This is the 05 version. Dammit, I was hoping for incense. I get sweet greenery, with a hint of something soft or musty underneath, and if I seriously huff my wrist I maybe get a hint of spicy incense. Mostly I get cactus, and while it's certainly not unpleasant, there are things I'd rather smell like. Surprisingly, I got almost none of the foodiness, and Dia didn't turn omgCOCOA on me like a lot of blends do; however, it doesn't morph much either, and so Ihave this light desert-y sweet cactus smell and I keep looking longingly at La Fee Verte. Eventually I got bored, washed Dia off and put on something I like better. Someone will love this; just not me.

this one was kinda... meh. I'm paraphrasing this review from my notes, since I swapped HGM off the very same day I received it. All I got was slightly musty-sweet vanilla, rice and grapefruit. It wasn't unpleasant, but at the same time it wasn't that nice either. I didn't object to it, it was even kinda good on the occasional whiff; but not something I would've chosen to smell like. It was very warm, and didn't morph much, and stayed on my skin all night and into the next day. All in all: warm, sweetly musty and meh.

Mmmm.... this blend is my stompy colourful blend! if this were a song, it would be 'Volcano Girls' by Veruca Salt. Wet, it's fruity and rather sweet and almost reminiscent of hard candies. It dries down to primarily poppy and sage at first, with a backdrop of blackberry and bubblegummy lotus... the tonka comes out to play very late in the game, a couple of hours later. It's not a 'happy' blend, in fact is herbal and not obviously exciteable at first sniff -- but it's definately colourful, and there's something really energetic about it, I think it's the blackberries, giving it punch. I'd love to find a 5mL.

Apparently, another one I've never reviewed. I really need to be more on top of these things. Jacob's Ladder is my classy, daytime, going-out-to-lunch scent. It's golden and surprisingly sweet with amber at first, and that goes steady for the first few hours until it dries down to a powdery amber-ambrette-tonka. It disappears relatively quickly, unfortunately -- totally gone after six hours -- but while it's there I feel bright and beautiful and on top of the world. If I had to categorize this one by Look (as I do with most of my perfumes ) this one is a well-cut coat, sleek blow-dried hair and a sincere diamond smile. Wearing JL makes me feel like a million dollars, and it's great for a pick-me-up or to celebrate waking up happy. /end gushing.

I can't believe I've never reviewed this blend! I have three bottles of Stardust. While I've reason to think that's overkill -- I really don't slather, and this certainly isn't one to reach for every day -- I just wanted to be sure I never ran out. Besides, sometimes it's fun to wear dressy things out in the day. Wearing Stardust in the day time is kind of like wearing opera pearls to lunch On me, stardust 05 smells firstly of hairspray, but not unpleasantly. As soon as that dissipates, I get a white floral overlaid with fizzy sparkly champagne -- a cold, clear white scent that's just a little bit dirty. To me it's very jaded and devil-may-care and makes me feel awfully glamorous. The drydown is muskmuskmusk, which is the only thing I dislike about it; after 8 hours, I'd like it if the remaining scent had at least a little mroe complexity. Still, given that most of the time I'd be wearing it would be for 4-6 hour parties in the evening, that's not really a problem! Stardust is gorgeous, and hugely underrated. I'm really sad so few people seem to adore it...

oh dear I wanted so to like it! sadly, I get nothing but musty, stale earth when I put this on my arm, and only the faintest hint of floral when I wedge my nose against my wrist and huff. Whyyy?

Spicy melon candy that dries down to creamy sweet tea. It's beautiful. I'd write a better review, but I only tested a little of this from a friend's bottle; but suffice to say that if I could get my hands on some, I'd do so in a trice. Candyish without being sweet or syrupy, with a little kick; buoyant and happy and fizzy. Yum.

spicy red wine and roses. This is a beautiful and complex scent in the imp, but on my skin it just makes me smell like an expensive alcoholic. Not for me.

