Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
rosefaith replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
Oh! Well, I guess I'm just getting impatient about your date ! I just got Love Me in my latest order, but have only sniffed it out of the bottle so far. I'll have to give it a try on my skin. Re: O - well, you could just bring along an imp for touch-ups. That would give you an excuse to go out and buy a cute little evening bag to put it in . Btw, I have All Night Long up for swaps at present... -

So which scent did you decide upon, q-spice, and how was your date?! -
From my experience so far, I'd have to agree with friendthegirl. My last order, placed on 3/6, was - according to CC Now - "shipped" on 3/13. The money was taken from my credit card on that date, but I did not receive the package until 3/26. (By the way, I'm in Northern California.) Perhaps things are getting back on track with CC Now these days, but I wouldn't count on it until you hear it from Beth or Brian.

Nice! Good idea. Looking forward to perusing this forum.

Things definitely seem to be getting back on track delivery-wise, everyone. My 3/6 order arrived on 3/26! Of course, this meant that I had to place another order last night .

Ooh. wicked sounds great. Will have to try this one. Thanks for the tip!

Never used to like it much, but I've recently become a big violet fan. My favorite BPAL scents containing violets are: Faustus Old Sybaris Le Serpent qui Danse Others have already described these scents thoroughly above, so I'll leave it at that.

Hi Lora, I just posted an answer to your query on Bust Lounge. I've copied it and pasted below as well... Re: Harlot vs Lucy's Kiss. As I recall Lucy's Kiss - on me at any rate - was big in the pale, rosey department, and faint in the victorian spices one. Harlot, IMO, has much more kick to it. Re: scents with jasmine and/or honeysuckle, my faves so far are: Old Venice, Noir, and Twilight. Of the three, I think you might really like Noir, Lora. Have you tried it yet? It has jasmine and/or honeysuckle in it (can't remember which, but definitely at least one of the two), but does not seem at all like a traditional "jasmine/honeysuckle" scent. I always say it reminds me of Natasha - you know, of Boris & Natasha on the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show : sophisticated, slightly dangerous lady with Russian accent, wearing a long slinky black dress, elbow-length gloves, and smoking a cigarette in a holder. Heavy and spicy. Old Venice is a lush floral - very heady and not too "perfume-y." I don't always like florals, but do love this one. Twilight is awesome, but you gotta love lavender to dig on this one. I love lavender myself, and find that it nicely mellows and balances out the honeysuckle and jasmine in it - makes them not quite so sweet. Re: Old New Orleans and its "hint of spicyness": on me Old New Orleans smelled mostly of gardenia. However, that might be just my weird body chemistry, because in the bottle the lemon and a bit of spice were more pronounced. Also, if you are just on the lookout for more florals in general, in order to balance out the heavy scents you traditionally prefer, you might want to try Maiden. I just got it in a swap today, and it's not at all what I expected. The ingredients are listed as: white tea, Damask rose, and carnation. However, on me the rose takes a back seat to the spicy carnation scent, which is most prominent. edited to add: ditto what shollin said about Othello. You might like this one.

Hey, by the way... Welcome to the forum, xoe and jettgurrl! This forum is a nice, mellow place to be IMHO. Hope you enjoy your BPAL!

I noticed this phenomenon with the Harlot scent as well. The first imp I got smelled a bit like wilting roses with no cinnamon at all that I could detect. In the second imp, the roses smelled fresher, and there was definitely a cinnamon kick to it. At the time, I thought that it was perhaps because Harlot was one of the new scents, and Elizabeth mignt've still been perfecting the formula.

Getting sick of orders showing up as delivered...
rosefaith replied to kebechet's topic in Announcements
Just to put my $.02 in: I'd prefer NOT to have a signature required. My living situation is as follows...there are 3 units on the property, but mail ONLY gets delivered to the front house. They are rarely home, and even if I were home when the mail carrier arrived, I'd never know s/he was there, because I cannot see the front house from my unit. I also would prefer not to have "signature required" be an option we choose, if it meant that if another USPS screw-up happened, customers would have no recourse if their package got lost and they hadn't chosen that option. However, I'm all for paying an additional shipping insurance fee. That way, we'd all be protected, customers and BPAL. -

I hadn't thought of O. I agree with chai_girl: O could be a good scent, too. -

Normally, the BPAL scents I consider the sexiest are: Snake Oil, Old Morocco, and Scherazade. However, I'm not convinced they feel "blue" enough to go with your dress. Noir is a great swanky evening gown scent - it feels more "black dress" than "blue dress" to me, but it could work. Faustus or Old Sybaris might go with your dress. Or maybe Harlot or Carnivale. Seraglio perhaps?.. Let us know what you decide! -
Ooh! That's so interesting about lilacs and ghosts! My favorite lilac scent is Bruja. The myrrh and amber seem to keep the lilac from going into floral overkill.

