Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
gypsybaby1 replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
I'm not sure, but it might be another component other than the cinnamon... Somewhere there's a thread for allergies. ETA: Found It. -
I'm not quite sure how to review this... it's an odd duck. LOL in the bottle and wet, it's very much milk and honeyed almonds. Very rich smelling and very luscious. But it doesn't seem to last too long - I can't smell it on my skin. However, I can smell it in wafts around me, catching it once in a while when I'm not paying attention. The scent doesn't change much, just gets softer. I'm on the fence about moving up to a big bottle of this. One one hand, this would be great for the kids and dress down days and it'd be FABULOUS in a body butter, but I'm not 100% sold on it.

it's... nice... sweet, but not cloyingly sweet. it's just not for me.
-
love it!! my SIL loved it, my neice and nephew loved it... big bottle, you're on my list!!

I don't know why I wanted to try Anthema. Maybe it was the hopeful sighting of black opium... but vetiver dominates the whole shebang. and it wasn't good, definitely left a funny scent in the nose that wouldn't go away. off it goes!
-
this is just pure rose... and not a pleasant rose for me. I never got a whiff of incense or any other floral in there - straight rose. it's not for me. off it goes!

oh this SO broke my heart! What could go wrong with honeyed almonds and a brush of spices?? I hoped for exotic, sweet honey and fresh crushed almonds... and got spiced play-doh.
-
I don't know why, but as I read the name and the description, I had a mental image of honeydew melon chunks, ripe peach slices, exotic fruits and all of them drizzled with honey. Sadly, that's not what I got. I can't really pick anything out, but it's obnoxiously cloying; left a sick, slick 'taste' in my mouth after sniffing it. off it goes!

with a name like Sleep Moon, one might think it's relaxing and could help you drop off to sleep... so I gave it a night time tryout. it's definitely lavender. I think I got a few zings of sandalwood, but I can't be sure. it's very gentle. helpful with sleep? dunno, but it's a pretty and relaxing scent.

medicinal. just flat out medicinal lemon drops. I couldn't stand it long enough to see if it changed. both imps are off to swap!
-
it's sort of fruity. I can smell the rose in there - yeah, definitely a musky rose. It's pretty, but it's not for me. Just doesn't do it right with my skin. off it goes!

Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig. this is rather pretty! It's definitely green with a bit of a spice zing to it. I'm guess that it's the ginger in there. Very lovely herbal scent, clean and refreshing. I think I'll keep the imp around... not sure if I'll get a bottle for myself.

the description of Nuit made me curious after I received this as a frimp in a transaction recently... so, I was cautiously optimistic about testing it. unfortunately, nothing but jasmine on me... jasmine, jasmine, jasmine... *sigh* not too pretty on me. off it goes!
-
in the imp, it's pleasant, but once it hits my skin, it's all soap and medicine.. like an antibacterial soap! I never got a hit of rose - I think the myrrh and jasmine ate it! Off to swaps it goes!

I got this as a frimp from a purchase a while back and haven't had a chance to test it out yet. This is definitely on my not like list. it's rosemary, rosemary, vetiver and more rosemary. Took me a while to figure out just what the sam-hell was singing the nosehairs, and it's the rosemary in combination with the vetiver. Off to swaps it goes!

I got this as a frimp with a purchase and crossed my fingers as I tried it, hoping against hope that it'd be a rose scent I could wear and not pass out with a pounding headache... aaand I didn't pass out with a headache. but it's not rose. I can't describe it, it's just not rose! I'm so disappointed!

CMVIII I purchased the bottle from Midnight Aeval, simply by the description of "musky tart cherries". and believe me, it was!! in the bottle the cherries aren't what I'd call tart, but it's not a candy sweet cherry either. And I could definitely smell the musk. It does change after it's dry to a powdery floral with the fresh cherry undertone. It's beautiful to my nose, but it doesn't appear to last too long. It's only been on about 2 hours and I can't smell it anymore. Maybe it'll come back...

plastic. just, burnt plastic. I can only assume it's the Balsam and Cedar. off to swaps it goes!
-
Tea Rose? Why am I smelling tea rose? That's all I get. Of course, I've never really smelled peonies, so I can't make an honest comparison - all I know is that my brain says "TEA ROSE!!" when I smell the test patch and it's not pleasant in my nose. Off to swaps!

Dragon's Blood, should have known better. It overpowers anything else - straight to headacheyness. off to swaps it goes.

candy sweet in the bottle; wet it's sweet floral, almost fumey and heady; dries to a soft sweet fragrance of flower mixed with something powdery. Very nice, definitely a keeper.

wet: chocolate? Definitely a sweetish smell. I get the fires and smoke as well as it's drying. There's something in there that's making the cleavage application sting a bit, but nowhere else. It's turning again as it dries completely. This time it's smokier with the musk undercurrent. Definitely fall, definitely urban grit. For some reason, I'm seeing masculine fragrance... if the scent would stay true as wet, then it'd be a great room fragrance. Aw hell.... given that it's been an hour or so since application and my head now feels like it's in a vice, epecially across my cheeks and temples, I have a feeling that this little imp will be on it's way out. No new bottle for me!

Litha and O have honey notes... I think I read on the reviews that Sed non Satiata has honey in it as well. eta - I did a quick search on the lab's site for honey. Here's what came up.

this one is a morpher on me... it starts out sweet while it's wet, but on the drydown, I get the dreaded leather of DeSade. But, whereas DeSade was nothing but leather, there's more components of this one, so I waited it out and was treated to a soft creaminess that reminds me of shea butter. Strange, Yes, I know!! After an hour or so, it morphs yet again into a soft spiciness with a very VERY gentle DeSade leather undertone. I like. I likes it lots and will be seeking a bottle when I can.

it smelled sweet to start with, but quickly morphed into baby powder. Eventually, it dried down into an herby scent, but the BP smell underneath it all ruined the whole thing. Heartbreaking. Off to swaps it goes.
