense and artificially pink, which must be the pomegranate as that note doesn't sit well on my skin as often. As it starts to settle, I can pick up the orange blossom a bit more strongly. Dry: I get a bit more coconut along with orange blossom, pomegranate, honey myrtle (slight Honey Bucket here, but not enough to make me scrub my skin), musk, and incense.

    Carnaval Diabolique

Reviewed after aging nearly 2 years from the previous review. ITB: It's bright and clean - not what I was expecting. I can pick up the lemon flower, the heliotrope, and the apricot flower. Wet: It's really pretty, even on my skin. Lemon and apricot flower, tuberose (faint), and bright heliotrope. I get the impression of vanilla, but it isn't strong at all. Dry: The opium and mus now surround the apricot, lemon, and heliotrope, softening and adding some complexity. The lemon is still the most pronounced, but the vanilla gives everything a creamy tone, which is oddly relaxing.

    Antonino, The Carny Talker

ITB: The lavender and verbena are rather strong together, making the scent seem more masculine than I had anticipated. Wet: The lavender has softened some and is now followed by the musk, then the verbena. I can pick up a hint of vetiver, but it's nowhere as strong as it usually is on my skin. Dry: As it starts to dry, the lavender amps big time, followed by the verbena and vetiver. I can get what tony is saying about the pine, but it's like walking into a lavender field - almost overwhelming. Now that it is completely dry, the vetiver, verbena, fig, and coconut come out and mingle with the lavender. It reminds me of a man wearing a nice cologne but who is also smoking very expensive tobacco.

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

ITB: Beautiful fougere, tea, musk, and jasmine leaf. Wet: The fougere is a bit citrusy once on my skin. I can start picking up the vanilla, which is softening the tea and jasmine leaf ever so slightly. This would be a great unisex scent, although I'd fight my husband to wear this one myself. Dry: Delightful tea, thick musk, sweet and creamy vanilla bean, and a deliciously sophisticated fougere. *Swoon*.
  5. mymymai

    Melisande, The Puppet Mistress

ITB: I can pick up jasmine, mimosa, violet (very faint), and vanilla from the bottle. Wet: It's jasmine sambac - a sophisticated version, although it hints of baby oil as well. I can pick up a little of vanilla bean and a touch of musk. It's complex and strangely innocent at the same time. Dry: The jasmine sambac is just gorgeous once dried - compelling while not dominating, and when paired with the vanilla and musk, it brings out a strongly feminine quality to the overall scent.

    Ides of March 2012

ITB: Resinous and floral are my first impressions. It smells a tad like a fougere, but I can certainly pick up the benzoin, amber, lemon rind, and cardamom. Wet: Oh yes, that lemon rind is strong on my skin. It's followed by the rosemary, rosewood, bergamot, musk, amber, and cardamom. It's dark and alluring, while still being bright. It's certainly an interesting combination of notes. Dry: Delicious once dried. I'm adoring the resinous nature of the benzoin mixed with the amber, musk, light lemon, rosewood, and a touch of coriander. It's just lovely!
  7. mymymai

    Wolf Spider

ITB: It's rather astringent from the sage, tobacco, and bourbon, more so that I had anticipated with these notes. Wet: Chamomile stalks, sage, coconut, tobacco, and bourbon. It's still a bit bitter for my taste. Dry: It's less bitter now - coconut, tobacco, bourbon vanilla, tonka, and a touch of sage. It's so much nicer once dried.
  8. mymymai

    Sanctus

ITB: It's sweetly floral. The osmanthus and musk temper the lily of the valley, for which I'm thankful. Wet: It reminds me of a designer perfume a little. If you crossed Burberry Brit with Sugar's Fresh Lemon, you would have this scent. It's a fresh, bright floral with citrus for some reason and just a hint of resin. It's rather beautiful, actually. Dry: It's now powdery and resinous from the frankincense and osmanthus. There is a faint floral, but I wish it were stronger. I like this much better wet, although it isn't bad now dried.

    Pink Lace

ITB: Super Pepto-Bismo pink-flavored strawberry drink. And vanilla. Wet: I get artificial strawberry, vanilla, and a touch of cognac. It's a bit sweet for me. Dry: It's strawberry candy once dried on my skin. I really wish there was more complexity to this, but for some reason, it seems pretty flat to my nose.
  11. mymymai

    Cykranoshian Catnip

ITB: It's herb, but a warm herb and a touch of resin alongside the orange. It's actually rather pretty. Wet: I can pick up a minty catnip, an odorous, almost smoky wood, and the scent one can catch of oranges in the next room. Dry: After 12 hours, I don't get much other than a faint herby musk. Once reapplied, it's woodsy and smoky muddled with mint and refreshing catnip and just a hint of orange. Gorgeous!
  12. mymymai

    In Winter in My Room

ITB: It's bright and fizzy, like a pink grapefruit cocktail brimmed with violet sugar. Wet: Candied grapefruit, yuzu, violet leaf, peony all come together in a beautifully feminine scent so far. Dry: It gets a touch powdery, but it's still a candied fruit and floral delight.
  13. mymymai