General citrus recommendations - and discussion of all things orange
rosefaith replied to UltraViolet's topic in Recommendations
Here are some scents I've tried that seem to have fairly strong to strong citrus notes: Embalming Fluid - very light, lemony, and refreshing The Star - like key lime pie! Carnal - sweet and figgy and orangey Baoban Sith - beautiful scent, has that grapefruit thing going on Zephyr - lemony with vanilla and sweet florals, a neat scent but turned headachey sweet on me Lolita - lemony and fruity, VERY sweet -
Warning: Vulgar and Blunt Post Ahead I feel like I had a boiler room coat hanger abortion. Today was HORRIBLE. Oops, looks like we just double-posted, Elizabeth. I hadn't seen your last post above before I wrote mine. Sorry to hear that you're in so much pain. I can't imagine what it feels like to be "dilated" (haven't had kids yet), but it sure doesn't sound like fun. Hope you feel better soon. How about some raspberry leaf tea (good for "female" troubles and uterine contractions)? You could maybe take that along with the percoset ?... Hope you soon go from this to this

Does this mean there's a 10-14 day delay from when CC Now says an order shipped? For instance, they say my last order "shipped" on 3/13. Does this mean I should expect it sometime between 3/23 and 3/27? If so, no big deal (I'm still busy with my imps from the last order ), but it's good to know so I don't think this one is lost, too, lol!
-
As a small business owner (of sorts) myself, I understand and appreciate your integrity about taking reponsibility for making sure we all get our orders, but it's crazy that you should have to pay out of pocket for this whole USPS mess. With the shipping situation the way it's been lately, I for one would be happy to pay the extra $1.30 or whatever for shipping insurance. Perhaps one way of getting around customers declining to pay for optional shipping insurance is to tack on a MANDATORY shipping insurance fee. I think especially if you explain (both here and on the BPAL website) why you are instituting this policy, most will understand and support your decision. Good luck! It's really nuts that ALL this bad stuff has been going on for you guys/gals. There's been SO much bad luck that probably it'll be the kind of thing that (way) down the line you'll look back on and laugh at...(er...maybe?). In any case it'll certainly make for a good story.

Elizabeth, you may have left for the theater already, but if you haven't...for goodness' sake, PLEASE call in sick. They will understand. You are having a medical procedure - it's not like you're being flaky. This is exactly the type of situation that "calling in sick" is for. If you don't let your body rest and recover, you risk being on an endless merry-go-round of physical ailments. Sometimes we have to listen to our bodies and change our plans accordingly. Nothing is set in stone. All plans and commitments can be changed in the face of an emergency situation. Sorry if I sound preachy, but I've done this to myself before, too, and suffered the consequences. Also, I'm a massage therapist, and so I see on a daily basis in my clients the results of people trying to push their bodies too far. If you begin to rest a bit more and maybe institute some self-care practices (if you don't already), I suspect it may help your insomnia as well. Hope the procedure goes smoothly. I'll be sending you some good energy (hope that doesn't sound too New Age-y ).

Eek! I think mine might be one of these, too, because that dang Feb 3 order still isn't here. If it doesn't come in tomorrow's mail, I think I'll have to let Elizabeth know about it. Shall we join hands and sing Kumbaya, chai girl?
-
Eek! I hope that's okay, I just did the same a couple days ago. I don't know why, but putting in another order was somehow comforting - makes it a big easier to wait for my last one to arrive. (All this waiting around is getting expensive .)
-
Yes, I recognize you, too. Howdy . This forum has been my new hangout lately.
-
You can post your LUSH here, too. I have both BPAL and LUSH listed on my swaps post here on the BPAL forum. Others do, too.
-
Hey Pandorra, A lot of us here on the BPAL forum are LUSHies as well. Maybe you could do a swap to tide you over while you're waiting (that's what I've been doing!). You could check out the swaps pages and offer some LUSH in exchange for BPAL?...

Hmmm. Turns out some of my favorite scents are "masculine": Faustus, Laudanum, Othello. Gosh, they didn't seem masculine on me. Should I be worried? ...
