    Gunpowder

Grains, hay and carrots. There is a hint of sweetness with red apples and maple. This is slightly foody, but at the same time it feels wrong to be huffing my arm like I am hungry or something. It really is beautiful, but as a skin scent...yah, not so much. I can see using my decant for room spray. I think it would translate better.

    Ichabod Crane

While I was hopeful this would work, sadly there is just something not quite right with Ichabod. I can smell wool and tea, beeswax and pepper. However, the wool comes across as stale and musty, and the beewsax overwhelms the tea and cream. Ichabod Cranes comes off as a musty, stale wool sweater, with a hint of beeswax and pepper. It's like the sweater has mothballs and candle drippings all over it, with some spilt soiled tea thrown in for good measure.

    The School-House

Oh. What a surprise. Move over doom and gloom, The School House is here to brighten things up. Bright, green, playful and woodsy. The clover really sweetens the blend and balsam and birchwood keep it in check. Dandelion adds a certain youthfulness. Overall this is beautiful and such a surprise weenie.

    The Goblin Rider

The Goblin Rider would have been a big hit, if it didn't have unreachable church incense. Unfortunately the incense overpowers everything else. It starts off with damp cold air, black pine, cedar and opopponax. It is heavy and gloomy, woodsy and bleak, and then incense prevails and ruins it. It is a touch masculine and while it starts off wonderful it goes very funky on dry down.

    The Shattered Pumpkin

Straight up smashed pumpkins saturated in dirt. There is the tiniest hint of leather, but it is really muted. Slightly aquatic due to the water-weeds, but again the notes of soil and raw pumpkin outweigh all. While I love pumpkin, this really doesn't do much for me, and to be honest there are better pumpkins than this.

    Chant D'Automne

Hmmm. The sweet smell of smiking wood, dried leaves and blood musk. While I love musk, this scent really confirms my dislike of blood musk. Unfortuantely Amber takes a backseat in this blend which is all dry leaves and charred wood. Not for me.

    Meditation in Autumn

Smells like a freshly shaven, and squeaky clean man. Very masculine, soapy, and crisp. I kinda like it. It is definitely not what I was expecting. It has an aquatic, and airy feel to it.

    Jacob's Ladder

2005 A beautiful and bright resinous oil. Amber and benzoin with tonka, come together to produce a sexy, slightly creamy, golden scent. On my skin this is stunning. It feels rich and powerful, and yet it has this feeling of being able to fade into the background. Since the one I have has been aged, I can't wait to get this fresh and see what is in store.

    Lick It

Cool, smooth, sugared peppermint. I detect a touch of vanilla, which gives Lick it a creamy feel. Pretty much a delicious yule oil, with the ability to clear one's nose.

    Spooky

Nom, nom, nom. This is a delicious blend of vanilla-mint, coconut cookies. I can barely detect cocoa, but the buttery rum pokes through every once in awhile. Mostly this is all vanilla peppermint though, and while it is really yummy, I can always get the same scent and feel with the lick it series.

    Skadi

Wow. This is the ultimate winter scent. The snow note is so crisp and cold and you can feel it cut right through you. It sends shivers right up my spine, as it is so cold. There is a hint of frost rimmed berries, but they hover so carefully in the background, giving dimenson to the snow. I adore pine, so when it leaps out of the bottle when first applied is welcoming and familiar. It doesn't last long though as the cold crisp scent of snow bears down and overpowers all. This is simply beautiful.

    Snow-Flakes

Cold. Crisp. Minty. Sweetened with vanilla. The comparision made of a blend of Snow White and Lick it are bang on. It is the absolute beautiful BPAL snow note, mingled with cold air, vanilla and mint. Perfection.

    The Snow Maiden

Snow Maiden is definitely an offspring of Snow White. While the almond note is not there, there is a delicate snow vibe, touched by berries, and just a hint of mint. It has a crisp feeling that I don't get with Snow White. While I detect woodsy notes, they come across very soft and gentle, and mixed with daffodil, and ylang ylang, produces this woody delicate floral. It is simply a stunning, sweet, crisp snow scent. I adore it.

    Gooey Pillowcase Atmospheric Spray

Oh, this is so delicious. Buttery pumpkin, caramel fudge, marshmallow, graham crackers. It's like I have died and gone to willy wonka's chocolate factory heaven. Of course the hubby hates it, he says it's too sweet, and he doesn't know why one would want to eat air. After a few minutes however, I notice the buttery pumpkin note fades and while I am a little disappointed, it still smells fabulous.