WET/ON SKIN: Cinnamon. blasts of cinnamon. DRY:...and copal. and a touch of honeysuckle. this smells sweet and slightly food-like without being foody, if that makes sense. it's warm and alluring, but in a weird way a little dangerous. This is my I'm-feeling-badass scent a keeper. and maybe, maybe a big bottle purchase. I'll definately refresh the imp. ETA: I've refreshed this three times in the last 18 hours. And not because it was gone, just because I wanted to smell it more. This is definately going to be a bottle. I really didn't expect to like this, but mmmmm.

this is lovely it starts out a warm vanilla and dries down to vanilla-sandalwood with saffron; I don't get so much of the rum, though. It was nice to try it, and I'll keep my imp; but the drydown of Lick It Again smells basically the same only it's cool while Underpants is warm. Close enough that I don't care to go hunting all over hell's half-acre for a bottle of Undies. RATING: Three and a half stars -- nice, solid, lovely, but not an OMGneedmore.

at first, quite bracingly minty. Once the ZOMGmint has burned off, it's yummy creamy sugar with just a little touch of nose-clearing menthol. I enjoy this, although I'm not sure I need the full 5mL I've got. the drydown is really nice though... mmm ((inhales 'nilla-y goodness from wrist)) this will be perfect for Christmas party wear. ETA: mmmm forget my earlier assessment, i'm totally going to wear through the whole bottle at the rate I'm going. Also, for MB: Underpants lovers -- the drydown to me smells close to how Underpants smells when it's wet (no saffron, but otherwise identical). if you don't care about the cachet of having a supercoveted scent, then this is a good alternative...

Weird. Everyone else seems to be getting flowers. I get.... leather. WET/DRYING: leather. leather and oakmoss, softened by something but I couldn't tell you what -- it's not harsh, and it's ever-so-slightly dusky and smoky, and there's something that does make it femenine which I guess must be the floral peeking through. But the note that hits my nose is prettymuch pure leather. DRY-ER: odd, it's souring a little bit now. This stuff has throw -- my schnozz is mediocre at best but I can smell it from a few feet away on my wrists. this is fine, there's nothing wrong with it, but I won't use up my imp and there's no sense in my buying a bottle. off it goes.

The perfect scent to wear to your next bondage ball, dungeon adventure or sojourn to your favorite pleasure dome. Smoky rum and black tobacco with a whisper of steamy leather with a splash of crystalline chardonnay, layered over a sensual, sweet, and deceptively magnetic base of tonka. NEW REVIEW because after looking back, I was unhappy with my old one. Mrrrrow. Of all the GC's I've tried, Perversion is my uncontested favourite. On me, it smells like sweet rich tobacco with a grounding underlay of leather, that dries down to a very sexy tonka. It's a warm, sly, slinky scent -- it's not an aggressive come-on like Lust is, but it's what I wanted Snake Oil to be. Leather scents don't usually work on me, and my skin usually amps sweetness like crazy, but this stays sane and not-sickening and grounded. I'm powering through my imp, and I know I want a bottle.

The radiance and desolation of winter. In bottle: aquatic with mint and a delicate sweetness that's so light it's basically the absence of any non-sweet characteristics. I've been quite looking forward to this one. WET ON SKIN: gentle mint! lovely. DRY: eucalyptus. AFTER A WHILE: armpits. Swap!

TMI Portion of the review: I would sell my virginity for more of this scent. it's jumped to Second in my top ten, displacing Stardust to sit one below La Fee Verte... gently sweet, not teeth-singing sugary like Midway, it hugs close to the skin and is soft and peachy-light. I smell a leeetle bit of the tea making this clearer and preventing it from becoming sickening. I am so lucky to have a full 5mL, and I hope something similar comes out as a GC. I'd buy it all up in a trice.

halcyon_flight put it correctly: sliiinky. she poked me to try this, and she was ever so right. wet on skin, it starts off as candlesmoke! which rapidly disappears into sweet, dark with a hint of wax and an incense base. The 'sweet' is mostly rose cut with carnation, and the amber musk prevents it from becoming heavy and oppressive floral incense. It's beautiful, but it has character -- even if it doesn't have huge throw, it's one of my 'character' fragrances, not my go-everywhere scents. But it is ever so lovely, and I'm glad I have a bottle, though I won't need another.

I got this as a sniffy from eviltemptressdq, thanks everso and mmmm... I am content. So far I'm 3 for 3 on the Salon blends (Lucretia, Great Cry, and now this). I'm seriously considering this as a big bottle purchase. It starts off quite green, and crisp but I don't get the sharpness that others complain of; as it driesit retains its green quality, but the floral notes emerge, couched in resiny softness and laid over a hint of musk. Due to a few overenthusiastic first ventures I've learned not to trust my first impressions until I have fourth impressions to back them up; but this is really looking like it'll be a bottle. I could stand smelling like this every day.

