I'd put this in the Snake Oil/Snake Charmer family as well, and I'm especially reminded of Hunger with the orange blossom here, which is really pretty. This is very sweet and gooey and has a lot of throw. Probably bottle-worthy, since it should age very nicely.

Creamy vanilla with coconut. The rose here is very faint and the frankincense is behaving--it's really almost all vanilla-y coconut on me, very foody. Reminds me a bit of Love's Philosophy. Both of the roses are really lovely--I'm going to have to try layering them next!

This is great--there's a blast of rich red rose at first but the drydown is almost all spicy, clovey tobacco. Very rich, very sexy, and I'm not picking up the fir note at all which is great for someone like me who tends to amp fir to the nth degree. Fabulous.

Hmm--I've liked the lab's cherry blossom note so much in the past but something about it here is smelling distinctly of hair spray. The vanilla musk is pretty but the cherry blossom's really taking over and making this not so great on me. Slightly soapy. Rats.

Sweet, sweet berries and figs--*really* sweet. Boozy, from the cognac. The faintest hint of leather underneath it all. If that leather note behaves for a few more hours, this'll be a winner. It's quite strong, too--I keep smelling it wafting around in the air. I'm waiting to smell the paper bag but it hasn't made its presence known--this is just fine without it, though. Tasty!

The plum blossom is quite overwhelming here--it's just plumplumplum for a while. The rice and vanilla add a sweet, creamy background to the PLUM!!! and after a while I start to smell the nutmeg. Creamy spiced plum. Nice, but I have trouble with BPAL's plummy notes smelling a bit artificial on me. This one will need a little more testing.

Oh this is sexy. Fainty spicy, sweet honeyed musk with a note of beeswax that makes me think of Luperci. I didn't try Glowing Vulva last year so I have no idea if this is similar, but it's amazing in its own right. Nice throw too. The real question is: can I have a bottle of something called Giant Vulva sitting around, and wtf do I tell people I'm wearing? Because this is definitely bottle-worthy!

BBQ sauce? Seriously--this smells like sweet, smoky spicy sauce to me. I don't get a chocolate or caramel vibe from it at all. It IS delicious though with great throw...quite tasty!

Homnomnom marshmallow!! This is even more marshmallowy than Marshmallow Poof. It's very creamy and rich--I smell the coconut but it's not taking over the blend; it's just a nice toasty note to keep the marshmallow and chocolate from being too sticky sweet. Really nice and doesn't smell fake at all on me; it's very rich and gooey. Love it!

A creamier, milkier Bliss, very straightforward. I like this but the longer I wear it the more I'm picking up on a plasticky quality in it. I hope it goes away again but I'm not holding my breath.

Faith dipped in white chocolate! Lovely. Very light and airy and a little bit powdery. This smells like an old-fashioned sort of candy, or like a Violet Crumble. Delicious.

This one scared me straight out of the decant, because it was the most screeching awful burnt-plastic smell I have yet to encounter in BPALdom. BAD. Within about 10 minutes it morphed (thank goodness!) into a very nice, creamy strawberry chocolate. I'm not really getting a *white* chocolate vibe, but it's chocolatey. It reminds me of those strawberry marshmallow cream chocolate eggs at Easter. That initial plastic stage is terrifying but the end result is awesome.

The cherry here is indeed quite like that of Bloody Mary, but where Mary was all powdered sugar and light, this one is decadently dark chocolate. Smells just like the candies! Which I could really go for right now after sampling this.

Sexy-spicy-musky-WARM, and a bit herbal. This smells a bit like good-quality potpourri. I can pick out the red musk and a LOT of pink pepper but otherwise everything in here is blended together very nicely. I like this--not sure if it's bottle-worthy but it's good.

That description isn't fooling around when it says "moist soil"--this is wet soggy earthy DIRT first and foremost. The other notes take quite a while to appear--sadly when they do it's the evil jasmine that dominates, and...we'll not speak of her again. I do get a lovely whiff of opoponax and a nice sweetness from the cherry and tobacco, but mostly this is jasmine dirt and thus is not my thing. Interesting combination of notes, though.

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

Starts out as a light fluffy cake and slowly becomes more of a creamy strawberry. The carnation of doom seems to be behaving on me here. I get the merest hint of grapefruit on top of it all. The strawberry note is a lot like that in Sticky Pillowcase! Nice, but it's a little too plastic/artificial on me in the long run and I think the decant will suffice. -
I wasn't expecting this to be so fruity--it recalls The Hamptons a bit, with that cranberry sweetness. There's a slightly minty frostiness, and a smoky note that's getting stronger and stronger the longer this dries. It's not really working for me--it's a bit cleaning-productesque--but I do like the first fruity blast of it. I think the smoke and mint are killing it on my skin.

I have a bottle of Snake Charmer from, I think, the second time it was available (bought on the secondary market), so I know what it smells like aged but I never smelled it fresh. This resurrected version is *very* Snake Oil-y at the first blast and then the coconut comes out in a way I've never noticed with my aged bottle. The plum is more noticeable here too. Overall this reminds me of a fruitier Snake Oil more than my aged Snake Charmer, but I get hints of the "old" SC in this too. It's going to be fun to follow this new bottle through the aging process. No matter what the age, Snake Charmer is a BPAL classic and I'm glad it came back! Love it.

Candy Phoenix started out as a tasty candied pear on my skin and then went into an odd soapy stage that had me somewhat worried--pear soap?? Nooo!! But that didn't last, and the drydown is wonderfully heavy on the black currant with some pomegranate sweetening things up even more. It's a very fruity hard candy scent; none of the fruits here smell fresh and ripe but rather very sugary. Very pretty and sweet and it's got great throw, too. Yummmmmm.
-
I'm impressed--the resurrected Beaver Moon smells EXACTLY like the 2005 version to my nose. YAY! Excellent recreation. Still heavy on the cheesecake crust on me once it dries, and still completely delectable.

Lots of almond at first but OMG the rose in this really jumps in and takes over and it's not a good rose on me (which is rare!). There's an almost vinegary quality about it on my skin. I can pick up the orange, clove and neroli but they're hard to detect under all that rose. The sandalwood here is a little sharp too which isn't really helping things. This may be better once it ages a little.
-
This is nice--all four of the notes are present and accounted for and they blend well. The iris floats over the surface with the coconut and musk being the more dominant notes. My only complaint would be that it's fading so quickly! Nice while it lasts.
-
So light it's barely detectable, but from what I can smell it's a soft vanilla-y sandalwood. It's very pleasant but it's so faint! This certainly wouldn't distract you if you were going to use it for meditation, though--I guess that's the point.
-
Mmm...nice tropical flowers, but as this dries the sandalwood takes over and it's the variety of sandalwood that smells like sandalwood soap on my skin. Bummer.

Miss Lupescu is serious almond straight out of the decant. The musks and patchouli then appear--it's musky almond for a bit, and then the almond starts to fade away, leaving a sweet, musky amber/patchouli. The musk in here must be one of the ones found in Smut, too, because there's a faint hint of rubber way under the surface here. Probably needs some aging, but it's ok the way it is now too. Slightly spicy and quite sexy.