    Nightmare

In the Bottle (ITB): It's somewhat green while being floral and resinous at the same time. Wet:Much more earthy now. I get oakmoss, mandrake, champaca flower, impressions of currant and lavender, and perhaps the softly resinous and uplifting scent of dammar. Dry: It's faint and powdery after a few hours, but I can tease out the champaca and the dammar.
  14. mymymai

    Halfling

In the Imp (ITI): It smells like baked sweet bread, maple syrup, freshly threshed wheat, raisins, and nut meal. Wet: It's very much the same as in the imp, but with the addition of smooshed banana. Dry: It's like brown sugar and cream of wheat with a few more spices and some bear claw pastries on the side.
  15. mymymai

    Pride

ITI: Strongly pungent narcissus is tempered by the rose, making this a floral I would consider wearing outside of a test (so far). Wet: The rose is much stronger on my skin, making the narcissus behave so it's not overpowering everything as it tends to do for me. If this is Pride, it's a beautiful pride, like that of a peacock. Dry: Fully in-bloom roses with a little musk and light narcissus. This turns into something very alluring once dried.
  16. mymymai

    Rhinotoros

ITB: Light grapefruit, very faint vetiver, and a hint of something dry, which might be the white pepper. Wet: On my skin, the grapefruit smells more closely to candied grapefruit baked into rum bread with a hint of vetiver. For me, the vetiver might seem less pronounced as it has aged and I previously tested the Single Note of vetiver. Dry: After a shower, the scent has greened out a little. It's not as citrusy, but I can smell the patchouli much better now. Merged with the vetiver, it's an earthy delight.
  17. mymymai

    Haitian Vetiver

Vetiver is easily one of my favorite base notes. Dark, earthy, and somber, it makes an excellent perfume fixative, and radiates a scent that is profoundly relaxing and gently grounding. In aromatherapy, it is used to treat stress disorders, anxiety, and soul-weariness. It is a truly multidimensional scent, possessing more than a hundred and fifty aromatic molecules, and its fragrance grows even deeper - richly sweeter - and more intense with time. ITB: Very smoky - like smoldering wood and beef jerky. Wet: While it doesn't change too much from my original impression, there is more of an earthiness to it once it hits my skin. Dry: After several hours and a shower, the scent is earthy, slightly resinous, and lightly smoky. I like it much better after it has dried.
  18. mymymai

    Ambergris

ITB: Musk, fougere, slight citrus, and something warm and sweet...almost chocolate-y. Wet: Delicious and animalistic. I get more citrus, and almost candied citrus, once on my skin; however, the fougere, chocolate, and musk are still present in the same way. Dry: It 's slightly powdery and floral now that the musky accord has dried. There is a little hint of chocolate that lingers, making me wish I had a vanilla single note with which I could combine the ambergris.
  19. mymymai

    Sumatran Red Patchouli

ITB: Dark, earthy, and almost rum-like. Wet: I get whiffs of cocoa, menthol, wet soil, and a splash or rum for this patchouli scent. It's dark and enticing, not grunge-fest repelling. Dry: It's a little smokier once dried, but I still can pick up much of the complexity of this red patchouli as I had once wet.
  20. mymymai

    Golgothan Myrrh

In the Bottle (ITB): Delicious, sultry myrrh with a touch of citrus. Wet: The myrrh on my skin still retains a very slight citrus quality while still being sweetly resinous. I'm resisting the urge to slather myself in this scent. Dry: It's still gorgeous as even - sweetly resinous and evocative.

    King Mandarin

In the Bottle (ITB): Strong, fresh-off-the-tree mandarin. Wet: Bright, juicy mandarin and mandarin peel. It makes my mouth water! Dry: I still get mandarin, but it has that odd metallic tinge that citrus gets for some reason.

    Chaste Moon 2005

In the Bottle (ITB): It smells like vanilla buttercream, gardenia, Monoi de Tahiti, and something that reminds me of sparkling soda. Wet: It's very creamy and floral at the same time. It still smells like monoi and vanilla buttercream with light, delicate buds speaking through the fluffy whiteness. Dry: Yum! Monoi de Tahiti, vanilla, delicate white blossoms, and something milky. IT actually is a delicious summer scent to my nose.

    Luna

In the Bottle (ITB): I get jasmine and wood. Mind you, this is a very aged bottle, so some of the notes may be significantly altered due to the aging process. Wet: Once on my skin, a more subtle floral emerges, like ylang-ylang or something along those lines, just under the strong jasmine. There is still a little bit of wood and now a whiff of musk. Dry: Now, it smells like specialty hand soap and jasmine. It's certainly a clean scent.

    The Death-Horse

In the Bottle (ITB): It's resinous but strongly green and herbal with a faint impression of floral behind everything. Wet:The opopponax is rather smoky and it significantly impacts the lily of the valley, taking it from a pure floral to something dark and foreboding. Dry: Smoky opopponax that skews tobacco and now the lily of the valley is warping to a jasmine-like smell. Odd.

    Mag Mell

In the Bottle (ITB): Strong ginger and freshly cut grass strongly pique my interest. I can't tease out other notes at this point, though. Wet: Ah, here is the verbena balanced with a slightly powdery white ginger, while just a hint of grass trails behind it. It's fresh and invigorating. Dry: After 12 hours, I get only a hint of ginger and amber.