I wanted to like this, really. None of the sexy/slinky scents ever work on me It smells powdery and sickeningly sweet, and reminds me rather of Gluttony. I'm sure on someone this smells gorgeous. On me, it smells loathsome. Someone else can have it!

I love and adore La Fee Verte -- it is by far the loveliest BPAL blend I've tried, which is saying something -- and so I was hoping Absinthe would at least bear some resemblance to it, so I could maybe layer it with Dorian or something to produce a sweeter, creamy approximation... Blech! Sharp! Like sticking freezing needles into my nose. Needles freshly-sterilised with alcohol. I didn't even wait to see if it morphed -- washed it off after ten minutes. So very very not me. This is my second crack at it, incidentally. Not yummy at all.

I was thinking about this just a week ago! Song/Scent combinations that have passed through my collection: "You're My Angel" (Styles and Breeze) -- Snow Angel "Twist" (Goldfrapp) -- Smut "Every Me Every You" (Placebo) -- House of Mirrors Songs I need scents for: "It's No Good" (Depeche Mode) "Cells" (The Servant) -- this is my very favourite song. If anyone can help with this I'd give my undying thanks "World in My Eyes" (The Cure cover version)

IN BOTTLE AND WET ON SKIN: Spicy resiny dark. H'mm.. I don't usually love scents this dark. It doesn't seem distinctly masculine to me, but it's definately not femme-y. We'll see. [NB: while it was drying my roommate -- who is normally indulgently indifferent to my smellies -- sniffed, said 'mm! I really like that!' and glued her nose to my wrist for about fifteen seconds. This is the first time she's actually expressed an opinion, other than a nod-and-smile 'that's nice'... DRYDOWN: quite sweet on me! maybe it's my skin chemistry, everything comes out too sweet on me; I wonder what this would be like on a fellow. This actually kind of remidns me of the drydown of Freak Show, which I already have a bottle of. EDITED A SECOND TIME: I picked up another bottle of this on a whim. If I give it an hour or so, it dries down to a resiny softness that I actually quite like -- and it didn't go supersweet on me this time around. I could go either way, but now that I've got another bottle I'll keep it I think.

WET ON SKIN: ooh, a bit spicy! a bit of incense, rather sharp actually. DRYING: oh, now the earth is coming out.. it softens considerably, the incense is still there but the rose is coming out. it's quite subtle, my skin kind of eats it but leaves a trail behind -- enough of one that I want to keep the bottle. DRY: I get pomegranate (yum), myrrh, earth and just a little rose and vanilla. VERDICT: very beautiful, unusual and elegant. I feel like a slightly-exotic lady, very self-possessed when I'm wearing this. Which is odd, because I'm really not a pentacles girl (swords are more my game). not one I'll wear a whole lot, but maybe it'll be a grounding influence for me.
-
wow, I can't believe I never reviewed this. I got it as a frimp from a swap (I think) and kept it even though I know I'll never wear it, just because it smells so, umm, accurate. First off this stuff is hella strong. It's stronger than my Monster Bait: Closet which can be detected a floor away (no kidding). The dominant note is red musk, and it's sweet and spicy and oozes with sex, but definately not romance. If pure sex smelled good, that would be Lust. unfortunately, it's way too strong for me. I will stick to Envy, my very favourite sin.
-
mm! I'm not usually a florals gal, but I had a good feeling about this one. Not disappointed It smells quite soft on me, which I was looking for -- delicately floral underneath, but that lovely amber scent keeps the flowers under control. The musk makes it sexy but not overpowering, and because it's so soft, even when it wafts up from my skin I don't feel like I'm being hit in the face by a wall of scent. It blends into my skin quite a bit -- I know that's weird, but that's what I wanted. something delicately scented that smells rather like 'me, only better' after a few minutes the musk comes out in slightly more force, and I get a bit of the spice mentioned in the description. yumm. we'll see how I feel once I've worn it for a few days, but I might need to collect this.

awwright, I'm reviewing an aged bottle and the gal who sent it to me said it smelled a *lot* nicer to her when it was new, so this may be a bit wonky. But.. WOWsweet. Vanilla, lots of that, and the usual suspect -- Play-Doh. Doesn't change, doesn't morph, and my skin feels curiously slightly gummy where i dabbed the oil. We are not fond. I'll pass it around to some of my friends who like the sweets and see if any of them like it... otherwise it's up to ebay. I'm sure *some*one in the universe will go, "Yesss! OMG, Aged O! I *love* that stuff!"
