Men's cologne. *Nice* men's cologne, but it's just...cologne. On the other hand I'd like to give props to the leather for NOT stomping all over the rest of the notes like it usually does!

A less sweet O--vanilla and a gloriously golden (aptly named, this one) amber. I can't pick out the rosewood and other notes specifically but there's a depth to this that O doesn't have (and perhaps I'm picking up a bit of pine after all). This is really gorgeous and a must if you like BPAL's vanillas.

Loads of lily here! And lily is usually a complete failure on me. It's staying more true to an actual floral scent in Ulalume than usual--I wonder if the woods in here are rooting it a bit, so to speak, and keeping it from turning into soap. This is very light and delicate and watery. Perfect for someone who really loves lilies!

Powdery carnation and salty ambergris. And some patchouli--I get no orange blossom here. The end result is rather hairspray-like. It's not awful but it's not something I want to smell like all day.

Ohhhhhh. Beautiful! This smells like walking through Queen Mary's Gardens in Regent's Park in London at the height of summer...roses, roses, roses and a little greenery. I have a habit of spraying that classic Tea Rose perfume from The Perfumer's Workshop in my bedroom for a nice rosey smell but this may replace it!

What a lovely fresh, clean (yes CLEAN) dirt/earth smell this has. With a touch of light flowers. Smells like being outside on one of the prettiest days of spring. And it's STRONG...I spritzed it once in my bathroom and that whole half of the apartment smells like freshly turned earth now. Love it.

I got that strong melon/muskiness from Doc too. It's definitely masculine! The scent lingers really nicely.

A salacious, lecherous, leering scent - dirty and dark, slapped with a wet sweetness. Earthy black patchouli swelling with apricot. I got pure dirt from Depraved, no apricot at all. Looking at other reviews it makes me wonder if the imp I tried wasn't a little off. Surely there should be *some* fruit!

The kumquat in this is sharp and bitter. Aizen-Myoo starts off this way on me but it fades into something softer...Night-Gaunt doesn't. Too strong.
-
Sinister, sinuous...PEANUT BUTTER?? I mean, not that there's anything wrong with peanut butter, but...it's not really something I associate with, y'know, primordial gods.

A nice floral, but something in this made my skin itch almost instantly upon application, and I'm not sure what--I don't have trouble with rose or lilac or wisteria in that regard. Had to wash it off fast.
-
The almond in Hecate backfires on me big time--in the imp it's yummy amaretto goodness but on my skin it starts to smell...dirty, and not in a good way. Must be the butteryness! Not good.

I love the cinnamon/dragon's blood combo, but as Tintagel dries the fruitiness and spiciness together make it go all candle-y on me. It makes a fantastic room scent though!

Venice has a couple of my death notes in it (jasmine and wisteria) that killed it for me. It started off as a lovely, light fruity floral but the jasmine took over fast and the wisteria...old lady powder! Beautiful when it's fresh, though.

Sob. I've tried Morocco a few times now and it just smells like...nothing. Well, maybe plastic, slightly sweet nothing. My skin + Morocco=EPIC FAIL. It sounds so gorgeous but something in it just completely cancels it out on me.
-
I get soapy floral from this one too--too many different flower notes in here for me, and one's gardenia, which never works. I do pick up on the ebony note. But mostly it's just floral.
-
Carnation on me is usually a note of doooooooooooom...but it almost works here. What starts as a soft lavendery floral dries down into a nicely powdery (not old-lady powdery) carnation, and it's very pleasant. Nothing outstanding, but nice and softly perfumey.

Strong, strong, STRONG aquatic. This smells like heavily-scented laundry detergent on me. A teeny bit of salt too but mostly it's just detergent and it goes straight to my sinuses.

Surprisingly nice--this is fresh, clean, and cottony with just a mere hint of piney/woodiness in the mix. It really does smell like a fresh roll of t.p.! Not much staying power, though (sort of like the last roll of t.p. in the house, it's gone before you want it to be), but it's nice while it lasts. Cute concept, good execution.

Wow, this is daaaaark...mysterious and a little naughty and black, black, black! (Not literally. That would be messy.) Strong opoponax and myrrh are dominant. The amber is sweet and the musky is...musky. I do get the cola vibe from this that others have mentioned when it's wet but the drydown is much richer and less, well, fizzy. This is wonderful, and I can't wait to smell it in a year's time because oh, how it will age!

My fourth variant of Sugar Skull and '08 is just as delicious as the previous versions have been. The candied-fruitiness seems a little stronger in this one but otherwise...yep, that's Sugar Skull, and it's a classic. Great throw and great staying power as always, too.

I'm thinking "strawberry taffy!" whenever I sniff this one on my arm. It's sweet but not omggooeycloyingagh sweet, and makes you think of all those soft, chewy candies in the description--marshmallows, candy corn...om nom NOM it's good. And not too strong, which I like in a scent like this. This is awesome and I'm sure it'll be a HUGE hit.

Dear leather, please do not turn into tires on me, just this once. I love red musk... Hmm. I get a lot of myrrh in Loviatar (yay!) and faintly sweet red musk...and a LOT of leather like I always do. The myrrh is balancing the leather out, though, and keeping it from being overpowering. Oooh! This is a nice blend and makes me want to try Krampus sometime.

Sin was actually in my first imp pack I ever bought but I could never make my mind up about it, so I decided on a retry. I do like it a lot--the cinnamon-spiciness blended with the patchouli is very sexy. And is there some sort of musk in here? I think I'll give it a proper wearing one of these days.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

Have you tried Imp? I think it's the best of the BPAL peaches.
