I love this--the violet is so strong and true! It's a very dark violet, not overly floral. I tend to love ylang-ylang as a note even though it's hard to put a finger on what it smells like, exactly, so I'm just going to give it credit for making this smell so great. Gorgeous.

Lily + carnation=powder AND soap. Oh dear. Makes me want to do laundry.

Why am I smelling something citrusy?? I think my nose is interpreting the cypress that way. Odd. But as it dries I'm getting a delicious whiff of hazelnut and starting to smell the oakmoss--it's getting darker and darker with each passing moment. Interesting. May need further investigation!

Oooh, tasty--wonderfully spicy rum! Smells of cloves and something slightly earthy underneath. This smells sort of like I wanted Port-au-Prince to. It's just a little bit too much on the masculine side, I think...but very nice and very strong.

Dragon's blood with a dash of salt. Almost like lilacs and not as sweet as dragon's blood can be. Fresh and springlike.

I don't get much "aquatic" from this at all, despite the description--maybe a bit of saltiness but that's about it. I get VODKA! and mint and a bit of fresh green apple. The result is so refreshing and crisp! I'd love to try a cocktail that smells like this.

Awesomely fresh, sweet dirt! This almost smells a little chocolatey to me and seems a little more wearable than some of the other dirt blends as a result. Yummy.

This is a great pine--not remotely air-freshenery but instead gooey, sticky sweet pine sap. Strong with pretty good throw, too. I'm not much on pine notes but this is a great interpretation.

What a morpher! Wet, this is all yummy buttery pancakes but in just a minute or two I get a very strong, green grass note, with something that smells like dandelions. This stage was really intense and had me thinking the whole oil was going to be a write-off, but it calmed down after about 10 more minutes into a delicious coffee/syrup-y incense. I could still smell the grasses but they were much less pronounced. They keep this from being totally foody but aren't overpowering in the drydown. This is surprisingly wearable once it's dry, too--I'm always a little hesistant to wear really foody stuff like the Spring Training and Pancake Breakfast oils to, say, work, but I could definitely get away with this in any setting. Nice, especially if you like coffee scents.

Wet: this is dirt. Mmm dirt. Dry: spicy and sweetness layered over the dirt. A strange combination but it somehow works. As others have said this does have a hint of Gingerbread Poppet and Shub about it. Very warm and spicy! Not at all what I was expecting, but I like it.

Hmm. I'm starting to think that rose might be the Kryptonite that subdues jasmine on my skin. I've recently had good luck with Wicked, and thought Mata Hari was ok, and normally I'd have to run screaming from them because of the jasmine. I can smell it in Nyx but this is wonderfully deep and sweet from the myrrh. It's a bit softer than Wicked but just as pretty and feminine. Good job, BPAL!

I'm getting mostly neroli and flowers from this, grounded by patchouli that makes this rather dark and mysterious for a fruity floral. It's ok although the oleander's making it lean towards the soap category on me.

Wonderfully tart and fruity--I agree that the apple note in Verdandi is a lot like Shango as I'm definitely reminded of Shango here! The amber makes this complex and deep. Slightly spicy. I like this a lot and it's lovely on a fall day.

Very sour...I think the blend of cedar and geranium is what's making me think "sour". I'm not a big fan of geranium and it's very strong here. Not good on me at all.
-
Not much rose in this on me; it's mostly lilies and something that smells very clean and white. Maybe that's the mist. It's nice and inoffensive, like a fresh load of laundry.

Kumiho is a lovely and light citrusy/gingery tea. I'm reminded of both The Dormouse and Sudha Segara. This is something that would be perfect on a warm summer's day. Seems to have a bit more throw than a lot of tea-based blends. Very pretty!

Very light and floral and plummy. Jasmine usually KILLS me but I barely smell it here--the lily of the valley is the dominant note. This is going a bit powdery on me, though, as those white flowers tend to do. It's also slightly sour. So it's ok but not really for me.

This is nice--a cut above some of the other manly BPALs that all smell alike to me. I get a gorgeous note of bergamot and a dash of thyme layered over a background of sweet lavender. It's beautiful and not herby-herby, cooking-smell-y. Unfortunately, bergamot tends to not like my skin and I can feel this itching a bit, so this won't work for me, but it does smell lovely.

Lots of honey, a slightly herbal tinge, and myrrrrrrrh omg that wonderful BPAL myrrh! This reminds me a bit of Petit Mort with herbs added. It's sweet but very deep and resiny--smells like really good incense. Very nice!

Spicy! Almost identical to Bengal to my nose, with maybe a hint of tea and woods. This'll eat my skin alive but it certainly smells fantastic.

YUM. I can't believe I neglected this one for so long! The vetiver is really only prominent in this when it's wet; once Death Adder is dry it's a sweeeeeet vanilla-y, foody take on Snake Oil. The vetiver remains only to keep this from being too sweet and gloopy. This is great! I might need a bottle of this before it goes away.

Whole lotta notes here...wet, I get fresh coconut that begins to morph into flowers...then there's a slightly soapy floral stage. Finally I end up with barely-there patchouli; this really hasn't lasted very long and doesn't have much throw at all by the dry stage. It's very pretty while I can smell it, though, and it's interesting the way it morphs! Glad I finally tried this one.

This is a lovely light verbena when wet but the second it starts to dry: cedar XTREME!! Holy cedar! So it's got the whole range of cleaning products covered, at least. Nice if you like cedar.

Musk, musk, MUSK and what smells like the undergrowth of a forest. Dank and earthy. Not working on me.

All those notes and I just smell JASMINE--but! This is a yummy, almost candied jasmine--I must have the vanilla and tonka to thank for that. It's not turning to soap or giving me a headache. That's rather amazing, so good for Mata Hari. I wish I could smell the other notes, though!
