I just tried Undertow on and thought of this topic. What a coincidence.

This went on so strong and fruity it was almost overwhelming and I started to regret putting it on today...but! It's calmed down into this sparkly, light grape with a little whisper of flowers, and I really like it. Reminds me of Titania with grapes instead of pears. Not much throw, but still nice (and completely wrong for winter; I'll set this aside for a few months).

This is pure, sweet cedar on me with a floral hint in the background. It's not something I'd normally wear but it's quite unique and I think it might grow on me. The oil is a gorgeous color, too.

That's apricot, all right. I liked Katharina and March Hare, but they're both very sweet, foody apricots. This is more fresh-fruity apricot and a little more wearable. I'll be stashing this away for spring.

Myrrh, myrrh, myrrh--absolutely beautiful myrrh! This goes on smelling like O minus the sweetness (sugar-free O?) and dries down into a sort of Chimera without the cinnamon. It's delectable, and will layer well with Chimera, methinks.

The patchouli is attacking! Run! I try so hard with patchouli but it's just not me. The honey note is beautiful in this but the patchouli kicks in after about 5 minutes and then whoa Jack, look out. I will stick with O and Jezebel for my honey fix.

I get chocolate floral from this too. It's really unusual and pretty and very femme. Makes me think of heels and lipstick. There's something a bit leafy/foliagey in there that surfaces after a couple of hours, too. Very nice and not an overwhelming scent.

Very very faint ginger and some florals. I mean *very* faint. I'm going to let this imp age a bit and see if it gains any strength, mostly out of curiosity since ginger and I don't really get along.

A poisonous fruit-bearing member of the buttercup family. The scent, like the plant, is dark green, herbal, and plump with bulging black fruit. Jester minus the sweetness or Akuma minus the leafy note. And all three are very short-lasting on me, sadly, because I love berry scents. It's so pleasant while it lasts though!

This (and Hymn) both smell like churches--candles, incense, etc. And they both smell AWFUL on me. I knew I was a heathen and now I have proof in BPAL form. Ha!

I got this to try out of pure curiosity--would BPAL amber go bad on me? It's in so many scents that I thought "Well, I'll try The Lion, and if it goes off, then no more amber blends". Well. Amber and I get along just fine, it seems. I love love love this. It's like some wonderful baked pastry--not overly sweet, just golden and spicy and warm. It's perfect on a nasty rainy day or on a chilly night and I think it'll be a great warm-weather scent too. So bring on the amber!

Butterscotch booze. It's wonderful at first, but something about the drydown makes me go all queasy, which is frustrating, because it smells so great when first applied!

Took approximately 5 seconds to turn to soap on me and stay that way. Rats! I'll stick with Titania for my pear fix, then.

This imp's been sitting around for a bit and I decided to give it a spin today...so glad I did because it's so pretty! At first it's just rose (very much like Black Rose on me, oddly enough), but now the honey's coming out and I keep wondering what smells so good and realizing that it's me. Gorgeous! I may put this away and try it again in the spring as it's a little light for winter, but it's definitely a keeper.

Fresh from the lab, this was tooth-rottingly sweet chocolate; a couple of months later it's become much darker and richer, like the best brownies you've ever had. Wonderful, and I'm buying a bottle to put aside for a few months until it's PERFECT!

Straight, simple dragon's blood on me; it's quite sweet and not that unlike Dragon's Milk (which I love!). Very nice and stays the same through the drydown stage.
-
I got mostly incense in this on first application, but the red blotches that soon showed up on my skin heralded the cinnamon to come. And now, 4 hours later, that's all it is...very light, nice cinnamon.

Smells just like when you open a package of lebkuchen, aka Perfect Gingerbread Scent. Wonderful! And so of course I try this the first year that it's not offered for Yule. Sigh.

Several of BPAL's cinnamons have gone candle-y on me, but Chimera is remaining a nice warm cinnamon cookie, with the honeysuckle peeking out after a couple of hours. Delicious, and also one of the least irritating cinnamon blends on my skin. Myrrh is becoming one of my favorite notes, too--I love how it adds depth and complexity to the simplest of blends!

The reviews of this are fascinating--I get no rum, tonka, leather, nothing from this but pure tobacco. But it's gorgeous tobacco. It's like that lovely smell when someone smoking a pipe is near you. I'm not sure I'd wear it everywhere, but I will definitely pull this one out next time I'm going to a smoky bar.

On me this is very sweet floral vanilla. VERY sweet. Too sweet, in fact. It makes me want to brush my teeth.

A feisty bouquet of golden, warm, gently honeyed lilies. The lab's description of this is dead-on--honeyed lilies it is! It's so pretty. I have other BPAL honeys I prefer, but this is still really nice.

When I first got this imp (lab-fresh) the ginger in it jumped out and smacked me around quite roughly; I'm not a huge fan of ginger, so decided to put the imp away for a bit. It's about 2.5 months old now and completely different. It is similar to Snake Oil, as others have mentioned, and the ginger's not nearly as prominent. Thumbs up!

Lemony, sugary tea. I'm not a tea drinker (more of a tea loather) but I didn't mind the tea note in this--but tea doesn't like me and it gave me a headache after a couple of hours even though the smell was pleasant.

So perfectly named. If drinking champagne is drinking stars, then wearing Stardust is wearing them. It really does smell sparkly and effervescent. I get the hairspray note when first applying it, then it dries down to prominent white musk with flowers. It's the best party you've ever been to, but with a hint of the morning after to come.