    TKO Massage Oil

TKO Massage oil is my favorite offering from the trading post. It is not greasy, sinks in extremely fast, and the scent lasts forever. The beauty of the massage oil is that one can slather themselves silly. It does not leave marks on sheets or clothing, which makes it a clear winner. And a little goes a very long way. So you feel like your slathering, but not really. Soothing, calming, sleep inducing magical massage oil. Thank you!

    The Candy Butcher 2006

Rich dark cocoa with a creamy undertone. At times I get whiffs of just plain old milk chocolate, other times, I find it smells nutty. Hazelnuts to be exact. Simply delicious.

    Caliban

Definitely a salty, green aquatic. It's sweetened with wine, and tropical ferns. I can totally relate to the cucumber comparison on drydown. This is everything I hope for when I want a green, aquatic scent. Not to perfumey, not too masculine. A perfect balance.

    The Emathides

It's unfortunate that this scent is often overlooked. Since I moved it to another box, I always forget about it. So without further ado. Gentle lavender, cedar, and amber combine to produce a scent that many call lavender, grassy marshmallows. It's sweet, but not overly sweet. It has a soothing, calming capability and to me it's from the combination of lavender and olive blossom mingled with the softness of amber, blue musk and wood violet. The cedar lends a green woodsy feel. I am moving The Emathides onto my night stand because as a slepp blend it works wonders.

    Snow White

Snow White is perhaps my most coveted BPAL scent ever. I won't distinguish between all the years, because to me they are all the same. Soft snow flurries, a slight touch of almond mingled with a gentle, creamy floral. It is breathtaking, haunting and simple. It lasts forever on my skin and the throw is amazing. I wore Snow White on my wedding day this past April, and I never felt more beautiful.

    Bengal

Oh, this is beautiful. So nummy, and warm, and spicy and delicious. This is the scent of a coffee cake without the coffee. Rich, gooey cake sweetened with honey, spiced mostly with cinnamon and clove. The ginger and peppers are in the background, but not not very prevalent, though lend to the spicy feel. Skin musk makes this slightly sexy, maybe animalistic in a way. I too, was looking to try this blend to see if would translate into Chai tea, and it is bang on. I am in heaven.

    Faeu Boulanger

Herbal, violet, mint and earthy greens. It's airy, pretty and very feminine. There is a perfume quality to it, which surprises me because most of the time aquatics are masculine in scent (to my sniffer anyway.) There is a definite fruit feel, but mostly this is a herbal violet, with mint and greens. I love it!

    The Grindhouse

First whiff from the bottle and I had high hopes. Unfortuantely as soon as I applied The Grindhouse, all I got was the scent of cheap vanilla candles with a splash of red musk for good measure. So it's probably a good thing that I didn't wash this off right away, because the cheap vanilla candle scent disappeared as quickly as it appeared. This is definitely a red musk scent with iris, rose and vanilla in the background. They play together very well, until the clove comes in. Gah, I am just not sure this is for me.

    Eisheth Zenunim

Sweet, honeyed peach. I really do not detect any patchouli in this, except a few whiffs of earthiness here and there. This is one of thoses times that patchouli works, because it tones down the sweetness a bit. Cocoa is not dominant either. Just like the patchouli I only catch glimpses of it. It is definitely not sweet, but grounds the blend. Overall I am pleasantly surprised, but I do think the honey is a little overwhelming. Maybe if it ages, it will become less cloying.

    Cytherea

Wow. I was hesitant to try due to patchouli, but all the other notes with the exception of vanilla are surefire winners on me. This is truly a shapeshifter scent on me. At first she is all woodsy and earthy with a hint of sweetness. After drying for a bit, it is still woodsy, a touch earthy, but has gotten sweeter, slightly creamy and very golden. In fact I feel warm. Sandalwood and amber, along with bourban vanilla and champaca flower create a magical blend. There is only a tiny hint of patchouli that lends the earthy vibe. Absolutely stunning.

    Bezoar

Smooth polished wood, that has sat in the hot sun for years. Hay absolute lends a a dry warmth, and it also gives Bezoar a a sweet golden finish. Spicy cardamom gives this blend a dimension all it's own, and leaves me huffing my wrist wanting more. Sometimes with balsam I get a minty vibe, and at the beginning for a brief moment I swear I can detect mint. I had high hopes for Bezoar and I am not disappointed. This is beautiful. Dry, warm, spicy, sweet, golden wood scent.
